Adorable kaiten(sp) place in north Miami/biscayne park neighborhood. Delicious sushi on tiny boats floating around. Chef is very friendly. I asked a couple of questions and he was more then happy to answer. I was here a few days ago late on a Sunday night with family and wasn't impressed or disappointed so I wanted to return on my own. I'm very happy I did. Their sashimi is on point! Fresh and delicious salmon and various white fish/tuna. Service is gracious and prices are reasonable. Had dinner at Sushi Lucy on Saturday night. Sat along the bar by the Sushi Boats and grabbed around ten plates of different options. Quality Sushi Lucy is all about the sushi boats. It is affordable and a fun time, but just not the best sushi. Now that is not to say any of the items were bad, just that they are not to the same level as other more polished sushi spots across Miami. But that could and should be expected from rolls that may make a few rotations around the bar. In all we ordered about ten plates, though I may have miscounted. Our dishes included Wakame Salad, California Roll, Salmon & Cream Cheese Roll, Shrimp Tempura & Avocado Roll, Volcano Roll, Spicy Crab Roll, Little Lucy Tower, Salmon Nigiri, Tuna Sashimi and Salmon Sashimi, but I may have left some off. My highlight was probably the Shrimp Tempura & Avocado Roll. I felt the warm dishes tended to outshine the others, maybe because it masked some of the issues of freshness. That explains my enjoyment of the Volcano Roll and in turn why I think I found the Tuna and Salmon Sashimi my least favorite bites of the night. Decent and plentiful, just not the highest quality. Quantity It is very easy to overeat here. With the constant flow of delicious looking plates, it is hard to say stop. It took us two attempts at calling it quits, before we finally called over the hostess to officially close out. Value Each plate color is given a price between $2.50 and $6, and you grab what you wanted directly from the boats. The majority of dishes were in the $5 or higher range, but they were the more complex and speciality options. But even as the plates started to stack up, the bill was still not bad. Ambiance Sushi Lucy is located in North Miami at the end of a small strip mall. The space is long and narrow and the sushi boat river is the centerpiece of the space. A bar extends from near the entrance of the shop all the way to the back with a flowing waterway. Boats are lined up along it, each carrying a small plate. Guests are encouraged to grab what they would like and as they finish stack the empty plates above them, so the bill can be calculated. At the center of the river stood a sushi chef who was creating the dishes soon to be loaded on the boats. It was a casual and quiet space, with just light instrumental music playing in the background. Crowd It is a relatively small space with a long bar and then a few tables towards the back. It is a good place for small groups and couples, but not really appropriate for large groups. So when two large groups walked in back to back, one group chose to turn back and leave rather than split up or wait. It is definitely family friendly as kids seemed to love the boats and it is a very casual atmosphere. Service Other than to sit us down and give us our check, we did not have much interaction with anyone. We were content with the offerings on the boats, so did not feel the need to order anything special off the menu. Parking The restaurant is at the end of a strip mall that has some private parking spaces. As the only business still open, finding a spot was not a problem, however it may be tougher during the week. Extra Sushi Lucy follows the fun idea of sushi boats, but it just leaves a lot to be desired in terms of quality. So much about great sushi involves timing and that is difficult to get it right when you don't know how many rotations a dish may have done. Regardless it sets up for an entertaining evening or a fun date, and one that won't break the bank. read more

Finally, a place that does a sushi bar right! Everything I picked up from the floating bar was AMAZING! This restaurant is tiny, only two tables and the rest a bar. I would recommend coming early, I would assume it gets packed quickly. Also, there's not much parking. Maybe Uber here. All my friends loved this place too. Started off great-the first month! Unfortunately there is no one in charge. Never sign of a manager or anyone who seems to be in charge. Understaffed and overwhelmed young lady, (who looks like it was her first day working in a restaurant), clueless trying to figure out how to seat people. Common sense would say if there is a table of 8 waiting to eat at a bar - seat the 2-2 tops and 1-top, because they will be done eating before the others clear out for the larger group. Watched as 7 people walked out the door, because there was no one there to assist or acknowledge what was going on. That was just tonight . . . Week before I attempted to walk in at 10, and the door was locked, even though people were still inside and plenty of sushi floating around on the boats (as I knocked on the door and pointed at my watch the waitress turned and walked towards the back). Service was not great, they forgot my husbands water and the check, had to ask for each multiple times. What can I say the concept is cool and neat but the food was nothing special or life changing. It was average sushi nothing about It was authentic. I eat sushi often I would say more often then most and I'm not extremely picky by any means. The rice was HOT with cold raw salmon that doesn't make sense. The choices were ok. They had the basics most of the popular things you would have to ask for. The prices were average with other kaiten sushi places. I felt myelf counting the plates more then enjoying the food. Usually when I eat at these places I just go nuts and it's ok but I didn't feel that way here. I was arm and arm with some guy who had Cologne that could kill an elephant and I overheard a conversation where a girl said this was the best sushi she had ever eaten. I was wondering if she usually gets sushi from a gas station in Alabama? Overall it was ok give it a shot if your curious but I don't see myself coming back. Sushi Lucy is the bad bitch and I mean that in the best way possible. Kaiten style sushi is the way to eat, tapa style portions floating on boats that float right in front of you. There are 7 colored plates starting at $2.50 to $6 so pay for each plate you grab. Great atmosphere and amazing food, I have eaten at Kaiten style places but this one makes some unique plates. Everything tastes fresh and you can request anything you like. They offer also beer, sake and wine. Ok so the service is the main reason why I will always come back to this place. The people who work there is are great and very polite. The owners are very friendly and humble people, hard to find genuine personalities but these two got it. Fresh rolls, sashimi, fried appetizers and more. They have a good variety of food so there is something for every type of sushi eater. What an absolute joy this place is! Went in without any knowledge of the place to surprise my girlfriend and it impressed us so much we are going to return on her birthday. Aesthetically it's not overwhelming and very focused on the display of the boats on the rivers. It's absolutely charming! I think the boats go a tiny bit fast. There are two/three stations where chefs are preparing sushi and putting them on the boats. This helps you avoid having someone closer to the beginning of the line take all the sushi. Best seats are the 4ppl tables for sure though. This sushi was THE BEST I have ever had. It felt absolutely fresh. A transcendent experience through flavor and texture. It was absolutely INSANE. It's really hard to find a place that I enjoy and give it 5 stars! We arrived at a great time and found the best spot! We got to try different types of sashimi, tartar, rolls, etc. The only thing that didn't was %100 was my miso soup but it wasn't bad either. Chef made a special roll with tataki and jalapeños that I loved! And before leaving he made something close to cevich, had red onions, sashimi cut hamachi if I'm not mistaken and lime. I really liked this place.. here is why! you sit down and it's a river of sushi boats in front of you! you get to pick the plates and they charge you based on the plate's colors, so you keep the plates and they count them at the end for your total! super fresh food (which is key for a sushi place) very tasty and lots of variety! I did not give it 5 stars only because we did not get to try all the color plates that we are supposed to be able to choose from! but overall, super friendly staff, food was tasty, price was decent (about $80 for 2 people and 2 beers including tip) place was clean and cozy and I would definitely be going back! read more
