Great service, amazing food and chill location! They had so many options on the menu but I opted for a speciality roll and salad. Both were flavorful and refreshing. Will make sure to come back on my next visit to Napa!

Stopped by for a quick lunch today, Food was good, service is attentive. We had beef sukiyaki which smelled and tasted really good, white rice was a bit hard but I softened it with the sukiyaki broth. Sushi was great and the fatty torro was excellent. Overall it was great and I definitely recommend it.

Tempura

If you want unauthentic and bad Japanese food, this is the place to get it. The rice is hard and clearly some cheap form of short grain rice. Sushi did not look fresh. The miso soup is so salty. The tempura was so oily but probably the only thing that was edible. The grilled fish was burnt and dry. The chicken nabe stew was blend and chicken was dry. The ambience was what you expect. Just an average Japanese restaurant decor. Tight space. Nothing special. The waitress never smiled. Just took order and poured tea.

Two rolls of- a lobster roll and a special caterpillar roll, which was my favorite!

Wanted a quick lunch, ordered a couple sushi rolls to go. Had a lobster one and another fancy caterpillar roll, which I liked even more. The place was really cute. Wish I had time to eat in!

Gyoza

We had reservations at this restaurant and were seated immediately. It's a casual ambiance. We ordered the pork gyoza and three rolls - Diablo, Sabba-dabba-doo and the Venus roll. The rolls were good but messy, they could've been rolled a little tighter.

Came back again since we enjoyed our first visit! Unfortunately this time around the service lacked but the food was good. The rice was cooked perfectly and the fish portion was generous. We sat down and placed our order at 6:50 pm. We waited a bit and realized our appetizer still hasn't come in so we checked in with our server who said it was coming out shorty. At 7:35 we were given the appetizer and 5 minutes later all the sushi rolls and dishes we ordered. It took 45 minutes for the food to come out, which is fair given they were busy with to go ordered it seemed. But once that subsided I noticed tables who were seated before us started to get their food first. The lack of service in stating that it was going to take longer for the food to come out as well would have been appreciated. We don't mind waiting but I believe it's important to communicate with the customer that food may take longer so that we are not left looking around wondering what is going on. Overall, might have been a one off night and disappointed that I left feeling this way because the food was so good this time!

This place is a gem. One of the few good sushi options in the Napa valley. A small space but the food is spectacular and very reasonable.

Each step was curated in its own way with descriptions for anything we ate, origins, and the connection with the chef. Things started outside in a waiting area with an introductory drink and appetizer. Once things were ready to go inside, we were ushered in and had name places for each of our seats for the evening. If you needed to use the restroom there isn't one organic to the space and you had to go back into the main hallway. We were given 16 courses of fish listed on small chalkboards along the back wall, and then dessert to follow. Everything tasted delicious. My partner had gotten the sake tasting to go with it which added nicely with the food. My favorites for it were the tuna tail, miso steamed egg, hamachi, the shrimp, and the baby octopus. The tuna tail was such an interesting presentation, and the flavors were simple and clean. The miso steamed egg was just comfort. The hamachi melted with how it was prepped with each bite which was great. The shrimp was really fresh, and easy to bite through. The baby octopus tasted amazing, simply seared and was so easy to eat. A number of ingredients were flown in fresh, or from Japan as they added to the dish. The wasabi was also fresh but locally sourced from the US. It was amazing to hear all of the small details that went into each piece and the inspiration behind the dishes. Certainly, a beautiful experience and some of the best sushi also in the area.

And my taste are different differently different than others. There was something off about the kimchi... It just didn't taste like what I'm used to, but I mean that could be a restaurant thing. I was also thrown off by the macaroni salad. It also had no flavor. I really enjoyed the bean sprouts and wanted to get another serving but was told it was a sample serving and that they don't do more than that. I could pay two dollars m Overall, I think my biggest issue was that a lot of the food was much sweeter than I expected. I was especially surprised by the grilled shrimp because I never imagined it would taste that sweet. I'm not going to lie, I still ate everything because I paid for it and didn't want to waste the food. The highlight of the meal was the Love Boat sushi roll that they light on fire. Visually, it was really impressive and made for a fun presentation. Taste wise, though, it was just an average sushi roll. I couldn't tell that the fire added anything to the flavor. I didn't notice any smokiness or anything that elevated the dish, and I honestly think it would have tasted the same without the fire. For what I paid, I don't think the meal was worth it, so I probably wouldn't come back just for myself. That said, I can see why other people might enjoy it. I did really like the jalapeño on the sushi roll because it added a nice kick, so I would order that again. This is also one of the few times I've had Thai iced tea that was simply too sweet for my taste.

I don't care if it's fancy or simple... if it's good, I'll remember it forever. And somehow I'm still thinking about the vanilla ice cream with that warm fudge/chocolate sauce years later. It was so simple, but WOW... it had no business being that good. My bestie and I used to come here all the time, and this was one of our favorite spots. She moved to Virginia, so I haven't been back since, but I still randomly think about this place. That's how you know it made an impression. I also remember the burger being absolutely delicious, the drinks were great, and the atmosphere was perfect for hanging out and catching up for hours. They have also just completed an expansion and remodel which added more seating, and opened up the restaurant with a bit. They still use the iPad based ordering system which I always like, since it allows for better pacing. While before I praised them, this time left more to be desired. The sheen seems to have come off. Not sure if they changed chefs, but fish did not seem as fresh, sauces were a lot more heavy handed (overkill), and it just didn't feel as clean tasting as it used to. Maybe an off night, but not nearly as good as I remembered it to be. They have more cute robots now - and the bee decor makes it feel more like a proper restaurant. Though they have a wide menu - I would probably encourage sushi lovers to look elsewhere. The ramen, fried rice, dumplings and bento boxes are probably a stronger suit here now. They also seem to be doing a lot of take out service now as well.
