Honestly such a hidden gem in Santa Rosa. Haku Sushi and Hanbuk Korea BBQ sharing the same spot so you can literally order sushi and K-food at the same table (lifesaver if you're indecisive like me lol) Our grp of 4 got the medium Family Sashimi Boat from Haku and it was huge. The fish was thickly sliced, super fresh and it came with miso soup, combo tempura, and salmon kama (sooo fatty and good). We also ordered spider rolls (soft shell crab, crab, avo, masago) which had a nice crunch. And if you want something light, definitely get the jedi mind trick (no-rice roll wrapped in cucumber with salmon, tuna, hamachi, crab). Super refreshing and didn't leave me feeling bloated. Then, from Hanbuk restaurant, we got the ohjinguh bokkum (spicy stir fry squid). The fish was fresh, the portions were generous, and I really liked that it didn't come with too much rice, which allowed the sashimi to be the star of the dish. I want to preface this by saying I'm not a reviewer. I don't like to bring down any businesses, especially seemingly local and family-run ones; however, the treatment my partner and I received was downright unacceptable. After being seated, we did what anyone would do and browsed the menu. Since we're not from the area, it took us a while to decide. Our waitress stopped by a couple of times to check on us, offering recommendations and suggesting some appetizers to start with. My partner saw a menu item they were interested in but wanted to confirm whether it contained cheese. When they asked, the waitress insisted there was no cheese. Having decided, we ordered an eel-adjacent roll as well as their Lion King roll. A few minutes later, the food arrived. Everything looked good, except for one issue: my partner's roll (the Lion King) was covered in cheese. My partner immediately noticed and was thrown off. The waitress saw our reaction and asked if everything was okay. We asked for a moment, and she walked away. After trying to scrape off the cheese, my partner realized they wouldn't be able to eat it. We called the waitress over and asked if it could be remade without cheese. She seemed hesitant but said she would check. Shortly after, what appeared to be a manager or owner approached our table. I wish I had gotten her name, but she was wearing all white and a "Gucci" fanny pack. She asked what the issue was, and my partner explained that they couldn't have cheese and asked if the roll could be remade. Instead of reassuring us or apologizing for the inconvenience, the manager quickly began to belittle our "knowledge" of the dish. She explained that baked rolls traditionally have cheese on them. While that may be true, my partner had explicitly mentioned their dietary restriction and specifically asked about cheese beforehand. Whether that information was communicated from the waitress to the manager, I don't know. However, every time my partner tried to explain or ask a question, they were interrupted and cut off. The manager continued to say things like, "next time you should ask" and "that's not how we do things here." At this point, I was getting upset and suggested we could just send the rolls back and move on--no need to escalate things further. Before we could even get there, the manager said, "we do not do refunds of any kind; you will have to get a replacement." By that point, I had completely lost my appetite and felt embarrassed for even asking for a simple accommodation. I put my food down and told her it was fine--we would pay and leave. She walked away and later came back attempting to apologize, but the damage had already been done. Ironically, the tip selection on the receipt had been circled and underlined, as if insisting on a reward for this "great service." The item was eventually removed from our bill, but the service was so disrespectful that it didn't feel worth it. I want to make it absolutely clear that I do not believe the waitress was at fault in any way. Menus are extensive, and information can easily get lost in the fast pace of a restaurant--I understand this firsthand, having worked in the food industry myself. Our issue lies solely with the manager and how the situation was handled, not with the waitress. It's a real shame, as my partner and I had been genuinely looking forward to dining at this restaurant while planning our vacation. If you have any allergies, I would strongly advise exercising caution here. And if any issues arise, be aware that speaking up may not be met with understanding and could result in being belittled. read more

I am a bad yelper in that I eat it too fast to take pictures every time. The roll has perfectly crispy salmon skin, cucumber, and carrot and served over unagi sauce. So delicious I want to lick the plate. The 420 is amazing as well. The seared scallop is light, fresh, and perfectly seared while still keeping the integrity of the freshness. Previously I tried their Yuzu flavor which was deliciously tart with the best lemon flavor and during my latest instance I tried their Black Sesame flavor which was rich and comforting without being overly sweet. Haku Sushi is located in the heart of Santa Rosa. Being new to the area I am always on the hunt for a sushi spot, lucky I came across Haku. Parking can be a bit tricky on a busy day since street parking is always crazy but on not busy days it's a breeze and tons of open meter parking available, they also have a parking garage right across the street if needed. Service was great, the staff that helped me was very welcoming and gave me time to over look the menu and patiently waited till I was ready. The restaurant looked busy and I noticed tons of people also picking up orders to go. I finally placed my order and also got it to go so I can enjoy at home. Waited about 15/20 min and my food was ready. I did noticed not only is it a sushi restaurant they also have some type of Korean menu as well, so I feel like they offer more than just sushi but I didn't ask or explore to much more. Just make sure you come hungry, they do have a good selection to choose from. I ordered 3 rolls and some veggie tempura, I would say the prices are a bit higher than what I'm used to paying back home but I know inflation is real and everything in Sonoma County seems to cost more. Haku is one of our favorite restaurants in Santa Rosa. It has both Japanese/sushi and Korean and both sides are surprisingly very delicious. The decor is cozy and really nice! Reasonably priced and excellent tasting food, Haku is my best bang for my buck sushi restaurant in Sonoma County and it's the restaurant we've visited more than anywhere else in our three years living here. I give it even More props because it's one of the only restaurants in the area open past 9pm - massive appreciation for that. The service is always super nice. The kbbq is very good too when you want to splurge (it's only a la carte). And the dessert is solid and tasty (homemade unique ice creams with fried banana) and definitely is recommended. We love the 49er and Alaska roll (their salmon is great) and love the Dolsot Bibimbap. Their tempura is also great. He was told that the names of the sushi rolls were interesting, and they sure did not disappoint. We tried to get a few variety of rolls in terms of fish, and types. I just think them carrying out the trays with the liquid was scary because it was sloshing back and forth and if she had spilled it without noticing and lit other things on fire- that woulda been less fun, but more memorable I supppose.
