Alondra was my waitress and she is the absolute best. First time at sushi masa in Belmont Texas. This restaurant was huge and very pretty. I did the all can eat option for lunch which was $20.95. Lots to pick from and I was able to try a variety of things before I got full. My favorite was the masa roll, the yakitori, the Unagi. Alondra was my waitress and she was the best waiter ever! The restaurant is brand new but has a lot to improve. What stood out most was the service. We came in at 10:10 pm, as the websites stated the restaurant closes at 10:30 pm. They greeted us by stating we could be not order in five minutes. Since it's the only place open that time we complied, and ordered all drinks and food within 4 minutes. We sat at the bar. As we were waiting for the food and drinks, the service staff around us began their closing up routine, including placing dining chairs on the tables for sweeping and pulling out every single bar seat except the ones we were sitting in. The servers also loudly conversed about how "we're closing" as if to let us know that we aren't supposed to be there. But the restaurant is supposed to close at 10:30. They brought almost all our food out - they failed to make a salmon roe dish we had ordered. The food was so bland and not fresh, including the wasabi, which has no flavor at all. Even though we were sitting at the bar, they refused to let us order drinks, so we settled for a pot of tea to share. The tea tasted like hot water with lemon, not like Japanese green tea. The ladies' room has a bad smell to it. Kind of like sewage, which is strange for a bathroom which has supposedly just been cleaned for closing. The decor and ambiance would be nice if the rest of the experience weren't so unpleasant. I certainly won't go back and I would not recommend anyone else to go either. I recommend they change the closing time on their website and let customers know they can only order take out within half hour of closing instead of putting their guests in such an uncomfortable position to be eating while servers are sweeping under your feet. read more

Service could be improved tremendously. We (party of 4) arrived close to 1.5 hours before close and once we were sat at a table that's when the service ended. For almost 20 minutes every server, busser, & manager walked around our table while just cleaning tables around us; nobody asked for our drinks or even said "your server will be with you shortly." The restaurant was not busy at this time btw. We ended up getting up after 20 minutes of servers walking around us while they cleaned tables and took our business elsewhere. Edited to add: posted this on a review page, and many people said they always get hibachi chicken free for kids under 3. Looks like sushi masa isn't fair and treats guests differently. Just a warning to others that Sushi Masa doesn't actually follow their claim stating that kids under 3 eat free. Went for a birthday party tonight and asked the waitress to confirm if our 1 year old twins eat free. She stated they can do the "all you can eat" for free if they are under 3. So we told her we wanted to get them some hibachi chicken as their free meal. Well, when we got the check, we saw they still charged us $13 for their meal. We asked why they charged us for their meal when kids under 3 eat free, and they said the kid's hibachi chicken "isn't included" in the "all you can eat." When we ordered, we specified we wanted to do whatever chicken was included free for the kids. Of course a manager came over and was no help at all. They refused to take it off. Needless to say, no one from our large group will be going back to Sushi Masa again. Just warning others so this doesn't happen to anyone else. I have been here A couple times so far and I definitely plan to come back. Service is always quick and food always seems fresh. Being in the restaurant industry myself I probably notice a few more things than the average person but nothing that would not make me come back. It's never loud or over crowded so the atmosphere is always pleasant. I was a little disappointed in my rainbow roll as I'm used to them having a very colorful presentation and theirs, while it tasted fine, was very blah in appearance. Ordered the sushi lunch (not the all-you-can-eat) and the nigiri were small (about as wide as my pinky) and tasted on the edge of going bad. I asked if the size of the sushi was normal for this restaurant. They said yes so be prepared. Miso soup was watery with little miso. They have their own ginger dressing, but I prefer the ginger dressing common to other sushi restaurants in the area. This along with receiving a dirty glass and I'm not impressed. We had to ask for it again. And she still took three more orders before making my drink. She never did take our food order, she disappeared in the back somewhere and the bar back took our orders. A Hairy Situation, Handled Poorly From All You Can Eat to All I Can Stomach! I went to Sushi Masa in Beaumont for the all-you-can-eat experience. What I didn't expect was an all-you-can-eat-and-pull-a-hair-out-of-your-mouth experience. While enjoying my sushi, I bit into a roll and pulled a long hair out of my mouth--clearly rolled up inside the sushi. I immediately told my server, who sent over the manager. At least I think he was the manager. A man approached my table, never introduced himself or confirmed his role. He muttered, "I'm sorry," followed by, "If there's anything I can do, let me know"--while turning and walking away like he was in a rush to disappear. He was gone before I could even process what just happened, let alone respond. I felt like I was in a game of adult hide-and-seek, and I was "it." I told the server I lost my appetite and asked for my ticket. No discount. No apology. Full price. I wasn't expecting a free meal, but when you literally eat someone's hair, a good manager would at least act like they care--or comp part of the bill. I actually went back in just to ask his name (Tyler, by the way), because I couldn't let this go unmentioned. He showed no remorse, no accountability, and offered zero solutions. Honestly, he treated it like this happens every Tuesday. If the staff can't manage basic hygiene in the kitchen and the manager can't manage a 30-second conversation with a paying customer, it's not a place I'll ever return to. If you're in Beaumont you're better off going to MX Grill, Koi or Tokyo. The concept of the restaurant is cool and they're trying to provide some sort of "experience" and whilst they do all that... the food severely misses the mark. Average priced sushi for average taste.
