Nice looking place right in downtown Elmhurst. I went around 1 PM on a weekday and was the only person in there. The inside is nicely decorated and features 10-15 tables. There's also seating at the bar. The service was quick, but not accurate. I ordered the sushi lunch, but got the nigiri lunch. Both come with 6 california and then an assortment of Chef's selection. Miso Soup and Edamame come out with the meal. The soup didn't have much flavor and the edamame were cold (I'm used to warm). All in all, this is an average sushi restaurant with slightly above average prices. I am unsure about trying this place again. read more

My boyfriend and I had a delicious meal and a fantastic time at Sushi Nest. The service was above and beyond and, as others have mentioned, the details really set this place above the competition. I can't speak to how authentic their sushi is, but my taste buds give this place an enthusiastic endorsement. We had the red dragon roll, the volcano and the hand grenade, along with some tuna sashimi (I think?) and an eel-avacado-and-something roll. Everything was delicious - hard to pick a favorite, because they were all so well balanced. They offered us warm towels upon arrival, we ordered the house sake (hot) and plum wine (sweet, bordering on medicinal... but it grew on me), our waitress brought complementary edemame (my adorable, penny-pinching boyfriend's eyes lit up!), and our food came out looking more like art than dinner. Afterwards, we declined more food and they brought a complimentary mochi ice cream (in puff pastry) - delicious! I'm not that fond of sushi in general. I think I'd eat it more often if it were less expensive and more filling. This was a special surprise dinner for my boyfriend's birthday, because he does like sushi and he's more or less stopped requesting it because I'm usually an unwilling accomplice. Now that we've been to Sushi Nest, I don't think he'll have any trouble convincing me. This place is pretty pricey for the quality of sushi they serve. My husband and I came here for dinner. It is a cute little sushi restaurant. No complaints on the interior. The service was quick, too. Our food came really quick after we ordered. We ordered one of the udon dishes. It was okay. My husband thought the beef makes the broth taste a bit different, but it wasn't bad. We ordered 3 rolls and 8 nigiri pieces (salmon, hamachi, and tuna). The sushi rolls were just okay. The nigiri pieces could be better. We were not impressed with the nigiri at all - not juicy or buttery. The pro here is that they serve free edamame. The seaweed salad is pretty good. Sushi Nest is the place I go with co-workers at lunch. We love the complimentary soup and edimanes. The green tea is great. They have a sushi bar where you can watch the rolls being made. Yes, I actually went back again. The Good: We made reservations for 7 and were seated almost immediately. They serve water with cucumber, which I find very refreshing. After dinner, we stopped at a really cute boutique next door and I managed to get a bracelet, but that's another review. Unlike my previous visit, the seaweed wasn't as chewy this time. The Bad: When we were ready to order, we had to wait a while until our server came over. The restaurant was clearly understaffed. It was impossible not to notice how the servers were racing back and forth and taking/bringing orders. The prices are higher than usual, so be prepared to pay close to $15 for their "special" rolls and $6 or $7 for a basic tuna or salmon roll. Whoa! They jacked up their prices! Its been a while since we dined in at Sushi Nest but always had a great experience so when the wife and I had a craving and wanted to stay in town we figured we hop on over for a quiet sushi dinner. Only problem is they were packed...good for them...so it wasn't so quiet. Nevertheless, its a good atmosphere, service is usually pretty attentive and the Sushi is great. The fish is really fresh. We had spicy tuna, spicy salmon, unagi roll, some sort of spicy hamachi and the soft shell crab. Menu was pretty pricey compared to last time we had dinner there but I'm assuming prices have gone up on fish so I'll cut them some slack. As far as sushi places go, Sushi Nest is no good. They have the general sushi selection but most of the nigiri and maki selections shared three things in common. The freshness/quality of the fish is questionable, the size of the fish is questionable and the price is questionable - see where I'm going with this? The only reason to come here is if you live in the area and don't feel like driving to higher quality places (Maki Sushi, Inari Sushi). I find it amusing people appreciate it is always empty and tables are so easy to get.. I bet that has to do with the food being NO GOOD. Duh. read more

Sushi Nest is what my friend and I compare every sushi restaurant too. Lunch there is awesome complementary edamamie and miso soup. we love the Flamming roll, the volcano and the golden dragon roll. We are regulars on Friday and sit at the sushi bar. The chefs answer questions and give us samples of new fish we haven't tried. The food is always fresh the sushi is delicous. I love sushi nest! Everything is delicious and my favorite are Hawaii roll and flaming roll- to die for! The service is really good and the atmosphere is relaxing. They bring the order really fast and I always enjoy their complimentary starter. At least once a week I call to put a pick up order and they are always accurate with their timing (15 mins and I can pick it up) I have never had anything bad there and I tried everything they have except spicy stuff. The free edamame was a great start to a great meal. We had the Nest Boat (meant for 2 but shared with 3) and it was amazing. They give you big pieces of sashimi and you can taste how fresh the fish is. The rolls are very flavorful as well. Personally I am not a big fan of sushi. I have tried it many times in the past and have found I like the simple clean cut single fish or meat piece. I am not a mixed flavor roll fan. But the salmon roll was good. and there crab meat was tender and not dry. I would give this place 4.5 very sharp knives. The service was great. A friend and I went in to sit at the sushi bar and the chef talked to us for a while about random stuff. He seemed to love his job. And yes the free edamame bowl was nice too. They offer some alcohol and the beer selection isn't huge but the main focus is the food. I also ate the little chicken appetizer there and the sauce was very good. Negatives~ A little pricey but sushi usually is, sometime s a bit noisy in such a small place. I must admit I went here expecting mediocre service and food. It is in Elmhurst and people in Elmhurst do not eat in Elmhurst. As soon as we entered we were greeted by a most gracious host. We were seated & our server came by we ordered drinks. When she came back with our drinks. She preceded to go over things on the menu. I was impressed by her communication skills, she was definitely a college kid working her way through school. The rolls were average I ordered the Sashmi or something like that on recommendation of our server. It was so delicious. The servings were very generous. Unfortunately we had to meet some other friends at another location so we were not able to try more menu selections. I will say that I really enjoyed my experience here. I get that these times are tough and everyone is trying to adjust. But this issue is worth noting. Tonight we ordered take-out via GrubHub for Sushi Nest. We waited for our delivery, knowing that things would be very slow - understandable on a Saturday night with everyone stuck at home. After an hour plus waiting with the delivery window shifting later and later, I double checked to find out that Sushi Nest had inexplicably cancelled my order. When I called to find out what had happened, I was told that they were very busy so they had just cancelled my order. That's it. No call. No notification. Nothing. Just cancelled it. My poor GrubHub driver showed up to get the order, only to be told it had been cancelled. Such a waste of her time - I feel really bad for her. Anyway, if you are thinking of ordering Sushi Nest for take out or pickup, you may never get your food because they might just cancel your order without letting you know. read more

Living in the burbs, I'm always on the hunt for a good sushi place that doesn't require a long drive. There are a bunch of so so places around here that satisfy my cravings, but nothing as good as Japonais. So I decided to try Sushi Nest in downtown Elmhurst. Lots of people have told me it's their fav local spot. So here's the breakdown...... The fish is super fresh. It practically melted in my mouth. The restaurant is quite roomy and very classy. And they have a large booth in the front of the restaurant which would be great for a small party. I'd guess 8 would be comfortable. The Green Pear tea was divine. The prices weren't too bad. Typical of suburban places. I hate the special Red Dragon roll. It was ok. The spicy tuna was good. The roll with the smoked salmon was awesome. I forget the name. The sea bass was so fresh and tasted wonderful. If it's wasn't $4.50 for 2 pieces, I would have ordered 20. The service is great and they are very friendly. They also have carry out which is a perk. Overall it was a great dining experience. The bill for the 2 of us with a 4 roll order, the sea bass, and the tea was $50. I'd say it's #2 out of my local places. I'd go there again. read more

First time for me and my cousin. We were recommended to try the Poke Bowl. Great suggestion, with a few choices. The Poke sauce I would let people know, although tasty but on the spicy side. Personally, dishes are on the pricey side for what you get. I travel to various places/states with similar dishes and found this place a bit pricey! At a quality Sushi joint, I am able to eat "All you can eat,sushi " at the most for $27. Furthermore, I would suggest you offer an All you can eat for $20-25, and I guarantee you will get the business you would like. ( Just remember, once you do this; you received free consultation from this food connoisseur and I expect my meal free of charge anytime I stop in)! I really don't understand where these 4 star reviews are coming from. I should have seen the danger signs with the "this place is ok" reviews. What you have is fresh fish ruined with terrible execution. Gummy sushi rice, seaweed that is so moist you can't bite through it, a "spring" sashimi roll that has a distinct cardboard flavor. Went to every sushi place in the area and it's the only place that does justice to sushi. We moved from Chicago where we were spoiled with quality sushi but this place hits the spot.
