Service was beyond slow we were the only customers in the place Hunan Palace The menu was very limited for options they use fish sauce, shrimp paste and oyster sauce in everything it is pre-made Even for my husband who loves his shrimp lo mean, they gave him a hard time and upcharged for the slender noodles that he wanted They made both my veggie delight and his shrimp lo mein incorrectly and had to remake them both We were shirt on time and thus nonsense just added to the delay I would not recommend that anyone goes here Please see my photographs read more

Where's the beef? Beef dishes are overloaded with vegetables but not much beef! That aside, any beef is not tender and tasteless. Also, I had mentioned my concern to them but, no improvement. read more

This place has the BEST sweet & sour soup you have ever tried. Do yourself a favor and just get it. We started with an Appetizer Combo for Two which comes with Two huge crispy egg rolls, two crabmeat rangoon (lots of crabmeat - not overly cream cheesy), two Cantonese fried shrimp and two fried wonton strips (which we dipped in our soup.) We finally got the spicy beef with garlic sauce and the spicy did not disappoint. There were wonderfully cooked pieces of meat and huge broccoli florets. We ordered this all for pick up and they are clever and put a piece of cardboard at the bottom of the bag to help keep everything sorted well. I was also happy to see that unlike other to-go places, when we checked no cutlery needed, they did not put in plastic silverware that would have just gone to waste. Thank you! read more

I feel bad to post a review like this but this food wasn't good at all. The potstickers were very thick and dough-y not crispy and thin. The mild kung pao was too spicy but I could handle it, quality was not the greatest. read more

Me and my family have been coming here for years now. The food is unbeatable. To is so delicious. The owner and the lady in the front is so sweet and delivers amazing service. Everything about our order (for two) was sub par. The egg rolls were dry. The beef chop suey had no flavor, and the beef was tough like rubber. The shrimp egg foo yung had very little shrimp in it, was burned around the edges, and way too salty. We got only ONE small box of rice; with two small orders of food, should have gotten two small boxes or one large box. We did not finish the food, threw half of it away. Terrible. Ordered accidentally b/c this was on doordash and didn't realize it was a bit far from our Northbrook home and very happy we did! Everything was fresh and delicious. Asked for veggies to be added to the Shrimp lomein and rather than the load of cabbage and green peppers we get from other Chinese restaurants they added a nice mix of mushrooms, peapods and broccoli. Tasted like homemade noodles too! Egg foo young and other dishes were great as well. If they don't mind coming out this far - we don't mind ordering! read more

You can't beat the price for lunch. Including the meal, tax, tea, and tip ... $7. The problem - it still wasn't worth it. Don't get me wrong, the "palace" is pretty comfortable, better than East Wind down the block, but I was really disappointed with the food. I ordered the Hunan Beef, which, based on the name of the restaurant, should be their signature meal. I don't remember ever getting a tomato sauce as the base of this dish!? It's not at all what I expected. On top of that, it was exceedingly bland, even though I asked for it extra spicy. I really hate giving poor reviews, but if you're over in this area looking for Asian food, you may be better off driving down the street to Nathan's Noodles. The vegetable egg rolls are very good. Friendly staff as well. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food that is served.

Ordered take out tonight. It was so good. The Crab Rangoon is some of the best I've had. It was really crabby and not just cream cheese with a token amount of fake crab. This alone will keep me coming back. The Singapore noodles were delicious and the serving size is very generous. I have enough left for at least 2 more meals. I've lived in Elmhurst for the majority of my life. I first grew up on Elmhurst Chop Suey, on York Road, and then Number One Son, on North Avenue. Later, it was Red Dragon on First. Well, Elmhurst Chop Suey closed and Red Dragon changed hands, leaving no viable option for good Chinese take out, until Hunan Palace. Simply put: Well done Chinese dishes at reasonable prices with great delivery service. Tonight my order consisted of Hunan Beef, Ribs, Egg Rolls and Fried Rice. All done extremely well. I've been coming here for about eight years now. We tried all the Chinese restaurants in this area over time and settled on Hunan Palace. Very good portions on most choices. The food is very fresh and tasty each and every time. We only use the take out option cause we're close, but they do have about 7 tables for dining in. I've been driving by this place for years. Wow nice people, very reasonable prices. They have all the classic items. The Singapore noodles were very good. I got the hot and sour soup to go. It's enough for 3 people. Ok this isn't high quality I agree. But when you consider parking,price quality and quantity this place is hard to beat for the basics. read more

Love this place for the past 10 years! Great Food very nice people. We usually get the Vegetable Egg Foo Yong and the Vegetable fried rice. They are both Fire. Our family has been eating at this little Chinese restaurant for many years! I started eating there when I worked downtown Elmhurst in 1999. We continue because of the fresh ingredients, delicious food that is perfectly prepared. Not salty. Not bland. They honor requests for dietary reasons. They will even custom make a dish for you with your preference of meat and vegetables. There are two booths and 4 tables inside. The owners are truly nice people. It really deserves half a star, for the soup. VERY disappointed!!! The only thing decent in my order was the Sprite. The kung pao beef was not seasoned, drenched in a flour gravy, gross, and the fried rice tastes as if was fried (2) days ago. When I called to ask if I could get something else, to replace the meal, the lady acted as if she didn't care about the poor quality of food that was delivered to me.......I'm in town visiting, what a waste of money. Food was mediocre. I just moved back to Elmhurst from Chicago. The quality of Chinese food in Chicago is much better. Orange chicken was breaded way too much and was not crispy. The wonton soup was okay. We tried the appetizer combo which was overdone; crab ragoon and eggrolls were a little dry. The shrimp in the shrimp with lobster sauce was great but the lobster sauce tasted sort of like BBQ sauce. One thing I really enjoyed was the chicken lo mein.
