Having just returned from the trip to Japan, I was having a taste for Japanese food. I happened to be in a suburb far from where I live and had some time to kill so my mother-in-law and I headed over to Tsuki Sushi and Grill. We got really lucky with this amazing stand alone restaurant in Lombard. We walked into this cute, unassuming restaurant at around 1:30 for lunch. Interior is really simple and cute and they have options of all you can eat for $33 which is a great deal or à la carte. We chose à la carte as we weren't super hungry. We were so pleasantly surprised at the quality and amount of food that we were served. Everything was super fresh and delicious and there was so much food that we wound up taking some of it home. Presentation was also excellent. We started with the Tsuki sashimi appetizer and the seaweed salad and ended with the maki combination sushi platter. There were so many rolls on the plate and it probably could've served three people. The service that was great and the price was really reasonable. This is such a great find and a place that you really need to check out if you live in the area. We felt so lucky to have stumbled upon it! read more

Tsuki Grill has an excellent staff and a relaxing vibe. The AYCE menu is robust and super friendly to navigate and the sushi was incredible. It's rare to find an AYCE sushi place that still serves sashimi and Tsuki Grill does NOT disappoint. This is the definition of bottom of the barrel. Only came here because the storms knocked out the power of our beloved place that shall remain nameless because I don't want it crowded like this place. Where do we start!!! Waited two hours for one of our party of 3 to get their sushi. The only reason we waited is this person was going back to school and it was their last chance to eat sushi. Two of us did not receive our food at all. I stood up paid for one and left. I was not the only party who left. The place was under staffed the amount of sushi orders for 2 sushi makers was unreal. Multiple stacks of little pink slips. Yes 1:40 minutes later there were still tables that were sitting when we got there without food. The food! Unfrozen stale garbage, we only got gyoza and crab ragoo dumplings. You could taste the freezer burn in the food. Our college student the only one who got sushi after 1:40 minutes said it was ok. Please keep in mind they eat college cafeteria sushi. I was so upset and hungry along with other families we all paid for what we consumed and stormed out of there. The establishment is filthy, doors, floors and sushi area just plain disgusting. The bathrooms are just on par with gas station bathrooms. I could only imagine the kitchen. Bottom line... Bottom of the barrel food, establishment and service. If you want the cheapest sushi you can find this is the place for you. read more

Excellent service from Jeff. My brother goes in there weekly and always gets taken care of by this guy. Rolls are extremely fresh. I had a variety of the regular rolls. I had the sweet potato, the yellowtail onion, and the Boston roll. I also sampled a little of a roll that we split between the two of us, which was a Spicy crab roll. They also have wasabi and ginger for between rolls. Service was excellent, and prices were very reasonable, and honestly.. it's kind of a surprise that a town like this Lombard.. especially where its located ...has such a good Sushi place. Don't let the outside fool you. The food inside is tasty. Our server was Angel, and he was very soft-spoken but friendly. The restaurant offers appetizers and sushi, as well as noodles and teriyaki, which is nice. I had a taste for fried rice. The portion size was huge! Like a large bowl. It's definitely worth the price. As we ordered 4 sushi rolls, it came out on a boat. It was super cute! Sushi prices range from about 7.50 to $22 depending on what you get. Give them a try if in the Lombard area. Check their hours as they split their lunch/dinner shifts, it appears. I have a long, fraught history with sushi restaurants, so I'm sure the owners of Tsuki Sushi were quaking in their safety shoes when I came through the door the other night*. They needn't have worried. We were seated right away, and ordered edamame, gyoza, and some sake, all of which were very good. The soft shell crab tempura, however seemed a bit off, and probably should have been checked before it was breaded and fried. We then moved on to the sushi. Tsuki offers a fairly classic take on the classic rolls, with fresh ingredients, and clean flavors, carefully constructed. They also have a selection of signature rolls, with complex and innovative flavor combinations. We also ordered a nigiri sampler, which came with some of the largest fish slices I have seen in a sushi restaurant. The nigiri was super fresh, and very flavorful. My son isn't much of a sushi eater, so we got him the hibachi steak. It was very well seasoned and tender, and he ended up having to share it with the table. All this delicious food is served in a basic storefront restaurant, with bright colors and some Asian accents, very clean and comfortable. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food. The building and parking lot are small, but there's plenty of space inside. We must have gone on off hours. There was 1 server/host and 1 person making the rolls. We decided to try this sushi restaurant based on the pics and reviews. The exterior of the building is not much to look at but the interior is cute. It's a casual sushi spot that definitely cured my craving! Salmon nigiri- fresh, perfectly cut and delicious. Tsuki roll- yum!!! My favorite of all three we tried Phoenix- it was good... too similar to the Tsuki so I would get that again instead. Tropical roll- did not like this one. The sauce is sweet and no crunch. This was my first experience with eating sushi. My daughter was with and she loves sushi so she ordered and I ate a little of everything she chose off the menu. The presentation is very beautiful. Sadly, I didn't like much of what I tried. Not the restaurant's fault. Just me. My daughter was a bit disappointed but I told her "No, this was a wonderful experience I had with you that I will never experience again." The lunch specials are great and I highly recommend ordering a lunch special for pickup if you work from home or nearby. The sushi is consistently delicious with high quality fresh fish, a good selection of options, and skilled chefs. The staff is always friendly, but pickup times when doing takeout are often late, so just plan on waiting an extra 5-10min before picking up an order. The hours have gotten a little short and confusing recently, so definitely check the listing before driving over. I tried the previous place that used to be in that building called Sakura Sushi, and it was okay, nothing to rave about. It was sad that they had to shut down, but Tsuki Sushi took over and I was really excited! I saw a few people on Facebook mention that it was pretty good so I decided to try it out for carry out. My order consisted of a shrimp tempura roll, Phoenix Roll, Miso Soup, Tamago (Egg) Nigiri, and a Beef Yakisoba. The three rolls were super tasty and clearly had fresh ingredients. The miso soup was also flavorful and just what I was looking for. Moving onto the Yakisoba, I wasn't expecting too much since their menu was large and it doesn't seem to be their speciality, but I was wrong. It was delicious! The noodles were perfectly cooked and so was the beef as it was very tender! This will definitely be my new spot when I'm craving sushi. It's very unfortunate that the food is actually really good yet the service is THE WORST!!!! I don't know how the little boy that works there has a job at all. We've been there like 15 times it's because we love the food but this is the LAST time we will ever be going to this place because of the horrible service. The boy is always throwing the stuff to us from menus, the food, drinks, never picks up our plates or food has 0 common sense on basic service and manners and is extremely rude and disrespectful. He threw our menus and the drink menu to my 5 year old , spilled our drinks before for same reason of throwing stuff but the way he just throw the menu at my daughters face right now we walked out and going elsewhere. There is zero chance this is a 4.5 star restaurant. Food was decent, not great ( B-/C+). They bombard everything ( fried rice, hibachi veggies) with a ton of onions! Service was slow and barely ok. There were only 5 tables of people yet it took quite awhile ( like 45 mins) to get entrees, had to ask for water refills & had to flag someone down to place initial order. Prices are reasonable.
