While the food at Ni Hao is generally good, I do not recommend eating in at all. The service is terrible. Not so much the wait staff, but the kitchen. My husband ordered miso soup and and I ordered an egg roll for appetizers, then him a small amount of sushi and me an order of lettuce wraps. After 20 or so minutes, the sushi arrived - not a bad wait. Nothing came out for me to eat. He was nearly finished with his sushi when the miso finally arrived. Still no egg roll or lettuce wraps. Finally, the lettuce wraps arrived - with no serving spoon - and my husband watched me eat as he was long finished with his meal. We'd given up on the egg roll when just as we were about to leave, it finally came out. Twice we had to ask for water before we received any. It was beyond ridiculous. Good priced sushi often doesn't taste good but it does here. It has some pretty big ass rolls and you definitely get a lot. Ni Hao is one of a few places in Elmhurst to get sushi. Maybe they're not as good as before but they're still good. There's a few good choices for vegans and vegetarians. Came in recently and we got lunch. I knew we were getting sushi, but not sure what exactly so we looked the menu over. The one I picked was the Go Green Roll. It's $11 and humongous. This has avocados, cucumbers, fresh greens, inari, kampyo oshinko, shiitake inside, sweet soy, and tempura crunch on top. Has a few other items besides sushi, so you can still come if you don't want any. It includes sides like miso soup but there's fish broth in it. They still have many vegan friendly items including a few rolls. read more

Fantastic staff and prices. I was craving dumplings and got their 4-piece potstickers for $6.75 and was very happy with the purchase. I also got their lunch special, which includes a select entree, a side of rice (steamed/fried), an appetizer (egg roll/crab rangoon), and soup. I got their Mongolian beef which was super tender and flavorful. We also got their General Tso's chicken which was a 4.5/5. The best part is that the lunch special is only $10! It fed us for 2 meals. The waitress is so so so nice but literally all of the food just tastes like sugar/is canned or pre-made. It's cheap so if you're a college student that needs food it's definitely an option but not good for you at all. Arriving to pay for pricey, below average Asian was not at all what I expected. Combination Lo Mein - 1/5 Would not recommend under any circumstances. We threw it away. Chicken fried rice - 2/5 The chicken pieces were huge! The same size as pieces in Kung Pao chicken or a flat chicken nugget. Without question, this was poor execution. Would not order again. I was craving some Asian food but was far from my usual go-to. I gave this place a try and they had quite a lot of variety. Unfortunately, that was too good to be true. As this was my second meal of the day, I was ready to chow down, so I ordered a bit of everything. The food took quite some time, but that is to be expected for such a big order. This meal was also to go. The owner was cleaning up the sushi area when I had asked if he could make one of my dishes spicy to which he answered "of course my friend we can make it as spicy as you want". I ordered 3 bao: chicken, red bean, and seemed. They were great! Nice and warm, soft and chewy with just the right amount of filling. The godzilla roll had absolutely no flavor at all. There was no nuance of any texture. The rice was mushy, the "sauce" they put on was flavorless and had no depth. Just tasted like watery mayo and soy sauce. The lettuce wrap came with a generous portion of chicken that was seasoned..with enough salt to make the dead sea jealous. I literally could not finish it. It tasted like a mix of chicken thigh and breast but the flavor was off. You get 5 lettuce wraps but with the flavor being off the portion defeats the purpose. Finally the "spicy hunan chicken" was everything but spicy. It was a generic mix of chicken, broccoli, , and bell peppers. The sauce was a bit bland, soy sauce, vinegar, sugar and msg for taste. The rice helped sop up the excess liquid. I paid $50.59 and I feel a bit disappointed. The bao was good, the staff was friendly, and the location was clean. Bonus points for not forgetting plasticware but the overall flavor of the food did not satisfy my appetite. I did call the owner to let him know about the bland chicken to which he took down my name said would "watch out for me next time to make it right". Stay tuned for part 2. read more

This restaurant has really gone down in the past several trips. The key issue is poor service repeatedly due to not having the right staff. They really should consider closing part of the dining room when they don't have the staff to cover. What makes the situation so much worse is that food comes out randomly. Orange chicken is my favorite Chinese dish. But at No Hao it tastes like they prep the chicken a week beforehand. I've given them a lot of tries because 2 out of the 6 times the food was fantastic. I've been legit waiting for this place to open for almost a year. Standing in front of Elmhurst Metra station, I've stared at the "Coming in Spring 2018" every morning and speculated what exactly was coming to this Asian restaurant-deprived suburb. It finally opened and I tried it as soon as I could. The semi-bad news is that the menu is mainly your typical Chinese take-out stuff. The good news is that the food they serve is prepared really well. They also dabble into food items that aren't as common around here parts (steam buns, good quality dumplings that are worth getting and bubble tea). I ordered the lunch Hunan beef, which had your typical brown sauce, only with a lot less salt and prepared with a decent quality of beef. The rice was also cooked really nicely. But the thing that I liked the most was the veggie spring roll which was huge, perfectly fried and so very tasty. I wish I ordered more of those rather than their hot and sour soup that had good amount of ingredients but it was not remotely sour. One thing that was a bit confusing to me was that the restaurant is somewhere between a sit down restaurant and a takeout restaurant. I got my soup in a to-go container but the meal came on a real plate yet was served with plastic ware. The condiments were all in packages and as of right now, they had canned drinks if you dine in. And because the atmosphere doesn't really invite you to sit and stay, I decided against the sushi for now as I like to watch someone prepare my sushi versus having it appear in a box to take home. I did try their Jasmine milk tea and it was good for Elmhurst. And because I'm always searching for good Chinese takeout with great service, I know I'll be back here. Great new Asian Cafe in Elmhurst. Bright & airy interior. Super friendly owner. I had their hot & sour soup. Very good, & I love hot & sour soup. Crab Rangoon quite good with lots of filling. We ordered one of their Chef's Specials, Chef Treasure; Beef, shrimp BBQ pork & chicken in a very tasty brown garlic sauce. A lot of brown garlic sauces are usually heavy & gravy-like. Not this one, it's light and super flavorful. I'm sure I'll be back to try more. P.S. they were having problems with their phone today. Hopefully it'll get fixed soon. I'm a fan so far! Brand new place in Elmhurst with Chinese and Japanese menu items (a full menuful of each). Super friendly staff. I had the potstickers which are the size of a small child and the chicken chow fun (flat noodles with veggies). I personally could have used a bit more spice but overall the sauces and flavor were great. I'm excited to try more and especially come back for the sushi. The ambiance is more casual that most suburban Chinese joints but it's also less pricey. I think it fits in great with the existing restaurants in the area. Food comes the ready to take home boxes which only makes perfect sense to me. I had plenty to take home. read more

My family and I liked it. No "secret" menu for people who grew up on authentic Chinese food (also lived near Argyle Street Chinatown for a decade), but I special requested a dish or two (fish fillet with Chinese Broccoli, chow fun with beef Chinese broccoli, etc) and they'll do it. If you're in town and not willing to drive all the way to Westmont, Naperville or Chinatown, this is pretty good. We had a great time at Ni Hao Cafe. The crab Rangoons were a great starter - all were crispy and stuffed with crab filling. The egg rolls had good texture but not as tasty as some other egg rolls I've had. Maybe it needed more freshness to it. Each of us ordered the sweet and sour chicken, Szechuan beef, and Japanese udon noodles. They were all great! I like my food spicy so I asked for spice in my udon noodles which was a great addition to the dish. Will come back soon! read more

Chose here over another restaurant around the block due to ratings. Just no good. Worst Chinese I've ever had. Had chicken with vegetables in brown sauce. Chicken had a funny taste and the brown sauce wasn't flavorful and it was watery. Egg roll was gross. It was like a brown paste, 2 bites and I just couldn't take another. There is always a positive, the prepackaged fortune cookies were up to par. ;) We'll be going around the block in the future. read more

Tried to do a sushi lunch today and after a couple of calls just gave up. This place rocks! It's a hidden gem! It was my first time ordering and I have to say I'm quite impressed. I ordered two sushi rolls and they were phenomenal. The fish was fresh and the rolls were simply Delicious. My husband and son ordered typical Chinese dishes and both were happy with their selections ( I believe they had chow fun and Singapore noodles). We also ordered mango smoothies with tapioca and those didn't disappoint either. The venue itself is very clean with updated, modern decor. A great place for brunch or dinner with friends. I ordered food from here the other night and it was adequate.. lacked any real taste... i dumped some soy sauce on to try to pick it up....I will try them out again and see what happens... New star in elm wood park or Yu's in Schaumburg are much better Second try at take out . Much better! Although the menu said crispy noodles and none were in the order. Just lottsa white rice. Ordered : Crab rangoon- very tasty, lots of filling and surprisingly still crunchy for takeaway. Avocado roll- nothing to write home about, very small in size and wasabi included was not even spicy...how is that? Veggie Delight - vegetarian (substitute white rice over brown). Daughter thought the vegetables had a strange cornstarch goopy sauce to them, not a lot of flavor. Her white rice was dry, in all not tasty. Chicken udon- we asked for it to be spicy, which it was, not too much just right. Good noodles, not mushy. Veggie Lo Mein- Noodles were cooked right, not mushy. I am pretty sure I have tried every Chinese spot in the area and I can say without a doubt, Ni Hao is THE BEST. As a matter of fact, its not even close. During my quest, I discovered that the Chinese food around this area is pretty lackluster. I even got violently ill on two seperate occassions. But Ni Hao is the real deal.
