    Volcano Roll City

When hanging with friends, I always try to take their recommendations for dinner because it usually leads me to places they genuinely adore. I got to hang out with one of my friends from college who was in town for winter break in the Round Rock area, and he suggested Sushi NiNi for dinner. We arrived around 6:30 pm during their extended happy hour, which lasts until 7 pm, and were seated immediately. I very rarely eat sushi, but I have enjoyed what I've had in the past. As my friends ordered, they clearly knew what they were doing, so I followed their lead. One friend ordered a Spider Roll, while my other friend ordered nigiri of the salmon and snapper along with a Volcano Roll. I copied him. The nigiri was great, but I really enjoyed the flavor and kick from the Volcano Roll. The spicy mayo and jalapeños added a nice heat and balanced well with the shrimp. I also liked the crunch. After that, I sent in another order to try the nigiri of the grilled eel, which was heavenly. I have never had eel before, and it absolutely floored me with its flavor. I could easily eat five orders of it. The staff was attentive throughout our visit. One staff member somehow accidentally served my friend a glass of soy sauce instead of unsweetened tea, which was absolutely hilarious to me, so I don't really have anything to complain about. I have no idea how that mix-up happened, but maybe the soy sauce refill container looks similar to their tea containers and sits nearby. Either way, it was very funny. I hope to return to Sushi NiNi in the future because the sushi was excellent and fairly priced. I don't think I paid over $30 for everything I ordered, and it all tasted fresh and well prepared. They do it right here. For being all seafood, it's not too fishy. RIYL: Good sushi for a good price

I've been coming here for 7 years and every time they deliver great service with great food. They have a solid bar selection with great music.

No complaints here. The service we were provided was outstanding. Our server even asked if I were sharing my hot sake with her. But seriously, all the dishes we ordered were delicious from the tako yaki, chicken karaage, agadashi tofu to the sushi. It was all above par. Though they were quite busy, even for a Tuesday night, quality in everything did not diminish! Thank you, Sushi Nini, for making my birthday dinner a memorable one.

Good vibes, lots of sushi options! Great place to talk with friends. They sushi here is not overly mind blowing but it definitely hits the spot. I wish they would bring back their happy hour! Would get lots of my business that way.

Enjoyed lunch other patio twice now. Their lunch specials are excellent, their service is great, and the fish is fresh. Today I tried a chirashi bowl ($30). I usually get this at most sushi places and didn't have the highest expectation but it was excellent, unique, had delicious seasoned rice, and the pieces of fish were large. I would 100% get this again! Their tempura is always fried perfectly too. Never greasy. A+ experience.

Their rolls are yummy and unique! Their menu is pretty big, but the servers have good recs if you let them know your preferences. Service was very friendly and fast. Casual dining and they play sports on the TVs. I recommend!

Me and my daughter shared the Nini roll fried and cut, and the escolar was by far the best thing we ate that night which we had 3 orders of it! Every thing was amazing!

I came here because I really wanted sushi and my normal place was too far. This place had good reviews and is near my house. I was seated quickly, and read the many options. Maybe I didn't choose the best rolls but the sushi was just ok. I also got seaweed salad, sake, and lychee martini all of which I've had better versions of. There was a football game playing in the background and the waiters were distracted by this so they were not as attentive as they could have been. I would try this place again to see if there were better/other sushi rolls I may like as they do have so many options, but I would skip the appetizers and drinks.

I recently went here with a friend. I had been wanting some good sushi and she took me here. It was pretty chill when we first got there. Not too many people even though it was happy hour . Our appetizers were amazing! The boat contains a variety of different options just can't remember them lol. It was soooooooooooo delicious! We couldn't even finish the whole thing! I got lucky to take tit home to have later. The service was good as well. Our waitress was attentive and helped me. I can't wait to go back !

Our second time here. Loved the first time. Second time was average. The Mango nada sushi didn't have the ki kick like the first time we tried it. Kids got chicken teriyaki udon which was extremely average. Tempura was great!

So yummy tasty! Very fair lunch and dinner specials with reasonable prices on regular hour sushi's. Avocado bomb is my favorite. The marked spicy rolls aren't very spicy but I like heat so that could just be me. The servers are so kind and attentive. I misunderstood the NiNi Roll and the NiNi California roll so be sure to look closer because I didn't :p Nini California Roll is still super good Rolls here are pretty big! This place has Tv's everywhere and a sushi bar and also a standard bar. It's cute and they play nice music if spots isn't on.

I can't get enough of sushi nini! I'm glad they have added a few things to the menu! I ordered to go this time and it did not disappoint. I had the TNT roll 5/5 - this roll had all the textures flavors and sauces I enjoy! The fiesta roll is my new go too! 5/5 The geisha roll 4/5 - had a bit of an odd flavor but still pretty good. Asparagus roll 5/5 there's not much to it but still very good and great price point! The food was ready quickly after I ordered there was no waiting around after I arrived. The staff at the front is always great and quick to do what's needed for their guests.

    The have re-opened.

Still closed as of 2/28/2022. When will they open?

They should be open soon.. I know people who work for the company that manufactured their new kitchen hood system... it's been installed and inspected.. expect to open soon... can't wait!!!!

Will they be reopening? The phone lines are now disconnected

    They are reopened

    Are they back open?

No, just drove by and the inside is gutted. It does appear they're working on it though.

    When will it reopen?

Does this place have any good LUNCH specials or specials in general?

They have great appetizer/miso/salad/sushi lunch specials - I think around $10. They also have great bento box deals, but I never ordered that. I usually stick with the miso soup, veggie tempura and sushi for $10.

We ordered the turkey club sandwich with waffle fries for the side. The sandwich was pretty yummy but the fries were a bit over cooked but still ate them. Plenty of outdoor tvs and you can hear the sports on the tv so much appreciated to get a good drink and watch sports. The venue is clean, large open spaces, big drink menu so any beer and cocktail they got it. For me the location, how clean the inside and outside was, the fun factor is a solid 10/10. Great overall atmosphere. I will say the let down is some of the food items, it needs help. I only took pictures of the fish n chips meal but I ordered fried pickles, had a few wings, chips and dip, and egg rolls. The egg rolls are nice and crunchy, it had a corn and bean interior, nice warm with the extra crispy exterior. Good ranch dipping sauce. The wings are also good, crispy exterior nice fluffy chicken interior, it's not the best wings I've had but also not the worst. The flavor menu is a little short so you're not going to get a ton to choose from. The chips and salsa, the queso is amazing. Nice creamy, thick, cheese flavor, the salsa is nice and semi chunky. Both hold on to chips but the chips we got were ultra stale. I mean rock hard. We asked for new chips and luckily the new chips were fresh. The let down had to be the fish and chips. The batter was too thick, the batter also was still raw. The cod is nice and semi thick, still cooked all the way but since the batter was soo thick, it didn't have that crisp factor the crunchy flavor was gone, it didn't have the crispy exterior. In the pictures you'll see how thick it was. The waffle fries were ok, not the best not the worst just in the middle, still crispy but it was semi cold when we got them.

I am so torn on this place. My friends and I were looking for a cute spot for a moms night out…read more(just 3 of us). We decided to make a reservation at Odds Bar and give it a try. Arrived right on time and the parking lot was PACKED, though the restaurant appeared nearly empty except for a loud networking event going on in a devoted side room open to the main area. No one at the desk to greet us, just a sign to seat ourselves, so we did. Guess reservations don't really matter? It was quite a while before anyone approached us, but when a server finally came he was very nice and helpful. We ordered drinks and entrees. It took an ABSURD amount of time before the drinks came out...maybe because of the event? Not sure. The bar and restaurant seemed nearly empty otherwise and the bartender didn't look busy or rushed at all. Luckily we had intended to make a night of it, so we were able to wait. It was hard to hear each other talk, though, due to the networking event. When the drinks finally came, mine was AMAZING. Like, one of the best drinks I've had in Austin, and maybe one of the best of my life? Weeks later I'm still thinking about it. I got the Going Bananas and it was simple perfection. The food also took a while to come out, but at least we had drinks to tide us over. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and was disappointed. The toppings were spare and didn't offer much to elevate the dish, and the chicken itself, while tasty, was very dry in parts, to the extent where I was dipping it in ketchup to get it to go down easy. The bun and fries were good. Our server seemed to have evaporated into thin air after delivering food, so we had no water refills and had to vye for attention to pay the check. Eventually the bartender came and helped us pay, and seemed terse and annoyed when we asked to split our check. (Three middle-aged women...seems more likely a split than combined?) All in all, we were there about 3 hours total, mostly because service took so long. Such a bizarre experience. I would NOT come here if you are on any kind of timeline. The only way I'll come back is to sit at the bar and have drinks only.

Our server was Chase, who was very knowledgeable about the menu and took ownership of the whole experience. You can tell he enjoys being there. I got the off-menu All Day English Breakfast, which - shut the front door - was the best I've had in the Austin area. No puddings, and regular bacon instead of rashers, but otherwise super traditional and fantastic. The bangers stood out - YUM. We also got some candied bacon for fun which made the whole meal even more excessive, haha. It was superb, and a generous portion that the two of us easily shared. I'm hooked.
