This restaurant is conveniently located down the street and decided to try it for a late lunch. It was not very busy at 1-1:30 with maybe a few tables. I asked if there were any recommendations in comparison to Japanese vs Korean on their menu. My wait staff mentioned the owner was Korean so I chose that route. She recommended the spicy pork bento box if I liked spicy and went with that. The food arrived very quickly. Portions were very fulfilling and packed the leftovers. The tempura vegetables were crisp but not very flavorful with the batter, their dipping sauce is definitely needed. The salad dressing was a refreshing orange citrus flavor with the basic California rolls. The pork bulgogi was plentiful, tender, juicy and flavorful. Lunch specials are reasonable based on the quantity of food that is given. If not, it would be considered pricey. I was really disappointed with my experience. The prices felt a little high, but that wasn't even the worst part. The waitress was rude and completely inattentive. The restaurant was nearly empty--just me (and my one year old) and one other table with an older couple--so there was no excuse for the lack of service. The one by the front door has two fish which are nearly dead, not a pleasant experience when you are dining. If they're not going to keep them up, they should take them out. Normally the service is good but tonight it was incredibly slow! It may be a while before we're back which is sad because it's so close and convenient. We visited this restaurant because we were staying nearby. If you go to this restaurant, I would recommend trying the sushi, hibachi, or anything else that does not need much seasoning. The sushi we had was great, so no complaints about that! However, the ramen we had was sad. The broth was not very flavorful, and the toppings in the ramen were bizarre. It's not very common to see green/red bell peppers and bella mushrooms in the ramen. Maybe shiitake or shimeji mushrooms would have been more appropriate. Good ramen broth requires a long cooking time, so any restaurant not specializing in it may not have the time to cook it well. She said "we actually stop taking orders at 8:30" I asked if the hours changed, and she just said "thank you" and motioned her hand towards the door, implying that it was time to leave. I understand that some restaurants are struggling with Covid staffing. But I didn't feel like we behaved rudely and politely walked away when asked to leave. Stopped in for an early dinner and was impressed by the subdued decor and relative quiet. (It seems to be an ever-growing trend for sushi places to 'pump up the energy' of a place with raucous music.) Service was on point, and both the rainbow roll as well as the unagi and tobiko were excellent. A couple of odd notes made me scratch my head. The wasabi was relatively flat - how do you do that with horseradish? - and the tempura dish was edible, if strange. Rather than doing straight tempura, it seems to be a combination of tempura and panko breading. This leads to a heavier, thicker batter coating the calamari rings and the veggies. It's not bad, but it does give one pause. On the whole, a very good sushi bar, definitely worth a visit if you're in the Cedar Park area. This place scores a 4 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. I am giving this place 3 stars for the food but the service does not deserve any stars. I do not know if we just came at a really bad time but there weren't many people in the restaurant and the staff seemed like they were more interested in their food at neighboring table. I understand that the staff needs to have a break and eat lunch, but as a business, you should ensure that your customers are taken care of beforehand. Thankfully when they were done eating we received more service and attention and no longer had to get up and walk over to them for service.... The food though was very mediocre compared to sushi I had a few days earlier in The Domain. I ordered crunchy roll and was not thrilled with their "crunchy" red topping. My other roll was shrimp tempura and the pieces were so big I could barely fit in my mouth to eat. To make it worse I couldn't bite through the nori on the outside of the roll so not o oh did I have this huge piece of sushi in my mouth I felt like I was choking trying to get it apart to swallow. I don't understand how this place has 4 stars. We have been here 4 times in the last 1.5 years. We keep trying and hoping for a different outcome because good Asian food is hard to find in this area. This go round we ordered tonkatsu & katsu ramen. The ramen tasted like they put a salt lick in the broth. Maybe someone dropped the salt shaker in it. The tonkatsu was dry, and they gave us a side of ketchup mixed with bbq sauce instead of katsu sauce. We have had the sushi/sashimi here and it tastes like old fish, it's chewy.
