Unlike many restaurants, soup and salad were served with the yakisoba entree and overall this made the meal a good value. Overall we were pleasantly surprised to have leftovers and a reasonable bill. The dining room is large and nicely decorated. Servers were attentive and friendly. Thomas was our main server and he took great care of us. Our order of edamame, sushi, a special roll, and uni was just exquisite. There is absolutely no need to add soy sauce or wasabi to your fish. They do offer wine, beer, and a good selection of sake. Service exceeded our expectations, and suggestions and descriptions were extremely helpful. I did like that warm towels were provided before our dinner. They also offer an Omakase dining experience. I also checked out the appetizer menu and decided to try the curry pancake. The boxed Chicken Katsu came out piping hot. It was still a generous portion of chicken layered over rice. When I saw the side compartment, I paused for a second and thought, is that soup? Then I realized it was actually the onion, egg, and soy mixture that goes with donburi. I did not know it would be packed separately, so I was not especially careful with the container and a little of it spilled into the bag. That said, I really applaud this place for separating it. It kept the chicken katsu crispy and the rice dry and fluffy until I was ready to eat. The curry pancake was different from what I expected, but in a pleasant way. It was not filled with curry or mixed into the dough. Instead, it was a hot, crispy, flaky Asian-style pancake with a texture similar to a scallion pancake, served with a curry dipping sauce. The curry had a bold and flavorful profile. It was not thick but nor sweet as the usual Japanese curry block sauces, as I was expeecting since it is a japnese themeed place. Te curry to me tatded more indian curry stlye, a bit spicy and a strong but it had a strong savory depth. Because of the texure closer to a desn flavor croth it did not cling to the pancake as much, not like how naan would scoopt up the curry, but it still paired very well, and works nice with the katsu, too! This is a great celebration place, as the grill/table seats 8-10 people. They make a big deal out of special occasions--they've banged a gong and had us pose with a katana for a birthday picture. All hibachi entrees are cooked on the grill in front of you. There are several proteins to choose from: chicken, scallops, shrimp, lobster, and various cuts of beef. The dinner entrees also include soup, salad, mixed vegetables, and two shrimp. Upgrade your rice to fried rice for an additional charge--must not miss. There is also a 10 and under kids menu with generous portions and great prices. Generally, there are three chefs that rotate amongst the tables. They each put on a show--flipping and tossing utensils and one of the chefs adds quite a bit of comedy and another level of skill. They also have everyone try to catch bits of shrimp that are launched through the air. Unfortunately, one of the chefs, who has been there for years, comes across as disinterested and, to make it worse, he doesn't season the food very much, so it comes out bland.
