    Chicken Karaage Don
    Carrie M.

I had the Tori no Karaage Don, and the chicken karaage with white rice was really tasty. The chicken was moist and flavourful. However, it came with a side salad which was lettuce coated in ginger, and the taste was quite unpleasant. I tried to eat as much of it as I could, but I couldn't stomach it. $16 for the rice bowl was steep considering how simple it was as there was only white rice and chicken in the bowl with no vegetables and a meager side salad. I got my order for takeout, and the soup spilled only after a few minutes of sitting upright in my car. When I got home, there was only about 1/8 left of the soup at the bottom of the container, which was really sad. The little that I had tasted good though. I think their soup packaging could be improved because the container was sealed the whole time. To be honest, the worst part of my experience was waiting for my food. They gave me a buzzer, so I kept walking around the food court while eyeing this stall, and the buzzer never rang. I eventually came back after 30 minutes and asked. The cashier was very apologetic and said the buzzer was probably broken, and the food had been ready for a long time. I just felt like I had wasted so much time and also didn't want to come back asking if they were just taking a long time to make it. I know it wasn't their fault, but it was a big inconvenience.

    Tuna sushi

A friend and I went to H Mart for a Yelp event at Beard Papa's. We got there a little early and searched around for a place to grab a quick bite before having the cream puffs. I chose Umami St. Sushi because I just wanted something simple and inexpensive. The tray of eight tuna sushi rolls for the bill perfectly! There was no waiting involved. The sushi was ready to eat. It was simple and tasty. Since it's only a counter, there is not much ambiance to report. Though the area is nice and clean.

    Tempura udon
    Briana N.

Normally I would want to try the sushi or the rice bowls here, simply off of the name "Sushi & Donburi" but I was really craving some udon, so I tried the Tempura udon instead. The broth was pretty light with a slight sweetness, so I was a big fan of that. The noodles are nice and bouncy, and the tempura has a good variety of options. But I do wish the egg was a little jammier and the tempura was kind of greasy. Literally just touching it, would put a sheen of oil on my fingertips. And it started making me feel greasy in the way you feel gross when you eat too much oil. That being said lol, I would still come back to try their sushi and rice bowls. Or even their seafood option might be a better bet, because it's all the same things but without the tempura.

Needed a quick snack after a pretty rigorous workout, so iI stopped by Umami, in the HMart complex for sushi. I chose shrimp sushi. The cashier was super efficient and provided great service. It's a counter where you great you're food and go. There is seating in the food court to sit and eat, however, I ate in my car. The sushi was tasty.

Stellar walk up and order sushi located in the H Mart food court. High quality and reasonably priced!

Second time here! The salmon bento was perfect. Though I prefer sashimi, their sushi was fresh. The rice was perfect. I'm not suppose to eat white rice only brown rice but when I do, it's from Umami. Service was made to order so it's nice and warm and fresh. Nice decoration even in a food square environment!

    Spicy BBQ Buta Don
    Brian C.

The spicy butadon is now one of my favorite meals in the whole food court! The charred flavor is subtle but adds a layer of complexity to the meat. The spice level is manageable but adds a great overall flavor. It comes with miso soup and salad as well. I'll have to try the sushi next time.

    Unagi Bento

We were told they absolutely could, just let the server know when we arrive. We were seated, and let the server know right away. He immediately responded with a heavy negative tone saying that he wish they would have told him ahead of time. The entire meal he seemed put off that we had special requests, and only seemed to change his tone when we were close to paying. Simply based on how he treated the situation, we won't be back. Too many places out there that are more accommodating and understanding.

I must have driven by this restaurant whenever I was on Parmer for like 15 years ... and never got…read morearound to going in. When I finally did, I discovered one of the best Japanese restaurants in Austin. Okay ... if you are going to pay $600 for an omikase then the omikase place is better. The tasting menu at Uchi is better. But if you just want Japanese without paying a gold brick and taking out a second mortgage on your house, Miyo Yakitori and Sushi is pretty damm fine. * * * a) Japanese curry is a utility dish in most Japanese restaurants ... and when you get down to it, in most Japanese homes. It is often what you serve on "cheap" night. Airport hotels offer it as the "free dinner" for tired travellers. The curry sauce itself here is standard issue. But they serve it with a Pork Katsu the size of Williamson county. And it is a very good Pork Katsu. That Katsu was good from Liberty Hill to Thrall and from Hester's Crossing to Jarrell. b) My carnivorous partner's Fireball Udon with Shellfish blew him away. Temperature wise and aesthetic pleasure wise. He raved about how good his udon was all the way home. c) Service was instantaneous. I think there was some sort of event horizon distortion of the space time continuum that allowed them to prepare the food and then go back in time and deliver it within a minute of it being ordered. Both of us were impressed. d) The service staff was as nice as any human beings could possibly be. * * * Great food. Great service. The folks who live in the apartment complex that Miyo is in are very lucky people indeed. Either the apartments are lovely and they get Miyo on top of that. Or the apartments are terrible, but they can still spend all their time in Miyo to compensate. Seems like a fair trade. **************** If you read the other reviews, There seems to be some controversy about this establishment. Miyo has fans and Miyo has haters. * * * Here is my read on the conflicting opinions: a) Earlier in the restaurant's history - Say about 2016, 17, or 18, The restaurant was not very good at all. I think at that time it had another name. b) There was a name change and quality went up. Sometimes when this happens there is an ownership change (or there is an owner who swaps out the management and cooking team to put in new blood.) However, things got fixed, they got fixed. c) Miyo's yakitori is apparently still not where it needs to be. I am not a huge Yakitori fan. If your broiled meat on a stick is not $80 an ounce Wagyu, Or amazing organ meats grilled in the Caucasus Barded with lamb fat and with farm fresh vegetables On another skewer for serious taste contrast ... If you are not at that high level, I don't want to pay for meat on a skewer. There are people who DO like Yakitori. They do NOT like the Miyo versions of that. * * * Yakitori is less than 20% of Miyo's menu. The rest is sushi or wonderful cooked dishes. Lay off the skewer food and you can do well here.

By far this is the best calamari we've eaten (and we test it at every Asian restaurant). Large selection of rolls and ala carte sushi and sashimi- we filled up before the yakisoba came out. Huge serving of chicken was served with the noodles, which were prepared to order with chili paste to make them perfectly extra spicy. Unlike many restaurants, soup and salad were served with the yakisoba entree and overall this made the meal a good value. Overall we were pleasantly surprised to have leftovers and a reasonable bill. The dining room is large and nicely decorated. Servers were attentive and friendly. Thomas was our main server and he took great care of us. We ordered the soft shell crab but was disappointed which is why it was only 4 stars. It was so heavily battered that we couldn't even taste the crab itself. I'd say to do a light batter for this before frying. The best part of a soft shell crab is the taste of the crab not the batter. But all in all I'd come back!

Came to Don Don Express again, but this time for takeout!…read more I already knew I wanted the Chicken Katsu again after a really great experience last time. I also checked out the appetizer menu and decided to try the curry pancake. The boxed Chicken Katsu came out piping hot. It was still a generous portion of chicken layered over rice. When I saw the side compartment, I paused for a second and thought, is that soup? Then I realized it was actually the onion, egg, and soy mixture that goes with donburi. I did not know it would be packed separately, so I was not especially careful with the container and a little of it spilled into the bag. That said, I really applaud this place for separating it. It kept the chicken katsu crispy and the rice dry and fluffy until I was ready to eat. The curry pancake was different from what I expected, but in a pleasant way. It was not filled with curry or mixed into the dough. Instead, it was a hot, crispy, flaky Asian-style pancake with a texture similar to a scallion pancake, served with a curry dipping sauce. The curry had a bold and flavorful profile. It was not thick but nor sweet as the usual Japanese curry block sauces, as I was expeecting since it is a japnese themeed place. Te curry to me tatded more indian curry stlye, a bit spicy and a strong but it had a strong savory depth. Because of the texure closer to a desn flavor croth it did not cling to the pancake as much, not like how naan would scoopt up the curry, but it still paired very well, and works nice with the katsu, too! Very happy with this meal and definitely excited to return again.
