This location, however, has plenty of parking and ample indoor seating, making it much more comfortable and convenient. We've visited this location about four times already, and Greg has been our server every time. No matter how many dishes we order or how demanding our table may be, he has always been attentive and professional. We came here the day before 4th of July weekend, so it was pretty empty when we came and left.... Which was perfectly fine for us! Our server, Mandy, did an exceptional job... From taking our orders to bringing our food. She even customized some of our rolls without any issues. The food itself was okay. We don't eat raw sushi or anything with yellowtail, tuna, salmon, etc. So we didn't have as many choices. The price itself was great compared to msoe AYCE sushi spots (23.95 which is not yet updated on their menus or website or with the employees). Walked in during lunch time and it was really busy. The servers were kind and helpful, despite all of the busyness of the rush. The restaurant was pretty clean and not littered with random decor. I was a little confused about the hot food bar because I thought there would be crab legs, but maybe that's just dinner. Also, the food bar was missing items here and there and was refilled slowly, but there was a lack of clean plates at one point. I think the appetizers and the sushi rolls were pretty good, but not top quality. The nigiri was okay, because the quality of the fish was okay, but on top of that there was just so much rice. The steak hibachi really overcooked the steak and just had it covered in sauce. They said they charge for unfinished food, but they didn't. Some of the fish we ordered had a strong fishy aftertaste instead of a clean, mild flavor. The salmon and eel were the only ones I really enjoyed. Also felt like some of the nigiri had more rice than fish. If you order nigiri, they'll tell you it takes longer to make especially if a lot of people are there, ours took like 30 mins to be prepared so we just ordered some other sushi rolls while waiting. Ordered the Dynamite Roll, Hawaiian Roll, and the Shumai app. The dynamite roll was ok, something about it seemed a little off for me though and it was only 6 thin cut pieces. The Hawaiian Roll was 8 decent sized pieces with a very heavy mango flavor, and the filling was about half cream cheese inside, it was good though. The pan fried shumai was good although a little smaller than I remember at Chinese places. Overall, it's a nice looking place for dining in and the prices weren't too bad. Their sushi is also fresh and high quality. We've been to both branches ( Herndon and Vienna) and this Herndon branch is bigger and parking is so much easier. The only reason I gave them 4 's is the fact that their late night dinner service is subpar. They close at 11pm and we came at 9pm. Ther buffet was empty and service was pretty inconsistent. Maybe it was just the timing of when we came in but their staff was eating dinner and the manager looked like he had been working the whole day. This location recently opened and you can definitely tell. The one in McLean is definitely the big brother and has fresher cuts of fish. We were here recently on a Saturday around 4 p.m. There were a few occupied tables as it was still early. The dining room is large, almost cavernous. I can imagine when it's full, it would be noisy. We were greeted and seated promptly. Plus we were given menus showing what rolls and sashimi were available. They do have a few hot entrees plus appetizers and soup. To drink, we both ordered a cup of hot green tea. We started with miso soup and an appetizer of crab rangoon. The miso soup was okay but only lukewarm in temperature. The crab rangoon consisted of 2 small pieces, with each of us having one. It came with a sweet and sour type dipping sauce. It was decent. Then we ordered a 6 piece tuna and avocado roll (that was for me). My husband got some 10 pieces of tuna (maguro) sashimi. On each table is a bottle of low sodium soy sauce, which we appreciated. We each were given a small cup that contained some wasabi and ginger. For seconds, I got a "pink lady roll" which had some tuna, salmon and yellowtail and cucumber in it. My husband got 5 pieces of yellowtail. It costs $32+ per person. Drinks aren't included so there was an extra charge for the tea, plus we added a tip. Our server was attentive and encouraged us to maybe get more than seconds---as he put it "thirds, fourths or fifths". That would have been too much! All you can eat but not buffet style (except for some hot foods during dinner). I'm actually not a big fan of sushi but my wife and son are. My daughter prefers cooked foods. There are a lot of options besides sushi. The menu is huge and you just let the waiter know what items you want and they bring it out to you. And the waiter keeps checking on you to order more food. I think there is a 90 minute time limit but that is PLENTY of time. We never felt rushed either. Also their desserts were delicious too. Firstly, the food - it was okay and the only reason this is getting 3 stars. They have unlimited sashimi and it was decently fresh. The rolls were okay. Every thing on the appetizer menu that is fried tastes very similar. There is no seasoning. The service - for a weekday dinner with maybe 25% capacity, the service we received was non-existent. We had to continuously wave over our server who was very hard to find. They never came over proactively and never offered to refill our drinks. A lot of the food we ordered were also put in incorrectly and we received items that we didn't order, which normally is fine, we can just re-order. However, the wait time for the food to come out was horrendous. So we ended up just accepting what we were given since we didn't want to have to re-track down our server, re-order, wait another 20 minutes and maybe get the right food item. I went to Sushi Oishii last week with a group of 8 for dinner during soft opening. Quite frankly, they were not ready for any kind of opening at all. We came in a bit before 8 pm and it was pretty packed. I didn't expect perfect service, but I felt like they didn't even meet the bare minimum. Our first orders didn't come until nearly an hour after we got there -- and even then, it was just a few plates and not all of what we had ordered. The next few orders (1-2 plates each time) came out in waves of 15-20 min. We kept having to ask our server for more water and about the status of the food. She said that their ticketing system was not functioning.... So then why would you not write down the orders physically on a sheet of paper?? We had to repeat our orders several times to get more food. Thus, service was not good. Some of the reviewers noted that there weren't enough wait staff to cover the demand. Around 9:30-10 pm, the restaurant was clearing out. There were a few staff standing around the register, but no one was going around to clear the plates and trash off the tables. Food-wise, it was mediocre. Nothing stood out to me. The tempura was very oily. We only got the bulk of our orders around 10 pm (2 hours after we arrived). The only saving grace was the fried cheesecake, which was tasty (hence the 2 stars). I do hope they improve their operations, but until then, I will not be coming back. read more

I love an AYCE sushi, so I had to try this new Sushi Oishii location in Herndon. I'll start my review by saying, I don't have the most refined palate when it comes to sushi. I found all the sushis we got to taste great and they tasted fresh (which they don't always at AYCE places). I really enjoyed the spicy girl roll and the rainbow roll. I went with one friend, and we ate about 7 rolls. I also appreciate that they have things that aren't sushi, like gyoza and miso soup. They also have desserts, but we didn't order any. This is a great made to order AYCE sushi restaurant. The Herndon location is much larger than the Vienna location and there's a small buffet bar (a nice added touch). First off, you have 90 min to eat so have that in mind. Second, Most of the food came out within a reasonable amount of time however the Nigiri took an hour to come out which means you don't really have time to put in a second order and/or it's hard to know how much to order so you end up filling yourself up with other items. Hard not to think this is strategically done on purpose so just know what you are getting into. The amount of time it took to get my nigiri order was a real turn off. Lastly, not everything we ordered came out so keep track of what you order. Overall a great place for sushi but again, if you want to order nigiri, know that it will take a looooong time to get to your table so pace yourself. read more

With that said, the food was alright. The rice in the sushi was smashed, and ruined the presentation. It didn't look appetizing to be honest. The place is quite spacious, no busts, they have nice tables and generally, place is looking a bit different from other "all you can eat" For larger groups you need to call ahead and make a reservation. What about the food itself, I would place it somewhere in the middle between Sushi Queen and Sushi King( which is permanently closed, and I really liked their food ) We had sashimi, different rolls and appetizers. Generally, not bad, but almost all the rolls contained "crab" and quite a bit of sauce which steals from the taste. We ordered a lot of sashimi, sushi rolls, and some extras like takoyaki, seaweed salad, kani salad, fried Oreo, and fried cheesecake. The portions of sashimi were generous and fresh. My favorites were probably the eel and sweet shrimp. The only one I wasn't a huge fan of were the roe, since they were really salty. The sushi rolls were decent, too. I don't expect top quality sushi from an all you can eat place, but these were pretty good for AYCE. I think the service at this restaurant could be improved.
