was able to make a 9 person resy, the day of, on a sunday night with ease. The staff was super attentive and patient with us, especially since it was our first time there. The sushi was sooo good. My go to is usually Ariake, but this is worth the extra 15 min drive down the road. Plus, the service is infinitely better. Would happily go back next weekend!

TL;DR: below average sushi; would not recommend Walked in here on a Friday night, and it was pretty busy. We were able to wait about 5 minutes and get seated. Interior was very cute, and the ambiance was nicer than we had expected it to be. FOOD: ~Toro Carpaccio (2/5): Looked very pretty, but the fish was on the warmer side. You couldn't even taste the toro because it was so over dressed, which was very sweet. ~Hashi sushi sashimi combo (2/5): ~~Came with an assortment of nigiri, sashimi, and rainbow roll ~~Immediately, I noticed that the cut of the fish was off, particularly the tuna (Maguro) ~~The cut was choppy which indicates to me that it was either improperly cut, a bad part of the fish used, or not fresh. ~~The tuna was mushy and tasted very metallic. One bite and I couldn't stomach another one ~~One of the white fish has so much sinew that I couldn't even bite through it. ~~Some of the other fish had miware/breakage, which was very noticeable on the hamachi nigiri ~~Rainbow roll is typically california roll on the inside. It tasted like straight mayo with almost invisible avocado. Same mushy tuna was on top. ~~All the other fish was mid/tasteless ~~Scallop was the only one that was okay. ~Spicy scallop roll (3/5): was just okay ~Green tea ice cream (2/5): came complimentary. Was not good. Icy parts. Did not taste like green tea. Tasted just bitter/burnt (like a bad hojicha). Overall, the food was so mediocre when there are so many other sushi options in the area, and additionally it was very overpriced for what you get quality and quantity wise. Will not return.

I cannot stress enough how much I enjoy Sushi Hashi! So happy I came for happy hour! Specific rolls are only $5!! Each roll contains 6 pieces like their regularly priced sushi and I loved how the salmon or tuna roll was perfectly ratio with avocado! More meat than avocado yum!! Their fish is fresh and so good. Not too fishy.

Since sushi is one of my favorite foods, I'm always on the hunt for new spots, and Sushi Friends in Fairfax definitely did not disappoint. Even without a reservation, we were seated within seven minutes of walking in, which was a great start to the night. The service was excellent, and our server was super attentive throughout the meal. I started with some hot sake, which was fabulous, and we ordered the seaweed salad and the tempura fried appetizer. Both were delicious, but the sushi was the real standout absolutely phenomenal. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, and I really liked how they had dividers between tables to give them a sense of privacy. It was a nice touch that added to the atmosphere. While the lighting was great, the acoustics made it a little hard to hear my dinner companion. Besides that everything was great nI'll definitely be coming back here for sure.

Absolutely beautiful and elegant interior, such a nice atmosphere for dinner. The staff were incredibly kind and generous, they even gave us three dishes on the house, which was such a thoughtful surprise! The house fish was delicious and fresh, and the fried baby scallops were crispy and flavorful. The nigiri, especially the toro, was great! Very fatty & melt-in-your-mouth texture, and the portion size was just right. The rolls were solid too. I especially enjoyed the mango roll because it tasted so fresh. The only dish that didn't quite hit for me was the Mentaiko pasta because the cheese flavor was very deep and intense, almost a bit overpowering with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Overall, great service, beautiful ambiance, and decent quality sushi. I'd definitely come back to try other dishes.

Food was very good! I got the Toro Unagi Don and the toro was PHENOMENAL super fresh and flavorful the donburi came with a good amount of yummy veggies (loved the rakkyo)! The entree came with miso soup and a small ginger salad which was nothing extraordinary but very good!! I feel like many sushi restaurants don't give free soup/salad anymore so I really enjoyed the soup and salad! We also got beef gyoza which was solid, very nice beef flavor. The service here was phenomenal! They gave us soy marinated shrimp and some cantaloupe on the house! I definitely want to come back here. The ambience was very nice not too busy and you could tell the workers and the owners really care about their customers.

*Happy Dance*!!! After eating at AYCE sushi for so long, I had been missing out on better quality sushi. It was worth it! I also forgot that miso soup and salad are standard appetizers that come with the sushi. Before any of our main courses came, we also got a surprise gift - salmon wrapped with an exterior cucumber wrap drizzled with onion sauce. Totally unexpected and kind gesture from the staff. + Edamame + Shrimp Tempura Roll +Tuna Avocado Hand Roll +Yellowtail Scallion Hand Roll +Hashi Futomaki Special Roll - Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, Tamago, Kampyo, Oshinko, Avocado, Cucumber +Assortment of Sashimi/Nigiri - Tuna Belly (Toro), Yellowtail (Hamachi), Salmon (Sake), Squid (Ika), Smoked Salmon, Mackerel (Saba), Eel (Unagi) Sweet Shrimp (Ama Ebi), Salmon Roe (Ikura) When the rest of our main courses came, we noted the generous portions. The fish to rice ratio was spot-on; more fish than rice. The nigiri had a pea sized amount of wasabi that I wouldn't have noticed had I not taken a peek. Typically, any small amount of wasabi would sting my nostrils and rarely do I ever use it. Here, the wasabi itself was subtle in flavor and found myself adding more to the futomaki roll. The edamame was lightly seasoned with salt. The shrimp tempura roll was perfectly crispy and light. I also typically don't order tempura as it can be too heavy though enjoyed the texture. While not featured on the menu, I'm also happy that they were able to make hand rolls by request. My friend also got his hot green tea refilled on the house throughout the meal. It tasted more refined than bag tea and tasted more like roasted green tea or similar in flavor to barley tea. I was satisfied with the food yet was curious if they had a dessert menu. It's like they read my mind! We received another complimentary gift of two generous scoops of green tea ice cream. We were also given a $10 coupon to redeem at our next outing, so now I've got to come back since I'd love to try one of their cocktails or tempura udon. Not to mention, the interior is clean and well-lit with natural & modern design elements. Shoutout to Julie who took care of us. No complaints here and I'll be dreaming of sushi tonight.

One of my favorite happy hour places that also does weekend happy hours. Happy hour is Monday to Sunday, 3 to 6 pm. $5 bites and $8 cocktails. I got for the California rolls haha but they have an extensive happy hour menu. The drinks are good. I've tried them all and the lemon sorbet dessert is very refreshing. The staff is always very pleasant and they have both a bar area and a sushi bar area as well.

Came here for lunch on the weekend- but had a huge breakfast so was going to share some plates but the lady made a comment about how their portions weren't big (suggesting we order more), portions were more than enough. We got the tempura, udon, sushi sashimi combo, and chirashi. The food was average, I think the sushi place across the street has better tempura for sure and slightly better sushi (or maybe my mouth was sour from the previous comment if the waitress which kind of put a damper on our meal). The interior is modern and much nicer than what the exterior suggests.

Sushi and sashimi quality is up there with the good ones in the area; but I like that the price point is slightly lower. Pretty good presentation. The atmosphere is pretty casual, like a family dinner restaurant. Next time I will try some drinks from the bar. I have heard great things about their drinks but haven't had a chance to sample yet.

    Lynda D.

Delicious and high quality. Also affordable price range. Friendly staff that were all very welcoming. I appreciate that they gave our table a tasting of their hand rolls for us to try which I think was spicy tuna/salmon which was actually quite tasty. The specialty rolls are unique and there are many to choose from. There are no complaints on the food but we did note on the experience we were offered miso soup and salad which never arrived and there is no soy sauce at the table so it took a little bit to flag down our waitress to get her to bring us some.

Found this place through social media and they were advertising a pretty good happy hour meal. I will note that some of the drinks will vary depending which happy hour you go to (after work vs late night). The happy hour deal was quite good and you have to sit at the bar to get the prices. I ordered a lychee martini which wasnt too overly sweet. My friends and I shared some fried oysters, takoyaki, maki fries, and handrolls. Everything was yummy and I would probably come back again for their happy hour and try out some of their other dishes! Service was good as well.

I ordered the Hashi Platter Combo (24 pcs + 3 rolls) for Mother's Day. When I got home, I found 3 pieces of sushi missing. It honestly feels like the restaurant took advantage of the fact that takeout customers can't inspect the order on the spot. They offered a 20% Mother's Day discount, but it seems they just cut 20% of the food to make up for it. I tried calling for 20 minutes to address this, but they completely ignored my calls. It's a very shady way to run a business--hiding missing items in a closed box and then disappearing. Extremely disappointed.

I also ordered a house salad and a hand roll to hold me over. The hand roll was massive and absolutely delish! I experienced them for the first time in L A. and have been looking for ones just as good here in the area and this one was the best I've found thus far! I even got to sample the miso soup, which was perfect. I will definitely be making the drive from home to patronize them again! Crab Rangoon was average but I did appreciate the sauce wasn't the typical sweet chili sauce. Our main had great crispy skin but the duck was dry. I was disappointed since it was $69 so I was expecting it to be a lot better. The broccoli had great taste but u was surprised that it was American broccoli and not Chinese broccoli. I understand it's Chinese American but maybe I should have read the description a little better. My friends did love it. Overall - the food was ok. The service was great.

The same server opens the refrigerator and pulls out the Mochi with his Bare Hands that I witnessed him use to eat his food and wipe his face before I walked into that door. I actually live in Japan and eat mochi regularly. There was nothing special about that Mochi in taste being 5 dollars.
