1 of the 3 asian restaurants that I've seen so far in this little town, this was better than I though it would be but my expectations were pretty low :-p. We had the caterpillar roll, which was listed as a "chef creation"? (really gonna take credit for that? I guess now one would know out here?!), the dynamite roll which was pretty spicy and the spider roll which was on par with most other restaurants anywhere else. All these rolls were surprisingly tight with not too much rice, one downside was the wasabi was not strong at all. The ono was good but came with mash potatoes, at a Japanese restaurant? And the beef teriyaki was good too. Unfortunately they had no green tea icecream but their mint chip was very minty and had the texture of almost a gelato. A few weird things on the menu like the cream cheese wantons and the yaki soba with a "green curry sauce"?, and don't forget the mash potatoes mentioned above. Go somewhere else! I have never had worse service... not kidding. We went for takeout and were asked to "call again in 30 minutes" because they were too busy to take to go orders during a pandemic. Called back, got put on hold, and then hung up on. Called back and asked them not to put us on hold as we have been waiting 45 minutes to place an order and the girl said "um yeahhhh... 45 minutes is how long we have been open." No apology and so much attitude throughout the call. We placed our order and waited an hour and thirty minutes for our food to be EXTREMELY mediocre/bad. Decided to give them a second chance and try their sushi while on vacation. We went in 9 minutes early to get it and we were told "You're pickup time is at 7:05..." then had to wait in the car. They said they would bring it out to us and after 25 more minutes we went in and told them how long we have been waiting and we were told "yeah... it the holidays." AGAIN - extremely rude and disrespectful (by the way, January 3rd is not a holiday I'm aware of). After we told her about our experience she said "so do you want me to comp it then?" and that was it - again, no apology and complete attitude. Sushi was TERRIBLE. We didn't even eat it. Kira/Camille were plain rude and dismissive and I'm surprised they are still open - just go get some pizza. read more

Yummy local sushi place. They have two rooms you can reserve for private events, and a sushi bar, and a regular bar. Food is fresh, a little expensive than other places but reasonable for the area. read more

So disappointed in service this evening. They made a mistake on our takeout order, no biggie, it happens. But our treatment upon return to rectify the mistake was appalling. They insinuated we were wrong, they hadn't made any mistake, and offered no apology. Ruined our whole evening by the rudeness. Sushi in a ski resort town in Idaho? Label me skeptical. Sushi on Second is a dimly lit restaurant with a relatively relaxing atmosphere, though the tables make it seemingly impossible to easily reach anything. The miso soup here was very good, rich and flavorful, but don't waste your cash on the pot of green tea. It's made from a bag and they leave the bag in the pot so it's completely bitter by the time you're ready for your second cup. The unagi and spicy tuna seemed good and fresh and the shrimp tempura was HUGE, a must-get. I can't recommend the spider roll, as the soft shell crab tasted fishy and not so fresh. Finally, the prices here are a little out of hand. (e.g. $5.50 for a small edamame appetizer is just crazy; we all know they come from a giant bag in the back of the freezer that you can get for $3 at any restaurant supply. Fits the bill for sushi in Ketchum. My favorite roll was definitely the Who's Your Daddy. I also tried Over and Under the Rainbow and another I can't remember. The sushi is fresh and it comes out fast but it isn't super imaginative compared to sushi you could find in a major city but it is good when you're craving sushi! A friend I was dining with tried a curry special and even though you might think curry at a sushi place is random, he said it was really good. Will be back when that raw fish craving hits. read more

I think the issue here is they are going for quantity not quality. Not that anything tasted bad - it didn't. But authentic sushi bars are all about small and beautifully served portions. I went in September 2016 on a Thursday night around 6pm. Just two of us. We were seated immediately and the server came quickly. I am vegetarian but my friend is not. I ordered two veggie rolls and the homemade Tony's ice cream. My friend ordered 7 different rolls and loved them all. The easily will make changes to any roll. I ordered extra sauces and cream cheese but no up charges. I thought it was reasonably priced. They have a nice bar area and it has TV's. (Don't have to miss the game). So I've been here many times. I own a house in Sun Valley. Usually, the sushi is pretty tasty. This time, it was dry and the rice was undercooked. The rolls were falling apart. Also, the service was terrible. It took us an hour and a half to get our order. The waitress didn't pay much attention to us either. It took over an hour to get a second round of drinks. We recommend starting with the batayaki (sp?) which is a hot spinach, red pepper, mushroom, onion, and garlic dish which will appeal to vegetable lovers. The salmon sashimi melts in your mouth like butter. Our favorite rolls are the I-75 and the BS -- we crave them when we're not in town. Did I mention the service?!? Had a great dinner! Service is by and far their best attribute! Both our kitchen server and the sushi chef were so friendly and ready to chat and share fun info about the menu or just Ketchum in general. The sushi was fresh and focused on simple rolls with great flavor and a few extra bits of flair. Crispy trout appetizer is to die for and we loved the spicy scallop roll which the sushi chef made sure to ask about our spice preference, light it up please sir! Atmosphere is somewhere between a swanky hole in the wall and a red hued cocktail lounge but it works perfectly. read more

We ate at this place last night. A family of 5. We were hungry. First of all, the service was OUTSTANDING. I think our waitress was named 'Kat.' She was super energetic and positive. It really made a difference. The sushi was great -- and we are spoiled where live in California. Phenominal. As good or better than the good places in Austin I'm used to. It was so good we went there twice on a recent two night stay in Ketchum. The Bob's roll is awesome as well as their seared salmon. The atmosphere was comfortable and hosts accomodating. We'll be back. read more

the food is not very good to start off with the sushi fell apart every time i'd try and pick it up not made with quality at all our reservations were at 5:40 and we left by 8 because it took so long for the food to come out then a lady told us that we need to hurry up because there next party was there and we had barely started eating waste of money and service was horrible the worst i've ever had i don't recommend it at all :( read more

On our first visit here, the rolls and sashimi we ordered were good- nothing original or interesting, but fresh- good enough to warrant a second visit. But on round two, most of what we ordered- including a couple things we had the first time- were average, with two rolls containing salmon having an actual off-taste. read more
