Just a little diamond in the rough...then again the area is super nice. Before we walked inside, we were expecting more of a stereotypical mass seating sushi restaurant, but I was glad to be wrong. Probably a max of 20-24 customers at a time and it was very intimate. Like many of the restaurant stalls in Japan. It was very cultural and the staff spoke Japanese. The service was amazing as there were on their toes to make sure we were happy. There was no designated waiter/waitress, the team work was perfect. The food was made to perfect and the freshness of the uni and salmon were as if they were fishing it from the back door. We ordered some miso soup, fried squid, salmon nigiri and sashimi, uni, salmon belly nigiri and of course a couple of classic beers. Salmon nigiri and sashimi was generously cut and amazingly fresh. With the temperature perfectly chilled to it melting in your mouth, it was as if we were in Japan. The Uni was even more amazing!! Properly chilled and the creamy texture was beyond perfect. Salmon belly nigiri was succulent and writing this review makes me want to take that 2 hr commute for another round. I forgot to mention the fried squid/calimari. Not many will understand this but the tempura batter was perfectly dipped and the tender texture was amazing. It was not out of a bag, it was freshly cut, battered, and fried there. It was an amazing experience and we will be back for more excitement.

Such a great sushi spot! A small restaurant but it's such cozy inside. I made a reservation after reading the reviews for a Wednesday evening at 7pm but truly didn't need it. They were great once we arrived. We ordered and the food came out so quick! There weren't many customers so maybe that's why. The food was truly so delicious. Specifically the Karaage was perfect and steaming hot- highly recommend that appetizer. Their house salad was larger than expected and so good! The rolls were well made and my whole group enjoyed our dinner. I will 100% be back and recommend for anyone in the area!

quick, attentive, friendly service here. great pricing and efficient ordering methods. nice, quaint interior creates intimate space for dining. I ordered avocado rolls, inari, veg-fried tempura rolls and shrimp and veggie tempura, along with various other items. The miso soup was also delicious. Highly recommend and would certainly return.

Amazing spot. The sushi was so fresh tasting, the service was quick, and each roll was carefully and beautiful constructed. The pork gyozas were amazing as well. My favorite was the Eunice roll and my boyfriends was the house prince, however all of them were spectacular. Atmosphere is small and cozy and not very noisy!

My husband and I entered the restaurant an hour before closing and the staff was very accommodating and courteous. The location is relatively small but very inviting. Staff was friendly and attentive, considering we were the only diners and it was close to closing. I loved the fact the sushi is uniquely decorated/plated. We truly enjoyed our experience. One small downfall is we weren't too fond of some of the sushi flavors but most were delish.

Love this place for its inventive rolls as well as the quality of sushi here. The only downside is it's a small restaurant so advise making reservations. There's other items in the menu if you're not into sushi. Great food and great service - so this place is a regular on our rotations.

This is such a cute Resturant near old Fairfax. It wasn't busy at all. The waitresses are so nice and funny. They saw me struggling with eating the sushi and making fun of my bf like why you making her stuff herself, she's dying in sushi We got the md roll because I love crabs. Then, we the sashimi platter and queen platter for 2. The sashimi I really like especially the tuna belly and salmon. You really only need to get the queen platter because that you will fill you up. I definitely think this is a great date night spot especially not being too loud.

Good price for sushi. The service here is always great. The ramen was ok, wish there was more flavor to it.

Place is small so make reservations to ensure no waiting. Maybe 6-10 tables depending on the groups there. Came here a while ago and wanted to come back to see how it is. The only difference is I was paying the bill and never realized how costly it is compared to other good quality sushi places. I had a reservation that i made over the phone and when i went in they were busy and did not greet me or even acknowledge me. it was busy so I can understand what it's like but after waiting 10 minutes of just standing there, I walked outside to wait and when I saw a couple approach (no reservation) they got seated immediately. Then my party had to wait until another table left to make room for us. Pretty sure my table was given away. Once we finally sat, our waitresses were nice and I could tell were just super super busy. Started off with whitetail sashimi appetizer and it was good, the ponzu sauce it was in was delightful. The scallop and Shrimp entree cost roughly $28, we had not gotten salad or soup with it. It was expensive and not as good as I remembered. The spicy tuna roll was standard and good. The two pieces of white tuna were not the best especially for the price, but it's my favorite fish so I have a high standard. The dynamite roll was a solid 4/10. I asked for a recommendation and she said this one. I knew it would be creamy but not this much. I am not a fan of cream or overloaded sauce on rolls but this was exactly that. I could not taste any fish. Only cream or mayo or something sweet. I would not recommend if you want to be able to taste fish in your sushi rolls. The extra waiting (10 mins) was not a big deal but the dynamite roll and the scallop & shrimp really impacted my recent visit. Maybe if we had ordered one of their floats and shared an appetizer it would have been more pleasant. I also normally don't include total prices in reviews but all of this costed roughly $84 and including tip, $100.

Sushi place with sushi hours. I adore this place, they have really good lunch specials and all of their sushi is super fresh and really good. The place is definitely a little smaller so finding seating is hard sometimes, but go at like super weird hours or earlier so you can sit and enjoy all the fish and noodle goodness. Their ramen is my favorite, especially in this colder weather, it warms you right up and perhaps a nap after seems appropriate.

Decided on this little spot in Fairfax town center after having a quick weekend day trip to DC. Really pleasantly surprised with the whole atmosphere of the place. It's a true fusion of asian bites but still a legitimate dive bar. The space is small, patrons are merry, and the whole place is an absolute vibe. I ordered some pilsner and some other lager on tap from local breweeies. Delicious. Ordered popcorn chicken, pork belly, and some 'real food' - a quick rice bowl with chicken. The fried bites were wonderfully crispy. They have good oil management and felt quite light especially with a swig of a cold lager. The rice bowl was tasty too. Construction was indeed very Taiwanese, and yet... I still felt like I'm in a dive bar complete with all its grunge. So cool They sell 4/6 packs of craft brews here too. They've got stuff all the way up from some Vermont and Maine (true craft beer land IMO)

We used to be exclusively Ariake stans but this place takes the cake. As soon as we walked in I felt like I was transported to Japan. The smells, the decor, the low-key-ness. We ordered the maguro with mountain yam, tempura, a bunch of nigiri, and one roll. The tempura is as it should be (and it's so hard to see it done right here in the states). Crispy and light. We liked it so much we ordered another plate. They also give Japanese sized portions (not American) so it's easy to eat as a light appetizer. The nigiri was the star of the show. We ordered our favorite pieces a la carte (there were a few fish that weren't available like kanpachi and chutoro so we changed it for other pieces). The fish to rice ratio is INSANE. Super thick cuts and perfectly formed nigiri. I also loved the fact that the chef torches the eel in our tobiko eel avocado roll. Gave it an extra depth of flavor. Also we keep forgetting but we can ask for our salmon nigiri to be torched! Will definitely do that next time. I love the hole-in-wall vibe and the fact that it's like a family run restaurant. The wife and husband were speaking Japanese to each other and my boyfriend felt like he was back home. Can't recommend enough! Pro-tip hit up the froyo shop next door for dessert.

Decided hibachi would be fun for a family gathering. Found this place randomly and returned 3x. They accept walk-in's and take reservations. It's easy to make reservations either online on their website or placing a phone call. All the employees here are very friendly and service was efficient. They have a waiting area near the front if your table is not ready. The first time we came we didn't make reservations and since it was a weekend, we waited 30 mins roughly. It wasn't too bad because the waiting area had seats, a tv, and decor to keep you relaxed while waiting. We've had 2 different chefs the 3x we went. I think the employees here have a good memory bc they recognized us the third time we went. We don't go consistently back to back so we were surprised considering it gets busy there and it's next to college, I imagine they get different people in and out. I find the chefs are very fun and go with the flow of the table. One night we went it was a quieter crowd so they adjusted to that temperament. They do the same fun tricks that get a laugh. The consistency in quality of the food was great. All three times had no issues with the food. They make note of your allergies which is great as one person in our party was allergic to seafood. The portion size is really good that if you decided to have an appetizer you could probably save half of your food to take home. I've gotten steak all three times, people in my party did steak and scallops. No complaints. You get soup and salad with your hibachi picks. And it comes with fried rice or white rice, noodles, shrimp, and veggies. I haven't tied the sushi but plan to try it next time I go. Passing by the area where people ordered sushi I will say it looked amazing. I find you get what you paid for here and it's worth it.
