It was quiet for lunchtime. Jada waited on me. I was given a complementary miso soup and house salad. I ordered a Cali special roll and added cream cheese and green onions. For my main entree I got the ocean's three with the lobster tail, scallops and small salmon instead of the shrimps. The dressing for the house salad smelled fishy and had the consistency of finely chopped Cole slaw on top of the lettuce. The house salad after further consumption reminded me of cole slaw overall. The dressing needs some work. Perhaps benchmark Noble fish in Clawson on their house ginger salad dressing and their Cali special roll. I didn't find any green onions in my rolls and the krab salad seems a bit heavy on the mayo, doesn't need so much mayo to make it good. They were out of lobster for my ocean's three, they informed me of their lack of supply after I had placed my order. I got extra salmon instead. No lobster for me today. The miso was okay, but way too much miso paste for the amount of water, needs a better paste to water ratio next time. The backsplash of the sushi counter needs to be cleaned more often, looked like dried on sriracha on it to me. My main entree seemed to take a bit too long and I could see Jada waiting for it by the kitchen counter to finish. The bell finally rang indicating my dish was done, she brought it to me promptly. I took a half bite of the scallop and 2 bites or so of the salmon. Both the salmon and scallops were overcooked, the meat started turning into jerky and tasted like it too. I let Jada know and she told the cook he had burned both the scallops and the salmon. Jada informed me that they would not be charging me for the entree, asked if I wanted something else. I was done trying anything else from this place. I told Jada and her colleague about the miso and the krab salad, they agreed the miso looked a bit too dark. I am disappointed as I had higher hopes for the food here based on the yelp reviews. Jada was friendly, attentive, understanding and apologetic. read more

My husband and I have been to this place 3 times now. The first time was when they first opened and was great. The second time was not so good and the recent time was amazing. The owners are very nice and help out with serving and getting food out. We sat at the sushi bar were you can see all the action of what the chefs are doing. The place was busy since it was dinner time. Unfortunately, this restaurant does not serve alcohol but apparently you can bring your own and drink it there. The server go out drink orders and gave us menus. We ended up ordering fried pork gyoza, yellow tail jalapeno, spider roll, spicey tuna roll and soon du bu with rice. Of course they gave us a salad and soup which comes with the meals. Our food came out at a decent time with no problems. The gyoza were nothing to brag about but were good. The yellow tail jalapeno was really good and had some spice to it. The sushi rolls were nothing special but the soup was amazing. My husband really like the soon du bu here and I will admit it is amazing. Overall, this place is a pleasure to go to. We would come back for the other Korean food that they have there. If I wanted sushi I would just drive a couple more blocks to the other sushi joint. I know harsh to say but true. read more

Great new sushi spot in downriver! Spoke with the owner and his standards on the procurement of fish is absolutely top shelf! Their fish is ALWAYS fresh NEVER frozen! The size of their slices is the true star of the show at Sushi Q. The service was good, but it was the grand opening so I would expect it to get even better as time goes on and their employees become more intimately involved with their menu and sushi in general. Was craving sushi on Monday and called around to our normal places....everywhere was closed! Hopped on Yelp and found Sushi Q. Overall very good and was very impressed with their health/saftey measures when I arrived to pick up our order. They had a table when you walked in with everyone's carry out orders. You found the order with your name and signed the receipt and went on your way! They had gloves and hand sanitizer out for us to use, and they had a plastic barrier up to protect their cashier. *bonus* if you pre-pay over the phone you get 20% off. We live about 20-25 mins away, but seeing as how impressed we were with the food and their safety practices....we will for sure be back! read more

Amazing. Awesome. If you have been waiting for THE place to go for sushi downriver, run, don't walk, to Sushi Q. We usually go to Dearborn or Ypsilanti for great sushi. But this place was "hot and new"on Yelp, so we had to try it. We ordered four special rolls which happened to go together quite well -- 007, Tuna 3 way, Spicy Trio and the Fire Scallop. The interior of the place is very modern for a bit of a small run down strip mall. It has been open for a month and a half to rave reviews. Great sushi bars ha e several things in common. Everything must be fresh, the combinations need to be thoughtful and the sauces spot on. Sushi Q excels in all three. The Spicy Trio, with raw tuna, shrimp and octopus on top was unusual and so good. The octopus was not chewy and the combination, with asparagus was perfect. The Fire Scallop Roll, with baked Scallop, tempura flakes and crab was also great. My favorite was the 007. The crab, white tuna and shrimp tempura was accented with a thin strip of lime that made the flavors pop. The sushi came with either miso soup or a ginger salad which were both very good. This place should and will be packed soon. You will not be disappointed. read more

Great Experience. The dining room is surprisingly roomy for a small location. The parking is a little tight but manageable. The hostess and servers are friendly. I decided to eat at the bar. My rating is based on the fact that this is a midwestern middle-class targeted restaurant. You cannot fairly compare this to a sushi palace powerhouse on the coast. We ordered several appetizers; including takoyaki, seaweed salad, and edamame. They were all good. Notably the takoyaki was excellent and a keystone indicator for me. It lacked the fishy been-around-too-long taste all to common to this dish. The complimentary miso was okay. Flavor was to intense and salty to truly enjoy. Like it had been on the heat to long. We sample 9 different rolls and everyone agreed that they were all well done. Customer service was polite, speedy, and pleasant. read more

I think my review of this place will likely need an update as they get settled in. Still, the first visit was adequate so I will definitely be back for another try. The decor is nice, and we appreciated the Halloween lights. The music was all over the place, and some was just bad. The bathrooms lacked tissue. Service was SLOW! There were a number of servers working and the shop was not full, yet for some reason it took a very long time for each step of our meal to progress. We waited 10 or more minutes for our soup/salad, which we dismissed at first since it's complimentary (a nice treat). This worsened when we waited almost another 45 minutes for our rolls we ordered. I notice they only had one sushi chef working, but as stated this place was not full. Regardless, it should never take that long for a handful of rolls. Once it arrived, the food was tasty overall. My rolls were not prepped the best, however. They kept falling apart from the first touch (and yes, I can use chopsticks). It led to a fair bit of rice being lost to the soy sauce gods. I am not against hard work, but I'd like to not have to skillfully balance my food so it doesn't fall apart. I hope that improves over time. Final suggestion is to provide more veggie roll options, especially with tempura. I will be back for sure, especially after meeting and talking with the owner who was such a kind gentleman. I think people like that want to serve customers the best way possible, so I expect my experience to improve over time. read more

I had the moonlight roll, sashimi appetizer and then the saltwater eel and salmon roe sashimi. Everything was so damn delicious and the ambiance is cozy and quiet. Nice casual date spot. Saltwater eel was very interesting, first time seeing it on a menu for me. My only small gripe is the salmon roe could have been a little fresher, it didn't have that satisfying *pop* sensation*. Overall would absolutely recommend. The owner is personable and friendly and even gave me the yelp check-in offer when I spaced out and forgot to redeem it, AND when I spaced out again and used the wrong card he was more than happy to help me out and reverse the initial charge and put it on the right one. I got the Texas Roll with the steak on top of it. I got it carry out because I just wanted to try this roll. I've never had anything else there so basically I'm reviewing one roll. It was very good though, a strange sensation eating warm steak with sushi, might not be for everyone. Especially those looking for authenticity. If you were you wouldn't order this roll in the first place. I do look forward to trying the more traditional stuff they have here. My sister and I went for dine in and there wasn't a table available. The MANAGER took our name and number and said she would call us when a table was ready. We sat in our car right in front of the front door and saw multiple people come out. We assumed we would be getting a call any minute. At this point we had already waited about 25 minutes. We decided to give it 10 more minutes considering the fact that they were busy... We witnessed another couple park, walk in to the restaurant and get seated right away. So we left. I can't say anything regarding the vibe of the restaurant itself as I've never been inside BUT I've passed by quite a few times and it seems to be a fairly lowkey establishment! Food was absolutely amazing, and this place definitely earns the "best sushi place I've found" award (if there can be one)! I can't say I'll order it through doordash again, though that's no fault of the establishment or my driver! I just compared menu prices for the exact things I ordered and well... their fees more than doubled the price... so that kind of sucks, but again, no fault to the restaurant or my driver... just the platform I used to place the order.
