Ive been coming here for about over a year now ever since i moved out here in concord for work. We come here about 3-4 times a month. Anyways Typical weekday day after lunch around 1pm I usually order the lunch special i normally call it in since i only have a 30 minute lunch break. But then today i decided to call it in and once i picked up i decided to pay for my meal and simply asked if i can sit down in one of the tables so i can eat my lunch. I was told that i COULDN'T sit since i asked for a togo order. Mind you all the bar seats were vacant and majority of the tables were open there were literally 2 tables that were taken and it was one in opposite side of the room. I was really upset. All i wanted to do was sit down for 10 min and eat my lunch peacefully. This is just VERY unprofessional thats like going to any restaurant placing and paying an order and being refused to have a seat so i can eat my meal. So for those reason i will not be bringing my business back that was just and a***** moveand big a slap in the face. On top of that fix your online pricing!!! False advertisement prices are way off. read more

Randomly stumbled here with a friend yesterday, and it was such a treat. Food was good; good portion good price. Service was fantastic, friendly, and super fast (kept the water filled!) And we were pleasantly surprised by the ice cream given to us at the end! Too bad I live a bit of a distance from here, or I'd be here super often. read more

We checked in on yelp and got the free goyoza appetizer. The server knew what it was and ordered it without problem. The suishi wasn't fabulous. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't fabulous. I thought about giving this place a few trys before writing a review, as every now and then, people have an off day and you'll get a bad first impression. As for food out here in the East bay, this place isn't too bad. The first time I ventured here, they had a horrible menu. After the first disappointment, I was hesitant to go back. After passing by, I noticed a new menu, and decided to give it a second try. The new menu is pretty decent (at least compared to what they had). This a Korean run Sushi house, so they focus more on rolls and dishes than sashimi and nigiri. The better lunch specials run $9.99 and the original one is $6.95 (Chicken teriyaki, california roll, a piece of fried fish. and tempura with salad and miso soup). For the lunch specials, the Udon is great on a cold valley day, and the Bul Go Gi is great if you want a taste of Korean food with some Japanese miso soup and miso salad. I haven't tried the other thing, but the picture doesn't it make it look appetizing. This place seems great for a quick bite or lunch, but don't have high expectations. They have Nordstrom prices for Walmart food... Well, maybe not that far, but they are pricey for what they offer... read more

Overall, a surprisingly solid place for sushi around Fry's Electrics. I ordered the Chicken Terriyaki w/Nigiri Sushi and Diablo Roll. The teriyaki was solid in a sense where the sauce was on the chicken and not completely drenched. The Nigiri didn't look fresh as the cuts were nicely sized but didn't have nice cuts to it but tasted fresh. Diablo Roll (spicy tuna, topped with tuna) was nothing special but solid throughout. Place is nestled around somewhat and small but I think if I'm back in Concord for a business meeting, definitely one of the places I would consider. read more

We went there because we had a gift certificate from Restaurant.com. I liked their menu, and my wife and I both like Japanese food. I had read the reviews here and thought it would be okay. But, it ended up being way better than okay; it was spectacular!!! I got a plate with Sashimi, Beef Teriyaki, and Tempura, my wife got a Vegetable udon noodle soup, and we both got Sushi; I got a roll with tempura shrimp topped with hot stuff and Tuna (Think it was called the Hot Roller), and my wife got a veggie avocado roll. Sashimi was fresh, Beef teriyaki was tasty (although I felt it was a slightly small portion for $15, even though it was for three things), and the tempura was very well done; not too greasy and very crispy. My wife loved her udon soup, as well as our one year old who wouldn't stop eating the noodles. She loved it. The sushi was also spectacular. My wife loved her vegetable roll so much that we ordered more to go for tomorrow (being that it was only $3.50 a roll, it was a steal). My roll was incredibly good, although I didn't eat it because I was slowly getting full from the amount of food we got. Our meals also came with salad, which was good, and mine came with Miso soup. All in all, if we ever come to Concord again (being in Sacramento), we'll definitely come back!!!! read more

I've been coming to this place for the past year years or so. When I want Sushi I will drive over to Sushi Raku, it doesn't matter how far away I am I will drive. My wife and I currently drive from Vallejo to come here. I love the fact you get complementary salad (with home made miso dressing) and miso soup. We always get Sushi here, never really found myself interested in anything else. The Dynamite Roll is my favorite roll, it's not on the menu but they keep making it every time I order. My wife gets the Concord Roll and we split a Philadelphia Roll. We tend to get the same thing every time we go. The quality of the sushi is far superior to any of the other sushi restaurants around. The icing on the cake is getting the green tea ice cream at the end with the check. read more

I love the sushi here. We love our sushi, and unfortunately it's been hard to find a good place worth the money you spend. However, this place has great sushi for the price, and it's not 90% rice, which is great because I come for the fish not the rice. Stopped by for lunch and ordered a bento box lunch combo which was good, comes with soup and salad. Facility is small but there was no wait when we showed up. Staff was friendly and very efficient, constantly refilling our tea cups so that was nice. Parking lot is large that is shared with the local Fry's Electronics. Only problem is that it's on the backside of the strip mall so it isn't obvious that it's there. read more

I was disappointed with this place. It was around 7:30pm dinner. We ordered fried oysters for appetizers. It was cold. The breading was too thick for me I barely taste the oysters. We order the assorted sashimi dinner. Sushi is supposed to be bite size and fresh. It wasn't good. The tuna was chewy. The salmon was like costco salmon. The white tuna they served had black spots. 4-5 Stars Solid place in the area for Japanese. Udon, Tempura, Agedashi, Katsu all very good and fresh. Bar: Nigiri, sashimi and the rolls are the same, good and fresh. Service is always attentive and very polite. With all things aside, and considering the prices, this gem is serving up some really solid plates for the locals in the backend of a parking lot strip mall. For what it is, where it is, it's a home run. I will continue to eat here... 1/16/17 update: Had dinner here couple nights ago. The nigiri was cut in the wrong direction and way too big. The fish was stringy and the size was a bit unruly. It's hard to find a Japanese restaurant run by actual Japanese. So dissatisfied I ordered the teriyaki chicken lunch special which came with salad and miso soup. I also ordered The mixed tempura lunch. The chicken was burnt and hard to eat. The salad came with thousand island dressing not the typical Japanese dressing. The dipping sauce for the tempura was bland with no flavor at all. There was a lot of food which lacked any kind of Japanese flavor and I threw most of it away. I will not be going there again. read more

Been coming here once a week since the beginning of 2012. The service is great. They find some time to have a chit-chat with us every now and then. It helps that my buddy knows the owner. Having said that, the service has stepped up from what I remember in 2011. However, the sushi still needs a bit of work. I can't complain since I was in LA and paid $120 for fresh sushi. But for an under $10 lunch combo meal, it hits the spot especially after a good workout at the gym. Some of the rolls really do well like the Cherry Blossom, but the other ones, where they bake the sushi is over doused with cream. For the price point, it's a fair place to eat, especially since the food at work is herendous. I'll be going there as often as I can during my lunch break. I have not tried going there during my dinner time yet, but one of these days, I'll be coming around to that. read more

I always get the bentos wherever I go! Sushi Raku has given me the best bentos ever!!!! My dad took me there yesterday and we loved it! I got the Salmon teriyaki with California rolls. Yummm!!! the Salmon was so soft and the sauce was THE perfect sauce! the rice was really soft it melted in my mouth! I love the salad and the miso soup that comes with it!! I couldn't tell how much i loved the food there! and i would get the same bento again if I could! the service was good. The server was friendly and fast. When your signing your bills, you get a vanilla ice-cream as well, which was the perfect ending to a perfect meal! They got an extra tip just for the ice-cream too. lol, and left me hungry for more for the next time I visit concord. I would highly recommend Sushi Raku if you're looking for bentos!! read more

My son has been raving about this place for a while. He play's games at Black Diamond Games which is next door to this place. I guess on big gaming nights, they run specials of 2 for 1 sushi rolls, and deliver them to the gamers. I was surprised how cute it was when we walked in. Nice dark wood tables, real clean and pretty. We were seated immediately, and given menus. My sons ordered some rolls and I ordered the teriyaki chicken/sashimi combo dinner. I was surprised when they brought us all miso soup and salad, plus a plate of appetizers "on the house". We were probably all eating within 5 minutes. Everything was delicious, I was especially impressed with my sashimi. It was so pretty I took a picture and posted it for all of my sashimi loving friends. It tasted as good and fresh as it looked. This has been my go to sushi for years! I moved to Brentwood and I still go here! Great food and great prices. I have taken so many friends and family and they're always satisfied! They end up coming in their own. My favorite roll is the sf roll!! The only thing that is disappointing is the green tea ice cream is usually always out:(. I typically find my way over to Mad Fish in downtown Concord, but I wanted to try something new today, I said at the sushi bar and the place was very busy my order came out in a very quick manner. Really fresh sushi! My favorite is sitting at the counter and watching the chef make his sushi! He is so methodical and consistent. It really is so relaxing to watch him and it is so clean. I've been here about 6-7 times now and it is usually pretty average sushi with good to great service. However, my experience today was pretty poor. I was craving some amaebi (sweet shrimp nigiri), but...they didn't have any. I understand if this place didn't have any toro or salmon belly (surprise, they don't) but sweet shrimp is like a standard at sushi places. Ended up ordering some nigiri and that was a disaster. I get that it is like 80 degrees outside right now but that doesn't mean that any of my nigiri should taste like it's also 80 degrees. Seriously, warm sashimi/nigiri is the worst thing in the whole world. On the bright side, you get a free salad, miso soup, and a complimentary matcha ice cream at the end. I probably would not venture back here again, but due to connivence, I may have to. Given that the spring/summer months is coming up, I have a strong suspicion that warm sushi maybe a trend. I tempting to review this place and very surprise it has 4 stars. I am very disappointed with their quality of food and place. I ordered hagadeshi tofu, it usually come in cast iron pot and serve with soft tofu, it came in bowl with firm tofu. Second order tempura udon, tempura oily soak the paper under it. Udon, meh.. Nothing special and broth is ok. Would I come back? I don' think I would try again. read more

When you're looking for some decent rolls, this place can fit the bill. While this place is Korean owned, the service is always good, and the food is pretty consistent. It's not going to be the best sushi you've ever tasted, but it will satisfy your palette if sushi is what you're craving. If you're looking for a deal though, the Raku Lunch Special is not a bad deal at all. For just over $9 you get soup, salad, CA rolls, Chicken Teriyaki, and Gyoza. For the amount of food you get, it's a great deal, and that alone keeps me coming back. read more
