Came in on a busy Saturday for so lunch with my wife and kid. Great service, ambience was awesome. I had ordered the Cuban sandwich, which I will always order if a new restaurant I haven't been to has it. The Cuban was very good. I haven't had one this good in a while. The roasted pork was tender, full of flavor, good solid ham and cheese, mustard ratios and just pressed down enough to hold the sandwich together. Wife has some Shrimp Tacos. Too bad I didn't get to try it (perhaps next time), but she ate the whole thing in record time. So it must be good. I also ordered a Sangria, I usually stay away from the fruity drinks, but this one was refreshing and strong. read more

The food and coffee were really good, and overall we had a nice time. We came with family for a birthday brunch after seeing great photos and reviews, and everything was going smoothly at first. However, things changed when we received the bill. There was an added fee for paying by credit card--not a flat fee, but a percentage that felt higher than expected. Unfortunately, I don't recall seeing any notice of this fee on the website, menu, or anywhere in the restaurant. We had a party of 13, so I planned to pay by credit card. Had I known about the surcharge ahead of time, I would have gladly brought cash. Being surprised with the extra percentage at the end felt frustrating and a bit unreasonable. Overall, good food and experience, but clearer communication about payment fees would make a big difference. read more

I came for the eggs Benedict and they delivered! Soup was good but portion was small. All else was just so-so. Service was slow and servers were unfriendly. Nice seating area but can get really loud. Enjoyed an excellent dinner last night at Crescent Bistro in downtown Pleasant Hill. We sat outside on their cute little patio and enjoyed the lovely evening. We started with the jalapeño cheddar donuts with bacon aioli. For our entrees I had the Gnocchi in Vodka Sauce and my husband has the Grilled Flat Iron Steak. They were also able to make a kids Mac and cheese for my son. Everything was incredible and we had friendly and fast service. I literally couldn't shut up about how good the gnocchi was. Disappointing dinner on what was a slow Monday night. DH chose Crescent Bistro for his birthday dinner. He had rated previous entrees here in his "best ever" category ... Almond Crusted Halibut and Red Wine Short Ribs. I was not surprised when he again chose the halibut. DH began the meal with the Soup of the Day. Our server, Logan, said the soup was cauliflower, but the host who welcomed us had told us it was Clam Chowder. Logan said she had only been at CB a week and would need to check. Indeed, it was Clam Chowder with Bacon Bits. The presentation was nice ... a cup with a cute handle on a saucer. Two soup spoons so I had a taste too. The soup was creamy, not too thick. The overwhelming flavor was bacon. Good chunks of potatoes, but the clams seemed to be an after thought. With his last spoonful, DH finally found two clam pieces. DH chose the Almond Crusted Halibut for his entree. Not as he remembered. The halibut was cooked perfectly except it was short on almonds and somewhat overwhelmed with capers. The roasted cauliflower and Brussels sprouts were a bit underdone. The latter were halved and I seem to recall when DH had it earlier they were prepared as leaves. Unfortunately my Prawn Pesto Fettucine was even more disappointing. I would have sent it back, but didn't want to complain too much on DH's birthday. Even with the pesto sauce, the pasta lacked flavor ... adding salt and pepper did not help. The prawns were okay but the only way to describe the fettuccine is a "glob of pasta with thick sauce." The few artichoke hearts also lacked flavor as did the roasted red peppers. It was a nice touch to have four pieces of grilled bread ... for mopping up the sauce. Both dishes, however, were short on sauce. For our wines, DH chose a Cava and I went with a domestic Sauvignon Blanc. Both were just okay, but in fairness they were not expensive. DH specifically asked that his Cava not be brought to the table until he had his entree. But it arrived early. DH said nothing and decided to give Logan the benefit of the doubt since she was new. Dessert? One of my most memorable desserts ever was the CB Butterscotch Pot de Creme with poached pears and pecans and lovely whipped cream which was not squirted from a can. And one of my most disappointing desserts was the second time I ordered the Butterscotch Pot de Creme. At that visit I was with a friend and raved to him about the Pot de Creme. Fortunately, he ordered the bread pudding because the Pot de Creme was very runny and not thick like it should have been. Needless to say I passed on the Pot de Creme or any other dessert on our most recent visit. We had a Rubicon Bakery Carrot Cake waiting at home. I took my leftover pasta home and had it for lunch. When I reheated it, I added some water to make more of a sauce. I also toasted the leftover bread and it came out toastier and hotter than what I had at CB. We have some good memories of earlier visits to CB. Overall, prices are reasonable. Menu has some good options, but consistency with the same dish is lacking. Perhaps the difference is chefs for days of the week and also the difference between lunch and dinner. (The lunch with the runny Butterscotch Pot de Creme was the same meal where the server had great difficulty in opening and serving our bottle if Cava.) I had reached my own conclusion about future visits to Crescent Bistro and was not surprised when DH said it first: "Guess we won't be returning!" Restaurants seem to run their course, and sadly Crescent Bistro is in that category for us. read more

Went for dinner on a Wednesday and it didn't disappoint. Our server was so sweet! He made great suggestions for drinls, appdrinks, and dinner selections. We got 3 appetizers and a salad. They were all so good that we got full from th and were unable to order a proper dinner. The table also had the bread pudding and said it was delicious. We sat near the front door and it was some charm to hearing people come in and the staff saying, "nice to see you again." Those are the best restaurants to visit because you know that everyone there takes pride in what they do, and it showed in the presentations and how good the food was. Came here on Sunday evening with a party of nine people (six adults and three children). My close friend invited me to celebrate her birthday with her and her family. We had reservations considering the size of our group and were seated in the middle of the restaurant. Our server was amazing! I asked his name but it's difficult to remember so I won't butcher it. He was attentive and accommodating to our needs and requests. The entrees everyone chose ranged from chicken fettuccine, skirt steak, almond crusted salmon, and fried chicken. My entree (fettuccine) was delicious and everyone reported the same for their entrees. We passed on dessert as we had birthday cake waiting ack at the house. Good little spot for a nice lunch. Came here with my mom and aunt in between Dr visits and had a lovely light lunch. The sangria was delicious and if it wasn't a Thursday I might have had 2 glasses. The shrimp was a little undercooked for my liking but the beet salad was delicious a little over dressed but again that's for my liking. The Cuban was good but nothing amazing and the bread was slighting burnt but the inside was still barely warm, I think they tried to make it too quickly, if taken the time it would have been much better as the pork had great flavor. My mom really enjoyed her pear salad which wasn't as over dressed and had a great crunch from the macadamia nuts. Our server was very warm and friendly and took good care of us. Over all it was a good lunch cute spot and I will definitely go back but will order differently. read more

We sampled various happy hour treats including Brussels sprouts. The pozole on the regular menu caught our eye. I enjoyed it, though I added extra spice for a kick. We were directed to our table upon entering as if we were the owners. Soon after, we gave our orders and began enjoying the ambiance. I dare say that this restaurant is perfect for date night or families who would like something different. The Crispy Chicken Salad and the meatballs with slaw, not pictured , were both delicious and satisfying. The presentations for all of our selections were crafted perfectly. The beignets were warm and, if you enjoy banana, these are for you. However, can these be called such without powdered sugar? The bread pudding was one of the best I have tasted. Sunday Sept 7, 2025 2 pm. 3.7 stars. We stopped in after a 10 mile drive from Crockett for our monthly lunch date with our son. We shared food Family Style. The ambiance is sunny and lively. Whoosh whoosh as servers move quickly about the tables. Pleasant fun (to me) pumped in 70's music plays tunes barely discernible under the noise of kitchen clatter, guests chatting and an infant crying. Water and wrinkled overused paper menus are quickly placed haphazardly on our table by a friendly server and the Host. We first ordered two Irish Coffees, a Coke and Banana? Beigenets (Wife was confused when she ordered since it has banana) from our server\bartender. That lady is very friendly and diligent. Two out of three of us loved the beigenets (the bill later said we had Ricotta Beigenets.) The wife expected that Crescent Bistro would have figured out a way to somehow make the moist Banana\Ricotta enhanced pastry less doughy and more fluffy. Various servers stop by often to check on us and remove no longer needed plates. One Houdini like server snatched my silverware along with my plate without me noticing. That was quickly remedied. I expected the Irish Coffees to be served in traditional glass, so the customer can see a beautiful crown of whipped cream resting proudly atop the liquired up coffee. At Crescent they are served in standard coffee cups. While tasting delicious, I expected a more grandeur presentation for $14 a pop. Next our order of Crab Cakes (two for $9), Chicken and Waffles (it is actually one Belgian shaped waffle with 3 chicken pieces. Maybe rename it "Chickens and Waffle? :-) $22), and a Portabello Sandwich (a large dish with side salad (fries if you want) $17). The sandwich was nicely pre-cut in half for us to share and served on two plates with what looked like a bit of extra salad to make both plates more presentable. Nice touch. The three of us thought these three dishes were flavorful. I especially enjoyed seeing my son go after that chicken like Bradley Cooper near the end of the movie Nightmare Alley. We finished our meal and the bill arrives with what looks like an oily thumbprint on the wallet. I peak inside and am overjoyed! All that food and drink for under $80. I peruse the bill closely. Damn. I hate it when this happens. The bill does not reflect the around $30 dollars for the Irish Coffees. By chance I had watched "The Chosen" on Prime last night. It's about Judas Iscariot and his 30 coins. We know how that ends up. I have the waitress up the bill. Now $120.51 including tip. Crescent Bistro is a nice place with some rough edges. read more

Made a last minute New Year's Eve dinner reservation and had a great time. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived but started to peak afterwards. We had a few cocktails and it is always interesting that the waiters make the drinks. We started with the crab cakes and Parmesan fries, which were both great. We tried their chicken and waffles, banana beignets, and bistro burger with garlic fries. Our favorite dish was the chicken and waffles- the chicken is juicy and the skin is super crispy. The burger was lacking a little umph, and was cooked well done (I asked for medium). The pickle that came with was soggy and super sour too. The banana beignets were pretty good, although it didn't taste like a beignet to me (more like banana bread texture). The bruleed bananas are a great touch though. read more

I've been here a handful of times but finally got to bring my husband! We came for a quick bite to eat before seeing a movie at Century Theaters. It was a pretty full place, but we were seated quickly & had such an amazing waiter! While we didn't get full on entrees, the dishes that we did order were super delicious & will have us coming back again! I ordered the Beet Salad, since I needed to save room for movie popcorn! Very yummy & nutritious. My husband ordered the Parmesan Garlic Fries, which had great flavor, & wanted to order the Mac & cheese without the sausage. The waiter was kind enough to advise us to order the kids Mac & cheese, since it doesn't come with sausage & it's cheaper! The day that my husband, our child, and I came here it was very nice and quiet. It may have also been their opening hour. Our order was taken and came out of the kitchen quickly. To me, that's always a bonus for all the people who work together at a business. The waiter was incredibly pleasant. Unfortunately, I didn't get the gentleman's name. My hubs got a portobello mushroom burger type sandwich that came along with some Ceasar salad. Our kiddo got Mac and cheese which was almost completely devoured. I had the avocado toast. It came with medium boiled eggs on the side although they were very cold which surprised me. However, I did really love my meal and hope to return to have it at least once more. read more

I would say this is a solid 3.5-4 star place. While the quality of the food was great, some decisions with flavors were interesting. We decided to share a bunch of things and one entree instead of two entrees since we like variety. The deviled eggs were surprisingly underwhelming for what they contained as ingredients. Maybe that was the goal for a more refreshing approach, but I really didn't pick up on the cured salmon or dill at all. The pork belly buns were great. I appreciate they didn't overdo the gochujang flavor. I'm also a fan of crispier Brussel sprouts so I did like their take with the honey balsamic glaze and parmesan cheese. Normally, I always go for a beet salad and I liked how packed full of beets theirs was. However, the picked apples were a very strong flavor when already paired with a citrus vinaigrette. I think I would have preferred more traditional, simple poached apples or pears to cut down on the bite. I know Asian and fusion cuisine is accustomed to pickled veggies/fruits (my mother made her own), but I feel like it's a detractor in this case. Being a meat lover, I normally don't opt for things like the mushroom risotto, but theirs was very well done. Everything ended up being so hearty I couldn't finish, which is also rare. But it made for an excellent lunch the next day. I would love to come back to try more of their pastas at some point. One weird thing was our initial server explained the scallops for $18 were about 6, or a full entree size. Based on the menu pricing we didn't think that was correct, so the other gentleman who ended up being our server (and also bartender) corrected that it was a starter size. read more

The waffle was nice and crispy with a delicious rich sweet maple syrup and decadent bourbon pecan infused butter. If you're a fan of Chicken and Waffles, eat this! $15 Mac & Cheese...definitely an elevated version of this Southern classic! The most delicate little piece of salmon lol. BISTRO BOWL (with shrimp): This is FIRE. So fresh and well-balanced, not too heavy while very satisfying. I loved the roasted cauliflower. I've been here for dinner a couple of times, as well as happy hour and brunch. This is a good option for tasty food in Downtown Pleasant Hill, though it is a bit pricey. There is plenty of parking in the lot behind the restaurant. Service is usually good here - I've had excellent service when it's less busy, and less attentive service when it's packed. It's not a huge place, but there is a decent amount of indoor seating as well as some outdoor patio seating with heat lamps. Good for parties of 2-4 people. For any more than that, you should make a reservation. The food is the highlight here. Here are some menu items I recommend: Snacks/share plates: -Pork Belly Buns - comes with two, these are large! Gayle and I drove down to the Bay Area (from Genoa NV) last Saturday to see 2 Berkeley Rep plays (Matchbox Magic Flute and Jaja's African Hair Braiding) over the weekend. These shows are always worth the ~4 hour drive. We stopped in Pleasant Hill for Lunch, before proceeding to pick up our theater friends in Walnut Creek. We wanted to try something new, plus take a look on how Downtown Pleasant Hill has been coming along. An online review of the menu here led us to this choice. This spot has hosted other dining establishments, of which we think we've been here, but couldn't remember the name. Anyway, we came in a little early (11:30) for Lunch, but with a unique brunch menu waiting for us. Service was a little slow at first, but picked up well into our meal. The atmosphere was casual, with nicely spaced inside and outdoor tables. We chose the former as it was a little chilly outside. Gayle and I ended up ordering off the breakfast side of the menu, beginning with a tasty Bloody Mary for her and fresh squeezed orange juice for me. Her choice was the Mushroom and Swiss Omelet, while mine was the Breakfast Tacos. The former consisted of 3 eggs, crimini mushrooms, caramelized onions, spinach, Swiss cheese, and a mixed green salad on the side. The later featured cheddar cheese crusted tortillas, scrambled eggs, chorizo, and potato hash, topped with poblano pepper cream and cilantro. It's a good thing that we ate light in the early morning driving out, as the portions were generous as they were delicious. I'm not sure when we'll be back in Pleasant Hill, but there are separate Lunch and Dinner menus to consider. read more

Ceasar salad was decent but could have used a little more dressing. Jalapeno cheddar doughnuts were cheesy, soft inside, nice crunch, dipping sauce brought a bacon surprise.
