Sushi rolls are delicious, rice plates are ok. Service...BLOWS. I have enjoyed the food and dining here for dinner and would definitely give it a great rating for those few experiences. The lunch on the other hand, has been a atrocious test of patience for me . I only have an hour lunch and can typically get in and out of most restaurants in that amount of time. Everything started out the way it should have. Food and service was Ok, then I asked for my check. She brought out the wrong check , and when I informed of this, she started crossing things off on my bill and acted all confused. I had to stop her and tell her it was not my bill and she must have mixed up or something. Then she realized what she did and walked over to another table and took my bill that she mistakenly gave to another customer. I then proceed to give her my credit card. She takes it , and 5 minutes later she is walking around as if I'm not waiting for my card. I ask here what's going on and she tells me the phone line is busy and she can't charge me yet because her co-worker is on the phone and can I wait?!?! I instantly got irritated and said no , you need to charge my card because I have to go back to work . She realizes I'm pissed and goes to her co-worker and tells her to get of the phone so she can actually do the job she is paid to do . I get my card and go . I'm sorry I even left a tip. How the hell can they think it is ok to have personal conversations on the phone while ppl are waiting? The next occurence was on another attempt at lunch with my GF. First off, we ordered before we got there because we knew that they would take forever. So, I sat down and ordered additional food to go for a co worker of mine. we ate our food and I was running close to the end of my lunch waiting for this food to be ready . I was wondering what took so long since I had ordered as soon as I sat down. The waitress comes to me and tells me that my order was almost done and would be out in a few seconds. 5 minutes later I see this B*@#h go to the sushi chef and ask him what is up with those rolls. This sorry excuse for an employee proceeds to be begin to make the order I had put in 35 minutes ago. It takes another 10 to be ready, and at this point I want to jump over the bar and punch his GOKU looking face in . I couldn't belive she just told me my food was almot done when it haden't even been started on . I , of course, was late coming back to work. My review is based on my lunch experience, mostly . My recommendation would be to not come into this establishment unless you have a good amount of time to wait . Coming here with a time restraint may leave you with an empty stomach and a bad attitude. Just my two cents. read more

I had a GREAT experience here! First off, our orders were taken very quickly. While we waited for our rolls we were brought out miso soup and a small salad. Both were delicious and a nice little bonus. My friend and I got the crispy roll and the lion king roll and both were delicious! The only downside was that the rolls fell apart a little bit, but if you're not embarrassed to use your fingers a little this isn't a problem. Our plates were cleared and checks brought out very quickly. When we got the check there was one more surprise- green tea ice cream! For $10 (including tip) i got miso soup, salad, a fantastic roll, and Ice cream. I loved this place and will definitely be back when I'm in the area. read more

My hubby saw this place on Yelp & we walked in tonite around 7pm. However the place was dark and dirty dishes still on tables and sushi bar. There were 2 families eating but the place didn't have a good atmosphere or good lighting. So we walked out before trying the food. read more

We just moved to the area on new year's eve, and always get sushi as a tradition. I found Sushi Raku on Yelp and it looked okay based on the reviews. I ordered ahead through Yelp/Eat24 for pick up 2.5 hours later. The almost $80 in food was not worth it at all. Even though they had the exact time we would be there, it was as if the food had been sitting there for hours. Both orders of teriyaki (a chicken and a salmon) were cold. All rice was cold. Gyoza was cold. Lettuce was limp and obviously from a bag. The rolls we ordered were meh at best. The rolls that were supposed to be deep fried were cold and soggy with their sauce. This is just based on service for a to-go order and the environment I walked into. There is one sushi maker on staff--always. And one waitress running the rest of the show. She was very unorganized and unsure. She stop what she was going to answer the phone or seat people, etc. definitely not a multi-tasker. The environment is dry and quiet and awkward. The waitress told me there was ONE large order ahead of mine and so it would be a minimum 35 minute wait for my order. Of course, she told me this after running my credit card so what could I do? I had to ask where to sit and wait since there is no designated waiting area. She also did not offer me any water or anything while I was waiting. I ordered udon, gyoza, and 7 rolls--any other place I have been to would be more friendly for such a large order. I was unpleasantly surprised by the lack of attention. read more

A good japanese restaurant in Concord. Who would of thought that a place like Concord would have a decent Japanese place?! Anyways, we enjoyed the food and the service. I had a few rolls and the grilled mackeral which was great.....grilled the way it should be, with a slight char. By the way, I heard you only want to go to japanese restaurants that are owned by Japanese or Koreans....this place is owned by koreans. If you're ever stuck in Concord or the east bay, give Sushi Raku a try if you want some clean, good food. read more

A little pricey, the food was good but I've never felt so rushed in all my life!! This was our first time here and my husband, myself and my two kids went to give it try. We ordered some food and kept a menu in case we wanted to order another roll, which we did specify this to the waiter. When we were ready to order again he proceeded to tell us the kitchen was closed. Then as we were eating the staff put all the chairs on the tables around us and then stood there staring at us as if we had to finish as fast as we could. This is a good place and my husband loves it - so lately we started going often. But....they do need to know how to provide good service - especially compared to the many sushi restaurants in the area that a lot of us have frequented. First, say hello and good bye to each customer group. Second, bring all appetizers out PRIOR to the entrees. Third, take away empty bowls and plates each time they visit a table. Fourth, always provide low sodium soy sauce along with the regular and ask if we need anything else. That's it. Sushi is my thing. This place caught my eye on restaurants.com. When we arrived, place was packed with Japanese patrons (good sign). The staff move quickly and they are eager to please. We ordered tempura, chirashi sushi, and a specialty roll. The tempura was done well, crispy, not too thick on the batter, and not greasy. The Chirashi sushi was beautifully presented and everything was very fresh. The hot nite roll was tasty however, the little cruncy panko/tempura flakes were a little stale. Otherwise, we both thought the food was excellent. For those of you that are sushiphiles in CoCoCounty, this place is better than House of Sake, Miraku, Oishi Grill, Damo Sushi, Kane Sushi (Lafayette), Yokoso, Suwa, and Tamami. Sushi Raku is almost as good as my all time favorite, Happy Roll. I think once they work out a few kinks (it seems they just opened early Nov. 2008), they could become my favorite. read more

This place use to be a favorite of mine, until my recent visit with my family. There were four workers, and we were the only five people in the restaurant the entire time we were there. The owner was sitting there, but never once addressed us. She even had a friend stop by, where they and the rest of the staff were chatting and laughing at a high volume. The waitress kept forgetting to give us items like soup, salad, straws, spoon (for my little brother), water (never got a refill, even after asking three times), and none of our empty plates were being taken away (even though they kept bringing us our other orders- leaving the table way overcrowded). The tekka roll wasn't fresh at all, and it was such a small piece of tuna with tons of rice. The spider roll easily fell apart, and the tonkatsu was extremely dry and bland. The chef was obviously too busy leaving his counter to walk around and talk to the owner and other staff. This was the first time my family has been to Sushi Raku. They were very disappointed, especially since I use to rave about the place. To make things worse, the owner finally decides to say something to us when we were leaving. She rudely questioned us on the reason for our choice of tip. I've had numerous waitressing occupations and have never questioned or seen an employee question the customer on their tip choice. Very unprofessional! I'm sticking with sushi restaurant on Monument (sushi momoyama). They give free soup, salad, and a free sushi roll. read more
