Japanese Cheesecake - Matcha

Delicious local sushi shop with high quality fish!!! :3 My partner found them on Yelp-- we decided to swing by after running errands. The freshness blew us away. We'll be back :D We were seated immediately on Sunday afternoon. The staff are gracious and very attentive. Interior is modern and minimal and kinda looks like it used to be a Chipotle LOL OYSTERS: Kumamotos are my fav :3 Topped with some sort of horseradish, masago, green onion combination~ GOLDEN EGG SAMPLER: SO MUCH QUAIL EGG. I think this would have been better shared with two others (so much... yolk...), but fresh & delicious nonetheless OCEAN BREEZE ROLL: Minimal sauce to highlight the fish flavor...! With just the right amount of rice; not too vinegar-y, either. You can really taste the sweetness in each fish. I'm super impressed~ MATCHA CHEESECAKE: Light in sweetness but dense. Very creamy with distinct matcha flavor. We loved it! For their Mother's Day special, they offered a free piece of jewelry (???) for any receipt total over $100. I chose a black metal ring. Never seen a deal like this before...? Though... The only bummer is the use of AI everywhere in the restaurant, from the art on their Yelp to the sushi-themed playlist ^^;; Ofc I wouldn't ding them a star for it, but it does affect perception of their authenticity a bit. Still a great restaurant-- my hope is that patronizing them more will lead to working with real artists...!

Looking for a quick bite, we stopped by Shin Sushi, tucked inside a strip mall near DVC. The inside is cute, and it seems pretty new to the neighborhood. Our waitress was friendly, which made the experience pleasant right away. We went straight for the lunch menu and ordered a roll along with some sake. The food came out quickly, which was perfect since we were just looking for something fast. Overall, I'd say the meal was mid not amazing, but it definitely satisfied my hunger and did the job.

Came back here recently since I was in the area. The menu expanded since I was last here. Service is still awesome and food comes out soon after. Need to come back here for happy hour!

Such a cute local sushi spot. Came here for dinner on a Sunday to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Highly recommend making reservations which we did. It got pretty busy. The sushi was good and fresh. The crunchy taco sushi's were really good. I liked the crunchiness of the seaweed. We got our food pretty fast except they forgot two of our orders but once we told them we got it pretty fast. Desserts were ok. Something to try at least once. Perks: for every $100 you spend you get to pick jewelry from a shelf they have which includes necklaces, bracelets and rings. Also they have a stamp card for every sushi roll you order. Lots of parking. Would highly recommend trying this restaurant!

I've been to Shin Sushi twice now and would gladly go back. One small but thoughtful touch: they sell their own house soju sauce, and there's a cup of ginger on the table so you can take as much -- or as little as you want. It's a simple detail, but it prevents waste and lets you control your plate instead of automatically getting a pile you didn't ask for. Overall, the sushi was very good. My personal benchmark for "amazing" sushi is when I take a bite and think, "This is the best ___ I've ever had." Shin had one or two pieces that hit that level, and everything else was solidly good across the board. The texture was right, the fish was clean, and the execution was consistent. I ordered the Shin Moriawase (12 pieces of assorted sashimi and 6 pieces of chef-selected nigiri for $55.95). Comparable sushi in San Francisco or other major cities would easily run 50% more. Strong quality, fair pricing, and thoughtful touches. A very solid Pleasant Hill option.

Valentine's Dinner for 3 was well-received and we enjoyed our meal very much. I would come back when in the area. Food: Great quality sushi with the Moriawase, cut rolls and hand rolls. Pricing was ~$58/person inc. 20% for great service. Good price overall. We indulged and felt very full. Service: very attentive, polite, pleasant. The food came out fast, in fact our meal took only 45-mins. Worth mentioning: 1) wasabi was tasteless as was the soy sauce which was not salty at all. 2) Ginger was excellent! Served in a separate container, it was the best ever. 3) Yakitori dinner was just ok. I'd come back for the sushi and service... and ginger!

Such a cute To-Go box!

I've been a fan of this spot ever since it opened and they just keep getting better with every visit! The food has always been top notch, but it seems like every time I stop by there is another cute little detail added to make the experience even better than before! From the adorable song that plays while you're inside to the well-designed to go boxes, it's very apparent that this restaurant puts in every bit of effort they can into making every guests experience a pleasant one :) Thank you, Shin Sushi! I'll definitely be back again soon ^.^

Shin Sushi is a great little neighborhood sushi spot in Pleasant Hill. The vibe is fun and welcoming and they even play custom Shin Sushi music in the background. The food was excellent. The fish was fresh and absolutely delicious. I ordered the Shin Moriawase (12 pieces of assorted sashimi and 6 pieces of chef-selected nigiri), and it did not disappoint. My 2 young kids had a great meal too. The service was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience enjoyable. I loved all the cat decor (to include the little cat dishes to put your soy sauce!).

Love going to this place! Sushi is always quality and there hasn't been anything we've ordered that we were disappointed with. there aren't many tables, but I haven't seen people having to wait too long when all tables are filled (probably because this place isn't too well-known yet). Still, always very clean and such cute decor. The owner is always so nice to us when we come. We have a daughter and when we go there she knows to ask for coloring pages that the restaurant provides. My favorite is the salmon nigiri (basic, I know) but the salmon is always SO buttery--it's almost ruined every other salmon nigiri I get anywhere else. Will always come back as food and service is always top notch!

Amazing service, great sushi. I have not tried sushi as great as this since my trip to Japan. The service was great and they enjoy their customers. They offered punch cards after so many rolls or nigiri. Had no complaints at all.

Finally a good sushi on a budget place! The specialty rolls are $15 and very filling This place is the only place I know that has these Nori crunch rolls and they were easily my favorite items that I got. Fish here tasted fresh and everything was so good! For the price, tasted and time of service everything was top notch. Definitely coming back

Was staying in the area for a wedding the next day and was craving sushi. Shin came among the top places nearby and I am so glad I selected them. The waitress very friendly and attentive and the quality of the food was excellent. Not the best sushi I have ever had, but certainly comparable to spots I frequent in the LA area. The space itself is modern and nicely decorated. The food came out promptly and I thoroughly enjoyed everything I had. Would definitely come back again.

I'm always craving sushi but I'm extremely picky. They don't offer real crab (unless you get a soft shell crab roll) but other than that, the food was great & customer service was delightful. Thanks Amy!!

We ordered three different sushi rolls and gyoza using the kiosk. We specifically requested that one of the rolls be made without cream cheese, but when we got home, it still had cream cheese in it. We also noticed that our order came out after customers who had ordered after us, which wasn't a huge deal, but it was a little surprising. Since we only live about five minutes away, the drive home was short. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food. The sushi wasn't very flavorful, and overall it was some of the least enjoyable sushi we've had. The incorrect order only added to the disappointment. The following morning, both of us weren't feeling well. While we can't say for certain what caused it, the timing made the experience even more concerning. Overall, between the unwelcoming service, the order not being prepared as requested, and the disappointing food, we won't be returning and wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

Tucked away in Walnut Creek, this is the perfect intimate, casual sushi spot for a relaxed date night or dinner with friends. The welcoming atmosphere, attentive service, and fresh ingredients made for an outstanding dining experience. We started with the shrimp and vegetable tempura, which arrived hot, crispy, and perfectly light without feeling greasy. It was the ideal appetizer to share. For our rolls, we ordered the Volcano Roll, featuring spicy tuna and shrimp tempura, and the Arizona Roll, made with crab and topped with seared albacore. Both were beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The freshness of the fish was the star of the meal. The seared albacore on the Arizona Roll practically melted in your mouth, and every bite had a clean, fresh taste that showcased the quality of the ingredients. The Volcano Roll delivered a delicious combination of textures and flavors, with just the right amount of spice and crunch. Nothing was overpowering--you could truly taste the freshness of the fish and the care that went into each roll. The restaurant was spotless, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming throughout our visit. Service was prompt without feeling rushed, allowing us to enjoy the meal at a comfortable pace. Fresh fish, crispy tempura, creative rolls, and exceptional hospitality make this a standout sushi destination in Walnut Creek. The only downside? Once you finish your last piece, you'll wish you had ordered more. We enjoyed our experience so much that we're already looking forward to coming back to try the omakase, which will definitely be on our next order.
