Even though there were a number of patrons there was no waiting period The food I ordered looked so inviting and perfectly put together. Excellent presentation. Parking is ample and easy. Consistently exceptional service and quality of food. The freshness and quality of the fish is always solid. The fish just melts in your mouth! For the price you pay, you definitely get great quality. Parking is never usually a problem for us, and service is fast at lunch time. For dinner, service is decently paced for it being dinner time. The servers usually explain the variety of fish when brought to the table. We typically eat here for dinner, but eating for lunch is nice when you're on the go and want something light. The appetizers are good as well - we usually get chicken kara age and agedashi tofu. Chicken kara age is lightly battered and crisp, but not too crunchy. Good flavor, doesn't need dipping sauce! The agedashi tofu is very light and comes in a subtle sauce. Makes for a great appetizer. Typically, we get the sashimi mix and order a few pieces off of the individual paper menu. We tried the Amberjack this time and I would say this is a new favorite! Albacore and Yellowtail are always at the top for us because these literally just melt in your mouth. Also recommend the Flounder! We are regular customers to this place because it's clean, has a great variety of fish, good quality and good service. I am finally writing a review for this place! I've been here multiple times for dinner and it never disappoints. Food and service have always been amazing. I've tried many other sushi restaurants around Dallas and Sushi Sake is by far my favorite! Food 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 love the interior of this place :) Service 4/5 The sushi quality is very fresh, the freshest you can get in Dtown! FYI, they do not have the usual Americanized special sushi rolls, only the simple rolls. I think I've tried almost everything on the menu from the sushi/sashimi platters, udon, tempura, soba noodles, rice bowls.. hahah they were all good! ZERO complaints on any of their food items. I would highly suggest the sushi & sashimi combination, fresh & delicious! They do not take reservations (only reservations for party of 6 or more) so be prepared to wait if you go during busy hours. OMG !!! Awesome place to dine !!! My waitress was wonderful. She brought me a hot towel to cleanse my hands and then she poured my Cabernet Sauvignon which was awesome. I ordered the sashimi mix which was totally Slap Yo Momma Good and a bowl of miso soup which was delicious. The sushi was very fresh and high quality. The place was quiet, clean, and relaxing. First, I love the location. 10 bonus points for it being in a secluded area away from other restaurants and another 5 points for it having an actual parking lot with lots of spaces. Then add on, oh let's say 7 points for the fact that my waitress, Siva was incredibly attentive and friendly and that the food came out really quick even with a lunch crowd. I ordered the chirashi ju (sashimi mix with rice - $15) and kaki fry (fried oysters - $8) and both items were amazing. A whopping 35 bonus points for the huge oysters being incredibly fresh, fried perfectly and served with an amazing slightly sweet dipping sauce as well as a spicy mustard sauce. I could have ordered 20 more. The sashimi was simple and tasted very clean and the rice couldn't have been any more perfect. There were so many interesting items on the menu that I would definitely recommend coming here with a large group and taking your time with exploring the menu. Seriously authentic Japanese cuisine, as a matter of fact, perhaps the most authentic Japanese restaurant on DFW! Came with a friend for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised! All of the staff was very nice and attentive. I recommend sitting at the sushi bar if you can because then you get to watch all of the sushi masters in action! Tamago: sweet egg nigiri with a small amount of rice in the middle, very tasty. Sweet shrimp nigiri: very fresh, don't forget to eat the fried shrimp heads! Chirashi: good option if you're looking for a variety of fish. What surprised me was authenticity of the restaurant. In Japan when you order nigiri, the chefs hand if to you, or place your order on a plate, then you are encouraged to eat the nigiri with your hands. All of the fish was super fresh, and if you feel like you're having a ball, buy the chef a beer for only $1! Specials are written on the chalk board behind the sushi bar, and there's a tanuki that will great you when you enter the restaurant :) read more

This was my go to spot when I first moved to Dallas. Sushi sake has a beautiful japanese style interior with dim lights that set the mood. Their sushi is consistantly fresh. When my friends visited they were able to accommodate a party of 10 in the private section in the back that I did not know existed! Get the Uni and toro here, its worth it 100%. read more

It's a nice spot that's hidden in Richardson. The menu is a little conservative in options but what they do have is delicious. I had the Amiyaki beef and the unagi. Both were spot on. The only downside is that it's pretty packed and more often than not you are going to wait a bit for a table but the experience is worth it. read more

I don't see why lots of people love this joint. I think that everything screams average from the food to the atmosphere. The only thing I actually liked (which is not even unique) is the seats having big cushions. Otherwise, the food is average appearing and tasting. To make matters even worse, the service was supremely slow. It literally took 1 hour to get our food and we didn't even order that much. We thought for 5 seconds if we wanted to order more, but quickly decided on not doing that because we didn't want to wait another hour. Someone in our group ordered a hot tea and it took 30 minutes to get. Our server didn't even apologize--just acted like that's how it is around here. Maybe if she apologized I'd have a different opinion, but like I'm alluding to, very poor customer service is rampant here. I will never be back and I would recommend you stay away from this generic Japanese restaurant. Pretty good place in Richardson. Started off with a miso soup, which was included with my 'Sushi B' combo. It seemed a little more mild than some other restaurants I've been to. Next up was chicken yakitori. Two decent size skewers. The chicken was juicy and tender. The sauce was again slightly more mild than some other restaurants I've been to. My main course was the 'sushi b' combo. Seem like a good price to portion ratio. I wasn't a fan of all the items, but it be like that sometimes. I wish sushi restaurants in general had more options for combos. Everything seemed like good quality, and our chef did a good job putting everything together, and nothing fell apart on me. I have no major complaints, but also there was nothing outstanding that really wowed me, therefore I'll give this a four out of five. read more

Came here on a Monday night to avoid the crowd just in case . I've Been here a couple of times and the first time I couldn't remember how good or bad was it so I gave it another chance to refresh my taste bud. We were sat down right away and we felt welcomed. We ordered some starters like the grill beef tongue, the grill Chilean sea bass. Both was tasteful and delicious. For sashimi , we ordered the toro market price, albacore white tuna, red snapper , uni , salmon roe, Spainish mackerel . All came out fresh and it was a perfect meal. This time around the good and fresh sushi really refresh my taste bud and it will be on one of my favorite sushi place to visit when I travel to Dallas every month. Came here with an amazing friend of mine. Upon pulling up to Sushi Sake I was a little skeptical because it is sort of situated in an odd spot. However, when I started walking up to the building the ambiance was exquisite. The trees in front were lovely and the decor inside was aesthetically pleasing. Once we got situated the service was very accommodating. Our server handed us a warm towel and asked us right away what we would like. The menu was a bit confusing to the eyes of a 25 year old teenager. It was a fairly smaller menu with simpler sushi rolls than other restaurants I have been to. We sat at the sushi bar so it was a very fun experience with the chefs making the food right In front of you. It is a perfect spot for a date: Tinder date, 5 year relationship date, Newley weds, 7 month relationship, or even a sugar daddy date(I don't discriminate) We ordered the seaweed salad, tuna roll, spicy tuna rolls and veggie sushi. The sushi was very simple but good. The spicy tuna rolls could have been a bit spicer and the ginger was excellent. This is the best sushi restaurant I've been to in Texas! They have the best sashimi, and I don't understand how they do it. The sashimi tastes more fresh than anything I've had in other sushi restaurants. It's truly high quality. There's a wait time, because they're always full, but it's worth it because of the quality of food. The wait staff are always friendly, and some people have commented on the hostess being "rude", but in my opinion, she's just direct. Other than sashimi, I ordered the dobin mushi and the ginger pork. The dobin mushi is a delightful and light broth, served in a teapot, that I recommend everyone try. Adding the lime juice also enhances the flavour and elevates the taste of the broth. It's simply wonderful, and this is the one restaurant I know that serves it. The ginger pork is also phenomenal. The flavours are so well balanced, and the taste of ginger is highlighted but doesn't overwhelm you. I have yet to find a better ginger pork. It's also nice that it's a set, so you get a salad and miso soup to accompany the meal. I always love coming to this restaurant, because they have high quality dishes, especially the sushi/sashimi and offer dishes I could not otherwise find in other Japanese restaurants. I had to wait for space for one person to be available, but after 10 minutes a spot at the bar opened up. I love sitting at the sushi bar because it gives you the chance to interact with the sushi chefs and see them in action. The woman sitting next to me was a regular with our chef, so I reaped the reward of that introduction. I had my usuals, salmon with a paper thin slice of lemon, scallop, tuna, egg plus the most sweet, succulent sweet shrimp with crispy head accompaniment. Each piece was fresh, well presented. The quality of their fish is excellent. I would've given them more stars if they had been more consistent with their plates. My friends and I ordered two sashimi combinations, which should have come out identical, but the sashimi pieces on one of the plates were literally half the size of the pieces on the other plate. I understand that sashimi pieces can't be exactly identical because fish filets are not totally even, but the pieces were HALF the size of the other ones, which is TOO much of a difference. Another con to this place was that my friend asked for more ginger and was told it would be an additional charge - meh. The pros of this place are that all the chefs looked like authentic sushi chefs, the agedashi tofu was nice and crispy, and the décor is awesome. Been a few years. Went back recently. Great sushi - melts in your mouth fresh. Top quality. Why four stars? As a dining experience it is wanting. A night out is more than just great food. Sushi sake does not take reservations and is super popular, and very small. So be prepared to wait - in your car. The seats in the restaurant when you do get a table do not have backs, and most tables are shared with other customers. I literally was bumping elbows with the couple seated next to me. And it is loud- like you can't hear each other talk loud. The food is great - best sushi I've had in the metroplex, but it with so many other fine dining options in the metroplex, it will probably be years till I am back. read more

Hands down the best Japanese food you can get in Richardson and it's not for super expensive like uchi or Tei an. So me and the girl came here on valentine day well two hours wait. Guess not tonight. So we ended up going the day after which is only a 45 minutes wait which is not bad for a weekend. So we sat at the sushi bar area and obviously we ordered sushi and every sushi they made is comparable to tei-an, uchi etc the rice is so soft that you know for sure it's not from a cheap restaurant. In addition, they actually have real wasabi you just need to ask for it which will make the sushi much better. Top recommend item to order is their scallop sushi and yellow tail. Had to laugh when the soup came out-it was in this tiny teapot thing with hardly anything in it. I was expecting an actual bowl of soup-lesson learned lol. Showed up with my boyfriend at 6pm (30 min after they opened) on Valentine's day with no reservation and it was CRAZY PACKED. They let people order drinks while they waited. It took about an hour for us to get seated at the bar. We both ordered omakase. When I asked the waiter about the cost, he said "it depends on the chef. Usually it's like $100". I was confused, but proceeded with it anyway. Our chef was Take-san. He served us 14 courses in total. He gave us monkfish pate (sounds ew but was yum), toro, hamachi, red snapper(yum af), flounder fin (must try), golden eye snapper, uni, scallop, crab, salmon, tuna, negitoro, etc. I attached pics. We let the chef know that my boyfriend was allerigic to scallop before we started so he gave him crab instead. Take-san told us the name of each fish as he served it and advised us whether to use soy sauce or not. We had no idea when the food was going to stop coming, but at the 14th course, he asked if we were full. And then the waiter came and he told him the amount of courses that we ate. So for 14 courses, it cost $80 each. Not bad at all for fresh, quality fish. Now and then, Take-san would fulfill orders from other tables but 90% of his time was dedicated to us and he always made sure we were busy eating while he made other orders. I hate to write bad reviews but this one is a must so that others can be aware. Yes, quality of the sushi is great and I'm a repeat customer. However, if you're needing to make a large party reservation then PLEASE BE WARNED!!!! I had dinner on 7/8/23 and made a reservation for a large party to celebrate my birthday for 7/15/23. The front person said that since my party exceeded 12 people then they will need for me to provide them of the order ahead of time and that someone will contact me in advance to take the order. I had asked all of my friends to review the menu and provide me what they wanted to order ahead of time since the restaurant was strict and that was their requirement. Friday night on 7/14/23 at 8:46pm, I received a call from the restaurant and they said that my reservation was CANCELLED for Saturday 6pm!!!! I never received a call or message from them during the week to take the pre-order. I reviewed the call log and no missed calls from them. I even typed up the list of all the orders received from my friends and was ready when they called. I asked to speak with the manager and she said that it was not enough time for them to make the food for next day party reservation at 6pm so my reservation made from a week ago was cancelled - she didn't want to hear from me so she hung up. Yes, their food is good but how they treat repeat customers is UNEXCEPTABLE. DO NOT MAKE LARGE PARTY RESERVATIONS W/ SUSHI SAKE. THEY'RE SUPER STRICT AND IF NO ONE CALLS TO TAKE THE PRE-ORDER, THEY WILL CALL YOU TO CANCEL YOUR RESERVATION WITH NO REGARDS. HORRIBLE SERVICE!! So been coming here for years. They run a pretty tight ship with their hours. Don't dare appear after 1:30 when they close at 2. You'll get a lecture from the manager looking lady. This review is not about that. We made sure we arrived early enough to bypass the potential lecture for lunch. Had a, as usual, nice lunch. We asked for the oranges as usual which usually yields a full orange cut in half with the orange itself cut and arranged in an attractive manner. Today we were given what appeared to be remnants of an orange. These remnants are like what fell on the floor or was discarded as excess. We asked the server why we were served these small pieces and the response was that this is the new way the orange was being served. Okay. If business is that bad then add .25 to each dish or just charge for the orange. Maybe they should just put 1 grain of rice around the roll if their finances are that bad. It's just plain insulting.
