Super yummy! I loved the little gyozas, can never go wrong with edamame, and the sushi was perfect! I especially loved our boozy, foamy matcha drink!
Great quality nigiri and the crispy rice apps were incredible. The matcha coconut drink was a fan favorite. Everyone in the table have to do the all you can eat from the same tier.
I really wanted to love this place, and while the food itself was actually quite good, the business model and service flow made for a very disappointing experience. I haven't been hangry in a long time... Not built for large groups. We came in as a party of 8 for the advertised All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE), but this restaurant seems better suited for groups of 4 or fewer. We waited 15 minutes just to wave someone down to take an initial order, and our drink orders were never taken at all--we just stuck with water. The back of the menu lists several rules, including a 10-item limit per order and a 90-minute time limit for the table. For a large group, this makes it nearly impossible to eat. Our first roll didn't arrive until 45 minutes after ordering. The first dishes to arrive were the grilled items and salads. Even if you max out the 10-item limit, the kitchen seems unable to keep up; we noticed most other tables were also sitting without food. The staff seemed to recognize our frustration, so this isn't a critique of the individuals, but rather the management of the floor. If they are going to open a second level for seating, the kitchen needs to be able to handle the volume. If you're hungry, I'd suggest booking two separate smaller tables or skipping a large group visit here entirely. If not for the server, this would have been a one-star experience.
Deliciousness - 4/5 Happiness - 5/5 It's nice to see all-you-can-eat sushi places making a comeback. Although not quite worth the price, I had a good time here (and left MORE than full). As is often the case for all you can eat places, things were variable in their quality. The sashimi was uniformly good, and nice thick slices to boot. The spicy salmon roll was another standout, greatly balancing the salmon and sauce. The chicken and egg rice was delectable and unique, something we wolfed down multiple portions of. The shishito peppers came with a nice dipping sauce. There were things that I'd definitely avoid the second time around though. The cauliflower steak and vegetarian rolls desperately needed some seasoning (and for the cauliflower, more crunch). While the angel hair pasta concoction was also something I'd never come across, I was the only one of the 3 of us to enjoy it. And the In-n-Out inspired roll was just bad. The beef was strangely flavored, the cheese made the whole thing mushy, and it didn't look appetizing to boot. The servers were very good - friendly, accommodating, and helped us navigate the menu with aplomb. One cool thing is that they had restaurant-wide drink specials. So we were able to get beer for about $4/glass, which was a good deal. It filled us up faster for sure!
And just like that, I'm back again! This time for their all you can eat sushi which is $55 per person and 20% gratuity is already included. Here's a little bit more about our experience: + service was really good. Our waitress allowed us to sit just about anywhere in the restaurant because it wasn't too busy. + Items I loved: salmon, avocado and yellowtail nigiri. Their potstickers are pretty good too and the salad was refreshing. The edamame is standard (wish they did a spicy version). We also tried their dragon roll and spicy tuna. All of the pieces of fish were big and fresh. The salmon specifically melted in your mouth like butter + Items I didn't love as much: I tried their chicken rice dish and was not a fan at all. It was very mushy and because of that I was offput by the texture. + and the ambiance is really cute in here with really good throwbacks playing in the background. Perfect spot to connect with friends or go on a date Overall I would definitely come back to get their all you can eat menu again. I think it was fairly priced for someone who eats a decent amount.
Make sure you come here with a healthy appetite! The thing I really like about this place is that when you place an order with your server, it doesn't take too long for the items to come out. Also, the service here was great. Our server was very attentive, and I felt like she was always ready to place our next order. We did the premium AYCE. Note, there are a couple of items that are limited to only 1 per person (even though it's AYCE), which wasn't explained very well when we first chose this option and somewhat defeats the purpose of an AYCE option, but for the most part it's worth the price. We tried pretty much the entire menu, and I'll say I liked most of what we had. The sushi items were fresh, and the portion sizes are healthy. My favorites are the mentaiko angel hair pasta, the steak (limited), and the dragon roll. The only thing - we sat upstairs and it was really cold and drafty the whole time we were there. They eventually had to bring a space heater out. I highly recommend and I will definitely be back.
Sushi lovers--this spot is a must. Visited Sushi Sato and had such a great experience from start to finish. The space is cozy, the vibes are perfect for date night or a chill dinner, and the food was incredibly fresh. We tried the crispy rice tuna, king salmon, truffled tuna, and yellowtail nigiri--all top-tier. They're also serving Japanese uni on medium-fatty bluefin tuna imported from California, which was a standout if you love premium sushi. Hot dishes did not disappoint. The miso black cod was melt-in-your-mouth savory, and the steak grilled skewer was absolutely delicious. Cocktails were just as good--the Lychee Crush, Matcha Cloud, and Honey Lavender Martini were smooth, balanced, and easy to enjoy. Highly recommend the Sato Roll (soft shell crab, eel, avocado, cucumber, eel sauce, topped with ikura). So good. Special shoutout to Simon for amazing service and making the experience even better. Sushi Sato has only been open about 7 months, but they're already doing things right. I'll definitely be back.
Shout out to Sushi Sato for being so accommodating in holding our bikes. The staff was able to find space for them inside when we realized we didn't pack our bike lock to secure our bikes outside the restaurant. Very thankful that they didn't turn us away as I was on a mission to stuff my face. I was excited to try AYCE sushi in DC while also seeing how the sushi compared to the AYCE restaurants in NoVa. We opted for the standard AYCE menu and went to town. I was impressed to see the various diverse group of diners supporting their new opening. I had a large appetite to try the majority of the items on the menu below though could have done without the grill items or garden roll. My favorites were the spicy mentaiko angel hair, pacific roll, chicken karaage, and nigiri. Something also worth mentioning was that I left confused if gratuity was automatically added and paid using ApplePay and therefore didn't have the receipt. The Managing Partner of Sushi Sato took the extra time to look into tracking down my receipt to re-confirm. It was sincerely appreciated and cared in how they handled this inquiry. I left the evening feeling satisfied and was fueled up to ride my bike back to VA! Ordered delivery from this spot and have mixed thoughts. Overall - the food, delicious. Other than the edamame being unflavored, the sushi itself was really good. The reason why I couldn't give it 5 stars is because: 1) the size of the edamame was awfully small. Small enough where I'm had to point it out 2) they didn't include soy sauce. Luckily I had some 3) they included 2 sets of chopsticks (thankfully) but only 1 napkin 4) lastly their side of spicy mayo was $4, which I believe is a little unreasonable even for delivery. I ended up making my own. All in all, even disregarding the spicy mayo point - which it just may be the cost for them, so I'll give them that one - mixed reviews. Definitely will try them again, perhaps in person because the sushi was yummy. Just disappointed in the packaging and size of the edamame.

Ne-Yo, Ashanti, Akon, Usher, Ray J, Rihanna... it was giving grown folks soundtrack all night. THE FOOD? Phenomenal. Every. Single. Dish. * Green Salad - crisp, refreshing * Edamame - perfectly salted * Rice Puff Rock Shrimp - crispy, light, addictive * Marinated Mackerel - rich, silky, beautifully seasoned * Dragon Specialty Roll - layered, flavorful, a true standout * Double Shrimp Tempura Roll - hot, crunchy, Tempura perfection * Tuna Sashimi - buttery freshness * Spicy Tuna Classic Roll - flavorful with the perfect kick * Garden Roll - clean, refreshing. The only two misses? * The Lychee Yuzu Crush tasted like dry wine--beautiful drink, just not great flavor-wise. The crush is traditionally sparkly sweet. Great concept but it just didn't hit. * The draft from the door to the bar--it's strong, and not in a good way. If you're seated in its path, you'll feel it. I think the only way to avoid it may be sitting upstairs. Even with those small quirks, Sushi Sato is easily a top-tier dining experience. Fresh sushi, elite service, a throwback playlist, and an overall vibe that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. I'll absolutely be back--just picking a different cocktail and a seat away from the draft!
Sushi Sato's happy hour menu is what attracted me. I ordered a few items from that menu, including the sweet potato roll, grilled chicken, $1 gyozas, and $2 shrimp tempura. The sweet potato roll was my favorite from the group, as the potato texture felt strong enough to feel like any other protein, and it's hard to beat the $6 price. The chicken was also well seasoned and soft. I also tried the In N Out roll from the main menu, which was interesting. It's a creative risk that resembles the burger spot's thousand island sauce and beef. It's interesting and maybe an acquired taste but I appreciate the creativity. The service was great and I hope to return.
$55 all you can eat review: I came here on a Saturday with a reservation and we were seated immediately upon arrival. The waitress was very attentive and explained the menu thoroughly. We started with the salmon and tuna sashimi both very fresh. Then moved on to nigiri: salmon, tuna, yellowtail, eel, cooked shrimp, mackerel and tomago. All were very good with the exception of the yellowtail which was a bit fishy for me. Next we moved on to the special rolls: dragon, in and out, pacific and double shrimp. The dragon and pacific were worth it but in and out and double shrimp really fell short for us. They really load on the rice and texture is one more. Overall the place is good and worth the price!
This is such a cute sushi spot on H Street -- definitely something the area needed! I first tried them during H Street Festival and ordered the crispy rice with spicy tuna. It was good, just a little too thick for my taste. My son and I decided to visit again on a Friday to dine in, and I have to say, I wasn't expecting the inside to be this clean, modern, and inviting. We were seated right away, and our waitress came over promptly to take our order. We tried the double-fried shrimp tempura (they even accommodated my request to have it as a burrito -- love that!), plus the $2 shrimp tempura, spicy shrimp roll, and spicy tuna roll from the happy hour menu. Everything was fresh and delicious! I'll definitely be back.
Delicious spot for elevated AYCE sushi, I was particularly impressed by the presentation and taste of the side plates/non-sushi items. We definitely got great value out of the meal! I appreciated the perfectly warm sushi rice, the salmon was buttery soft. Eel was firm and flaky, sato roll was our favorite roll. The miso cod had an amazing texture and sauce but was way too salty. The tako taco was one of my favorite small plates. Would skip the steak which was super tough, and truffle baby roll which was too creamy. Our waitress was super fast and attentive and food came out quickly! Nothing notable about the ambiance. read more

There are several levels to sushi Sato. Discussing the first floor. I went in to enjoy their happy hour and unlimited sushi. I purchased the first option since I was more interested in the basic sashimi/nigiri and was very impressed. It was so fresh and every bite was extremely tender. I believe the time limit is 90 minutes, but I was done at about the hour mark. I sat at the bar which made the ordering experience very easy. There are several tables on the first floor and a second floor devoted to table seating. My bartender was great and provided excellent service. They have pretty good happy hour specials as well--$3beers, apps decently priced. Overall really easy and nice experience. I popped in early on a Friday afternoon and found the place to be somewhat busy, but not too packed that I needed to make a reservation. I would suggest one if coming after six since it did pick up. My next foray on another weekend on the third floor (i believe it's called red lantern) was so fun. It's set up as a karaoke floor with TVs to see the lyrics and sing all around. The space is smaller, but tables are spread out for you to sit with your group. There's also a bar with a few seats if that interests you. You can order food and drinks and the song selection process is easy. I enjoyed a cocktail, a delicious Japanese take on a grilled cheese (which was amazing and like nothing I had before), and a Japanese whiskey cocktail. The bartender serving me gave me a Japanese whiskey tasting which was pretty unique. I'm a big fan of Japanese whiskey! Sushi Sato and red lantern are so much fun and I encourage everyone to give both floors a try for good food and fun. read more

Went for the all you could eat menu and I definitely ate all I could! This might be my favorite sushi restaurant to go to. The ambiance was nice and upscale. The small plates/sides were just as good as the sushi. I also appreciated the different priced menu tiers. My friend and I chose the most expensive option, but so much good stuff is already included in the first two tiers. read more

Amazing All You Can Eat Sushi with an Al A Carte option as well. With so many new places for AYCE Sushi in the area, this is one of the best ones. It is quite upscale with two tiers and can save some money through paying on InKind. We got the premium tier two times partly to get an extra discount with InKind. The cocktails are great too and they have an all you can drink option for Kloud Beer which we haven't tried. The ambiance is stylish and the service is great. Good, fresh, delicious sushi. My sister and I went for happy hour which happens Monday through Friday 4:30-7 i believe. They have a really good spicy tuna as well as pretty good chicken skewer. I didn't get to have any drinks because I was sick, but the service was amazing. The bartender continuously checked in on us and made sure our waters were always filled. We got to ask him questions to help us understand how things taste and it was very helpful. The ambiance is beautiful and is very nice for a first date or a quick after work happy hour. read more
I came here with a friend when Sushi Sato just opened up over the summer. The interior finishing and ambiance is very nice and perfect for something as casual as a hang out and nice enough for a date. Due to my dietary restrictions, we ate mostly cooked foods and ordered the karage, seaweed salad, creamy wasabi and tempura udon, and eel and sweet potato rolls. Out of all the dishes, the creamy wasabi and tempura udon was the best thing we had all summer. It was so indulgent and would be a repeat on my list when I come back. The staff are wonderful, the decor is great, and the food is delicious. I did the premium AYCE option and got a drink and everything came out super quickly! I tried the yellowtail, salmon and toro nigiri, pacific roll, chicken karaage, crispy rice and yuzu drink. All of the fish tasted incredible. Portions were a good size and I barely finished everything. So happy to see all of these options were GF (and may more to try). read more

Had the Simple All You Can Eat Option for $48pp. The sushi was good for the price point, I enjoyed the sashimi and nigiri, and enjoyed trying specialty roles like the In-N-Out burger style roll (it was better than expected). For $10 more you get access to more options, but I was satisfied with what we got for our price point. We arrived on a Friday night with no reservations and were seated within 10 minutes. The restaurant was fairly full, and it took them quite some time to get our food out. We waited 30 minutes after ordering before our first dishes arrived. The restaurant was slightly loud and the tables were a bit close to each other, but it was not too unpleasant. 4/5 overall, pleasant evening with a lot of food for a solid price. read more

I came to Sushi Sato after noticing it a few times while dining at other nearby establishments in the area. We had a 6pm reservation for a Saturday evening. Upon arrival I was greeted by the friendly host and asked to wait a few minutes until my friend came. They were quite busy even at 6pm. My friend had not arrived by 5 after but when I said she was parking he explained the all you can eat menu to me .. . I wasn't aware this was an option when I made the reservation and shared I would think about it. I was seated and was pleasantly surprised to learn they have happy hour from 4:30-6:29pm. Our server came when my friend was seated and she was attentive. She offered suggestions and we decided to try the lychee cocktails and a few appetizers from the happy hour menu. everything came out fast and the cocktails were great. We didn't do the all you can but instead tried a few rolls that our waitress recommended. A traditional tuna roll, a fried roll and salmon roll. Everything was , however I felt like we were being rushed. People kept stopping at our table asking if we were done. We didn't ask for the check, it was brought to us. We were only there for a little over an hour, we were considering another round but felt like we were being rushed because it was a Saturday night ... we had a reservation so I didn't particularly care for that. I would return to Sushi Sato in the future it's a great space and the service overall was great! read more
Snagged a reservation on a Wednesday night during their soft opening period and was very impressed! My group did the standard all you can eat. The quality and presentation of all of the dishes was way above what you would normally expect from an all you can eat experience. The food came out quickly and our server always made sure our drinks were full. Great price for the quality of sushi, nigiri, and sashimi. The grill items were also very yummy. I would highly recommend Sushi Sato for dinner (especially if you're hungry)! read more

We have been twice in the last month and both times enjoyed the food and would go back again. We tried everything off their happy hour menu and a few more things. Everything has been good if not great. The cucumber salad is the weakest and wasn't bad just not very flavorful. We would like to see them improve this because my family loves cucumber salads. The service was outstanding this evening. The first time they were understaffed but still had good service. We ate on the second floor (cool handmade wall paper) as well as the first floor. We enjoyed both settings as a family of four. read more

Idk why I always give in and soon as I see something on TIKTOK, I believe people. I'll never come back here..there a table by the door that seats 4 and literally the door draft will suck you out, it's so close to the table next you, you will almost bump there food off if you pass through. So I changed tables and all between seating, changing tables and waiting on water ! That was maybe 30 minutes and there was only like 5 people eating so the service time was like ridiculous. We got a new server and is attention to the table was disappointing I had to ask him to plates and constantly get his attention to order more food. We even just stoped and gave up on asking score more stuff like basic napkins since he like never looked over despite there being only one other person eating in the section with us. On to food we had a party of 3 and we did premium like 70 something per person, the portion sizes are so big you won't eat your worth but I for sure order allllll of the sashimi. Very good but that was it. Everything else was just meh. So ssashuimi get a star They do military discount so that's another stars. But my best friend was so mad about the 40 dollars gratuity lol. All in all I won't be coming back to this place the menus to small and the food options are not all that. To give someone 10 giant pieces of sushi is a cheat because my best friend got full on just 2 sushi orders lol, after just forcing food in isn't the best feeling. When asked if we could do less sushi server said no. . Yup ayce is the other one I went to I think that's what its names its menu is giant and it's better. 100% better. read more

I stopped by Sushi Sato on Sunday night and immediately recognized the building. While I loved dining at Bronze (and Smith Commons), Sushi Sato brings its own vibe and feels both fresh and open on the inside. After taking a seat at the bar, I decided on two Classic rolls - Sweet Potato and Spicy Salmon, Nigiri - Omelette and Truffled Tuna, and Edamame. Surprisingly, the Sweet Potato roll was my favorite. Everything was good, but I look forward to trying more (and going for the all-you-can-eat-option) after their official opening in August. read more
OHHHH MY GOSHHHH! I have a new fav sushi place and it's on H st!!! YAY!!! We were the first customers on the soft opening and I am SOOO impressed and so excited!!! The location is obviously amazing and the service was impeccable, but the foooood omgggggg, so creative (and not in a weird way... like actually sooo good). I will be dreaming about this sushi... the in and out roll is probably the most fun sushi roll I've ever had! The shrimp tempura is hands down the best I've ever had in my life (I would do no spicy mayo next time but that's just me). And fun drinks too! The yuzu crush was delicious! We will DEFINITELY be back! I'm SO EXCITED!!! read more

I love AYCE at Sushi Sato! They offer two tiers -- a standard ($55) and a premium ($75) option -- with the premium including highlighted dishes like Miso Black Cod, Steak, Beef Fat Garlic Fried Rice, and Blue Crab California Roll. In my opinion, the best restaurants are the ones like Sushi Sato with their amazing attention to detail from quality of ingredients to the plating, and staff that strive to make you feel at home and create a community vibe! read more
