Sushi thaime is an old neighborhood favorite. Parking can be challenging you either get lucky and find a spot on 95th St or you end up parking in the alley. There's a door in the front and in the back. The original space was small but they bought the space next door and it's pretty big now. There's a sushi bar on one side and an actual bar for drinking on the other side. Food is delicious and service is prompt. I always order sushi and whatever the newest special is and my bf always orders from the Chinese menu. The drinks are cheap and strong. On the weekends they sometimes have karaoke. I don't usually write bad reviews, but this place stood out. I guess because I was so disappointed. I was looking forward to some good sushi. This is one of the worst sushi places I've ever visited- because the sushi wasn't made well. The sushi was basically a rice ball. The sushi rolls were so dry (because of the rice and dry crunch) that It was hard to eat. It sucked the moisture out of your mouth. I couldn't eat the sushi, without coating one side in soysauce- just to make it wet enough to eat. It didn't help that the sushi was also super big. I couldn't eat the larger sushi (Spicy Hamachi roll & Soft Shell Crab rolls) in one bite. (Imagine filling your mouth with something super dry, and not having enough saliva to actually eat it.) All the sushi had a double layer of rice- around the inside and again on the outside- even around the Mexican roll. The sushi had so much rice, that you couldn't taste the fish. I usually have 3, sometime 4 rolls (if they are small). I was stuffed after the 2nd roll, because of the rice filler. This place offers Chinese and Thai food. Perhaps, that food is better. (I haven't tried it.) But, the restaurant should change the name to reflect the pan-asian offerings. Sushi is not their strong point. read more

The 3 sushi rolls we ordered were like 1 and a half, very small portions as seen in photos. Maybe I am expecting too much but 6 pieces for a California roll, 5 pieces of Mexican Roll and 8 pieces of Volcano roll seem a bit less than what I'm used too when it comes to rolls! Orange chicken entree was more like sweet and sour chicken that usually comes breaded with a dipping sauce. Not original orange chicken. The place was a bit busy but that's expected for Mother's Day. Updating my review, I've been back here and have ordered takeout several times a month here -- it's one of my guilty pleasures. It's quite frankly my favorite sushi restaurant here in Oak Lawn. I've tried their competitors, and the quality just doesn't compare. Sushi Thai Me has an open kitchen concept where you can see the sushi chefs build your rolls, they serve alcohol, and they have several TV screens where you can watch sports as well. My favorite rolls from here are the spicy tuna roll and the volcano roll, and these are literally my go to. We were here last night, and a couple that sat next to us was here for the first time and never had sushi before. They were so excited for our food, and we were just introducing them to our favorites and they ended up loving it. I highly recommend Sushi Thai Me to anyone in the area looking for some delicious sushi and pan Asian dishes. read more

Came here after trying to visit their sister Chinese restaurant, Sesame Inn, in Evergreen Park. They have closed that location and added their Chinese dishes to the menu here. We ordered the orange chicken and sesame chicken and were happy that they were both as delicious as in early 2020 when we ate at Sesame Inn. They are breaded and fried perfectly and there's ample sauce covering each piece. I didn't care for the undercooked broccoli included with each dish, however. Too hard. Husband enjoys their vegetable eggrolls as well (I personally find them too dry). We would definitely order from them again anytime we're in the area. I came here over the weekend and what a fabulous spot tucked away in Oak Lawn. The maki, and nigiri were excellent! The service was amazing and my husband and I really loved the ambiance as a whole for our date night. We came here years ago when we dated and it was a much smaller restaurant. Since then, the restaurant has expanded and looks great! Food and cocktails make for the perfect date! *MOUSE DROPPINGS IN FOOD* If I could give no stars, I would. To start the manager/owner Betty is absolutely so nasty. She's extremely rude. I ordered delivery and we paid with a credit card. The order came over an hour later and without a receipt to sign, the only one in the bag was a basic customer receipt with no items listed for a little over $69 dollars. When I opened the bag, one of the items was missing and the sauce for my tofu had spilled all over the bag. I called to complain about the missing item as well as ask about the receipt since we didn't even sign for it. The girl that answered basically said it was fine without the signature and that they would put a credit for the coke. We decided to let it go, cleaned up the mess and then opened the food. As we were eating the food, not only were the noodles burnt and the pepsi completely flat. I noticed something dark in my tofu breading.. as I peeled the tofu breading from the "Fried Tofu" a mouse dropping rolled out onto the tofu. I was horrified, I immediately told the rest of my family to stop eating it and my family couldn't believe it. One of them examined it hoping it was a burned piece of rice, but it wasn't. There was another piece of tofu with another dark piece in it as well but this looked smeared on the breading. We called the restaurant back and I asked the girl to speak to a manager. She said I could talk to the owner, Betty. Now I had previous encounters with Betty in the past while eating at the restaurant and she was very rude then, is extremely rude to minorities. In addition, I had seen her asking white underage kids/teen customers if they needed or wanted jobs which I thought was very odd. She was offering to hire them right away and pay them under the table while there were other customers at the restaurant. However, I had really hoped she would have a better attitude and or handle this situation differently considering the circumstances. I was wrong. When I told her what was wrong and then what I found in the food her reply was well, what do you want me to do about it? I told her that one, I wanted a complete refund and that I wanted her to clean and inspect the kitchen. She said, "do you want more food? Is that it?" I was so upset and told her that she could come pick up the food and see what was in it for herself. She then said, "so what do you want huh? what do you want me to do about it?" I stated that I wanted a full refund and she said that she would completely void the ticket. I then asked her if she was going to have someone pick the food up or what she wanted me to do with it and she said, "do whatever you want with it!" I told her I was going to report her to the health department and told her where the dropping was so she could clean her kitchen and do something about it but I highly doubt it. They should be shut down immediately. This place is so disgusting from the mouse droppings to Betty's attitude, I've been sick to my stomach ever since. I wouldn't call the food bad, the flavor was almost there, but everything was missing vegetables, depth of flavor, and presentation. The udon beef had beef that looked super questionable- in turmeric seasoning (trying for Thai?) but the only other thing it had was egg like in egg drop soup, not like udon is supposed to have like a boiled egg cut in half. It had only onions, no cabbage or broccoli or even carrots. The noodles were fine, as was the broth, though that was muddy and could definitely use some work. The Thai basil chicken was ok, but dry and without heat (though we requested really really hot. The sushi roll was good, but the avocado had brown spots that I could see- made me question the freshness of everything else in the roll- something you don't want to do with raw seafood O, and don't order the Viet Spring roll- all rice noodle, no cilantro or veg. The food was again very simple, no streamers falling down, no whistles when the food came out and the taste was at best "bland". This evening we took my parents to celebrate their birthdays. The food was delicious and the service was great. The server was very friendly and attentive the entire time. There was disagreement with the owners and this was the breaking point for this employees. As a supervisor you should treat your employees with respect. The employee left and there were other customers that felt the same. The owners should have been more professional and spoken to her in private.
