I stumbled upon Sushi Time as I was looking for a quick dinner before watching the premiere of Joy Ride at the Castro Theatre for CAAMFEST 2023. This intimate restaurant had a couple of other solo diners as well but service was very quick. They had a couple of takeout orders as well. The spider roll and speed racer roll were excellent but the walu nigiri and maguro zuke nigiri stood out. I wish they were offered at more places. I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area.

Done pick up a few times. First time dinning in. This small restaurant had a sushi bar and a few tables. Intimate atmosphere and has been in the neighborhood for over 20 years. I ordered: Hamachi Toro. Sake Toro and spicy scallop roll. The fish were all very fresh. Rice was just a tad hard. But for the price good value. Lots of ppl calling in to order takeout so be prepared for a slight wait. Waiter was very attentive. This small place is very cute but has no windows.

Celebrated the end of travel projects with my company at this restaurant. The owner was there and took our orders. He was very sweet! It was about an hour until closing time. I ordered way too much like always because I love getting a big assortment of nigiri. All the fish was tasty and fresh. I loved the mackerel especially. However, I was a little disappointed the uni I ordered wasn't so tasty. Maybe it was a little old? It had a sort of sharp flavor like it was not fresh. Uni is more expensive so I was sad to be served uni that wasn't at its best. Otherwise, we had a great time! I love the indoor decor too. Very fun and festive.

DEVOURED sushi was so good and the staff is so so nice, love the vibe as well. vivian and karen are very sweet. good vegetarian options and very close to ucr if ur a ucr student.

What a great hole in the wall (literally) spot for sushi! Was craving sushi and found this spot on a whim since it was nearby. Tucked away within a mall, this spot is easy to miss, but is well worth it! The food was amazing and service impeccable. Highly recommend the Barbie roll and salmon belly nigiri. Space is a bit tight inside but it adds to the experience! Definitely give it a shot if you're in the area and are seeking sushi

What a hidden gem. I wouldn't have noticed Sushi Time on my own from the street, but I came here with a friend per word-of-mouth. Tucked into a small plaza between Market and 16th, the restaurant is a small but cozy spot with a sushi bar and a few tables. At the door, our vaccination cards were checked and then we were immediately seated. The host was very attentive, checking in on us periodically. We both ordered the chirashi don, which came with miso soup and a small green salad. The fish was fresh, and I loved that it had some unagi as well. I'd love to come here again - I want to try the sushi rolls next time!

This place is so cute, it reminds me of many sushi or noodle restaurants I saw in Japan in little obscure spots. You probably wouldn't stumble upon it yourself unless someone told you about it because it's located in the basement of a mini shopping complex or through an alleyway if entering on 16th street. The restaurant is very small, maybe 4-7 tables depending on if you put them together and about 10 seats at the bar. I'd recommend getting here early to avoid a wait. The menu is basic and there aren't a lot of vegetarian options but they do have a few different types of Miso soup. I liked the Kenchia miso soup which has many different vegetables so it fills you up and is heartier than basic miso soup.

Amazing sushi spot in the Castro! **This review this for takeout! Definitely coming back to dine in when things reopen! OVERALL: 9/10 FOOD: 9/10 They have a great selection of sushi. Amazing variety! Fresh and insanely delicious sushi. I'd recommend their Gi Joe Roll, Barbie Roll, and Mango Roll! Love the way they name their rolls haha!! Explore their rolls, they are really special and you can't find some of them anywhere else! PRICE: 10/10 Great prices!! Seriously! Their prices are very affordable for the quality sushi they offer. We spend about $80 for 4 people here. It's hard to find another place to beat them! CUSTOMER SERVICE: 9/10 Amazing customer service! We called to order 30 mins they close and they were happy to take our orders. They have 2 entrances to the restaurant and the staff kept both of them open just in case we couldn't find our way in. A very sweet Asian man took my order. I can see his smile under his mask when I picked up. LOCATION: 8/10 They located inside a little shopping plaza/ mall in the Castro on market. It's a little hard to find but they do have 2 entrances (one on market and the other one on 16th). Parking is hard not gonna lie but there are street parking on 16th and meters on market. Recommend getting there a little earlier to find parking if you're already starving and craving some damn sushi.

They just reopened this week for take outs only! I got my favorite rolls and nigiri with nigori sake to celebrate my friend's birthday at Duboce park! It was so nice to see Masa at Sushi Time again!

What we ordered: + San Ten Mori (assorted sashimi) [4/5]: The highlight of our meal was the yuzu wasabi that came with the salmon + amberjack in this set. It was sooo delicious and spicy. The fish were plated beautifully, and the quality was pretty good. + Shungiku Kama Sarada (chrysanthemum greens & duck breast) [6/5 - would recommend]: WOW. I was so pleasantly surprised by how fresh, crunchy, and acidic this salad was. The greens are amazing. On top of that, the duck breast was so tender and delicious-- I just wish the dish came with a few more slices. + Chicken Oyster [4/5]: I really loved how juicy this was. I normally don't like chicken because of how dry it is, but this was a great skewer. I wish the skin was a little less burnt. The chicken was also so thick that while the outside was juicy, the inside was a little drier. + King Trumpet [4/5]: Wow! These looked amazing when they arrived. I thought the flavor was great but the texture was a bit rubbery. + Kama Tama Udon (carbonara) [4.5/5]: Delicious! I couldn't stop eating this udon slathered in amazing thick sauce. + Chiizu Tori Katsu [4/5]: This was sooo good. I wish the cheese ratio was 3x as much, but the flavor and tenderness of the katsu is delicious. Huge props to Rintaro; my Resy reservation was initially cancelled due to an accident in booking, but the staff was so friendly and went above & beyond to help me get my reservation reinstated at a similar time.

The smells are incredible from smokey fish as they sear the final touches with a blow torch, to the sizzling goodness from the yakitori grill. It's such a fun place, and the freshness (especially the fish flown in from Japan) is unbelievable. The service was pretty good. Our waiter was a bit forgetful, but it could be because he had a packed bar of guests. We had an incredible experience, and will be back again!

The place fills up around 6pm so arriving ahead of that will save you a wait. They don't take reservations, so first come first served. The ordering experience is really smooth. Everything is done through an iPad at your table and the food comes out to you. They won't let you place a new order until your previous one has been delivered, which honestly is a smart system and helps with pacing so you don't over order right out of the gate. What sets this place apart from other AYCE spots is the variety. It's not just sushi. You can also order appetizers, salmon, teriyaki chicken and more, so there's something for people who want to mix it up beyond rolls. Delicious, easy, affordable and in the neighborhood. Highly recommend!

The…read moreinterior has a traditional Japanese restaurant feel with both à la carte and all-you-can-eat options. We opted for the AYCE menu, which came out to around $50 per person. - Sashimi -- pieces were on the smaller side and a little watery - Sashimi Salad -- fresh spring greens topped with larger sashimi cuts; a refreshing starter - Gyoza -- larger than typical gyoza, almost like mandu; crispy exterior with juicy filling - Poke Chip -- avocado could've been fresher, but still a nice crisp and creamy combo - Lion King Roll -- my favorite item of the night; seared salmon, avocado, and imitation crab. Wish it had a bit more torching and cheese, but still delicious - Rainbow Roll -- smaller-sized roll topped with salmon, tuna, shrimp, and avocado - Dragon Roll -- classic unagi and avocado combo; can't go wrong here - Double Salmon Roll -- salmon both inside and on top with a light lemon garnish - Heaven Roll -- tuna-heavy roll inside and out; great for tuna lovers - Bay Bridge Roll -- another standout; tuna and avocado topped with roe and white sauce - Miso Soup -- simple and comforting - Salmon Avocado Roll -- classic fresh combo with cucumber added for crunch - Nigiri (seared salmon, unagi, baby scallop, salmon avocado) -- probably the best quality items overall; loved the fatty scallop and seared salmon - Mixed Greens Salad -- underrated side with a sesame-ranch style dressing - Yammy Yammy Roll -- spicy tuna and seared tuna topped with spicy mayo and unagi sauce - Hamachi Kama -- thinner cut than expected but still buttery and tender There was no wait on a Friday night and our party was seated immediately. The restaurant has tables in both the front dining area and a quieter back section that feels more private. You order through a tablet attached to the table, which also tracks your remaining AYCE time. Service was extremely efficient and dishes came out surprisingly fast. Some items stood out more than others, but overall we definitely got our money's worth. For around $50 including tax and tip, it's a pretty reasonable AYCE sushi option in SF.

Immediately, the ambiance and service was quite nice. We were seated at the table, but typically I enjoy sitting at the bar to watch the chefs make our food. The service was amazing and they were very attentive. They also offered to take photos and gave us a little gift of hojicha tea since we were celebrating. We got the omakase, which was massive and had 18 courses. They gave us a menu so we knew what to expect for each course, and we ordered some sake. The omakase was delicious and more traditional than other places, each course was so beautiful and delicately made. This is definitely a lot of food, I would recommend the petite omakase in the future as I was stuffed, but it was a great experience if you come hungry! Courses: - Chawan-mushi - super tasty and every bite was delicious and umami forward! - Otsumami - 7 seasonal appetizers presented in a beautiful box, there was a stuffed crab claw in there that was delicious - 4 kinds of sushi - each piece came out one at a time, the first piece was my absolute favorite and blew me away, it was a seared chutoro that immediately melts in your mouth and tastes smokey - Hamachi soup - very tasty and warming soup with hamachi inside, was perfect in between the sushi course - 4 kinds of sushi - A5 Waguyu shabu - this course was extra $10 pp but was so delicious, the wagyu was melt in your mouth and had some grated daikon on top in a ponzu dashi, the toppings help balance the meat so it's overwhelming since it does melt in your mouth, one of my favorite bites! - 4 kind of sushi - they brought out some really great sushis, including more chutoro and an unagi handroll, but I was so stuffed at this point that I felt I couldn't enjoy it as much - miso soup - this soup was so tasty and kind of revived me after all that food, it felt comforting and a great way to end - dessert- I got the hojicha ice cream in a waffle like cookie and it was delicious!

The Shoji Burger is what hubs came for. Fork and knife definitely need to eat this. Pillowy soft bread, melty cheese, and the pickles all made for a tasty burger. Hubs would return for this alone.
