    Spicy Salmon Roll

Great happy hour food and drink options, extremely friendly service, quaint ambiance, and lots of food options overall. I got a spicy salmon maki and tempura udon which were both delicious! Can't wait to go back.

Come here for happy hour rolls! I believe that serve until 6:30pm on week days. Discounted rolls are $7 and the menu isn't limited to rolls you can order tempura, hand rolls and tofu! Our table decided to order some rolls and a sashimi platter to share family style. The rolls have the golden ratio of filling to rice, the filling is packed and the rice isn't overwhelming. We found the sashimi to come in thick slices and enjoyed the chefs selection. We especially loved the tempura, it was light and crispy and came with a good selection of vegetables, eggplant, kabucha squash, and carrot to name a few. We would probably skip the agadashi tofu as it wasn't as crispy was we would have wanted but still a solid dish!

The party tray is very good! It's a great deal for what you get and can feed 3 very hungry people. It is not super high quality, but overall I will be back to order the party tray when I'm craving local sushi!!

You might not think of South San Francisco for sushi or omakase. However, trust me when I say this it is a must and if you are lucky enough to have Helen be your server, let her take you on a journey. We have been several times for sushi and recently stopped by for omakase and let's just say it was truly superb bites, amazing dining experience and memorable. Chef Cheuk is a true artist that focuses on technique, flavor and color and his passion and enthusiasm shines through every bite. Helen is equally as passionate in describing each dish and offering the perfect pairing. You must check this place out, like today.

Teriyaki salmon was great, and the teriyaki chicken was pretty good though could've been toasted a bit longer with more sauce. California rolls were great, exactly what you'd expect/want. Tempura was amazing and we were given a lot on each of the dinner combos. Miso soup and side salads were good and fitting. Spicy BBQ pork was flavorful, though not very spicy (which isn't a big deal). Only small complaint was the over abundance of onion included with the spicy BBQ pork, but overall not a problem. Would definitely recommend this place to others!

The menu is pretty extensive, we noticed a lot of the rolls have cream cheese in them so if that's your thing, come by. Overall, the food was solid, but nothing special. Turned out to be about $50 for 2 rolls and an order of gyoza. Service was quick since we were the only ones in there, but we had to get their attention. For the price and quality, and service I think I'd rather go elsewhere. But if you're looking for sushi with quick service in the area, this place is still solid.

Well, I was completely wrong! This place is such a hidden gem that I almost didn't want to leave a review because I wanted to keep it all to myself! My friend and I recently visited, and from the moment we arrived, we were impressed. It's located in a small shopping center with plenty of parking, which is always a plus. The restaurant itself is adorable, clean, and inviting. We sat in the cute Japanese-style seating area (which the padding on these seats are a bit thin so just to be aware of), but they also offer traditional tables, a sushi bar, and what appeared to be a semi-outdoor patio with heat lamps. We're both kinda sushi snobs, and the sushi here was fresh, high-quality, and beautifully prepared. The service was friendly, efficient, and very fast. I had been meaning to come here for a while, but never had the chance so I was pretty excited to try the place out. The place is cozy, there are tables on one side and a sorta of deeper table on the other where you sort of sit into the seat, a bit different than sitting at a table, but adds to a more intimate experience. I had a quick beer before my friend showed up, and it was indeed refreshing. I looked over the menu and instantly saw the treasure box, which I've seen on the Yelp page, and we both ordered that. We didn't ask for the item menus, as my friend had been here multiple times and just told me to dig in. I started with the monk fish liver, and wow oh wow, I'm not a fan of liver at all, but the way they cooked this was fab-u-lous! The steamed egg following it was refreshing, and then just eating each piece of sashimi and sushi was amazing. Every item tasted super fresh and had the right amount of flavor, so I didn't need to add anything extra. It was an amazing experience, and for the price point, I will definitely be coming back!

Shoutout to the lady who worked all of front-of-house, she is a boss. She was our hostess, server, ran food, and bused tables. All the while, checking in on us often and letting us know when things were on the way so we didn't feel forgotten. Food is all small plate shareables. Our one entree was the pork cheek fried rice. Maybe it was just what we ordered but I felt like everything was really oily/greasy. The freshest items were the negitoro roll and the potato salad they gave to us at the start for free. Yes, it's an izakaya, but we found ourselves struggling to continue eating the plates since it felt so heavy. Sure, maybe we didn't order the right stuff, but lots of the menu items are deep fried, stir-fried, or grilled also. We enjoyed the cumin lamb skewers and the negitoro the best! We were disappointed in the truffle poppers as each bite was more filled with fried breading than mushrooms. The dessert was beautiful and we did enjoy that. We ended up paying like 100pp including tax and tip. There are many Japanese izakayas I can pay less for in San Francisco including a la carte at Rintaro! But anyways, shoutout to the hostess lady, she's a boss.

Everything about the ordering process and the quality of the food itself was good but not great. There was no wow factor or anything that left me feeling extra motivated to return, but I also wouldn't be opposed if I were nearby and craving onigiri. There's a single kiosk in-store to order at, but you can also place an order with the person working the counter if it's not too busy. I wasn't sure what I wanted immediately, so I waited for one of my friends to finish before ordering. I added 1 unagi eel, 1 unagi onigiri, and 1 crab onigiri to my basket and checked out. I have absolutely no idea what's the difference between "unagi eel" and "unagi onigiri", and when I went to pick up my order, the staff member told me my order was two unagi and one crab. However, I was charged $4.50 for the unagi eel and $4.30 for the unagi onigiri, so go figure. I could not detect a difference between the two, and the price of each averaged out to $4.40, so it's whatever. I unwrapped one of the unagi onigiris to eat in-store as we waited for a Zoox to arrive. It was actually pretty difficult to extricate the seaweed and rice ball filling in one piece to consume together, which I presume is because the onigiris are each made-to-order and due to the freshness, the separate ingredients haven't had a chance to marinate and congeal together. As I had not eaten all day, I quickly devoured the onigiris before and after our short ride back to a café where some of our other friends were waiting. The onigiris were, as I mentioned before, pretty standard minus the fact they kind of fell apart. I would say if you like onigiris, then these will get the job done, but they're nothing exceptional, so keep your standards at baseline.
