We go to Sushi Ya regularly as a team for lunch at work. I think the price point is probably worth it for what you get, if you eat 2-3 rolls worth of food anyway. They give you a paper, and you indicate how many of each roll you want. You are supposed to finish what you order to avoid an extra charge. We always succeed. They bring the food out pretty quickly and point out what each roll is, which is helpful. We typically get there around noon, and it's never an issue to seat our big group, and it has never filled up when we've been in there. You pay at the counter on your way out. The Godzilla roll was a highlight, and their hand rolls were solid, albeit with a bit too much rice for our liking. At first, I was a little intimidated by the "all you can eat" advertising. I don't usually put away enough food to make those sorts of deals worth it. But then I confirmed that you can also order and pay by the roll, so no need to gorge myself. Phew. I enjoyed a few rolls between me and my dining partner. We found them to be flavorful and fresh, although nothing outstanding or knock-your-socks off. The price was fair, but I do think that if you're the type of person that will order many rolls, the AYCE pricing may be better than al a cart. read more

Locations: The inside it like most sushi restraints. It is not a super fancy spot a good spot to go for AYCE with a bunch of friends. The staff is super nice and the service is pretty fast (although I went a little later at night and there wasn't much of a crowd at that time). This place looks as it can accommodate al rage party as well. Food: The fish seemed kind of fresh but not super fresh high quality fish at least in my opinion. But all the roles were pretty good. Some of the roles a little bit funky like the Hurricane had wired sweat sauce on it or the one that had a strange Smokey taste kind almost like it came off a bbq. But for the most part not too bad and super filling. Spicy crunch and the CK special pretty good. Miso soup also a must and it is included in the all you can eat. I had some of the nigiri and the fish to rice ratio was pretty good and it seemed pretty fresh. Honestly the main reason I am giving it a 3 star rating is mostly because the price keeps increasing and for over $30 I can get pretty good quality roles that will fill me up just as much as AYCE. Me and a couple friends decided to come here on a whim after a wedding. The wait was not long and they pumped these rolls out fast. If you're not doing AYCE, what are you doing?! My personal favorite was the Jason Hand Roll and the salmon nigiri. It was delicious. They also had a delicious scallop nigiri as well. I want to bring all my friends here because I had such a great experience! If you order too much, you are able to pay a fee to take it to-go. If I remember correctly, I think I paid less than $35 dollars for tip and the AYCE fee. I love that the location is close to me and close to work! I will definitely be back! read more

Oh SushiYa how you love to disappoint me. I'll make this review short n sweet. This place exists for the all you can eat crowd and with the prices of the all you can eat option continually rising, it's becoming less n less of an appealing option. I didn't pick the place and went coz a friend suggested it and we went during dinner hours so all-you-can-eat ends up being over $30 a person after taxes. Sadly just not worth it given the quality in my opinion. Most adults can barely eat 3 rolls so it's about $10 a roll and you just leave feeling disappointed. First thing's first, don't let the "all you can eat" deter you, this isn't a gross buffet like golden corral or something. Everything is made to order. To that point, no it's not the finest sushi you will find in the valley, but it's pretty great for the price. I eat-in here and pickup for lunch regularly as I work just around the corner. It costs me like 20$ to get a sushi roll, side of rice, bowl of miso soup, and a hand roll, plus tip. They ALWAYS give me chop-sticks too, which is a plus for me. The staff is friendly, the service is good, the prices are on point, and I have no problem telling people to give this place a shot. I'll be going back regularly, with a smile on my face. read more

We went in for an early dinner on a Friday. The place was dead. We were the only table for a while. The restaurant clean and neat. We sat at the bar and got the all you can eat dinner option. The service was quick, attentive, and friendly. We ordered the Rocky Mountain, the Orange Julius, the Las Vegas, the playboy, the volcano and tons of Nigiri. The Rocky Mountain roll was so good we ordered it twice. The Orange Julius was not at all exciting. The sauce was underwhelming and the ratio of fish to rice/other ingredients was not quite right (surprisingly it was too much fish.) I would not order it again. The Las Vegas was perfectly creamy and crispy. The playboy was just "OK." The Volcano was wonderful. It was warm, crispy and creamy with a little kick. We had 3 or 4 orders of salmon Nigiri, it was so tender and delicious. There is definitely better sushi places in Salt Lake County but not for these prices. I going to start this review by pointing out I've spent over ten years living in Japan and enjoying their food. This place did not live up to that standard. Here's how it went. The Good: - the place was clean and they took all the normal precautions for COVID-19. - you order by marking a paper with your choices so getting the order wrong is very unlikely - the food came reasonably fast though perhaps on the slow side - all you can eat options and if you order three things then it is worth the price - the total flavor score is just okay - lots of variety for those with different tastes The Not So Good: - sushi rice had very little flavor, I could not taste the normal slightly sweet with vinegar that defines sushi rice. It seemed to me to just be sticky rice - the sashimi yellowtail was room temperature and slightly turned (smell and flavor) - room temperature fish......no - imitation crab.....never a great sign - don't get the spicy tuna....fishy - lacking in cream cheese options - they bring back your original order paper so you can order again, but now it is covered in sauce, you've touched it, the server has touched it, the chef has touched it, and it is about to go back to the chef again....tell me how is that clean? Bottom Line: though there are some good things about this place, it fails in basic essentials. Sushi should be flavorful with the natural flavors of the fish, not by the sauces. The rice needs to be sushi rice not just sticky rice. And the fish itself must be fresh. Will NOT come back here. read more

I had the AYCE eat sushi for lunch because I needed to drop off my car nearby to have some work done on it. I prefer quality over price, but this place isn't bad! I didn't order any of the rolls because I was afraid that they'd be loaded with rice. I thought that about the nigiri too, but to my surprised, the portions of rice to fish were pretty good. The fish tasted pretty fresh to me, but they had a couple of them that they doused sauce on so I couldn't really taste it. I didn't much care for the rice either, it had a bit too much of that rice vinegar stuff on it, made it too sour. But all-in-all, it's a good deal for the price! For 16 bucks, I got 16 pieces of nigiri! They were also pretty quick about getting my orders out to me, so I can't complain. read more

This is by far the best Sushi Ya location in Utah!! Hands down, I've tried them all and the others don't even come close. The quality, freshness, and ratios of this place are amazing! All you can eat RICE. I've never had nigiri with this much rice and such thinly sliced fish. The rice under the fish is massive. I think the sushi chef must have huge hands. Anyway, they're clearly trying to fill you up on rice. The rolls are okay and not wrapped with a massive amount of rice. This is the only thing getting me from a 2 to a 3 on this place. Too much rice, sushi was too thin and you had to really look to see if it was even in the roll. I liked the fried roll but that was it.
