They have fallen into the trap of "let's offer a variety of things to appeal to everyone" which naturally turns into, not doing anything well because the kitchen staff is trying to do too many things. They have everything from nachos, Enchiladas, fish & chips, steaks, pasta, flatbread, fish, salads and a mish-mash of appetizers. I ordered the "blackened salmon". It was. It blackened but lightly seasoned and pan fried and literally downing in butter. The mashed potato it came with were not creamed potatoes but had so much butter, that much can't be eaten as all the butter in the dish is so overwhelming. Other At my table got prime rib and pastas. They don't really say much about them after they got them, which isn't a great sign. The ambiance was probably nice at one point, but the place really needs a remodel. My advice is to narrow down the menu so the kitchen can focus on doing a fixed number of items really well. Then maybe have a rotating weekly or monthly special if you want to keep the menu fresh. Too many things means nothing is done well. If they update the menu in this way I would try them again, otherwise I have no reason to return based on this experience. read more

We had a large party here a few weeks ago and had such a fabulous experience! We made a reservation ahead of time, and the day of they were graciously able to accommodate us coming slightly earlier. One of the seasonal cocktails was a vodka lemon basil spritz situation and it was delicious. The goat cheese salad is AMAZING. It comes with large chunks of fried goat cheese, and it's just an overall delicious salad. Highly recommend! I also got a side of fries and they were wonderful as well. REVIEW: I will call this a one-off visit, and when I am next in Utah, I will give them another try. Rounding up to 4 stars for the hustle from our server. We were a party of 3 and ordered a variety of good dishes. Unfortunately, my guest had a hard time with their Ghost of Monte Cristo and had to send it back. They then ordered a burger. But the process from needing to send back the Monte Cristo to getting the replacement meal was unbelievably painful, and IMO it didn't need to be. I am not sure if our server was getting flak from someone in the kitchen, but I would have preferred the exchange to have been much smoother. My guest was made to feel as if she was inconveniencing the server/staff for not being able to eat the Monte Cristo (it was over-cooked and appeared to have been made in fried chicken batter that was hard and crunchy). Their Cliff Tacos were great; served hot and without issue. They were very good. My other guest had the Eggs Benedict and said it was very tasty and well-made. In conclusion, service made up for the bumpy interchange with the Monte Cristo; our server was sincere, and it showed. As we visited at lunch time, I can't wait to try again during dinner. Started with a Tito's -- always a safe bet, right? Wrong. The limes were so old I think they remembered Y2K. Pretty sure one of them sighed when it hit the glass. Moved on to the Brussels sprouts, which were apparently just raw cabbage cubes with commitment issues. No flavor, no crisp, just vibes. Ordered fish and chips. The lemon? A dehydrated relic from a forgotten era. I squeezed it and nothing happened. I think it gave up before I did. The salad was the final twist. Not only did it come with the wrong dressing (fun), but it also featured the lettuce stump. Like, the actual core. Is this a hidden message? Was this a test? Should I have made a wish? Anyway, service was fine, and we had a laugh -- so two stars. But next time, I might just go home and aggressively microwave a frozen dinner. At least that has consistent seasoning. read more

I've been wanting to check this place out for a while so I was excited to go! I like that they have a pub side (21+) and a dining side for family. We sat on the pub side and it had a pretty view of the valley. The server was nice, but I think they may have been busy with a party, we had to wait for water refills and quite a while to get the check. We ordered the crab Rangoon and Brussels sprouts to start. Definitely recommend the Brussels, they were delicious and the crab Rangoon had an appropriate amount of filling and paired well with the sauce. For the main dishes we ordered Monterrey stuffed chicken and the prime rib. The sauce with the chicken and potatoes was absolutely delicious but it is a smaller dish so I do wish the portion was a little bigger. The prime rib was good with the au jus and the garlic potatoes it comes with were phenomenal but just trapped under the giant prime rib. We love this place. First visit was last week. We had to go back within a week. I had no idea of this nice place was just close to my house. Great design I usually go closer to The Salt Lake and not South. The ambience was beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. The view was beautiful. I have been told they have a great brunch Saturday and Sunday. We had a new appetizer that we're finding in restaurants, sushi nachos. Delicious. We had sushi the first night. It was great. My girlfriend liked the margaritas and I had a Heineken Zero for the first time. A great nonalcoholic beer. Christian was our server and a very helpful and friendly. The second time was Ashlee and the same. We had the coconut shrimp appetizer, and the skillet crabcakes. Both were superb. It was nice to run into Raul who's worked in another restaurant that we visit. The restaurant is divided in two areas a large dining area and a bar area where alcohol is served.. I've been wanting to come here for a while. And finally a group of us went! There wasn't a wait but the restaurant was fairly busy. We ordered a handful of appetizers, a few rounds of cocktails, and then dinner. The appetizers were tasty: the chicken nacho, brussel sprouts, calamari, and spinach dip. I thought the chicken nachos was a huge portion and tasty, while the other appetizers seemed good but nothing memorable. For cocktails, we went through a few rounds but my favorite was the Flight of Fancy. That one I'll come back for for sure! For entrees, there were several ordered at the table: the steak Mac & cheese, prime rib, halibut, burger, and a few flatbread. I got the halibut and while the fish seemed dry, the sauce was delicious and the sides (broccolini) was tasty. I tried some of the prime rib and mashed potatoes, which seemed a bit bland. We ended the night with the butter cake, which stood out to me. I don't think I've ever had that before nor would I have picked it if I hadn't read other reviews on it. I would definitely come back for the one cocktail and the dessert! The parking was easy and the patio was beautiful. I'd like to start by telling you that the Sushi Nachos were a 15 out of 10 for me, and I would go back for those alone. That said, this is a great spot with an excellent view for the sun setting over the mountains. The menu is fairly big, with plenty of options for all palates, and a kids menu! The service was great, and I know my dad and brother frequent the bar in this spot and always get excellent service with staff who remember them and know "the usual" order. We started with the sushi nachos and calamari, which were both a hit. Two of us ordered the Miso Halibut, and that Shoyu Cream Sauce was everything to top that dish off. The kids menu includes options of Salmon, Pasta, Cheeseburger/Hamburger, Grilled Cheese, or Chicken tenders. You also get to pick a side, a drink, and vanilla or chocolate ice cream for the side. At $13 it's slightly more expensive than some kids meals, but for the amount of food (all of which our 3 year old loved) I'd say it was worth it! read more

I'll say this: the service was really good. We were a large party, at least 10 of us. Our server was genuine, and service was quick. As for the food, we really liked the sushi nachos. Those stole the show for the whole table. My husband got the beef stroganoff, which I never would order on my own, but the bites I had were really tasty. My food, unfortunately, was not good. I had the lemon chicken pasta, along with another family member at the table. My chicken was dry and overcooked. The sauce had no flavor whatsoever. I try not to be too bratty about my food. I had a few others try it, and every one of them made a face and said my entree was genuinely, "Not good at all." I was not going to say anything, but my sister-in-law mentioned it to the server. We didn't end up getting charged for those two identical plates. She also offered to replace my food, but I didn't take her up on it. I liked the environment of the restaurant. We were probably the loudest bunch in there, but thankfully they weren't too busy early on a Saturday evening. I don't know that I'd come back just because the prices didn't align with the taste and quality for me. But if we do come back, I'll be getting the sushi nachos. read more

Had a really solid meal at Cliff Dining Pub! Decided to check this place out on a whim and I'm glad we did. We were seated promptly and put in our drink order. I tried the cliff margarita, it was very good. Not overwhelmingly sweet. We decided to forego appetizers (although there were several options that sounded worth trying) and went straight for the mains. My partner tried the prime rib, I went with the filet and we both got to try the mashed potatoes and carrots. The filet was cooked just right and was very good, my partner also said the prime rib was near perfect. The sides were solid as well. Finally, we decided to split two desserts - the cheesecake and chocolate lava cake. Both were good and worth getting if you want something sweet after your meal. Our server was excellent, attentive and friendly. Overall we had a nice meal and I would definitely return to try out some of the other menu offerings! We came in Thursday April 10th and we came in at 3:55, our server (Scott) was already pissed because we came in 5 minutes before opening time and we weren't expected to be served right away. We sat close to the outdoor seating but indoors and it was a bit warm but not unenjoyable, the drinks probably didn't help but such a beautiful dinning room. They have a bar area as well and I think next time we will try that area. The parking is a whole Nother story, it isn't great to put it lightly. I had a 6 pm reservation but over the hour we were in the restaurant all the parking spots were taken and there were some jeep owners that chose to park on the side walk. So get an early reservation!
