Drove by this place a few times and finally decided to come in for dinner. I was excited for the all you can eat for $20 that included all their specialty rolls. I tried 3 rolls for the first round and glad I did because these rolls are huge. I'm used to eating a piece in one bite but some of these required two to three bites before they fit in my mouth. The deals: $14.99 lunch pick sushi options from categories A & B (long/hand rolls & nigiri). $19.99 dinner pick sushi options from categories A & B & C (long/hand rolls & nigiri & signature rolls). Pricing based on memory. The rules (paraphrased) Eat all your rice! Only order 3 rolls at a time. You can take left overs home without a box charge. I wish I knew this before I forced myself to eat ALL the sushi I ordered. Appetizers are a la carte. We went there post graduation. Thanks to Utah rush hour we arrived 20 minutes apart. Since we were 1st we got our drinks and ordered chicken strips for the 3 year old stuck in traffic. I loved their ordering process. Each sushi AYCE sushi eater got their own form. Hint: if you go with a group write your name on the top of your form. Large plates with each individual order came out in the order in which they were prepared and the form was returned to that person for the next round. Yeah there was some confusion with our order but they worked it out. We each only made it through one round and got to go boxes. The sushi itself was good. HUGE rolls and large nigiri. Fresh fish. Category C had the more creative roll. Lots of cooked fish and deep fried options. This location is significantly better than the one off State Street in Orem, I'll say that right off the bat. We generally avoid raw fish at Sushi Ya (it's not particularly fresh nor of good quality, resulting in the dishonest flavors imaginable), but the tempura veggie roll, tornado, cali, and upside down shrimp are all pretty tasty. I was particularly impressed with how crisp the tempura veggies were inside the roll, and the upside down shrimp had a nice kick to it with the addition of a creamy sriracha sauce. Price wise, Sushi Ya is really cheap (again, why we don't ever order raw fish sushi from them). The all you can eat lunch is only $14.95/person, and the individual rolls average about $5-$6 apiece. This has been my trip of sushi joints. I tried this AYCE that for lunch is priced well. You are only able to get certain rolls on the lunch menu but it's still a wide variety. If you're a good customer and treat them nice the service is excellent they now us by name and take the time to know you're unique preferences with food. So the range of the sushi here is 2.5- 3 stars. It's true that you cant expect exceptional sushi when you go to most ayce places and sushi ya fits that stereo type. Why the 2.5 and not the complete 3 stars? Like I said before, the sushi is all around mediocre. My biggest gripe about this place is their rice. If you like nigiri, don't get it here. Their rice to fish ratio is about 2:1. They really use the rice as a filler here. As far as the rice itself, it wasn't that great either. The rice was on the more dryer side. The most surprising sushi roll was the veggie tempura roll. For being a veggie roll without any fish, it was actually pretty good. I think possibly the most disappointing roll was the sunset roll. Don't expect real crab in here cause it will be the imitation crab. As for Godzilla, don't expect a big Godzilla size roll, but this is another good tasting roll. Another one that was good was the futamaki, this roll makes me think of the Korean kimbap. This roll actually has tamago (egg) in it which you don't find in a lot of rolls which was a nice addition. As for the rainbow roll, don't expect your typical rainbow roll with the slices of fish on top. Instead, they put the fish in the center so that you get a little bit of each type which is a nice difference. If you like cream cheese, crunchiness and a warm roll, I would recommend the spicy crunch. As for the mountain roll that is suppose to have spicy crab in it, it was nice spicy. As for the mama roll and volcano roll, I can't say much about these two since by the time they came out, I was already full. Would I come back? As of now, no. I would wait to see if there are any changes with their rice. I think you would be happier at Simply Sushi in West Jordan. read more

For a good deal on tons of average sushi, this place delivered perfectly. Went for lunch with a big group (they do add automatic gratuity) and did All You Can Eat. The nigiri was great (yeah there is a lot of rice) and I didn't feel sick from any of the ingredients. The Summer roll was a huge hit with our group, and the old standby rolls did not disappoint. Beware with all the rice you probably want to just do 3 or so rolls. The squid nigiri was great but I wouldn't get the eel again. The sauces were all rich and flavorful. Plenty of parking. First and foremost, this is an All-You-Can-Eat sushi joint. It is unfair and incorrect to compare this type of place to a more traditional, high-end sushi restaurant. Never have I found a sushi "buffet" that is as good as one of those places, but the cost is miles apart as well. In sort, if you want top quality sushi, spend more and go somewhere fancy. If you want to have good sushi and try lots of different things, then Sushi Ya is a great place to go. I really enjoyed the Orange Julius roll, and despite the name, it has nothing to do with oranges, aside from the color. Delicious, flavorful roll though.
