Sushi Ya was pretty solid on their 3 roll lunch special, with tax it's $15. The miso soup is standard with all of these take out style sushi spots. It's okay, bland ish, and had ONE tofu in it. It's a pet peeve of mine that all these places skimp on the cheapest ingredients, both the seaweed and silk tofu are pennies when you divide it into a soup. I got the spicy shrimp and avocado, shrimp tempura, and yellowtail jalapeno. All were well made for the price and standard. I wouldn't hesitate to order from here again when craving a decent deal for sushi rolls read more

Quality takeout sushi for an unbeatable price! The fish tasted fresh, great ratio of fish to rice, and very convenient pickup system. 3 rolls and a soup for lunch under $15 with their quality is an amazing deal. I was actually very very surprised that their sushi was so good. I had been avoiding them for years. Then a friend had gotten the lunch special and I could not believe that I liked their sushi rolls. That prompted me to place my own order. It's a takeout spot so you aren't going to make dinner plans here, but I will recommend their sushi. I may have to peruse the menu and see what else I can try. read more

The food is so good!! I was skeptical but I have to say this take out spot is soooooo worth it. I had the Spicy Kani salad and a shrimp tempura burrito and it did not fail. Owners aren't talkative or friendly but just order the food and go eat and realize it's worth it. read more

The peppers, onions and rice werent that great and I didnt even swallow My first piece of steak. Spit it back out (as shown on the plate on the right side). I then picked out all of the pieces of "steak" and put them on the side so I wouldnt mistakenly put anymore of it in my mouth. Then, after I was finished with most of the rice, peppers and onion, the plate sat in front of Me for another 15-20 minutes while I watched tv. The "steak" began to reek of an odor I'm not familiar with. Maybe it was beef but it definitely wasnt steak. Never again. read more

This spot is my go-to on Uber Eats and have never been disappointed with my order. I live in North Philly, so my orders arrive relatively quickly. Everything is always fresh and the perfect temperature when it arrives. I usually order during lunch time and order the sashimi lunch or 3 roll lunch special. The lunch specials are great deals and the fish is the best I've ever gotten through delivery. I've only gotten the salad a few times but I love how there's masago in the dressing. Ordered the 3 roll lunch special for pickup. Food was done on time which was convenient for a quick grab and go because parking around this area is pretty limited. I've been ordering from here for like two years and it never disappoints. I get the three roll combo and i'd call it a good deal. They don't skimp on the fish or put too much rice and everything tastes very fresh and good quality. You get a soup or salad with the combo and I think it's cheaper to call in than to order on an app. read more

Fresh fish served in good portions and at a near reasonable price is difficult to find. Sushiya accomplishes that. I ordered the Tuna and Salmon Lunch. Six (6) pieces of sushi on rice, and a spicy tuna roll, served with a green salad, and my expectations were exceeded. You have a choice of soup or salad. We love this place! Apps & Entree: The food is always fresh and of high quality (not to mention delicious!) I had tried sushi maybe once before trying this spot and I look forward to coming back and trying new rolls! We enjoy the vegetable dumplings, edamame, & Fried veggies (super filling). Desert: I'm a stickler for a traditional tiramisu but I love their tiramisu cake, so light and delicious! But, their chocolate slice is to die for! It's rich but as soft as a could. I enjoy the green tea mochi for a light treat. It's so refreshing and tasty. Same goes for the Taro boba (bubble tea). Both the Mochi and boba were first time tries and I just hope they taste as amazing everywhere! The owners are a lovely couple that enjoy sharing their culture and food with the neighborhood. Visiting from Boston, and this is the first time trying this place for myself. I've tried many places from all over MA and NY, and this place is one of the best for take-out/delivery! 10/10 sushi and very friendly staff! Things that set them apart from others: 1) The fish quality (amazing) 2) The fish to rice ratio is one of the best that I have ever had. (the spicy rolls had a good amount of fish to them vs. tempura crumbs in other places) 3) Reasonable price for the portions/quality If you are ever in the area, give this place a try! When it comes to sushi, they do not mess around. Super fresh and quality food! Let's dive in .... Bubble Tea (5/5): We got the mango milk tea and the flavor was sweet and milky and the tapioca balls were perfect. Far exceeded expectations but the drink leaked slightly. Edamame (3/5): Cooked fine but missing salt. Spicy Kani Salad (4/5): This is a quality dish with nice flavor and texture combo between the kani and cucumber. Would have been nice to have this over a larger bed of lettuce and greens. Tokyo Dumpling Soup (3/5): The miso flavor is nice but the vegetables sadly have little flavor. The dumplings fell apart a bit and the inside of them were alright. Spicy Scallop Avocado Roll (5/5): Wow -- they don't mess around with quantities. This roll was overflowing with scallop and avocado! Both were incredibly fresh. Philadelphia Roll (5/5): Similarly, this roll was packed with fish and avo plus they include a nice dollop of cream cheese. Vegetarian Dragon Roll (5/5): Honestly one of the best vegetarian rolls I've ever tried. The shiitake, avocado, cucumber and crunch come together quite nicely for the perfect flavor and mouthfeel. Peanut Avocado Roll (5/5): Really good with lots of peanut and plenty of avocado too. (Notice a theme here?) I'm stuffed after this! Absolutely delicious! Definitely my new go to Japanese spot. Everything I ordered tasted amazingly fresh and high quality. I don't have a single complaint. The sushi & sashimi for one was perfect and the pork gyoza must have been great because my girlfriend ate all 6 before I could try one lol. The taro bubble tea was delicious as well. I am in love with this place. It's close to Temple University, has amazing sushi, and wonderful staff. The order is always ready right on time and the fish is always fresh. Also, they have great Thai tea, just the right amount of milk and tea. Their prices are affordable and arguably serve better quality fish than some of the higher end restaurants. I live a few blocks from this place and I can't believe I didn't know about it sooner! I ordered the spicy crunch crab roll. I love spicy and this was the perfect amount of kick. I also got the crab wontons. These were also great! Ordered on Grubhub and it said it would be ready in 30 minutes, they had it ready in 15. Hopefully it's good food!? The hostess warned us of 15 minute delay for seatings. No worries. Sat at bar enjoying a beer which was nice. Got to be sat in a room, circular table which was perfect! Then the staff got to work. Took drink orders and food orders. The food was ordered by my daughter so I really don't know what was name of each dish. The Hot and Sour was super. Had a chicken dish like orange chicken that was really good. Something tasted like moshu beef was very tasty. Then they served a spicy chicken that was fantastic! I wish I knew the name!! All in all a good experience.

Maybe a bad choice of dish or an off day but as compared to a few other Sichuan dry pepper dishes from other restaurants around Philly it was a clear step below them. Might try a different choice if I order again.
