The sushi selection was a great variety and some new one's like the Sweet Orange was a nice refreshing take and could be a dessert. Clever takes on sushi. Service was attentive and helpful. Volcanic Scallops roll {5/5 stars, $13.95} - California roll topped with spicy scallops in a sweet unagi orange sauce. One of my new favorites. 2. California rolls {4/5 stars, $6.50} - A simple, yet tasty roll that comes with crab and avocado. Yummy. 3. Cherry blossom roll {4/5 stars, $16.95} - A little pricey, but definitely delicious. A mix of tuna, salmon, and avocado topped with tobiko. 4. Lion King roll {4/5 stars, $13.95} - California roll topped with cooked salmon and a sweet unagi sauce. Food is delicious and under this COVID environment, I trust their health protocols. I always get the Chirashi bowl, ramen, and a couple California rolls. They package their food neatly and securely to go and take my food home to eat. Was craving sushi and decided to try this place out. They're offering delivery and pickup during COVID, and included utensils and lots of soy sauce and condiments. I tried their chicken katsu, dragon roll, and lion king roll, and was pleasantly surprised. The rice in the sushi was perfect and their chicken katsu was crispy and not overly oily and included a side salad with oranges. Both rolls tasted better than average - the dragon roll shrimp got a little soggy but that's to be expected with delivery. Overall, it was a great dine at home experience. Sushi was good, and bento was great. I loved how they included the bento sauce on the side, and packaged the sushi so that it's pretty cleanly separated from the wasabi and ginger. read more

Had dinner at Sushi Yokohama and left with a satisfied tummy! We arrived right at dinner time and was immediately seated. After taking a look over the menu, my party and I decided to order the Edamame appetizer, Shrimp Tempura, Yokohama Ultimate, Hoon's Lion King, and a sashimi/sushi sampler. Our meal also came with a salad and miso soup. Everything was fresh and delicious. Out of everything we ordered, the Hoon's Lion King and the sashimi/sushi sampler were my personal favorite. Just dropped by here since last visit about a couple of years ago. The drastic change of interior indicated a change in the ownership of the establishment. Only one table was occupied at 6PM on Friday which seemed unusual from the past experience. The wonder was soon answered when our orders arrived. (Four dishes) It was beyond disappointment. The portion of every dish was about half of any other neighboring establishments. The quality of fish pieces were subpar at best. Their Chirashi Bowl priced at $30.95, came in a tiny bowl with less than 10 sashimi pieces(very thin and not looking very fresh) that left us with a lot to desire. Don't go here. New ownership as of May '19 has taken a 4 star sushi spot to 0 stars. My family and used to really like it here but we will never go again. Woefully understaffed. 2 servers couldn't keep up with people coming in or the people at the tables. They couldn't keep anyone's order straight or the checks straight. Food has gone down hill BADLY. The Sashimi was cut with the tendons still in the fish. You couldn't chew the sashimi. It took over an hour to get two entrees served. A full 20 minutes before the next two were served. The appetizers were served 10 minutes after everyone was done and waiting for the check. No apologies from management. read more

Updated review after 3 years: The sushi scene in Danville/San Ramon has really expanded over the years. My current favorites are Kibo and Taru in Danville, followed by Yayume and Senro in San Ramon. After coming back for dinner at Yokohama, I would rate it below the aforementioned places. Perhaps on par with Fish on Fire and the new Sushie Foodie. Nigiri had good-sized fish that was soft, fresh, and melt-in-your-mouth. I also enjoyed the O-Toro Nigiri and the Ikura. Despite the excellent fish quality, the rice seemed a bit too densely packed and it even has a few hardened grains in a few of the pieces. Because for me nigiri needs both the fish and rice need to be perfect, 3 stars. Seafood Udon was an okay dish - seafood comprised just of mussels and cooked fish (salmon and tuna). The broth, like the miso soup was on the saltier side. One nice and unique feature of Yokohama is their sports bar-like atmosphere with lots of Steph Curry-themed art throughout the restaurant. Have been to Yokohama at least 5 times the past year. They have new owners but it's still as good as the previous owners. It's crazy that I went to another sushi place in Danville last week and it was about 30-40% more expensive than Yokohama and the service at Yokohama is much better because the wait tume between ordeing and eating is much longer at other Danville sushi restaurants. I really hope more people try Yokohama because they aren't doing a huge amount of business and deserve more. In Japan, going to the most popular sushi restaurant makes sense....they know their sushi. I went here to eat out for my older sister's birthday! I first heard of it through Groupon, where it offered $25 for $40 of food. My initial thought when I walked in was that the environment was extremely loud and noisy since there was a group of little children and their mothers creating a ruckus in the middle of the room. The people at the birthday party were using noise makers and I think that the staff should have more noise control established considering that it deemed to be a negative point on my experience there. I couldn't even focus on eating my own food! The food was mediocre. I ordered a fried fish and tempura bento ($14 for two items) that came with a side salad, miso, and rice. The rice turned out to be extremely dry and the fish was very crispy. I was hoping for a little bit of flakiness from the fish but it was very hard and brittle. The tempura that came with it was undercooked! When I cut up the onion ring, a bunch of flour came out of it and ruined my palate. Seriously, how hard is it to cook an onion ring?? I'm absolutely in LOVE with this place. I have no experience with the former owners as many reviewers had - but the team running it now definitely has a passion for quality! I'm what some would call a sushi guru. I've been devouring the scrumptious Japanese specialty since I was four years old, and I have been able to have tons of different variations. From sweet to spicy, to even macaroni and cheese, but their baseball roll simply knocks it out of the park. Most wouldn't think crab and cream these would go together well, but it is one of my favorite seafood combinations. The quick tempura fry on the exterior is the cherry on top. Think it's too heavy for you, no worries, they have an excellent sashimi menu. Utilizing the local San Francisco bay's fresh fish. Raw fish does't appease you? They also happen to have a great selection of ramen and bento boxes. The place is practically made for families, especially with their unique kids meals having bento boxes instead of a boring old hamburger. These boxes give your child a healthy meal, and a slice of Japanese culture. They also have a kids area were your younger ones can go if they get tired, or even worse...BORED! I've found my new sushi place. I LOVE this place. They're on Eat 24 and sometimes deliver (awesome!), their take-out is super quick most times, and eating in the restaurant at the sushi bar is delightful. Love the quality of the fish, love the variety of the rolls (the Crazy Monster is a particular favorite, that darn thing is an entire meal and more in one roll!) especially the variety of things INSIDE the rolls, it's not all CA-roll inside and random sauce on random fish outside. Their Craig Roll is another favorite, I'm a big fan of the spider roll - interior and then extra fish and goodies on the outside for a protein packed treat. KEY - their sushi rice is AWESOME. Wish they'd offer oyster shooters (why do no sushi places near me make oyster shooters a special? I'd be there DAILY for those addictive little shots) and fresh wasabi, if they had those this would totally be 5 stars forever. Their extensive menu has lots of options, even for the raw-fish wary. My husband regularly gets the ramen here, says it's some of the best he's had, particularly in the area. Their tempura is also full of win, but doesn't travel as well, which is to be expected. The ambiance is also pretty great, given the mini-strip-mall location, it's spacious and well decorated inside, I love that they have local art for sale on the walls.
