We visited on a Friday evening during dinner, and the restaurant was completely packed--we were lucky to get the last available table. Unfortunately, it was extremely hot inside. Despite the heat, the doors remained closed, making the dining room quite uncomfortable. It also appeared there was only one server working the entire restaurant. She was clearly doing her best and working nonstop, but there was simply too much for one person to handle. The table next to us became visibly frustrated while trying to pay and leave, and I also witnessed another customer upset about an issue with their food. Throughout our meal we had to ask multiple times for basic items like place settings, and our water glasses were never refilled even after they had been empty for quite some time. The timing of the food was also very uneven. My sushi and sashimi combo arrived fairly quickly, but it contained a fish bone in one of the pieces of sashimi--the first time I've ever experienced that. My son's curry entrée didn't arrive until about 25 minutes later, and only after we asked about it. It seemed like the order may have been forgotten. Unfortunately, the curry tasted very similar to a boxed curry mix from the grocery store rather than something freshly prepared. I also asked about the rice that should have come with my sushi combo. I was told the meal didn't include rice, even though the menu clearly stated that it did. Overall, the food was just OK, but the quality wasn't nearly as good as several other Japanese restaurants we frequent. I recently caught an afternoon lunch at Nagoya Sushi in hopes to find a dedicated sushi house that expresses their culinary styles to our palate. I'm no soús chef or connoisseur of the sort but I'd like to say I know good food at the very least. Our first impression walking in was standing around and not being acknowledged not knowing if it was open seating or we had to wait. An employee that was on their break alerted someone who then sprung up from behind the counter to greet us and another lady spawned in to let us know we can sit anywhere. Odd but, as long as addressed? The food came quick and left us not as hungry as before but definitely does not hit in any flavorful way. Staff are the same. Just change of name. Quality of protein needs work. The place had 4 people dining in when it is dining time. There were 3 to go orders during the whole time we were there. Food (protein) should not bath in sauce. Sashimi slices should be eaten in smaller slices and not feel like chock hazard sizes. Keeping the ounce/serving is fine. I have to say that sushi is my favorite food. Nothing I had today was good. It was all very mediocre. The sauces didn't add anything to the tempura or the gyoza. The sushi rolls we had we're just flavorless. The miso soup was what I would expect and was nice. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. My family and I come here almost every week. They are a solid Japanese restaurant and have all the basics (sushi, teriyaki, ramen) that you would expect. They recently changed the name and management but the menu and staff is exactly the same. Often times on the weekend they are a bit swamped and have one server doing online orders and tables, so they definitely need to hire more staff. I usually get a roll, or a dinner plate with salmon teriyaki and it's always consistent. Recently I've even been getting a larger portion of salmon teriyaki with my order so that's a plus. The broth had no flavor and wasn't creamy at all, I've had chicken noodle soup with more flavor, and the only thing good in it was the noodles.
