    Three Kinjas Combo
    Jonathan C.

Came here on a Saturday around 6pm. Restaurant was not too busy, and had some tables with chairs on the table as if they were closing. I assume they were short staffed on this day. Was seated promptly. Restaurant has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Yuzu Karage - 4/5: not exactly like Japanese Karage, but was still good. The included yuzu salt had a hint of yuzu, and was good with the Karage. Dark meat used was a definite plus, as it was juicy. Triple Kinja Roll - 4/5: great combination of salmon, cucumber and avocado topped with tuna, hamachi, massage and micro greens. All the fish was fresh, and worked well together. Three Kinjas Combo - 4/5: Chose salmon sashimi, California roll and chef's choice nigiri. Each was fresh, much better than I've had in the area. I've had so much different sushi including sashimi, nigiris, hand rolls and various rolls. For some reason, I crave a good California roll. The California roll here use real crab, and was excellent. Each of salmon, hamachi, hirame, tuna and eel was very good. Overall, great dinner. This is the second time I've come here, and do notice that it is bit hard to get refills of water or tea. Other than that, everyone was friendly. Great sushi spot in the area.

This was the best sushi of the 3 san Ramon Japanese Resturants I went to the past several months. The place is very clean; fish is fresh; and staff is friendly. I found my spot for sushi in Sam Ramon!

Great service. Warm greeting when we walked in. Lots of staff to wait on you, check on you, serving, etc. Large restaurant and spacious. I like that there's space between tables. The fish is fresh and has amazing flavor. I usually rate my sushi based on the hamachi. I ordered a 2-piece nigiri while my husband got the Three Kinjas. I compared the nigiri and the sashimi. Both tasted good but the sashimi was mind-blowing! I should try the hamachi toro next time. Everything on the Three Kinja combo was fantastic! So good!! Tonkotsu Ramen was flavorful. The egg was jammy! The noodles had the perfect texture. The pork was not as tender as I hoped. I had to really bite into it to get a piece. Pork Tonkatsu was delicious. Tender and not greasy. I appreciate the side salad not being overly dressed. It was good. I almost ordered another one but my meal arrived.

Very quick service. Ramen broth was very flavorful and the pork was fatty and very tender. The deep fried seaweed was delicious that came with the ramen.

    I ordered the tempura squid.

Wow! The food is amazing! I ordered a tempura fried squid and a pint of Kirin. Just a quick stop by woah the service was fast and the squid was delicious! I'm going to order more food next time! The ambience was sports type of area .

Came here for lunch with a friend on a Wednesday. We came right when it opened, so it wasn't busy. There were some more people who came after us, but the place never filled up for lunch when we went. I got the tonkatsu bento box with sashimi and my friend got the chicken karaage. I didn't have the chicken karaage, so can't comment on it. The bento box had a nice variety, which I liked, with salad, gyoza, sashimi. The taste was generally good. The restaurant was quiet, so great for meeting up with a friend to catch up. Overall, it's a decent place for a casual meal.

Came here after a spa day and it was a great choice! It's very nice and clean inside. Hostess greeted us right away. We didn't wait long on a Friday night, but they were definitely busy. Sushi was fresh and delicious!! We were very happy with our orders and will definitely be coming back!

Excellent sushi! Very fresh ingredients and everything was delicious. Service was perfect. Nothing could have been better this is a good choice for Japanese food and sushi. I really like the salmon that had the perfectly charred skin.

Really nice place for a sushi date night. The modern ambiance in here makes you feel like you're eating in a different city! Pretty solid spot with a good amount of options other than just sushi. I actually came here wanting the ramen and left loving both the ramen & sushi. There's free green tea on the house and it was slightly strong / not super bitter! Already had a good impression just from that being free, which is nice in this economy. I will say though that every special sushi roll was at a flat price of $20.50. We got the Pork Gyoza for the appetizer, Triple Kinja Roll, and Pork Tonkotsu Ramen. Pork Gyoza was crunchy and juicy. Good amount of serving. Triple Kinja Roll tasted so fresh and delicious with the assorted fish, but it could've used some sort of sauce like unagi sauce to seal the deal in my opinion. The ramen surprised us and it ended up being our favorite out of the three. Not the best broth I've had, but still pretty rich and the crunchy seaweed tempura adds a nice touch to the bouncy noodles. 2 thick tender slices of pork was also scrumptious. #atethatup Definitely would love to come back here! Friendly service as well and we were seated right away on a Wednesday night.

No complaints! The Saketini uses unfiltered sake which was a change. We ordered a variety of rolls, grilled edamame, tempura, and the spicy tonkatsu ramen per recommendation from our server. Definitely hit the spot! Ambiance was rustic, clean, well-lit, and inviting. Would definitely recommend!

Very delicious dishes. Sashimi and sushi was fresh. Karaage was just about right not too soft not overly crispy. Service was very good and attentive. Ambiance was nice. Huge restaurant and comfortable. Nicely decorated, not overly too much.

In San Ramon for a baptism a few Sundays ago, stopped at Kinja with my son and goddaughter for lunch. It was empty at the time we got there, clean and inviting. We were seated right away and helped with recommendations. We ordered pork gyosa, miso soup, California rolls, Rainbow and firefighter we got our food and it was amazing.

First they are very welcoming, treat you like they have known you for ever. That's good, but the food, it was delicious! I had the deep fried spicy tuna roll, I know it's not sushi! And I had the udon noodles. Very good. Our waitress was fantastic! We will definitely be back!

Dragon from another Sushi restaurant ,NOT WELL PLATED & not fresh !!! No pride taken on this sushi roll !!!

The Lotus Root Chips were perfectly crispy and made a delicious appetizer. The Hiroshi Tonkotsu Ramen was the highlight of the meal. The hostess/server was very nice and professional. I ordered the Hiroshi Tonkatsu Ramen together with the Spicy Chicken Wings. The ramen itself was just OK. It was not a memorable taste and the broth was a little lacking. The spicy chicken wing were also a little lacking in flavor. Ordered takeout since we were so tired after tennis. It was nice that they have a seperate door to pick up take out so while I waited on the curbside DD ran into pick up. Easy peasy. When we got home we immediately inhaled it. Loved how they separated the filling from the udon and packed the broth separately. Poached egg was creamy still and blended well with the beef and noodles. We came back again yesterday but wanted to actually dine in. There were no longer long lines from when we last dined in years ago. The line went smoothly and the lady was quick and efficient to take our orders and even gathered Hubs' take out rice bowl for later. The gal at the pick up windown was also proficient as her job and even telling me my clams and ginger udon had just ran out so she gave me a number for my table. The tempura station was always one of my favorites. They just ran out of imitation crab but we snagged the last shrimp tempura. Also got a sweet potato and my favorite, pumpkin . 4/5 crunchy not too oily and naturally sweet. No sauce needed We found a table right away which was wiped clean. DD was half way through her udon when mine barely arrived. After the first sip of broth, it quickly reminded me of why we haven't been back in so long. Warm soup vs piping hot. That's why. Fresh cooked clams and butter ginger melted into the broth was a nice change from the usual. The taste was great and flavorful. Clams were blanched nicely with a few unopened shells that I didn't eat. There was also a few with some sand inside which was expected for a fast foodie style place where clam is ordered. 3.5/5 The other downside from the overall dish for both of us was the over sprinkling of green onions. It left a literal bad taste in both our mouths. Clean restrooms. Overall, 3.5

So incredibly overpriced and disappointing. Their "premium" nigiri (10 pc for $75) was not premium at all. In fact, it was worse than basic/cheap nigiri you get elsewhere. All the pieces were tiny, half of them were chewy, and not at all what the menu said they were supposed to be. For instance, the "king salmon" was "sad" salmon and garnished with some kind of orange marmalade-bizarre and gross. I had to choke down the "Wagyu" nigiri because it was so chewy. I couldn't believe how bad it all was. I should have known the dinner was doomed after I ordered their "Crab amuse," which was three pieces ($18!!) of shredded IMITATION crab wrapped in the thinnest piece of tuna you've ever seen, then placed in a weird, sweet cream sauce. Even the miso soup (which I've never received with nigiri omakase, but ok) was barely room temperature and totally watered down. Sorry, Ukai. I have no idea how your reviews are so high, but you have no business operating as a "sushi" bistro or whatever you want to call yourself. Sigh.
