Our go to Japanese restaurant. Sushi is fresh and really good. Portion is good for the price. Tempura and chicken karage were tasty. Udon and ramen have great flavors, however the ramen broth is too salty for me. Service is a hit and miss. If you get someone who is great, your water is never half empty.. otherwise you have to keep on flagging. They can get a bit disorganized if they get too busy even with the amount of help they have. The owner is very friendly and outgoing. Great table/seating layout and updated interior. All in all, definitely worth checking it out if you haven't done so. Will definitely be back. read more

Came here on a Saturday around 6pm. Restaurant was not too busy, and had some tables with chairs on the table as if they were closing. I assume they were short staffed on this day. Was seated promptly. Restaurant has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Yuzu Karage - 4/5: not exactly like Japanese Karage, but was still good. The included yuzu salt had a hint of yuzu, and was good with the Karage. Dark meat used was a definite plus, as it was juicy. Triple Kinja Roll - 4/5: great combination of salmon, cucumber and avocado topped with tuna, hamachi, massage and micro greens. All the fish was fresh, and worked well together. Three Kinjas Combo - 4/5: Chose salmon sashimi, California roll and chef's choice nigiri. Each was fresh, much better than I've had in the area. I've had so much different sushi including sashimi, nigiris, hand rolls and various rolls. For some reason, I crave a good California roll. The California roll here use real crab, and was excellent. Each of salmon, hamachi, hirame, tuna and eel was very good. Overall, great dinner. This is the second time I've come here, and do notice that it is bit hard to get refills of water or tea. Great service. Warm greeting when we walked in. Lots of staff to wait on you, check on you, serving, etc. Large restaurant and spacious. I like that there's space between tables. The fish is fresh and has amazing flavor. I usually rate my sushi based on the hamachi. I ordered a 2-piece nigiri while my husband got the Three Kinjas. I compared the nigiri and the sashimi. Both tasted good but the sashimi was mind-blowing! I should try the hamachi toro next time. Everything on the Three Kinja combo was fantastic! So good!! Tonkotsu Ramen was flavorful. The egg was jammy! The noodles had the perfect texture. The pork was not as tender as I hoped. I had to really bite into it to get a piece. Pork Tonkatsu was delicious. Tender and not greasy. Came here for lunch with a friend on a Wednesday. We came right when it opened, so it wasn't busy. There were some more people who came after us, but the place never filled up for lunch when we went. I got the tonkatsu bento box with sashimi and my friend got the chicken karaage. I didn't have the chicken karaage, so can't comment on it. The bento box had a nice variety, which I liked, with salad, gyoza, sashimi. The taste was generally good. The restaurant was quiet, so great for meeting up with a friend to catch up. Really nice place for a sushi date night. The modern ambiance in here makes you feel like you're eating in a different city! Pretty solid spot with a good amount of options other than just sushi. I actually came here wanting the ramen and left loving both the ramen & sushi. There's free green tea on the house and it was slightly strong / not super bitter! Already had a good impression just from that being free, which is nice in this economy. I will say though that every special sushi roll was at a flat price of $20.50. We got the Pork Gyoza for the appetizer, Triple Kinja Roll, and Pork Tonkotsu Ramen. Pork Gyoza was crunchy and juicy. Good amount of serving. Triple Kinja Roll tasted so fresh and delicious with the assorted fish, but it could've used some sort of sauce like unagi sauce to seal the deal in my opinion. The ramen surprised us and it ended up being our favorite out of the three. Not the best broth I've had, but still pretty rich and the crunchy seaweed tempura adds a nice touch to the bouncy noodles. 2 thick tender slices of pork was also scrumptious. #atethatup Definitely would love to come back here! I had just written on a sushi place that was AYCE & table tablet , I would personally prefer a full service over AYCE b/c you have a server who is engaged , personable , able to handle a reasonable amount of tables . Nick , Michelle, Fon did an outstanding & amazing job . All the sushi & food we ordered was exceptional & well presented & that includes the cocktails our husbands ordered . We ordered the Baby Yoda roll, Dragon roll , Lion King , Tonkotsu Ramen , crab stuffed jalapenos, fried oysters , poke salad, pork gyoza , teriyaki steak & tempura black sesame seed ice cream we did shared all these items family style. Updated Review after 1.5 years, and its still 5 stars for me. Kinja has grown into our go-to Japanese place for dine-in lunch. We come here a few times per month and don't even visit previous favorites like Yayume and Ukai much these days. The food and service has been consistently good, and the modern ambiance with bright lighting, wooden booths, and Japanese decorations like lanterns gives off a cool vibe. Plus, I like their soundtrack and appreciate the clean bathrooms. We've been ordering the same things during our visits here: 1. Kid's Teriyaki Chicken is still our son's favorite. Sometimes he gobbles up all the chicken but leaves the Gyoza and Tamago for us. 2. The Colt Combo is a good sushi combo for one person - solid California Rolls and a few pieces of really fresh nigiri. More often than not you get unagi among one of the options. 3. Salmon Shioyaki is a great dish for sharing. Its very simple yet so good - grilled skin-on, thick salmon filet with a touch of salt. Seasoned all the way through and you get a really nice outer crispy crust. You don't even need to add sauce as the fish it packed with umami. Watch out for the pickled baby onion and yellow radish here - they are super sour and will perk up your senses. 4. I highly recommend grilled edamame for appetizer - way more flavor burst than steamed and the garlic salt definitely adds some zing to the beans. 5. My wife normally alternates between the Tonkatsu Ramen and getting two more appetizers like some more Gyoza or Tako Sunomono (Octopus with Pickled Cucumber salad). read more

I walked in and the lobby was pretty chaotic with larger parties waiting for tables and people ordering for take out. I ordered wakame salad and miso soup to start, then the Liger roll and a few nigiri. Then I watched as more and more people were coming in the door-- I haven't seen a restaurant this busy in a while and it was nice to see. Given how crowded it was I was expecting to have to wait a bit for my dinner but was pleasantly surprised when my appetizers came within 5 minutes, and then my sushi was being handed over the bar 5 minutes after that. I'm writing this as someone who has worked in the service and food industry, but after this experience, I won't be returning to this restaurant. I ordered several rolls Togo online (by the way they charge a silly .15 for bags and you cannot bypass this option without making the selection) and when I got home, one of the rolls was missing an ingredient. I immediately called to let them know. The gentleman I spoke with was very professional, but the decision-makers made little effort to correct the mistake IMHO. After I explained what was missing, he checked with the sushi manager and the owner while I waited on hold. Their solution was to first have me send photos of the food, which I did. Next they apologized via text message and offered to comp edamame on my next visit. I appreciate the apology, but at no point did anyone offer to remake the roll or make the order right. I'm not looking for a free appetizer on a future visit--I'm looking for the food I paid for to be prepared correctly without missing ingredients. Offering to remake the item should have been one of the first solutions. Then any other solutions after would be at the restaurant discretion. That would have been the prudent thing to do but instead here is something free. Just saying... Is it too much to expect a restaurant to stand behind its food and fix a clear mistake? read more

Came here on August 14th as it's what my son wanted for his birthday. We were ready to try something new so I found this location on yelp after looking at the reviews. Right away you walk in and it's beyond very clean and a very good vibe. There is a ton of seating. I really liked the mountain scene on the wall. Staff is very friendly and ready to make good suggestions upon asking. As far as the sushi it self it was by far the best we have had in a long time. The ordering process is easy and you get pictures with most or all the options on the menu. For the insane amount of food that we ordered I was very impressed with the cost of it. Service was slow, albeit it was a Friday evening, but we were seated for 15 mins before our server came over to take our order. The rest of the time our main server didn't really check on us but there was another server who would check in once a while. Ambiance was fine for Friday evening, a bit loud but expected. The establishment seemed clean and was well decorated. Food-wise most of the dishes were decent. The sushi was solid, and the rolls were good. Some of the appetizers were good such as the japalote (not a Japanese dish?) and the shrimp ceviche (also not Japanese). However they really messed up the karaage - chef needs to eat real karaage so they don't end up serving us chicken fingers! Also there is supposed to be a t least a hint of yuzu but it was nowhere to be found... While the Japanese dishes were decent, I think their non-Japanese food (including the fake karaage) were better tasting. The interior was spacious yet cozy and very nicely done. I was seated immediately upon arrival. I ordered my usual teriyaki beef and Tempura bento with gyoza, salad and rice. Everything was on point!
