Food My frost time trying this place and everything was so delicious. The quality of the seafood was fresh and the price is affordable and comparable to other sushi restaurants. Service Service is nice. They continue to check up on you. Our server noticed right away that our bill was wrong. He was very kind about it and readjusted it quickly. Ambience Plenty of seating for individuals and groups! The restaurant itself is very clean. The parking lot is limited though as the plaza is small and only contains restaurants so street parking may be the way to go

Even though it's been over a year since my visit, this omakase still lives rent-free in my head--and that says everything. Every course was exceptionally fresh, thoughtfully composed, and downright delicious. The progression was beautifully paced and surprisingly filling (you will not leave hungry, trust). The uni and caviar courses? Absolute show-stoppers--luxurious, briny, and genuinely tear-inducing in the best way. Every bite felt intentional and aesthetically stunning without trying too hard. Service was warm, attentive, and seamless, elevating the entire experience without ever feeling intrusive. This is the kind of omakase that reminds you why you splurge in the first place. Highly recommend. Would return in a heartbeat.

Small and cozy. We ordered off of their HH menu and regular menu. Service was attentive. The sake flight was smooth. Oysters were fresh! Everything else was good, but for what we paid; I'd would have preferred other local places. Glad I got to try it. I probably would return to have the omakase over the regular menu.

Was craving some sushi and in the convoy area so stopped by Ju-ichi and luckily they had some seating at the counter for us. It's a small restaurant with maybe four or five tables and a counter area with seat for ten. We got settled and ordered some nigiri, otoro, kinmadai, king salmon and yellowtail crudo and seared ahi tuna. The nigiri sushi was delicious, every fish was fresh and perfect temperature. Not a lot of yuzu salt or toppings, so you really got to experience the freshness of the fish. The crudo was also tasty. They had some chili oil in the sauce the yellowtail was resting in, which gave it a nice heat. On the side they had some grape tomato halves that had sugar on top which had been caramelized with a blow torch. A nice touch. The seared tuna was my least favorite. Not a bad dish but it lacked character. I wanted a bit more than just seared tuna slices with chilli powder on top. All in all was a good experience and I'll definitely be back here again.

We've been here twice now. Love the intimacy of the sushi bar, excellent service both times. The first time we went we had a variety of fish (mostly dealers choice), clam miso soup was amazing, and a snow crab small rice dish. We loved it so much we went back a few months later for their Sunday tasting menu. What a treat! An intimate setting with the restaurant staff. It was a large tasting menu with a variety of food, tapas, pasta, sashimi, fry break, nigiri, and much more. We had a great time tasting through the menu and did the sake pairing as well. I highly recommend this experience and we will be back!

Brought my mom here for her birthday for sushi specifically. Ordered the miso soup and mixed tempura to start with. The sushi rolls were fresh, flavorful, and well portioned. Sushi rice was cooked perfectly. The server, who seemed to be part of ownership, was really kind and helpful. Really excited to return to try more.

Still a 20/10 experience. The nigiri is sooo fresh and unique. My new favorite roll is the influencer roll but like always the negitoro hand roll was the star!! Will definately keep coming back.

We have spicy selfie roll, Philly roll, and tempura shrimp. The sushi roll is just okay, not great, and not bad. The tempura shrimp is a major letdown. The picture clearly shows it's not tempura shrimp, more like a poorly made panko shrimp. This isn't a real Japanese restaurant, and the sushi chef isn't Japanese. With so many great options in the Convoy area, I'll probably skip this one.

We came here to celebrate our 22nd anniversary, hoping for a nice experience. We were not disappointed. Sunday night is reserved for kaiseki style omakase, and all 12 diners were seated around the sushi bar. The restaurant was closed to regular patrons so the chef and staff can concentrate on us. The set menu consisted of cooked and raw fish, each course beautifully presented. But it wasn't just visually appealing, it was tasty. While the pictures I took shows the artful presentation, it does not capture how delicious each offering was. We genuinely loved each dish, right down to the perfect palate cleansing dessert ending. The chef carefully explained each course as it was presented, blending knowledge and humor. The two ladies serving us were super attentive and absolutely professional. Overall, it was the best omakase experience we've ever enjoyed, and a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary.

I mean, Oishi!! Yum! Came here on a weds night because didn't want to take the chance of a possibly busy Friday night. The atmosphere was really chill. I don't remember if there was music or not but we were able to hear each other talk without having to yell. It's a small place so definitely make reservations. Our waiter was Thy and he was awesome! I've been here once before and sat at the bar then, but my sister have not and she only eat cooked food so she had alot of questions and he was great at answering and explaining to her about the menu. First thing we got was the broiled oysters and it was really tasty, we had to order another plate. The snow crab mini bowl, was not that mini and it had alot of crab in it! see pictures! Very filling and love that you get so much real crab for the price! I had most of the raw food and it was definitely fresh and delicious. My toro mini bowl was filled with alot of toro as well. My favorite was the toro uni hand roll, there was so much truffle shavings on there, SOOOOO good! And the toro and hamachi sashimi omg melt in your mouth delicious! I also forgot the Hamachi crudo is also so good! We were definitely happy diners. If you haven't been here, it's a must try!

Quite disappointed with the food here at Ju-ichi. This was recommended by a friend, but it honestly wasn't anything special. We paid 73$ (not included tip) for 2 rolls and an appetizer + miso soup. Being on the expensive side I expected the fish to stand out more but it didn't seem like the quality was up to par for the price point. I also feel like the toppings of the rolls either overpowered the sushi or did not pair well.

SO. FRESH. SO GOOD. We came here on a whim for happy hour and it totally hit the spot. I had a mini toro rice bowl that was buttery, fresh, and honestly could've been twice the size and I still would've scraped the bowl clean. My husband had the snow crab version and a chirashi bowl. Why choose just one when it's happy hour, right? He also had a Harland lager, and I got a glass of sake that was so generously poured it felt like a whole small bottle. Not complaining. We ordered a side of rice and miso soup for our little Filipina queen, who needs rice in her soups (tradition and taste, baby!). The miso soup was rich, savory, and full of umami. We all ended up putting the rice into the soup, and even my husband, who's normally anti rice-in-soup, couldn't stop raving about it. That's how good it was. Dessert? Say less. The pot du crème was a mousse-lovers dream. Smooth, velvety, and topped with two big ol' pieces of candied bacon that took it from "yum" to "WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE." This place is an easy yes. Fresh fish, killer happy hour, and food that makes you rethink all your past miso soup experiences. Already planning our next visit.

Our group of four left satisfied. Value: Four adults without drinks came to about $180 before tip. It's pricey but considering it's fresh sushi made to order and not generic rolls left on a counter like other buffets I think it warrants the higher price. Be advised adding sashimi is an additional ~$13. Service: Very quick to take orders, bring out food (fried/baked will take longer), fill waters and give the bill when ready. Excellent. Interior: Very clean, modern, and my guest was able to watch the padres game while we ate. Overall: If you're willing to spend over $40 on quality sushi, you'll love it here. If you only want appetizer items you may get bored of all the fried items, seaweed salad, and soups. And if going that option it wouldn't be worth the $40+.

We walked in and were immediately greeted by the girls up front and sat at a nice table outside on the back patio. We ordered the chef's choice sashimi, poke, beer, and green grape soju. I ended up asking for lemonade too to mix with my soju since I rarely drink and do not like the taste of alcohol lol. The theme of Sushi MARU is truly attention to detail, and that extends from arrival, to service, to, of course, the food. Staff were incredibly attentive and easy to talk to, including the chefs. The food, I will comment on just generally as the menu is constantly changing (as is the case with many omakase): each dish was composed of pieces that complemented each other well and created a cohesive flavor pallette. Each nigiri was artfully prepared that emphased the quality and cut of the fish, and were complemented by flavors to further highlight that. The flow of the evening was non-traditional omakase, but it felt perfect. Price ($180pp) is not for the faint of heart, but is cheaper than others I've seen. Made the reservatiin online at the beginning of March for an omakase seating in April to celebrate husband's bday. They had a 5:15pm seating on a weekday at the sushi counter. Unlike other omakase restaurants, Soichi offers their full vs petite vs nigiri only omakases at variable times (not limited to 2 seating times like others). You can also enjoy any of these omakases or order a la carte or both at the tables and outside patio also. The ambiance is bright and full of energy. He was very nice, friendly, professional, and skilled. When we had questions, he answered them promptly and kindly. He also checked in with us to ensure the ratio of rice and sashimi was OK for us (of course it was). They served on unique plates too. Everything tasted so fresh and smooth. Some items were also unique compared to other omakase restaurants. The chawanmushj was also piping hot when served, so it also tasted fresh. They have barley tea here too and not just green tea. The service and partnership between the sushi chef and the wait staff was fantastic and every interaction was well thought out. The appetizer wasn't my cup of tea, but the sashimi, nigiri, grilled fish, chawanmushi were really good. The assortment of fish (at least for this season) wasn't my favorite (featuring sardines, mackerel, etc.) when I would have loved some yellowtail and salmon belly. We ordered a negitoro cut roll a la carte because we were still a little hungry - this was super tasty as the quality of the tuna/toro is top notch. For dessert, they had 4 flavors of homemade ice cream to pick from. The sesame was incredible and the roasted green tea really good too. I feel like most of the omakase I've been to have 2-3 seating for dinner, so all the customers for that time arrive at the same time and everyone is at the same point of the omakase. At Soichi, it seems like each party has their reservation at a different time (4:30, 4:45, 5:00, etc.) so each group is at a different part of their meal, not to mention some parties that ordered a la carte or a different omakase menu (sushi only option, etc.) As a result, the chef is bouncing around working on a bunch of different items, and we had to wait quite a bit for each of our nigiri courses. The whole meal took 2.5 hours. We also felt less of that group vibe with other parties that is common in other omakases. Overall, we still had a really lovely time and glad we got to try it!,

[Service] - Friendly, charming, attentive, helpful - Shoutout to our Chef, Hiro-San & server Ken-San for making sure our experience was beyond amazing! Thank you! [Ambiance] - Classy, upscale, intimate - Has sushi bar & patio seating [Overall] - Made reservations for a party of 6 for my bf's bday and they definitely made it special! I love that they took pics for us with the chefs and even gave us a print out with a stand. So cute! - Would definitely come back for the food, vibes, and great service! - Each season they have a different menu, if you had all 4 on your stamp card, you'd receive a little gift! I definitely would love to try all 4 seasons but unfortunately I don't live around the area.

Originally, I sought out Michelin star restaurants in the SD area but they didn't have a lot of…read moreglowing reviews. I found out about Ichifuji through some Reddit forums for omakase's. Ichifuji has routinely been one of the personal favorites of many users. I booked a reservation. It was about $160 before tax and tip. Definitely a lot cheaper than most of the Chicago ones and the quality of each course was exceptional. Our chef had a great sense of humor. Everyone was pleasant to talk to. I recommend coming here early before your reservation to secure a parking spot, at least an hour or more. The lot is shared with a Vietnamese restaurant and the parking lot is already small. We thought about parking in the bigger lot to the right but was unsure due to the towing signs. We're from out of State so we didn't want to risk it. If you have the money to spare with no kids, I recommend coming here.

High quality sushi at a low-key spot! We visited during early dinner without a reservation and was…read morelucky to get seated right away! It looks like most of the other tables were reserved for reservations. The decor is modern and very clean and chic. They also had a high chair and was accommodating with our baby. Food was incredible and the quality of the fish is evident throughout. We started with the mixed shrimp and vegetable tempura - light crispy batter, really good. The sashimi champaloo came with 12 pieces of sashimi, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and the fish of the day was albacore. For rolls, we got the Luna Lemon, Maru's Sushi Toro, and Hamachi Hiro. The rolls were a good size and I loved how each had a fun twist (but at the same time not TOO crazy with their combinations like some other sushi places). You can tell it was designed with intention and each roll had a nice balance. The Luna Lemon roll was great with spicy tuna inside, salmon outside, and the soy dressing and shallot oil put it over the top. The Maru's Sushi - Toro roll looked so good in the photos so I knew we had to order it. The negitoro was delicious and did not disappoint. The Hamachi Hiro roll was hearty and loved the combination of yellowtail outside the shrimp tempura in the inside. We were blown away by how fast the service is. The staff was friendly and on top of everything, and the food came out REALLY fast. For example, when we ordered an extra roll at the end, it came out in maybe 3 minutes and we were shocked. Highly recommend!

My favorite sushi place for the north SD area! Their sashimi has been fresh everytime, very unique…read moredishes also available like carpaccio with monk fish liver that you can't easily find elsewhere to try. They also have a rotating specials menu so there's different seafood options to try for your sushi and also cooked options. My go to is the chirashi bowl. Good portions and delicious sashimi! Sushi is one of my favorite foods, so I don't say it lightly :). I have brought family and friends back here too My brother in law brought his kid and tried the chicken of the sea nuggets (tuna) and even I loved them! Friendly service, although sometimes food takes a while to come out. The parking is plentiful, in a plaza parking lot. Good ambiance for a bit more casual date night that's cozy!
