One of the easiest 5 star reviews! We did a 7-person lunch here, and even though the restaurant is small we were able to push two tables together and it was no problem. The wait staff were all so lovely, very accommodating for a large group and didn't mix up our orders. Very friendly and quick to serve/refill waters, take orders, and ask for the bill. The lunch special is a GREAT deal- you can get a 3-item bento box (with options like sushi, teriyaki meats, gyoza, tempura, etc) for $18.95. This also includes an "appetizer" salad/miso soup that's served while you wait for your meal. Folks who got the house special rolls were very happy with the fish quality. I drive by here often, so I decided to try the lunch menu. I had the 3 item bento box meal with tempura, chicken teriyaki and tuna sashimi. The tempura was very good. The chicken was overcooked and charred too much and the sauce was bitter. The sashimi, miso soup and salad was all ok. Portions are good. Awesome little sushi spot in Livermore. We came for an early dinner after the pumpkin patch and it wasn't busy around 4pm. The staff seated us immediately and were very friendly. We had a party of five and our waters kept being refilled and received plenty of attention. The lot is large so parking isn't an issue. The raw fish was tender and tasty. The oyster shooters were bigger than expected and serviced in small cognac glasses. I enjoyed it but others didn't. There were quite a few orders to go so the place seems to be popular. My husband and I came to Livermore for an art class that we bought on Groupon for our date night. Since traffic is unpredictable from South Bay, we drove up early afternoon to have dinner before the class. We weren't sure what we wanted to have for dinner but since I've been looking forward to a sushi dinner, we found this place on Yelp and decided to try it. I had a chirashi bowl (which came on a plate, interestingly) and my husband got the dinner 2-item bento box (saba shioyaki & combo tempura). The service was good and the food came quickly. I really like Sushi Zone! I've been eating here consistently for a year and typically have great experiences. However, I recently got takeout and was disappointed with my order. I ordered a roll for $15 that was so...small! There was barely any rice and it was significantly smaller than rolls I've ordered in the past. Feels crazy to pay $15 for such a small portion. Gosh - can I take off a star because they're closed on Mondays and that is always the day I'm craving a lion king roll? But I just stopped by and they will be opened on Mondays starting in March 2025! Sushi Zone is a fantastic additional to Livermore and for the years to come. Great for groups or couples, even great if you are solo (sushi bar). They have tvs and do show the games. It's your neighborhood sushi joint and they always have regulars and the service is fantastic. Check the board for specials right behind the sushi bar. There is some outdoor seating - perfect especially during the summer, but the inside fits a good amount of people. Lots of options to chose from and there is a great selection for nigiri like amaebi and the occasional mirugai. They make a MEAN lion king here and it's one of the best that I have had! The rolls are huge and there are too many to choose from. Luckily, their menu also has pictures so if you are a visual person, it makes it easier to decide. I have seen the bento boxes and they are excessively huge - you're getting the best portions for the price here. My favorite appetizers are the grilled garlic edamame and the hamachi kama. I can't rave enough about the portions and the quality here and am so excited to have stumbled upon them as an alternative to Wasabi Bistro. read more

Excellent sushi and great prices. It's definitely a more casual sushi spot, but that's part of what I love about it. The service is great and they are willing to make adjustments that you ask for. I went in and was looking to sub the rice in my roll out for cucumber instead. Our server asked the sushi chef, and had no problem accommodating that request. They have lots of different rolls, both cooked and fresh (my personal favorite). Everything tastes of high quality ingredients and they have some really creative rolls as well which is great for trying something new. Definitely recommend for a casual sushi meal! read more

We came here with a large group of 9 without a reservation and they were able to seat us right away. 6 of us ordered the Bento box and were very impressed with the amount of food! Although the beef was ok, the tempura, teriyaki chicken, chicken katsu, mackerel, and California rolls were delicious. The tempura was light and crispy with a great variety of vegetables (broccoli, carrot, sweet potato, onion, squash). The other orders included spicy chicken, which was spicy and tasty, sashimi, which was very fresh and delicious, and shrimp tempura, which was light and crispy. The WORST bento box I have EVER had! I ordered Beef Teriyaki and Saba Shioyaki combo. The beef was beef jerky and saba was a piece of cardboard, just like the beef. When we drive past this place, it seemed like it was always packed so on a lazy Saturday, when it was time to try a new resto, we went. A menu with lunch specials was a great surprise! I chose the 2-item Tempura & Salmon teriyaki bento and my craving for unagi was satisfied with a hand roll. My 2 item bento was a lot of food. It started with miso soup & a salad. The dressing seemed like a house made recipe- tangy & sweet. Two pieces of salmon & a generous portion of 1 piece of shrimp & veggies tempura was very filling. I almost regretted ordering the Unagi hand roll because I was so stuffed. My craving got the better of me. The unagi was soft & its sauce just delish. The sushi rice vinegary taste was perfect. Service was pleasant & attentive. Our server smiled & the repartee between her & the sushi-makers was very family-like & friendly. It created a great atmosphere. I have been a consistent customer since 2013 and this place is SOLID!! It's a secret gem and I love their service and enjoy their dishes. My favorite is the As roll. The overall ambiance is family friendly. It is also a restaurant where you're able to visit alone and sit at the bar. Their prices are reasonable and food comes within a typical waiting period. I recommend the sashimi or their bento boxes. They offer a variety of options without extra charges-- like many other places. A sushi restaurant is set apart by its sashimi. There's nowhere to hide with sashimi. It's either good, well-sliced fish or it isn't. Lucky for me, Sushi Zone serves up good sashimi. I had the fatty tuna. It comes with four hearty pieces at a very reasonable price. The simple rolls are also very appetizing. I enjoyed the spicy tuna and the California rolls. It's good to find a local restaurant that can do simple sushi justice. My only complaint (and it's hardly a complaint) is that their rolls come with only 6 pieces, rather than the 8 I'm used to. read more

Well today went in to have lunch with my daughter mother and son. My son brought in Panda he has chrones disease he eats what he can. They sat us down and saw he brought his food . They kept looking over at us and then said he had to leave no outside food. But we could sit out in their cold patio and order food. Really why not just tell us next time no outside food? I go here for the OMG roll. Everything else is pretty average. The place is small and can get pretty busy for dinner especially weekends so expect a wait if you come at these times. The decor is average nothing fancy. Just close to home and convenient when my family and I want some sushi in Livermore. My 2 sons love chicken katsu and they are not very picky but they ordered it a few times and both say the one from here is dry and does not taste fresh and they don't like it. They won't eat it here anymore and only eat the California rolls. That's why we haven't been there in a while. My wife and I will be back when the kids are in school one day. If you like sushi I think this place is one of the better ones in Livermore. read more

Simply delicious! My family and I normally go to Wasabi Bistro in Springtown but we'd just finished at the Livermore Library & I was craving sushi. Sushi Zone did not disappoint. The women were all very nice and the portions were perfect. The menu selections was great, plenty to choose from, the fish was fresh, the rolls were great sizes and my kiddo absolutely loved the salmon teriyaki. The joint itself reminded me of the old school sushi restaurants I went to as a kid - small, bar option and everyone knows everyone.
