Spicy ahi donburi, shrimp tempura roll, Spam Roll, takoyaki
    Jojo L.

I've been going to Sushiman for as long as I could remember and this ended up being my younger brothers favorite spot, too! Throughout the years, the taste and portions have always been consistent, as well as talking story with the friendly staff. Although they are known for their sushi and handrolls, they also sell donburi and meat options! We got the spicy ahi donburi, shrimp tempura roll, spam roll and takoyaki. Sometimes the spicy ahi can range in spice, but the freshness in taste is always there. The shop is located inside Pearl Highlands Center foodcourt. There are a good amount of seating areas, so long as it is not rush hour. Lots of parking outside, too!

If I could rate it a 0, I would. Located in pearl highlands food court, my friend bought the ahi roll and some other sushi to fit in a little bento take out tray. After he ate the ahi roll, his stomach felt funny and he started to throw up because the fish was bad. I went to the counter to return the sushi, but she said the other sushi isn't fish (but how you eat the rest of it if you're already throwing up?) And she said "not fair, no refund, those others aren't fish" even when I was returning it all to her. That is super bad customer service. Not ever eating here again. They don't serve fresh fish here because when I bought a while back, it didn't taste fresh either, and because she was rude and didn't refund for something my friend got sick from and we returned most of it without even getting a partial refund, we will not buy from them again. It just a really awful taste in our mouths, both literally and rhetorically.

Awesome find here at SushiMan Pearl Highlands! My wife's favorite -- matter fact, ONLY THING she orders from SushiMan is the Crunchy Don. Once upon a time, that could only be found at the Hawaii Kai location, but guess not anymore! Super happy to see this spot serve the Crunchy Don as well. It was probably on their menu for years, but the Hawaii Kai SushiMan said they're the only ones who make it, so we didn't even bother to check Pearl City. The Crunchy Don - Sushi rice with a light sprinkle of furikake, topped with crispy/crunchy fried vegetable tempura cut into bite size pieces, layered with sweet unagi sauce and finished with spicy ahi and green onions. Delicious and filling! The aunties that work here are so friendly and patient. There have been a few times we were indecisive, and they were always happy to answer any questions and didn't seem bothered or rushed for us to order. Love that! I also appreciate that they don't nickel and dime and charge for wasabi and ginger. I think that's beyond unreasonable for places that sell sushi and don't even give you one for free. Ok, rant over lol. Anyways, if you try the Crunchy Don, eat it asap!! Warm and crunchy is the only way to go. Hope you like it! :)

We ordered boba drinks. And they were delicious. My daughter got the taro and I'm old school honeydew and both were delicious. They were good size for the money too. The service was quick and friendly. The ambiance is food court with many choices to choice from for both food and drinks. I haven't been here in a while but will definitely be back.

Located in Pearl Highlands Foodcourt. Enter on the right & walk down to the very end. Nice worker lady. Unagi-Donburi is great! Dragon roll maki = pretty good. Mango Smoothie = Awesome! Will be back! Mahalo!

Everyone in Hawaii knows of at least one SushiMan store and in the back of our minds we probably remember coming here or seeing it in passing growing up. It's a small, reliable place to get some simple, fair priced sushi. This location specifically is a great spot for a snack or cheap meal when you're in the area. Since it's in a food court, it won't be too hard to find a place to sit and enjoy, or if you're a worker, the aunties in the back got quick hands to get you in and out so you can maximize your lunch break. Although, you may have a bit of a wait during peak lunch/dinner times. Honestly, it's not someplace you come for a date, but it's also not a bad place to come. I can imagine that this local business stays alive because of their consistent delivery of decent priced sushi, and convenient locations. What more can you ask for? We always need those places that are not too expensive, not too questionably cheap, but just right (especially when it comes to raw fish!).

While doing some errands in the complex, we stopped in at Highlands Market food court for take-out. Been awhile since we were here & it was nice to see the new food places & renovated dining area & bathrooms. Hubby selected Sushi Man as his choice. We were greeted by a nice, friendly lady. She didn't rush hubby to order, but patiently waited & politely answered our questions. After he ordered, the wait time was just a few minutes. It was just after 11AM so the lunch crowd hadn't hit yet. He ordered miso soup, bento #4 for $10.99, & an order of gyoza. Miso soup They used a 12 oz cup. At first I thought they didn't fill it up all the way but when we got home. I measured it & it was exactly 1 cup/8 oz. It still looked weird but hubby enjoyed the soup & said it had good flavor. The only thing he noticed was they put a little too much seaweed in it. Gyoza 5 pieces of fried gyoza. I snuck a piece & thought it was good. He thought so, too Bento #4 This bento comes with 3 shrimp tempura, 1 vegetable tempura, rice, green salad with 1 grape tomato & a piece of daikon. Hubby thought the bento tasted ok but has had better. He was not impressed. Shrimp was thin & tasted old, the tempura batter was pretty thick. Salad was good. Vegetable tempura ok, it was a little hard to eat. I tasted the rice & it was good. It was seasoned like they do sushi rice & sprinkled with furikake. Overall, ok place to eat at. I'm sure they have other menu items they do well. Customer service was excellent.

My go to spot for a snack. I get their vegetable tempura roll and their shrimp tempura roll. Freshly made with a nice crunchy bite. Workers there are kind, so be nice too! It sometimes takes a little longer to create these tasty treats. This gem is located in the Pearl Highlands food court at the very end. Parking is everywhere.

Got a dragon roll and taro bubble tea. The picture made the bubble tea look like tea, not blended smoothie so I was a bit sad when I got a blended drink. It was ok. Dragon roll was massive. It's a standard roll but filling.

Sushi man is a quick service sushi spot. Located towards the back in the Pearl highland food court. So there are tables and chairs to enjoy your meal there but sometimes the food court gets packed. This location in particular awesome. The lady that is always there has great customer service and is extremely nice. Prices are great and the food is just as great. I really only get the hand rolls because they are stuffed. Favorites are the red dragon roll and the Philly!

We got smoked out and it got bad to the point where my eyes were getting watery. Not sure if this happens all the time at this spot- this was my first time. The service was okay. We waited over 10 minutes to get cups of water and to put in our order. I totally get that they were short handed which also explains why it took almost 40 minutes for us to be served. Ordered the Negi-Hamachi to try something different. Hamachi is my favorite fish served sashimi style so I decided to switch it up and order the Negi-Hamachi which is finely chopped, yellow-tail with green onion and wasabi over sushi rice served with tsukemono and miso soup. I was super happy with this because the Hamachi was delicious and surprisingly, I did not feel bloated or too full afterwards.

It took over the former spot of MBC (Monterey…read moreBay Canners, where I have many fond memories of eating dozens of oysters), that unfortunately, closed during the pandemic. It's a suitable replacement for the time, for families to enjoy sushi or a Teppanyaki dinner "show". The layout has the Teppanyaki dining tables in the front as you enter, rather than at the back of on the side. I suppose it gives an air of excitement as you walk in and watch the chefs put on their show, but the level of "noise" it creates is a bit overwhelming if you're trying to enjoy a nice dinner with a date, or family and friends Our extended family (10 people) went there for an early (5:30pm) dinner on Saturday, before Father's Day, and were seated at the side room behind the glass partitions. From there, we could hear everything happening at the Teppanyaki tables, as though we were right there; especially when they sang "Happy birthday" about 4 different times for the parties enjoying their dinner. Just as a "heads up", I'm not against it, but it was really difficult for us in the other room to actually have a normal conversation across the table while ago that was happening. The food is pretty decent, with a wide selection of sushi rolls and other standard items. I'm not a big sushi roll eater, I prefer great sashimi and an occasional nigiri, but the rolls were pretty good, with several unique offerings. They have Oyster shooters and Uni shooters that come as 2 per order. There were 3 of us (me, my daughter and SIL), so we asked if we could just order 3, rather than 4, but sadly, no. It was fine, and someone in the group ate the other one, but I wished they would price it as each; as most other restaurants that have this item do. The sashimi was average, but it's more of a family dining spot, rather than a sushi bar. The service was good, and everyone enjoyed the food and fellowship. I may be tempted to come to try the Teppanyaki in the future, especially if I'm bringing my granddaughter for the show.
