Decided to try this Mililani location and was a bit disappointed. Ordered takeout for two"Dinner Bento B" that have good variety. The spicy tuna and tamago(egg) sushi tasted good but the rest was boring and didn't seem that fresh. The young boy that was working the counter seemed pleasant but didn't have enough customer service skills to know to call me or bring my order to me as I waited just outside the door of the tiny establishment when it was super slow where I was the only customer. I was hoping for a few warm soft slices of fish on a cold blustery day. Instead I had cold rubbery slices on one choice and tepid chewy tempura in the other. Ah well, I guess it was a good reminder of why I rarely stop here for a quick bite. The shop is small and crowded, but clean. The very nice woman behind the counter was quick to help me with suggestions and truly wanted me to have a positive experience. If I had stayed I'd have asked about the temperature of the unagi and would have suggested she mention it to the person making the food in the back room. I didn't go in expecting much, and I'm sad to say that that's exactly what I got- not much out of the experience. I truly hope that it's just my visit, and I know that they've been there for a long time, which tells me that they have many happy customers. What we got was ripped off!! All the sushi they made shrank and the cone sushi maybe had a tablespoon of rice in it. Cone is suppose to be fat with rice, ours was thin!! I go here often and the girls behind the counter are not friendly & they always seem preoccupied with their phones or friends who come in to visit their friends who are working. I met a girl with glasses wasn't really friendly felt like she was rushing me I guess cuz it was close to closing time but I noticed she was wearing gloves on while she was handling the cashier register and running to the back to make the food. eek no hygiene. I ordered spicy ahi bowl and I can tell ahi was not fresh!!! and very little for $10.99 smh. She just gave me my food with no fork or sauce didn't even ask if I needed any. terrible service and food didnt eat much of it just threw it away and told myself I'm never going back there again.....hour later my stomach hurts ended up having diarrhea. Then another lady said that they I not make two kinds of sushi only saying that there closing by 730pm. In other words they were more concerned about closing then servicing guest. 12/13/24 I purchased 2 platters totaling $93.17 with tax. As I walked to my car I noticed the 2nd receipt totaling $101.61 with no breakdown of charges other than "quick item". I went back and questioned the counter person who claimed no knowledge of why the difference until she spoke to her manager in the back who said the difference was the fee for using a credit credit. I said to the girl you made no mention of the fee or I would've paid cash. She said I mentioned this to you and I quickly cut her off and said BS and she quickly said oh sorry. Her boss came out and pointed to a small sign reminding customers of the 3% feet tonite a CC. I said that sign is so small and irregardless something should have been said prior to paying. Then I figured out the difference between the first receipt and the quick item receipt and the difference represented a difference of 9.04% not 3.0% and brought it up to the girl. The girl said no one ever checks and they're fine with it! I said how do you know?! You're ripping customers off. She said she's not involved with that stuff. Her boss came out and said he'll pay me back the $8+ dollars when I pick up my order at 5;00 today and rushed to the back saying he couldn't talk to me as he was too busy! WTH!!! Stay away from this place. I'm gonna check my order later to make sure I get all sushi in each platter I paid for! I already called the DCCA and filed a formal complaint. This sushi spot is the closest to home but not my fave. I will pop in if I'm at the Shopping Center, but I'll hardly just have to have sushi from here for some reason. I used to grab a boba every now and then before the actual boba spots have come to Mililani. The sushi is alright, the prices are kind of going up but that's no different than the others. This shop itself is a bit small so I normally take anything to go. As I usually say about this Shopping Center, the parking is horrible. Not their fault but still sways my decision from coming here. I was in charge of picking up a snack for a few people, so I decided to get a sushi combo platter which includes items like California rolls, shrimp, cucumber, takuan, ahi, egg, eel, etc. However, after taking the cover off the platter, I saw that the sushi rolls had come apart and there were empty spots on the platter which made it looked like pieces were missing. Additionally, the avocado in the California rolls looked a little brown. Although the staff seem nice, the quality of food that I had the last two times have been rather disappointing. The ahi was not good today. Went back for a refund on the 2 makis that I purchased. The manager has very bad customer service. She said her name is "Rebecca". I explained to her what was wrong & maybe my taste buds are off. But, my husband said his ahi did not taste right at all (texture, taste, color & temperature all off) "Rebecca" was very aggressive. I was craving sushi and I was looking forward to going to sushi man Hawaii because their sushi is always so good. Today was not the case. I came home and my tiger maki is supposed to have spicy ahi on top and I found this in my bag. The sushi has a little chunk of ahi and that's about it. They tried to put sauce on top to make it seem like it had something but just made it look slimy and unappetizing. I called and they said that they changed to ground ahi and it probably slid down to the sides and that's why it looks like it has nothing but my other sushi that had ahi on top looked absolutely fine. My family's go-to place for sushi platters - great price, great varieties, delicious sushi! Granted, Sushiman doesn't have a large dine-in area but it is a great place for to-go orders! Customer service is always on point here. Once I open the door, the cow bell on the door rings, and someone would immediately greet me. Even though sometimes the employee is not in the front, they would greet you and say will be right with you. There is platters to choose from for parties, handrails for on the go snack time or for your keikis, drinks and makis. I ordered the tiger Maki which consists of shrimp tempura, crab with mayo, rice and boring *of course with toppings- spicy ahi and Teri sauce. Ginger and Wasabi upon request.
