Very crispy and most and just enough garlic but not too much that you can ward off vampires. This easily their best. Fried rice is ok .. croquettes are very potatoey if that's a word. We are stoked to have stumbled across this gem while trying to find a quick meal to quell our hanger before a Costco run. Thanks to the other Yelpers for the photos of how to find the entrance! Upon entry, it is super clean and the layout is easy to follow. It was 1 p.m., so they did not have all offerings, but we grabbed the following bentos: - Hibachi Chicken 5/5 - Skin-on thighs with sooo much flavor and the perfect amount of char/smoke - Garlic Chicken 4.5/5 - The garllic amplified the seasoning in the batter - Fried Rice, Regular Breakfast 4.5/5 - The fried rice was next level, especially with the diced sausage. The egg with the scallions paired well with it. Eating in the car, we were surprised at how flavorful everything was. We were imagining having it fresh, which is on us, so we plan to get here earlier in the day. I've passed here so many times and saw the sign outside. It looked like a business office setting. Today, I decided to stop in and saw the closed door entrance. I went inside and it was a takeout bento place with lot's of bentos on the table. The gentleman behind the counter greeted me and gave me the run down of the restaurant. There were lots to choose from, so I asked him for his recommendation. He says their garlic chicken was good. But I wanted to try other items so I ordered the mix bento and noodles. Wow, to my surprise it was good. Everything was fresh and tasty. He was right, the garlic chicken was excellent. The noodles wasn't greasy and again, very flavorful. It was around 11:00am and I was the only one there. As I were leaving, people were walking in and the crowd begin to form. Wow...a hidden gem! Back again today because I always need to pick up the butter mochi--especially an end piece. The edge is my favorite part, so I never leave without it. I also grabbed a side saimin for myself and the deluxe bento with tempura for a friend. The saimin had a mild flavor--not much taste, but still good--and the portion was just right to fill me up without feeling heavy. Service is always great here and the staff is consistently friendly, which makes the quick stop even better. I love how easy it is to run in, grab what I need, and head out. Small menu but big flavors. I have always seen their sign when leaving Costco but never checked out Banzai Bento until I needed something quick to eat for my mom. I had zero time to stop off and get food on my way home. In a split second I followed their sign. Their shop is in an unmarked industrial-like building on the corner opposite Kaiser clinic and Hopaco. Street parking is extremely limited. There is room for 2 cars to park in the sloped driveway that leads to their shop. If there's no parking available, you could always park at Kaiser. It's a small operation with friendly and helpful staff, I could've stayed and talked story for days. The bentos were affordable and packed. It was a quick grab and go and Moms loved the bento! We went to a funeral at Mililani mortuary and after the service they had refreshments and at Mililani mortuary they only allow bento or individual wrapped food, it cannot be served out of open containers. They had 3-4 different kinds of bentos one had fried Saimin and hot dog, don't know what the others were. The bento was cold because it was sitting until the service was over, but the bento was good the teriyaki beef was tasty and the mandoo had a good flavor but soggy, as was the shrimp tempura. The chicken was tasty and good. I know if it was hot or just picked up it would all have been delicious, but now I know of another business to order bento from located in Waipahu. read more

If you're not careful, you might miss this hidden gem serving up some of the best grab-n-go bentos on the island. Keep an eye out for their big blue sign and then lookout for their parking lot with a few dedicated spots just for Banzai Bento. This area can get really hectic with traffic but don't let that deter you from checking out Banzai Bento in Waipio. It's a really tiny spot but they do offer a lot of bento boxes, including breakfast bentos. Open from 6 am - 2 pm and closed on the weekend, they definitely cater to a lot of the people who work in the area. We came in around 11 am and there were still plenty of options-- but I'm sure they have more options the earlier you get there. From fried saimin, beef bulgogi, garlic chicken, fish jun, and mandoo -- they have all the local favorites. What really wow'd me was the hibachi chicken-- so succulent and flavorful with that perfect amount of char. I'm not coming back here without getting a bento with the hibachi chicken in it! What really makes this a 5-star spot is the staff -- so sweet and helpful. A true local gem run by locals. read more

Located near Costco in Waipio which is super convenient. First time I had a bento which was for a fundraiser. The bento had a piece of spam, shrimp tempura, mandoo, garlic chicken, and fried noodles. All I can say is that everything was so delicious. The garlic chicken had lots of flavor and the fried noodles was tasty too. By that, I mean your various musubis, great selection of bento boxes, Banzai Pac, Fried Mandoo, "THE" Marlin Dip, etc. WHOOoooo!!! What a culinary haven. Takeout lunch from Waipio, Oahu, Hawaii... Every time I leave the parking lot of Costco in Waipio, I see the sign for "Fast & Ono Bentos". One day, I made it a point to follow the arrows! The signs to Banzai Bento are very helpful! I found the free parking lot next door and walked down the sidewalk and ramp to the entrance. I entered the door to the cozy shop where all types of bentos are ready to grab and go. Just take your selection to the friendly cashier and you're on your way! This truly is an efficient system and the food was really tasty! I got the Deluxe Bento which is like a famous "pac" from another establishment. It had takuan, spam, teri beef, fish, and Garlic Chicken (instead of fried chicken - LOL)! However, this Bento was MUCH better than the competitor's version because: 1. the teri beef was NOT rubbery. It was delicious and tender! 2. the fish was moist and fresh - NOT those frozen filets! If you want tartar sauce instead of spicy shoyu sauce, just ask for it! 3. the garlic chicken was flavorful and BONELESS! If you ever drove by costco waipio and saw this sign (Banzai Bentos) it would be worth it to stop and check them out. Located on the corner...if you pass costco waipio on your right... Banzai Bentos is on the corner of the very next block on the corner and they have a few parking stalls to the right in a warehouse area...once you pass the costco block turn right and take your first driveway on right.They are basically situated in the corner of a warehouse. Okay so once you find them its a showroom small area with alot of various bentos at very reasonable prices...The kitchen behind the showroom is huge so you know they also do catering. The "Banzai Pack", their answer to the subpar zip pack. Oops, did I just write that? Tasty garlic chicken, flavorful teri beef, well fried battered fish, Crispy fried Spam and a bought in deep fried gyoza. What's not to like? The "Bombucha Fry Saimin Bento", winnah. Same solid teri beef, garlic chicken deep fried mandoo and requisite red hotdog all on a bed of some of the best fried saimin on the island. Just the right amount of shoyu, black pepper, crispy spam and kamaboko and most importantly, cooked noodles (not starchy). The flavor begs the question, was this stir fried with bacon fat? Not excessively large. Prices in line. $16 and $14 respectively. Other combos available ranging from $11 - $14. Breakfast bentos also available before 9am. Grab and go. I had seen photos posted on Yelp. Loved that is was a short drive away. We purchased two bentos, one was a deluxe but both had half a hot dog, a mando, rice and chicken plus a few edamame. The deluxe added some Teri meatballs. Hubs also picked up a 3 pack inari( cone) sushi. My honest opinion? Would I buy from there again? I think I'd stick with a popular competitor at Pearl Kai for bentos and cone sushi from a take out next to Cvs Longs in Pearl City. read more

I never heard of this place until it was featured on Cheap Eats by Guy Hagi. The bentos looked good but what caught my attention was the Smoked Marlin Dip. I've been looking around a long time for this dip. A place I bought it from closed, another place has it when they can get the smoked fish and a supermarket sells it but it wasn't that good. I wanted to pick up the Banzai Pack that includes Garlic Chicken, Beef Bulgogi, Fish Jun, Spam, Fried Mandoo, Furikake Rice and Takuan for $16 but they were out. I ended up picking the Lunch Bento that included the Garlic Chicken, Fried Mandoo, 1/2 a Hot Dog, Furikake Rice and Edamame for $11. I had to pick up my Smoked Marlin Dip $10 for 1/2# that's located in the refrigerator. Next to it, they were also selling 1# Smoked Marlin Sticks for $10...yay! Had to buy this too! The garlic chicken in the bento had a lot of flavor. I loved the dip! There's a bite to it and was really good...just what I was looking for. I will definitely be back for this! As for the Marlin sticks, it was tasty but a little dry...I still liked it. The people there were really nice and helpful with the questions I had. This place is located one block past Costco Waipio's gas station going down Moaniani Street. It's at the right corner of Uke'e and Moaniani. They have only 2 parking spaces out front with a sign saying "2 MINUTE PARKING" guessing it's because all the bentos are grab and go along with the refrigerated items so you're out of there in no time. Support local! This is a small locally run shop near Costco Waipio serving freshly made bentos. Bentos are a mixture of rice and a variety of meats! This was our first time here and there were so many bentos out. They took the time to explain what was in each bento and the price points. Here's what we ended up getting: 1. Banzai Pack: literally had a little bit of everything. Garlic chicken, bulgogi, fried fish, spam, gyoza, and takuwan. This was a huge bento. At $16, that's not a bad deal! 2. Bombucha Fried Saimin: this had a very generous portion of fried noodles with garlic chicken, hot dog, gyoza, and a little bit of bulgogi. This was again, a huge bento. However, the noodles were very dry. It needed some sauce or something. I wouldn't get this again. 3. Smoked Marlin Dip: this is guava smoked so it was a good combo of sweet, spicy, and Smokey. I really liked this. It was a bit too sweet for my hubby's taste but it's so good with some crackers. If you love guava smoked flavor, you'll love this! I finally got a chance to visit after driving by this shop in Waipio so many times. It's street parking unless you want to take a short walk from the Costco. They open early and have a good choice of breakfast and lunch bentos. Price is $8-$16 per bento. Food was tasty and filling. Good variety of meats and sides. I have seen several people walking with their bento to the Costco parking lot. I thought it was because it would be hard to find street parking nearby. But there actually is parking in front (one space) and additional parking on the side of the building. And depending on the time you go it could be easy Peary finding a space. The counter people are friendly and helpful. They didn't have the one I wanted and they said if I waited 10 minutes they would cook one up for me. Service with a capital S. The food was fresh. Tasty. My family been super into this place since it opened and I figured since I came myself for once why not. It's smaller than I thought for a spot and is a little confusing to find but if you park in the back it's the room on the right. As for food starters the food is bomb and relatively cheap for the portions provided. Meat is super crispy, evenly ratioed and super tasty. For 13 bucks for a bento and a drink I can't complain. Was off to Waipio since it was my day off to get get my Lee's Breakfast fix but was heartbroken to see that they were closed a little after 9 this morning so I had to retool in the Costco Parking Lot and see what other Breakfast options there were nearby. And I just remembered there was a Bento Shop nearby and I was always curious to give it a try and this was the opportunity for me to give Banzai Bento a try and let's just say I didn't leave here disappointed. They are located just behind Costco Gas Station at the corner right across Kaiser Permanente. Parking can be a bit of a struggle but they have a parking space you can pull up into to grab a Bento and go as well. Banzai Bento is a very small place and there is no dive in at all. But I love the fact that they have lots of Bento's right at your disposal and the pickings are a plenty especially if you go early. Love the selection of Bento's here at Banzai Bento and I would say they are reasonably priced with prices ranging from $8 to $16. They even have other items like Smoked Marlin Dip and Bbq Marinades abd even Mochi. I also heard from a customer that their Cone Sushi's are super good when available. But what I really like about this place is the Aunty who was running the front. She was very nice and explained what type of Bentos were available. She was really sweet and customer service over the top. Those type of qualities make me wanna be a repeat customer and support their business. That shows you that they take great pride in what they serve. I had the Banzai Pack which came with Garlic Chicken,Bulgogi,Mandoo,Spam and Fish Jun on a Bee of Rice with Choke Furikake which I like. Itvmay look a little small for some of you but i was definitely satisfied. What really stood out for me on this Bento was the Fish Jun. To me it looked more like Fish Tempura but the Batter on the Fish Jin was light and flakey and the Fish very mild in flavor. I was shocked how delicious it was. For the $16 price tag it may sound steep in price but I think the price is fair for what you get. Overall I was very impressed and I am definitely coming back here to Banzai Bento. Good to know I have a Bento place I can go to especially on this side of the island. I only hope that they would open on the weekends as well but then again they are in an industrial area so I totally get it. Before i get to my food review...Banzai Bento...please open on the weekends! At least on Saturdays would be great! Banzai Bento is located on the corner of Uke'e St in Waipio Gentry across of the Kaiser Clinics, just after the Costco gas station. They specialize in take out bento's to go and they also have catering services. There is one parking stall in the front of the building and also lots of street parking. Food is very reasonably priced and is served fresh daily. If you can make it there early enough they serve breakfast bentos as well. During this trip i ordered a Banzai Pack which had an assortment of their food in one bento. Garlic chicken was crispy and flavorful and i really liked the flavor of their fish jun. The Beef bulgogi was sooo good and definitely cannot go wrong with a nice piece of fried spam on furikake rice. The staff there is really nice and you get a friendly vibe as soon as you walk in. They helped explain the menu and answered any questions we had. This place is strictly a take out place as theres no indoor seating. When you enter they have a counter thats lined up with all their bentos. This makes it quick and easy to grab your food and pay at the register. Their hours are M-F from 6am till 2pm. I really wish Banzai Bento was open on the weekend because this would be the perfect place to pick up a bento for a day at the beach, or for those times when you just need to get a quick bite to eat. Seen this place all over social media so we decided to come by one morning. It was already passed 9am so the menu kind of changes. Anyway, my Husband decided to try the lunch bento which had an entree which was garlic chicken, furikake rice, half of a hot dog, edamame, and fried mandoo while I had the deluxe bento which was a two entree of beef bulgogi and fish jun. The fish jun was good too. The batter had taste to it and the fish wasn't "fishy." I don't normally like beef bulgogi but decided to give it a try. Surprisingly, I liked it because it was overwhelmingly sweet. That was the first time we went. The 2nd time we went, I had the spicy garlic chicken and my Husband had the garlic chicken, egg, spam and rice. Again, everything was just like the first. They are a three person assembly line so be patient if there isn't much bentos out. You can tell that they try their best to keep up with the demand. We was told by one or the workers that people get there at 630am to buy multiple bentos so when you get there later than that, everything is wiped out. I've been wanting to try Banzai Bento for a while, especially after watching them on cheap eats. The first time I went there it was close to lunch and they were pretty much wiped out. The second time I went there closer to 11:00 and they were pretty low on inventory. I decided on a cheap fried noodle bento for about $8. It was OK, but the noodles were a little salty, but I enjoyed it. I think the next time I will go even earlier and maybe pick up a breakfast bento. The selection seems to be pretty good and I love eating bentos so I will definitely be back and support another local small business. read more

Bentos look ono! Very friendly local staff. They are takeout only. I got the Deluxe Bento consisting of Beef Bulgogi, Hibachi Chicken, Hot Dog, Fried Mandoo, Edamame and Furikake Rice. I originally thought the meat was just Teri Beef but after eating it and tasting the spicy kick, I realized it was Korean style Bulgogi Beef. It was very flavorful with good spiciness. The Hibachi Chicken was tender and tasted ok but it could use a tad more seasoning. The mandoo, 1/4 hotdog and edamame tasted as expected. Furikake on the rice was a nice touch but I really couldn't taste that much Furikake. I discovered there was a tiny bit of caramelized onions in the bento that was very good. Wish there was more of it. Tips: go early before 10:00am for best selection because many items sell out fast. They're also closed at 2pm M-F and they're closed on weekends.
