I've always wanted to try this place because I love Taiwanese food. But maybe because I had such high expectations, I was pretty disappointed with everything. First, the price was pretty high compared to the amount of food they served and the flavor of their menu. The pork rice bowl had way too much rice compared to the pork, and I think I only had half of the rice to eat with the pork on top. All the foods we ordered wasn't very flavorful either and they charged 3% for credit cards. The economy is tough right now so that may explain the card charge and the portion size but I don't think I'll be going to this place again. It was good to try but wasn't impressionable!
Food is AMAZING. This has got to be the best Taiwanese spot on island. First off, the decor of the place is beautiful and I love how you can spot all the different lanterns, tea leaves and dragon art designs right when you walk in. It isn't just a food experience, but it feels like you are being transported to another world. The food is extremely delicious and well seasoned and flavored. Staff is also nice as well. And there are plenty of seating. One complaint I would have is the portions are a little bit small, but not too bad. I was pleasantly surprised that their pork chops were not too dry, it had the perfect crunch to flavor moist ratio!
Always love coming to this place for a quick and simple meal. Their soups are delicious and quite filling for the price. Service is quick and inside is nice. There is plenty of parking surrounding the area in the Pearl Kai shopping plaza. Usually order their classic beef noodle soup and can't go wrong with it.
He said it and they listened. Back in 2020, Elite Yelper Rod U. shared his valuable opinion on the food and pricing at this establishment. As any good manager would, they took his review and made improvements. For shareable starters, we ordered three appetizers. Their Boom Boom Chicken is excellent! Generous portion, great crunch on the outside, tender and tasty on the inside, and seasoned with that signature Taiwanese flavor. We finished every delicious morsel. Then we shared the Mala Wonton. If you like heat, this has a chili kick to it. Generous portion of dumplings topped with a spicy chili sauce, green onions, and sesame seeds. I normally don't eat spicy but glad to try this one. The most favorite dish at the table, enjoyed by everyone, was their fried fish filet. Again, another generous portion of something shareable. But after you tasted this fish, you might not want to share. Order this up for yourself! A few days after our delicious dining experience, our dinner guest said, "I feel like ordering a bunch of that fried fish from Fooki. That taste was incredible!" He also had the ox rib soup which had meaty portions of tender beef ribs. The broth was excellent and they served this with a side of rice and grated ginger dipping sauce. I had the mushroom noodle soup. When I requested this, our server made sure to tell me that it was beef broth in case I was a strict vegan. Oh this was a nice warm bowl of yummy comfort. Generous tender noodles with a nice balance of mushrooms and baby bok choy. Glad I tried it! Last but not least, we had the Trio Cup Chicken. This was full of flavor and easily feeds two people. Tender chicken bites seasoned in sweet soy glaze, garlic, and basil. Will totally come back to have more. Thank you everyone at Fooki. We enjoyed our meal and wonderful customer service. You will see us again, as we really enjoyed the tasty food, especially your fried fish filet!
Fooki our favorite Taiwanese restaurant . We brought some out of town guests to have lunch. They loved it . Service was great. We ordered the MaLa Wontons and the Grand Pa Beef Rolls for appetizers. They were delicious. For entrees we tried the Classic Wonton bowl, the Classic Beef bowl, the Monster Pork Chops, the 3 Cup Chicken, and Fooki Pork Belly bowl. All were perfectly prepared and delicious. But the Pork Chops were exceptional. Crispy outside but tender and moist inside. The rice that accompanied it was equally tasty and delicious. Nicely decorated dining room. Highly recommend
Our daughter is a picky eater and loves Asian food. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. They opened at 11am. We came here for lunch. Decor is a bit outdated. The staff all spoke English and Mandarin. We ordered 3 items shrimp, pork and chives dumplings - plump and you can tell they are very much homemade. Came with a housemade dipping sauce. I thought this was just okay. Popcorn chicken - Comes with a lot and well done. Our daughter loved it and ate half of the chicken. Stir fried veggies - This was very good although also a bit homey. Something my parents would make at home. Service was fine. They did give my toddler utensils/bowl/plate. Surcharge for credit card so we paid in cash. I did feel this place was a bit costly. $16 for the veggies and $22 for the dumplings.
I picked up the Minced Pork Noodles for lunch during the week. The texture of the noodles were great for getting this as take out, but the overall dish was a little bland for my liking. The portion was great and the right amount for me for lunch. I liked the Mala Wonton Noodles from the last time I went, but it was too spicy so I just got a side of Mala sauce to add to my dish. This restaurant is located in Pearl Kai Shopping Center so there is a lot of available parking. Overall Fooki is a great spot for lunch or dinner and will definitely go back.
It's a very casual Taiwanese restaurant. My good friend took me to this restaurant, and I really liked the beef scallion noodles. It didn't have soup, but it wasn't dry either. But it was tasty!! I ordered the Cow Wow Braised Noodles because I was told that it's going to be spicy. I paid $2 extra, but it wasn't spicy at all. But it was still okay--not my favorite. The grandpa beef roll though, it was so delicious! Sweet and savory at the same time. I personally did not like the cold ginger chicken since I like eating chicken warm lol. The server was attentive.

We got the Boom Boom Chicken, rolling something (refer to picture), Monster Pork Chop, Mala Wonton Noodles, Li Hing Mui Sweet Potato Fries (these were so good, I don't know how they cooked it but the crunchiness and texture were amazing), two desserts and I remember getting a scallion pancake (just didn't take a pic). We were all full and we had left over food as well. Atmosphere - Chill vibes, good lighting (helped with the pictures), at least 5 tables. We went on a rainy day and in the middle of the week so it wasn't too busy which was nice so we didn't have to wait. Service - Friendly! I don't know if it was the manager or whoever but the guy that was helping us was so nice. He answered the questions we had, said hi to the baby and was kind. Cost - To be honest, I don't recall the overall cost but the range of each dish was $14 - $25 depending on whether it's an appetizer or main dish. Parking - It's in a plaza with other businesses so there's plenty of park right in front of the restaurant and around it. Location - Aiea, in a plaza off of Kamehameha highway. I would definitely come here to eat again! I want to try their other dishes and get some of the same things again :).
Fooki is a cute little Taiwanese restaurant located in Aiea. I had actually never heard of this restaurant, but a good friend of mine recommended it so we made reservations for dinner. We ordered the Li Hing sweet potato fries, Fooki bao, monster pork chops, and boom boom chicken. Everything was delicious! Service was excellent. This restaurant had a very small family like feel. It felt very welcoming. Not sure if it's family run or not. Definitely want to come back and try some other options on the menu.
It's been awhile since we last had lunch here. A new owner and expanded menu... still great Taiwanese noodle soup. Service is excellent and our server was very friendly, even explaining the Mandarin meaning of Fooki, since we asked. It's very chill and casual. Like many small noodle shops in Taipei, it has an industrial feel to the ambience... which is cool. Highly recommend Fooki for noodles... so Onolicious!
I came here for lunch with a small group and out of town guests and everyone enjoyed their food. It was delicious! Fooki is located at Pearl Kai shopping center across pearlridge and lots of free parking. Our group of 6 walked in without a reservation for lunch. Some of the things that we ordered was the li hing mui sweet potato fries, braised beef noodle soup and the trio cup chicken. Everything was so good. The braised beef noodle soup was delicious and the beef was nice and tender. Service was great, the guy helping us was super helpful for the menu and what to order that fitted what we wanted to eat. I'm looking forward to trying more dishes and trying their special teas and coffees next time.
It was KISMET we ended up here! This was hands down one of the best Taiwanese restaurants I have ever been to! My family was in the area to shop over at Crafts Way and I found Fooki on Yelp as a nearby food option. It had something for everyone in our group of seven: 2 vegetarians, 1 vegan and 4 meat eaters. The restaurant had a divy vibe, cozy and welcoming. The service was very friendly and the server was incredibly knowledgable about their menu and how what made some of their dishes stand out from what's expected. The Li Hing Mui Sweet Potato Fries are a must! They totally reminded me of my childhood and the kind of fries I'd get at the amusement park back in Taiwan. Here's everything we ordered. Every single item was a hit! -stewed egg -stewed tofu -Majiang noodles -Lu Rou Fan -Grandpa Rolling Beef -Scallion Pancake -Fooki Bao -Tofu Bao -Li Hing Mui Sweet Potato Fries -Veggie Scallion Noodles -Fooki Bowl -BoomBoom Chicken If we ever find ourselves back in Aiea again, we will be stopping in! read more
Famiily night and everyone wanted to go out. After debating between sushi, ramen, or curry - we settled on Taiwanese noodles/beef. We have been here several times before and this time we brought the whole gang. Although it was a Friday night, we came earlier than normal and were able to be seated immediately. All the tables were taken, but it wasn't too loud or crazy. Our service was great. I chose their Classic Beef Noodles which were great! The beef broth was flavorful. The beef slice was tender. The noodles were cooked well. Honestly, it was great. The portions could be a little better. So, from a cost-to-value perspective, that could be better. All in all, it was great. read more

We came here for dinner on a Friday night, and it was exactly the kind of comforting meal we were craving--especially on a cold, rainy evening! We started with the grandpa rolling beef as our appetizer then ordered the wonton noodle soup and Taiwanese pork rice bowl. The beef roll pancake was crispy and flavorful, and I loved the fresh vegetables inside, which added a nice contrast to the crunchy exterior. The wonton soup was delicious, with tasty wontons and a rich, comforting broth. The pork bowl was moist, flavorful and filling. The restaurant wasn't too busy when we visited, so the service was quick and attentive. Everyone was friendly, and our food came out promptly. We really enjoyed our dinner here! Decided to try this little spot. My husband's words "I think I found my new favorite spot" the inside is decorated with lanterns and other cute decor. The staff are really friendly and give recommendations when asked. Everything we tried was delicious and we will definitely be going back. read more

With this rainy weather we have been having there beef noodle soup was calling me. Ambiance: Very cutely decorated with lanterns all over. It wasn't over loud and you could actually speak with the person you are there with. Service: Excellent- the servers where attentive and our food came out quick Food: Grandpa rolling beef - 10 out of 10. Crispy pancake outside, moist beef and refreshing cucumbers inside Scallion Pancakes- I've had it here before and this time it was a miss for us. It wasn't very scallion forward. Still crispy and a the perfect pancake texture. Classic braised beef noddle- 10 out of 10. The soup was tasty and had just a touch of heat. Not overwhelming at all. The noodles had the perfect QQ texture. The meat was perfectly tender. It was still delicious when we had the leftovers the next day. Definitely a go to spot for me. read more
This place was in my Yelp Bookmarks for a long time but never got a chance to try it out. When friends chose this place for our quarterly get together, I was all for it! Before our luncheon, I did my research on Yelp to see what fellow yelpers recommended. I had a long list and discussed it with everyone. We decided to share family style so we all could taste a little of each. Here's what we ordered: 1. Grandpa Rolling Beef $15: Its braised shanks, cucumber and cabbage rolled in a scallion pancake, topped with sake hoisin sauce and sesame seeds. We thought it was good but not something we would order again. 2. Boom Boom Chicken A la carte $16: It's fried chicken with basil and comes with a special sauce. I read about how the sauce was awesome so maybe my expectations were high. This was good but it's another dish we would pass. 3. Garlic Stir Fry Veggies $15: When my friends wanted to order this, I thought "Yikes, cooked vegetables with no meat?!". This dish included stir fry Shanghai bok choy, cabbage, cucumber, shimeji mushroom, fried tofu and garlic. OMG! This was sooooooo yummy! We all raved about how tasty it was and we would DEFINITELY order this again! I'm glad they ordered it! 4. Fooki Bao $8 each: This is braised thick cut pork belly, pickled mustard, crushed sweet peanuts, cilantro, sesame seed in a steamed bun. I first thought it was pricey...$8 for 1 thinking the bun would be the size of the ones you get when you order duck at a Chinese restaurant...this one looked like double the size and the pork belly piece was big, thick and very tasty! They have this item priced as $8 for 1 OR 3 for $24 but it still comes out to $8 each so you don't get a cheaper price for buying more. A friend and I ordered this as a takeout for our husband so they could try it. Asked our server, Todd if we warmed it up in the microwave, would the bun still be soft...he didn't think so. We took our chances (that's how much we liked it), warmed it up and the bun was still soft and the pork was oh-so-good...yay! 5. Monster Pork Chops A la carte $16: Another friend ordered this as a takeout for her husband. He thought it was good but would've been better if it was eaten there because it wasn't crispy. They would order this again. Our server, Todd was so nice and helpful describing the dishes we were thinking of ordering. He even let us try the dessert "Vintage Tofu pudding" that includes tofu pudding, peanuts and boba. We thought it was good and refreshing but didn't care for the super soft peanuts. We did suggest that if they added the peanuts when it's served, it would be crunchy...forgot what his answer was but we thought crunchy peanuts would've been better. We all said we would like to come back and order our own noodle or rice dish. I would also like to bring my family here...I know they'd love it! They accept credit cards but charges a transaction fee of 3%. They also have a service charge for large parties: - Party of 6 to 9: 20% - Party of 10 or more: 22% This place isn't that big so it's best to make reservations. They're located in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center next door to Queens Urgent Care. Lots of free parking and pretty easy to find an empty space because not many businesses on this side. read more
My boyfriend and I came for dinner and we were seated immediately. We ordered the Beef Scallion Noodles, Lu Rou Fan and an a la carte order of the Boom Boom Chicken. Beef scallion noodles: The noodle texture was perfect, not over or undercooked. The beef was soft and tender and while it looks like the sauce is thin, it packs a lot of flavor and it coats the noodles well. I like a little heat to my dish so I asked our waiter for a side of their hot sauce and it was a perfect match. Lu Rou Fan: My boyfriend loved this dish. Although we wish the portion was a little bigger, it was packed with so much flavor. The meat was tender and the sauce was so good with the rice. I wish they gave us a full eg rather than just half an egg. Boom Boom Chicken: I love Taiwanese fried chicken and this was no exception. The chicken was crispy and well seasoned. I haven't eaten a lot of Taiwanese food so I can't speak to how authentic the food is. The rating is based on my personal food preference. Had the COW WOW Noodle Soup (braised) and a Thai tea with boba. Husband got the Boom Boom chicken and Lychee Taiwan beer. We also got the Mala Wonton to share. The cow wow noodle soup was ok. The broth was nice and clean and the meat was flavorful, especially the meat on the bone. The collagen bits weren't too chewy and I was happy to eat them all (youthful skin!!) Our server said it would be a little spicy but I didn't taste any heat at all. There was a lot of flavor and other spices coming through but not chili hot. The Mala Wontons weren't spicy at all either, which was disappointing. Husband said chicken was nice and crispy but got too salty towards the end. Portions were large but prices were also kind of high. It was nice to try for something different but we won't be back. A quick shout out to the staff though, service was impeccable! read more
My wife and I past this place Alllllllllllllllll the time, after my appointment this morning she suggested this place and we love love love trying new spots and boy are we glad we stopped in! We got the boom boom chicken, wife got the beef noodle bowl and I got the pork belly bowl. Also tried the cheese cold brew and wife had the strawberry sparkling type drink and said she liked it and would get it again! Service was amazing, quick and super friendly. Nice quiet spot and we will definitely be back! read more

Smaller restaurant specializing in Taiwanese food. Been here twice now and both times food has been great! Service has been good- generally checked on just enough and food comes out in a timely manner. We got there around 6pm on a Thursday and got seated as soon as we walked in. This most recent visit we had some boba and started with the rolling beef. For entrees we had braised beef noodle soup and minced pork noodle. Both dishes were very flavorful! Dishes are generally meant to be eaten family style but it also doesn't need to be. Lots of parking around in the shopping/food complex, just shared with a lot of business. Overall both visits were good but food and can be a little pricy for what you get. Either way I'd be back if I'm craving Taiwanese food. read more

Don't know what took us so long to come here, I rave about Egghead Cafes Porky Baos & always say the wait and drive is worth going to. I knew that they were sister companies but never tried Fooki until we went on a whim with family -- Gone are the days I have to order an hour or two ahead for pork baos. Their take out is 90% faster than Egghead Cafe's. Plus this is location is more local to me which is a huge plus. The service is great, I went four times in a course of two weeks. So pleased to find a place that has Sesame Noodles, it's was quite delicious. I just wish that it was the squiggly Knife cut noodles for an extra chewy ness. They have a decent amount of seating for the area that they are in. They have a wide selection of desserts, drinks (smoothies, milkshakes, milk teas) but I never had enough room for dessert. read more

This was my second visit so I made sure to order something different ... not the pork chop. :p We ordered the Braised Mushroom Noodle soup, Classic Braised Beef Noodle soup, and the Braised Wonton Noodle soup. What does braised mean? There's a red pepper next to it so there is supposed to be more spice. Mine wasn't, but I liked it. A co-worker asked for chili oil, which he said made his wonton dish "perfect". As before, there was scant conversation, just the sounds of slurping. I enjoyed my braised mushroom noodle soup and would order it again, but would ask for egg noodles as the noodles that came with my dish were a little too thick. Came here to have dinner with friends before we left back to the mainland. We made reservations for 6 at 6pm. We were seated quickly servers were very nice and attentive. We started with a couple appetizers Taiwanese sausages, grandpa beef roll and the Fooki potstickers they were very delicious and plenty of for 6 people. I ordered the cowow braised which had tendon, sliced beef, beef rib, bok choy and noodles. This was very flavorful and hit the spot forgot it also had a marinated egg. My wife ordered the fooki pork belly forgot to take a picture that was so flavorful and delicious as well. I ordered the iced Vietnamese coffee and that was great as well. We shared 2 honey toast for dessert and omg the ice cream and the toast was very very good. Ambience was great and inviting. read more

Came here with some coworkers and we love to order a bunch of dishes to share. My favorite had to be the fooki bao which had braised pork belly and veggies inside of a bao bun. The bun was soft & pillowy while the pork was melt in your mouth. The veggies added the perfect crunch. Everything we ordered was delicious though so you can't go wrong. The servers were all very kind and attentive. They have a good amount of tables but they do take reservations which I would recommend if you're coming with a group. Came here for dinner and tried their beef roll, beef noodle soup and the dry noodles. The beef roll was so so good. I loved it so much. It has veggies and beef wrapped in a crepe like skin with sweet sauce drizzled on top. The beef noodle soup was delicious. The noodles tasted very fresh. The dry noodles were okay. Overdue review. The decor was like gastropub style like the restaurants you see in downtown - very vibey. Service was quick and very easy to flag someone down. Most of our group ordered the popular dishes like the grandpa rolling beef, pork belly, and chubby ribs. Portions size were good for each serving but the ribs were huge - like they were ripped off a dinosaur! I felt like some of the dishes we got weren't as temp hot as I liked it to be but it was still good regardless. I think the star of the show is their smoothies/boba drinks! I didn't get one because I thought it would make me full but I wish I did! I tried my sisters and moms one (forgot what they got) and honestly they tasted better than some boba shops in general. Highly suggest ordering one with your meal. There were SO MANY things I wanted to try. They have such of variety of entrees from soups, pork, chicken, beef, noodles, rice, baos - very hard to pick just one! Will def be back. read more

Been here twice now and absolutely love it! I ate the ox tail and the flavors were delicious! Reasonably priced considering pho/oxtail soups are now around $25+ However, the dumplings were amazing and I have been craving them ever since. Husband had the cow wow soup and he enjoyed it. It's a great little atmosphere for a date night or a quick cozy rainy day spot! Plenty of parking, and easy to find! Looking forward to coming back! read more

I went to Fooki for lunch with a friend and loved everything we ordered! We had the Lu Rou Fan, Shrimp Pork Dumplings, and Mala Chicken, all were delicious and perfectly balanced between sweet, savory, and spicy. The food came out surprisingly fast and was fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The restaurant has a cute, cozy ambiance with a nice modern touch. The staff were attentive, kind, and checked in just the right amount. Prices were reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to, especially for the dumplings and Mala Chicken! read more

My first time dining here and it won't be the last. The restaurant is very cozy and the service was great. The food was so delicious and enjoyable. My fooki belly bowl and fooki bao were perfect. There was a lot of fat on the pork belly but that's how I like it. The portions are generous. To top it off, my fooki belly bowl was only $18.00 and the fooki bao only $8.00. I was stuffed. You definitely get great food at a reasonable price. Their dessert options also looked good but I'll try it next time. I highly recommend this place!! read more

After years of driving past Fooki, we finally decided to give them a try. From the moment we walked in, the experience was great. The staff was warm and accommodating, making us feel right at home. The interior had a trendy yet cozy vibe, perfect for a casual hangout with drinks or a full on feast. The menu was packed with enticing options, many of which were right up my alley. If only my stomach had unlimited capacity! Unfortunately, I had to make some tough choices, but every dish we tried was a hit. What We Ordered: A-MA Rolling Veggies - Absolutely loved this! As a veggie lover, this dish checked all the boxes: hearty, well-balanced, and packed with flavor. The plump, perfectly cooked shimeji mushrooms added a satisfying umami depth, while the cucumbers provided a refreshing crunch, all wrapped in a soft yet crispy scallion pancake. You'd almost forget it was vegetarian! Boom Boom Chicken - A standout dish. The chicken was crispy and perfectly seasoned, with fried basil adding a fragrant crunch. Paired with their spicy mayo dipping sauce, each bite was an explosion of flavor. I'd say this is a must try. Cow Wow Beef Noodle (Original) - This dish had a bold yet soothing broth, with flavors reminiscent of pho, but with its own unique twist. The deep, rich broth had subtle mushroom undertones and was topped with fresh cilantro for an aromatic finish. My wife, who is usually sensitive to cilantro in hot broth, still found this enjoyable. The noodles were lovely, like a thinner version of udon. One thing we both agreed on tho, was the beef could have been a bit more tender. Fooki Belly Bowl - My son gave this a solid 5 stars haha! The pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a beautiful balance of five-spice, soy, and a touch of sweetness. It was on the fatty side, as expected, but if you're a pork belly fan, this dish is a must try. There are still so many items on the menu we're eager to try, and we'll definitely be back to do so. We were there today (5/10/22) a little before 5 PM - door was chain locked from the outside, but the restaurant's neon sign said OPEN. Peeked inside and no one. No servers, no customers. Are you guys still in business?
That's odd- they are closed on Mondays but should be open 430p.
Do they have food with peanuts, or are aware for people with food allergies?
You can call them but as far as we know, it is not like Thai or Vietnamese where they commonly use peanuts.…
