Here's my TL;DR review: Parking: Free parking right in front of the restaurant. Service: Great, no issues. Food only took 10 minutes to prepare. I got the spicy ahi poke nachos and they had many sizes to choose from. Cleanliness: They could really improve on this one. There were spider webs all over the windows, huge spiders nested in every corner. The spider webs went all the way down to the table. I looked under the table and it was even worse. Overall, this made me nervous about the cleanliness of the kitchen. The spicy ahi poke nachos was great. It tasted fresh and I didn't have complaints. The prices are reasonable. I'm all about supporting local but if I come back next time I'll just do takeout. Plus there's better options nearby for poke nachos like Poke on Da Run. read more

Damo Sushi is located on Kam highway in a little strip mall next to Longs. I used the directions on yelp and it took me to the back side of the mall, where HMart is. The parking lots are connected though, so you can just drive around DOnki if you find yourself in the back. It's a pretty small restaurant, only a few tables, most of which were occupied when I went in the early afternoon. The girl at the cash register took my order (garlic salmon roll) and I paid with credit card. She informed me it would take 15-20 minutes because there were other orders ahead of mine. I liked that the roll came with salad, but it was a little on the small side. I think I prefer Makoto Sushi even though it's a little more expensive. The garlic salmon was just ok. I think if I were to come back, I would try the spicy ahi nachos. I like that they offer different sizes and different types of poke. read more

I first came to Damo since my friend worked here and this was the first place I ever tried poke nachos. When Daiso opened up I've been coming to this shopping center a lot more often and no brainer to choose to eat here. At first, I would get only the poke nachos and not even pay attention to the rolls. Now, that I've tried more from the menu, I've definitely been missing out all this time! First off, this is one of the only places in the shopping center with tables to sit and eat in A/C. Next, along with the poke nachos all the food I've tried hits the spot. I know prices in Hawaii are skyrocketing but you gotta admit, these sets are pretty fair for what you pay. Don't let the menu fool you! When you buy a roll it comes with miso soup and small side salad for under $15, and don't forget, you're supporting local! Sometimes for variety I like to order their spicy ahi won tons or shumai on the side, and I always have leftovers. The service here also fast and convenient. You can call ahead so your order is ready when you arrive, but if you walk-in you only have to wait 5 maybe 10 minutes depending on how many people are in front of you. Even when it's peak lunch time I don't even feel like I'm waiting long. Whenever I'm in the area, I always get a craving to come here and get my sushi fix and you should too! read more

Sunday July 2, 2023 First time, coming here as Poke on the Run down the street is closed on Sunday. I hate to give a low star rating. But, I like to give a honest review. Miso Poke Nachos: $18.95!! Fish was gritty texture and stringy! Gritty texture from being frozen too long and not being FRESH! ! Very stringy as I picked up a piece of fish and 2 pieces of fish was hanging from the sugi string. I should've taken a picture as that was the first time I ever saw that in my life! No miso taste at all. Chips was soggy as I tried one as I was walking out the front door. Bonito shavings didn't make it any better and it just made the price higher. Shoyu Ahi Poke Bowl: A very little amount of fish and so much more rice than fish! Lol. Spicy Ahi Tempura: Was okay. Plus, was that it came with a miso soup. I am so very sorry, that we won't be trying this place again. It doesn't have to be auction fresh from sea to table. But, the fish should be of at least decent quality. read more

Stopped by to get sushi for dinner. While not totally bad, not the best either. Everyone got sushi, but I opted for a salad which was underwhelming. I did not like the ends of the romaine bunches that were included (sorry tossed out). The salad was topped with a spoonful of spicy ahi poke & mayo imitation crab, 3 whole baby carrots, 2 halves of a mini bell pepper, 3 grape tomatoes. It did included 2 slices each of ahi & salmon sashimi. I opted to save my fish to eat with rice tomorrow. I did enjoy the miso dressing. I was told the sushi all tasted very similar. Don't come hungry because the rolls were more like 1/2 rolls. The sushi did come with (just) romaine salad & a cup of miso soup. Also the unagi bowl (see white styrofoam in pics) was less than 1/2 full of lightly "packed" rice so don't count on the sample portion sizes displayed. read more

We placed our order through Grubhub, our first time. Gotta say, it came a little earlier than the time stated. But that's another review for Grubhub, great! We ordered a variety of different items. We had Spicy Ahi Poke, Unagi-Don, Garlic Salmon Roll, Jins Roll, and Dragon Roll. This is a very easy review because everything was top notch tasty and well prepared. I was really impressed and happy. Now we have a new to go to place around the area. Taste quality is excellent! But be prepared if you're hungry the portions are a bit on the smaller side. read more

First time trying this place. It was very small inside, not much seating to dine in. The prices were a little high, but the quality of fish was good. We got our food pretty fast. We tried the spicy ahi poke bowl, a natto hand roll and the hawaii set. The fish was fresh and delicious. The natto hand roll had cucumber inside and it complimented the natto very well. I love Damo Sushi! Me and my coworker always visit here to pick up lunch during work. It's such a convenient place and easy to locate, right next to Long's and Sadie's BBQ. I really enjoy getting their Spicy Ahi poke nachos. If i'm not really in the mood to eat rice or have a heavy meal, their Poke Nachos are always my go-to. They are really generous with their portions and the uncle working the front is always so nice and welcoming! They put yummy toppings on the poke nachos too. The guy at the cash register was eating a pint of ice cream. No joke...just munching away. He didn't even greet me. Finally he put it down on the counter and told me to order when I was ready. Haven't been here in a while so I wanted to try it again. Seems prices have skyrocketed since I last came. I got the Aloha Set which was mostly spicy tuna and imitation crab variations at $18.95 for 8 pieces. Pre-covid it was only $12.95. You lost a customer over something that would have taken a minute to communicate. Only reason I didn't cancel was because the driver would have wasted his time. Omg I am so glad my hubby found this spot! The sushi is soooo yummy and FRESH!! I love that they give Romaine with every roll. And don't even get me started on their poke (I'm drooling just thinking about it and I'm so stuffed) it is by the far the BEST poke I've ever had, just melts in your mouth! And the service is very friendly, warm and lots of aloha. They definitely show their love and aloha through every roll! Very quick service! It's such a cute little spot! Haven't been here in awhile and when I walked in I was pleasantly surprised they have the cutest sitting area. Super cozy and clean atmosphere. Comfy chairs. Honestly didnt feel like I was in pearl city shopping center lol. As for the food sushi wise it's what I remember. I also tried a few side which was okay but I'll stick to the sushi. I didnt really like the texture of the filling in the spicy ahi wonton. The soft shell crab tempura batter was also too thick for my personal preference but I enjoyed the spicy ahi nachos and unagi special. One of the best ahi nachos we had in a while. Mom did takeout yesterday evening. She ordered a party platter and it was reasonably priced and she said it looked nice and tasted like average sushi platter. Unfortunately deducting a star based on payment system. She paid by credit and when it went to the "leave a tip" screen, there was no option to skip (no option for 0% or $0 either), meaning it forced her to leave a tip when all she did was pick up a platter. Forcing people to tip is very tacky in my opinion. We actually tip when we do take out on occasion when we feel we have received above the top extra service or the restaurant seem busy or especially during Covid, but I do not like to feel forced. I did explain to my mom that next time there may be a button that says "custom" where you can enter $0.00 or $0.01 so if you get stuck and they are forcing you to tip, try look for a custom button, I have seen that at other restaurants. read more

I was at Pearl City Shopping Center and wanted to eat something fast. As I walked around this very homely shopping center I came across Damo Sushi. I thought yes...I can enjoy a spam musubi. My favorite quick not to big lunch. I have been to Pearl City Shopping Center many times, but never noticed Damo Sushi. I went in and was pleasantly surprised. There was a sort of Opera type music playing and the decor felt like I was in Paris with a Japanese twist. It was really cute and relaxing. The menu is simple, but well thought out. They serve poke bowls with many options and a variety of local sushi favorites. Everything was super clean with lots of space for social distancing. As I waited for my spam and tempura roll which didn't take to long and were delicious more customers began showing up and each ordered Poke bowls so I think next time I will definitely try the poke bowl. I appreciate a good sushi like many who live in Hawaii and Damo Sushi is definitely a keeper.... read more

This is located right next to Sadies in Pearl City right on Kamehameha HWY. It is in the same shopping center as Leeward Bowl. There is plenty of parking. It is in a good location and was pretty empty (they only have about 4 tables). The set up inside was very cute and comfortable. I was pretty disappointed in this place. I did not read the reviews before hand, but I've seen the restaurant when passing by. So I thought why not give it a try! Well, I am no sushi expert, but both the ahi poke bowls (different flavors) that my husband and I ordered were very mushy and seemed old. Not the mushy kine that melt in da mouth. The quality was not good. I never experienced sushi that had such a gooey/mushy texture. It had a lot of sauce and flavor, but that is about the only thing it had going for it... They do have a lot of options here and different rolls. They might be better than just getting ahi poke with rice.. Probably will try a different place next time I am in the area and craving sushi. read more

Ive only eaten Sushi from Damo about three times in my life. The first time I've ordered through Delivery. The sushi rolls were so yummy, i forgot what I had ordered but it was a pleasant experience the first time. The second time was a takeout order, they took a very long time to prepare two orders of sushi rolls. The third time, i went inside and there was nobody there but my boyfriend and i. We waited a good while for one of the ladies to come up to the front and take our order. Right after she took our order she went to the back like she took 3 steps behind her and started talking to the other two girls whispering right in front of us and I can see them clearly. I am just staring right at them because they have not given me a chance to walk away from the register and get myself situated for the wait I had to endure. She just left so quickly, turned around and started whispering. Not sure what it was about it. It just seemed so unprofessional. Their "talk" went on for so long. Several minutes later, I can slightly see that they're now making my rolls of sushi, finally. My boyfriend left because it was taking too long and he went to get us drinks at Longs Drugs. Came back with the drinks and I was still waiting. It has already been about 25 minutes until it was done. Not sure how long it makes to make rolls of sushi, but i'm sure it would've taken less time if the employees actually did their job and not whisper or "gossip" right in front of me. It's sad because they have very delicious tasting sushi and I would totally come here more often but there's just a big lack of customer service. read more

To the right there's a nice intimate dining area seating for 6 to 8. Soft jazz music in the background. It was very relaxing while I waited for my order. This sushi spot has such cute decor! It felt like a little cafe. The seats are nice and plush. I wanted to take more pictures of the decor but the lighting was bad. Sushi is average but I love that I can stop in for cucumber/ume rolls and daikon rolls when I'm trying to be good on diet for my drs appt. lol Now this is what healthy fast food should taste like. My wife and I was shopping at the center and decided to have dinner and came across Damo Sushi. What caught my eye was the poke bowls that was on the menu so we decided to try them. They also have a pretty good variety on the menu. We ordered the spicy ahi bowls and the BLT sushi rolls. It was ono (delicious) one of the best poke I've tasted. The BLT sushi rolls really topped it off too. We met with the owner's who told us that they had just taken over the business. This place's sushi is overpriced for the portion you get but believe it or not, I tend to go back. I come back because I do like their poke nachos, the salad dressing they use, the spicy tiger roll, and the spicy ahi wontons. But I believe this where I'm gonna stop going because I in my spicy ahi wonton, I found, a piece of hair and it's disturbingly long. It wasn't just stuck on the sauce of the wonton but maybe cooked into the wonton because when I tried to take it out, it was kind of hard for me to pull it out and it looked longer when I took out the whole strand! They have females workers that don't wear hair nets but instead their hairs tied back but I honestly believe this piece of hair is from the male worker with the hairy arms :/ I spent around $20 on my lunch today but after seeing that piece of hair basically baked into my wonton, my appetite was ruined :( read more
