This is what we ordered: - Uni sushi, not the best but it definitely helped the man's uni craving. Note - Uni is usually in season during the winter months, early spring. -Salmon collar. I like SushiStop when you're just looking for some cheap sushi rolls and Japanese food, nothing special but decent for the price. This location has some issues with having food ready on time, anytime I use an app (DoorDash, UberEats, etc) the food is never ready by the estimated time and this time the app even said it was ready when they told me it will be 5 minutes more when I get there. I didn't really care for Bad Sushi's version, and Kabuki has a bento box that is close, but not exactly what I want. Enter Sushi Stop with its a-la-carte style of ordering for an oh-so reasonable $2.75, and I am a fan! Pick what you want, and leave all the other stuff behind. Mixed tempura had 2 pieces of shrimp and the California rolls tasted fine. The cucumber salad is definitely a hit - thinly sliced (softened in a dressing of rice vinegar, maybe?) and some sesame seeds on top. It's definitely big enough to share. I was also floored by the service. Efficient ordering, water refilled, and I waited probably 1 minute for my check. These guys are on top of it! I don't think I've ever had a crunchy edamame? They were popping in my mouth. Salmon sushi- the salmon was rubbery and tasted old Blue crab hand roll- not the worst for me, but my boyfriend said it was horrible. Lemon Salmon Roll- it had chives on it? Who put chives on a sushi roll? Maybe it just me, but I've never had chives on a Salmon roll. Veggie pepper tuna-the tuna skin had a crunch textures, probably because it was not fresh. Miso soup- can't remember why I didn't like it. My husband and I both were ill after eating here. They pull you in the door with the "almost everything is $2.50" gimmick, however it adds up fast. The fish is decent at best, but you know it's not great since they mask the sashimi with WAY too much truffle oil. Service was slow and it wasn't busy. I heard it was $2.75 before but now Everything on the menu is pretty much $2.95, I was a little unsure about this since if it's so cheap then the quality might not be the best. Parking here is pretty hectic since street parking is pretty much impossible, but they do have a lot of underground parking which you have to pay. But it is Old Town, where it's pretty much pack 24/7 so I definitely suggest parking at the parking lots, if you're lucky some restaurants actually do validation. I would suggest not to come here on a weekend, we waited over an hour for our seats and had only 15 minutes to eat since we were in a rush to catch the movie Star Wars. The quality of the fish here is pretty decent, not the best but good enough for $2.95 per plate. I saw my friends order the tempura udon definitely made me want to try it, I had a few of their tempura and it has the perfect crunch, except for the pumpkin that was extremely hard and it was so hard to bite into so I just left it there. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to order more since we were in a rush, but next time Indefinitely want to come try again. Overall, 4 stars for service, 4 stars for food, 3 stars for environment and decoration and 3 stars for convenience. Next time I might want to try another location. read more

The sashimi is fresh and the specialty rolls are drizzled in the most delicious sauces! I love their baked rolls: dynamite and baked salmon rolls. For appetizers, the gyoza, tempura and miso soup are great options. Depending on the day/season, they also have certain specials as well that is at the very front of the menu, I always try to pick a few of those as well. 3 rolls/person should be enough to fill you up. Service is quick, friendly and efficient. Wait can be long during peak hours of the weekends. The sushi is good, but not great. It is, however, pretty inexpensive for the a decent quality of assorted rolls. Everything is $2 or $3, which are happy hour prices. If you're with a group of friends and you're craving something fast and Happy Hour-ish but just missed Happy Hour, this isn't a bad place to go to. But the name of the store, itself, implies that this is more of a quick stop during lunch or after work when you just want t quick, affordable bite to eat. There are better sushi places (which are, of course, more expensive) so if you want something cheap, easy and affordable ($50 will easily cover three people), this isn't a bad choice. read more

I've only had thier rolls and paid $6 for 8 pieces: 4 dynamite and 4 tempura! The dynamite is a baked little mass of scallops and mayo. I didn't think I'd like it, but it's pretty damn good! The tempura roll is pretty typical of a tempura roll so it gets a win in my book. Will eat those rolls again (and more) next time around for sure! They also have a small teriyaki chicken bowl for about $3 as well...But I think you should pass on that and just focus on the sushi. Feeling like sushi without ripping through your wallet? I ordered: salmon sushi, salmon and avocado roll, spicy tuna roll, philly roll, stuffed jalapeno, and mixed tempura. Let me list the items in the order I received them and explain why I did not care for it. Mixed tempura: thick AND hard batter. My jaw couldn't handle eating it. Stuffed Jalapeno: it was okay, I've had better. Their jalapeno was way too spicy. I've had some that were much easier to eat. Salmon sushi: too much rice (which was TOO sticky); salmon lacked flavor Salmon and avocado roll: flavorless salmon and rice is TOO sticky. Spicy tuna roll: had a sour and old after taste with rice that was TOO sticky. A few hours later, I'm having to keep going to the bathroom. Service: checked up on me.. so it was okay. My server was hispanic and her name started with an S. I don't remember what it was. I did NOT finish anything that I ordered except the salmon sushi. There are plenty of sushi spots around. I had never been to a SushiStop before and I WAS MISSING OUT!! This place is amazing! Since the sushi is only a few bucks each, you can try a bunch of different sushi rolls. They also have udon noodle bowls and it's all seriously $2.75! The rolls only come with 4 pieces, but since variety is the spice of life, it works out! We ordered a ton of sushi and sake and we only ha dot pay $20 each. The quality- it's not the best in the world but it's decent and everything we got tasted fresh and delicious. There are also some interesting creations of sushi that were worth a try. I don't even like salmon but the baked salmon roll was amazing! I was also a big fan of the california roll topped with spicy tuna. Delish! Service was a little slow since it was so busy, but they came with all the stuff at a steady pace and kept the sake filled. Everything was made to order and usually, we would get the salmon nigiri, some rolls, and a handroll. Tip: Do not get the crab handroll if you are not a fan of mayo. Portions were actually very filling and satisfying. We ordered 5 rolls (4 specialty and 1 basic) that came with about 4-6 pieces along with 2 of their mini udon bowls. Let me just begin with how full I was. We still had a couple pieces from the rolls left over. ***What we ordered: Dynamite Roll, Salmon Volcano Roll, Spicy Tuna Tempura roll, Tempura Shrimpeño roll, and Salmon Avocado roll ; Chicken Teriyaki Udon & Tempura Udon (all $2.75 each except the Tempura Shrimpeño roll) * Dynamite Roll was on point. A balanced amount of sauce and scallops on top of a California roll. My mom enjoyed this one the most (and, I kinda did too). * Salmon Volcano roll was one of the speciality rolls that contained some crispy potato on top (making it look like a volcano). I tried my mom's order, and it tasted like a regular salmon roll with a crunch. Tasty, and much more on the simpler side of the roll spectrum. * The tempura udon bowl I got was just the right size while trying to devour all the rolls we ordered. The soup and noodles were delicious, along with the tempura shrimp and vegetables. However, I suggest finishing the udon asap because I was literally trying to battle it out with the tempura since it seemed to be absorbing all the soup. I was left with a mush of tempura batter which wasn't very appealing to finish towards the end of our meal. Overall thoughts? I would definitely come by Sushi Stop again to try more of what their menu offers at an affordable price. The service was great as well, and that's always a good thing. We got eel/avocado, salmon/avocado, shrimp tempura and the Dynamite roll. Loved all of them with the exception of the Dynamite roll. The concept of it sounded delicious and I saw an order being brought out and it looked delicious, but it just didn't work for my taste buds.
