The Sushi was amazing. Very fresh! Service was excellent. This was an amazing find and it will be our go to Sushi hook up.

Had my birthday lunch at Sushiya yesterday and wow guys, this place has ALWAYS been wonderful! Still THE BEST sushi I've had in Iowa! Thank you to Avery (not sure of spelling) and to the entire staff for making my birthday truly memorable!

Not a bad little place. We sat outside, which I didn't even know they had outdoor seating, so that was a nice surprise. And it was a cute little area. Our server was super nice. I had ordered the Crabmeat Rangoon, Spider Roll, & the Shrimp Tempura Roll (which was my fav). The rolls were huge too! I would probably go back and try a noodle dish next.

One of my favorite Asian spots in town! I know they're known for sushi but I really like their non-sushi food items! They have the best Taiwanese chicken appetizer that is ADDICTING. All their apps are great. I also like their entrees. They have my favorite ever (off menu) chicken and broccoli - and I like how flexible they are with the requests (can upgrade to noodles for a small fee, or get beef instead).

When you are craving both sushi and pad Thai, Sushiya is here with both! Sushiya not only offers a wide selection of sushi but several entree options like pad Thai and noodles as well. It had been awhile since I had sushi, and I recently saw several reviews noting Sushiya's crab rangoon as the best. So, I definitely had to add that to my order. It's delicious and also reheats well, which isn't usually the case with crab rangoon. I also ordered the Spicy Salmon Crunch Roll and Chicken Pad Thai. Both were wonderful, and the pad Thai was a huge portion! It's a must if you are looking for leftovers. Sushiya also has a great outdoor area near the pond, so it's a perfect dinner venue in the summer.

Sushi, in Iowa? YA! Truly, I know how silly it seems to say you have amazing sushi in a landlocked state like Iowa... but dang. This family-owned must have does it right! This is the sister restaurant to Sushi House Family Restaurant in Cedar Rapids... which has been a local favorite for the past two decades or so. It is pretty mind blowing that this NL gem lives in what used to be a Quiznos? It does not, I repeat DOES NOT at all give sandwich slinging vibes. You walk in and it is minimal but charming with booths and sushi chefs front and center, doing their thang. We came in on a Wednesday, to celebrate a birthday. We ordered a handful of sushi (shrimp tempura, rainbow roll, yellowtail, spicy salmon and spicy crunch tuna), vegetable rolls, crab rangoons, edamame and a chicken teriyaki dish. Of course some sparkling sake and Sapporo, too. Pricing was on point, staff was knowledgable, service was fast and overall it was a stellar, tasty outing. There is plenty of parking, it is conveniently located just off Penn Street. When we left, the place was full! So be warned, it is a local favorite and with it being such a small spot-- plan accordingly. I am ashamed to say it took me darn near eight years to get to this spot. It serves up the best sushi in NL, perhaps even the area-- stop in today!

(Repost from my FB Review) I haven't been to Sushiya since the Derecho and throughout the pandemic but it has always been my favorite Sushi place and the best in the corridor area/lowa. EVERYTHING from Sushi chefs (MJ and Ray) trained by Vincent, front of house and kitchen staff still provide the highest quality and service. Vincent was able to adapt and thrive through these harsh times and I'm very glad Sushiya is still here to stay. Looking forward to my next visit for some Omakase! I highly recommend sitting at the bar or their dog friendly patio! There's also a small lake in the back you can take on walk on.

Sushi was great. We had a younger waitress that struggled to recommend a sake, but that hardly distracted from the nice meal.

I ordered a jalapeño cream cheese roll that unfortunately was completely overpowered by onions -- it drowned out the other flavors. I also tried a roll with a wasabi honey sauce that just didn't work for me at all; the sweetness and wasabi combination tasted off and kind of unpleasant. The other rolls weren't bad, but they felt like they were missing some texture -- a bit of crunch would have made a big difference. That said, the ingredients seemed fresh and the presentation was nice. I'd consider giving it another try and ordering differently next time.

The dishes are all usually well-prepared, especially the sushi, and cooked/made to order. On one occasion the steak hibachi was overdone but the other time it was fine... Service is great here, very friendly and upbeat (even in spite of being short staffed)...and the environment is easygoing and chill (you won't feel rushed)... Parking is plentiful, and it does get very busy on the weekends. You can make reservations for larger groups (over 5 people, I think). Definitely give this place a try, if in the area! If you're not in the mood for a lot of food, you can also just order off the menu...you will still get very generous portions!

Unfortunately, I've had the most vicious craving lately and this location is safer for me to satisfy that urge. I really only go with friends who live in the area and we order ahead online. They currently do not allow dine-in and this makes for even more minimal interaction with the staff, but they're plenty polite and professional. (It is a good size dining area though, especially with the patio!) We haven't had any issues with accuracy or quality either. Our food is always ready when we arrive. I hesitated to order straight off the menu since I have my insider tricks, but I was pleasantly surprised when my dish wasn't burnt or dried out as expected. And (like at so many other places that have shifted 90% of their focus to pickup and delivery orders) we had to wait a really long time for our in-person food. Two of our three dishes were done and plated right away, and then we watched them fill about five other orders before our third dish was cooked, so by the time we got our food, one bowl was steaming and two were lukewarm.
