The food by Mama Susy is outstanding! And it IS "Mama Susy" who does all the cooking. This is really a hole in the wall. Only in terms of size. It's clean, it's bright. Just in a very small space. She is the real deal, a real native of the cuisine here in the US cooking for us lucky people. She's a solo act. My wife had the herb chicken and I had the lasagna. Both were healthy portions and both very good. We will be returning. She's such a sweet lady. I hope that her business gets traction. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

This place is amazing!! We ordered the arancini to start as Susy freshly prepared our entrees. Lightly golden crispy outside, with ooey gooey cheese and a tomato sauce inside. Simply delectable. Our entrees were short rib ravioli and chicken mushroom ravioli. The short rib was melt-in-your-mouth tender with a pinot noir sauce inside and out. Chicken mushroom ravioli was accompanied by a fresh and tastebud-satisfying basil pesto. All raviolis were made at order and generously filled. Pasta was a bit more al dente for the chicken from its shorter cooking time, but make mistake that both were perfect. Throughout our time, Susy came out and visited with us during different cooking stages. She shared stories about the rice she uses for her arancini (not arborio) to make it more authentic to its Sicilian roots, how tomatoes make the difference, and how she's adapted her recipes to maintain flavor in the more arid Salt Lake valley. You really feel invested in what you're about to enjoy when you learn how she works hard at all the details. It's safe to say that you'll likely be full when leaving, but none of it will feel heavy. You'll feel full of Susy's love for Sicilian and southern Italian food. We cannot recommend Susy's enough and are already making plans for when we'll be back to try another sure-to-be-fantastic meal.

I met some sisters and a niece for dinner on a Tuesday night to celebrate a birthday. We were the only diners there and Susy was the only employee, so she had to serve/cook/clean. I'm sure there are other staff helping on weekends. It is a small restaurant with a big menu. I had the ricotta gnocchi with a pink tomato cream sauce. Others ordered margarita pizza, chicken mushroom ravioli with pesto, and brisket linguine. Everything was delicious!! Water comes in a chilled bottle. There were no desserts available the night we ate--would have been nice to top off dinner with a sweet treat. Next time I'll try other items. It has a large parking lot but can be tricky to enter because it's on a busy corner.

The house made pasta is great. You can tell care and quality goes into the preparation. The plating (plastic plates and silverware, water bottles) and ambiance is lacking. I would recommend as a good delivery or pick-up spot.

Food was fresh and absolutely delicious. Susy was so welcoming and checked on us to make sure everything was ok during our dinner.

Lovely woman running the place, she always has nice conversation and her food is really good for a small operation. Loved going here!

Great food! Susy used to be out of an airstream and is now in this little unassuming strip mall. She makes everything herself and boy it tastes fresh. 15-20 minute wait after we ordered. I got a Tuscan Chicken Pasta that was excellent and my dad got the mushroom ravioli and I can't say enough about how good it was. Very impressed!

    Flatbread...yummmm!

You know you struck gold when you walk into a strip mall restaurant and the owner is the only person in the place. Don't get me wrong, I love a crowd but this was a small restaurant with only a few tables in it and it was a late lunch. The owner, Susy, greeted me and treated me so well and kind. She made me a special flatbread that was out of this world and had thinly sliced prosciutto and greens on it. I couldn't stop myself. Then I ordered some sausage pasta and I don't think I left a drop of sauce on my plate when I was done. Everything is homemade here and the owner is your chef. Make it a point to visit Susy's and order away...everything is amazing!

Party of 3 Susy's Kitchen is authentic Italian food. It's a one woman shop. She takes your order, cooks the food and brings it. So don't come if you are in a rush. We were a party of three and we had the Bolognese, Sausages, and ravioli. The food was good and tasted fresh. Loved the salad. Happy to support a small business.

Ordered food at 445 requesting 6 pm. Showed up at 555 and was told 10 more minutes. 40 minutes later and we still don't have the food. Do not come here. This place is a joke.

I really enjoyed the prosciutto and melon, a little sweet a little salty, which I wouldn't have thought to put together myself. But the ravioli salmone was nothing short of incredible. Whether it's date night, dinner with friends, or a bigger group outing, this place consistently delivers delicious food, warm service, and that homey, family-run charm that's getting harder to find. I always recommend calling ahead for a reservation, especially if you're rolling in with more than two people. They've got plenty of room for larger groups (huge plus!), but I like the peace of mind knowing we've got a table waiting. We tend to start every meal the same way--with their antipasto board, and honestly, why mess with perfection? It's a beautiful spread of deli meats, cheeses, olives, sweet peppers, and this time, perfectly cooked asparagus. It's shareable, satisfying, and the kind of appetizer that feels like an occasion in itself. Entrees come with a salad, and the house-made feta dressing is always our pick. Creamy, tangy, and addictive--it's reason enough to clean your plate. For my main dish, I went with the chicken piccata, and it was a win: tender, bright with lemon, and generously portioned. Between the caper-forward sauce and the size of the plate, it was a win for both my appetite and leftovers the next day. My other half ordered the veal marsala, which is rich and satisfying--just know it leans a bit sweet. Our friend went with the spaghetti and meatballs, which feels like Fratelli's unofficial signature dish. Always classic, always comforting. Their wine list leans Italian, of course, and it's well-curated--plenty of great options by the glass or bottle. I only managed a couple photos this time because, full honesty... I was way too excited to eat. Fratelli is a bit of a drive from home, and when you're craving comforting Italian in a space that feels like family--you make the trip. Looking for that mom-and-pop magic with consistently good food, generous portions, and a welcoming vibe? This is your spot.

Ross grew up in a large Italian family in Chicago and wanted to bring the classic "old-school" Italian flavors he grew up with to Utah after finding they were hard to come by when he moved here. The restaurant is located in Taylorsville, about 10-15 minutes southwest of downtown Salt Lake City, making it an easy stop whether you're staying in the city or exploring the surrounding area. Always great to spend time with family, and this was the perfect place to do it! We had a fantastic dinner. The calamari was crispy, tender, and delicious. The gnocchi was flavorful and comforting, and my steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare. The restaurant is much larger than it looks from the outside, with a spacious banquet area in the back that's perfect for private parties and family celebrations. Even though it was a busy weeknight, the service was friendly, attentive, and efficient. There's plenty of parking, and they can easily accommodate both small groups and large family gatherings. Cheers--I look forward to coming back!

My favorite has always been "Mama's Trio" which is a combination dinner of their Alfredo, Lasagna and Chicken Parm. Great food along with amazing service was a hallmark of Macaroni Grill. That's what we were hoping for when we visited last night. Everything seemed mostly the same, but something was missing. The restaurant most mostly empty, which we wrote off as it being a slow Tuesday night and fairly early (530pm) however we took our time and were there until almost 7pm and not very many couples came in. In any case, the decor was great in the large open area dining room. We ordered a bottle of Pinot and an appetizer that we had never tried before - Whipped Feta with garlic toast strips. It was fantastic. Our waiter was quick and very friendly, wrote his name on the tablecloth paper as they do as their signature move at the Mac Grill, so the service was still there. We have both always loved this place, so the nostalgia was strong going in, but overall it didn't hit like it used to. The prices seemed quite a bit higher as well but the food quality didn't improve with the higher prices. My Trio was just "okay" but nothing to write home about. My wife got the Chicken Marsala and it was delicious. Easily the best dish of the evening. Overall nice atmosphere and service. Felt a bit old and outdated. Food was good for the most part.
