I can't say enough good things about Basta. The staff is also very friendly, the restaurant is welcoming and warm, the portions are huge and reasonably priced. It's the perfect place to stop for a bite before or after you've shopped around the Fashion Place.

This was my first time here. I ordered the Amatriciana pasta. It was delicious and the pasta was perfectly cooked "al dente". I really liked the sauce which included nice pieces of pancetta. It is a fast casual style of restaurant. The decor is modern. The staff were quick and attentive throughout the meal. I will definitely go back to test more dishes.

A great speedy spot for pasta/pizza. We were immediately greeted by three employees upon entering and everyone was super friendly and helpful. The pasta was out within minutes but while your waiting theyll bring you complimentary bread with olive oil/vinaigrette. I will say, for the price it is a bit steep but otherwise i enjoyed their flavors and protein add on options!

All I knew about this place was that it looked like they made their own, fresh pasta so the carboholic in me wanted in. This is a fast, casual place where you order up front and then they bring you the food. Lots of other things are self service, like to go boxes, napkins and condiments. I really like this approach because I would rather just go grab stuff myself when I need it. Service was friendly, attentive and better than I would have expected for this type of restaurant. But the food. OMG, the food is incredible. Perfectly cooked fresh pasta with an excellent chew enrobed in rich, flavorful sauce that hangs onto the pasta like a clingy ex. I appreciated the large, fresh basil leaves on top and generous shower of high quality shredded parm. My SO also ordered a pizza sandwich thing with gorgeous, tri colored cherry tomatoes and some kind of salty, cured meat. It was fantastic as well. I was so impressed by the quality of ingredients here. If you are a pasta lover and haven't tried Basta yet, you really need to!

In the fashion place mall with outdoor entrance. Order at the cashier and wait to be seated. Server brings drinks and a small piece of bread per person. $25 for my entree. Flavor pretty good. You can tell pasta is fresh.

Basta has some of the best food I've experienced at a fast-casual style restaurant. The pasta is made fresh and is cooked al dente. The chicken cutlet was crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. The Caesar dressing was good and I appreciated having the option to add on something green.

Wow I wish we had tried BASTA sooner!! The staff was incredibly friendly, the service was quick and it wasn't hard to find seating. It also didn't have that intense echo that you sometimes find in places like this. The food was absolutely incredible. To find Italian that tastes this authentic in Utah is so exciting!! It can be a bit expensive depending on what you order but everyone in our party left full. Highly recommend!

This place is so delicious, and I highly recommend it; you won't be disappointed in how good the food is. The bread with balsamic vinegar was so good, the prosciutto lemon pizza was delicious, and so the pasta. I also tried their desserts, but I didn't like their tiramisu; it was ok, but their pistachio cannoli was good. I was around the mall, but I think this place is really hidden, but great customer service. In my opinion is the best in the area.

I had no idea this place was a relative of the amazing sicilia Mia! The pasta is so tender and fresh tasting, which is surprising for this fast food environment. The price is definitely reflects the quality of the food. I like my arancini's a little less breaded, but they were still flavorful. Surprisingly the pizza was my favorite. It had a tangy pizza sauce and just enough cheese. Service was fast and everyone was incredibly helpful.

One of the best casual Italian eateries I've been to. They make the pasta in house, and their sauces are made the way they should be: in small batches. The service is one of the best! Veronica is THE HOST to have in town. She accommodated a part of 17 with ease. They served us very well. Highly recommend this place!

Solid pasta/pizza spot! The gnocchi sorentina and pappardelle crab were both cooked consistently but I'd come back for the pistachio pizza itself! The pistachio pizza was good and such a bang for your buck given the size. I thought it was going to be more of a personal pizza but was happy to see it was bigger than I thought!

It was my first time trying this place. I do love how it's all handmade and fresh. The inside is smaller than I would thought and we couldn't get a table right away because of our bigger group. We tried the fettuccine alfredo. The sauce was bland and not flavorful. I asked for a side of marinara which I added and it made it better mixing the 2 sauces. We got the margerhita pizza which was good. We enjoyed it way better than the pasta. We tried the olive oil cake and it was decent. It's also really expensive and the portion sizes are pretty small for what it costs. If I'm going to spend a lot of money on food I'd like it to fill me up and not leave hungry. The pizza was the best value. It was cheaper and more filling. I would maybe like to give this place another try.

This was my second time back at Basta. My coworker recommended this place awhile back and boy am I glad! If you know the Italian restaurants, Sicilia Mia and Antica Sicilia, this is basically like the lowkey version of those. Such great Italian food for a lower price than those fancy restaurants. They have a sort of club/outgoing vibe going on inside. Lots of music and cool art. You order at the front and then they'll bring out the fresh focaccia bread, drinks and food. The focaccia was great, who doesn't love some bread before their meal. I ordered the SORENTINA Gnocchi and it was super yummy. Came with cheesy mozzarella balls and a yummy pink sauce. My boyfriend got the vodka pasta which was also delicious, he finished his whole plate. Located right at fashion place mall. This is a great place for some amazing Italian food when you need a more casual night out.

Replacing cutlery, dishes, water, etc. was all standard practice and I don't think I remember asking for anything regarding that, which was nice. Caesar salad came with a fresh presentation. Neat, but a little too sour/salty for my liking, 7/10. Calamari was also a little too over-seasoned to my liking (lots of salt or herby powder), but the sauces and taste were good, 8.5/10. There was a meatball I tried and that was a very good meatball with sauce, 9/10. Carbonara was also a bit salty and heavy but hey, it's pork fat, egg yolk, cheese, and starchy salty water. Assuming they didn't cheat with cream, it was a smooth carbonara by carbonara standards. 8.5/10 and could be 9.5/10 if it was a little less salty. Overall a great place for dates or small-ish celebrations :)

Nothing really stood out as anything beyond "good" and a fair number of things were actually bland or bad. We got the prosciutto dates and were both really confused because it was impossible to eat. Huge slices of prosciutto covering these cheesy honey dates.... It was impossible to make a bite. The meatballs were juicy, but bland. They gave us some bread and it was finally well below average for restaurant bread. Espresso martini came out burnt, and that sat on our table the whole night. Our entrees were fine at best. I got a pistachio pasta which was good, but not worth boxing up. My friend got the bolognese which sounded amazing but both of us agreed, it was not good. Something with the flavor was just not right. It took us 20 minutes to get drinks, even when my friend ordered a glass of wine. We ran out of water. The decor is very strange with prop hams and fake garlic strung up. Feels strange to talk about how authentic this food is by fake garlic and kitschy decor. I don't know. I'm hoping we just came on an off night, but I don't think I'd venture to come back again.

I want to be able to describe my lasagna as cheesy. I am absolutly in love with the white bread garlic bread because it is what I was raised on and I feel like my mom made dinner every time they bring it to our table. On my second trip I ordered the 1/2 chicken parm 1/2 tortellini and I ordered the alfredo instead of the red sauce. Friends, this is where Italian Village shines! The sauce was perfection. I appreciate that it is a thin sauce because alfredo can get heavy quick. The flavor was perfectly balanced. Not a parm bomb but a blend of cheese, garlic, milk, salt, perfection. I usually like my chicken parm a little crispy on the edges so I was worried when it came out swimming like my lasagna but it mananaged to be cheesy (longest cheese pull ever), and still maintain a good bite and crispt edges. No complaints. Also you can't beat the price point

Ross grew up in a large Italian family in Chicago and wanted to bring the classic "old-school" Italian flavors he grew up with to Utah after finding they were hard to come by when he moved here. The restaurant is located in Taylorsville, about 10-15 minutes southwest of downtown Salt Lake City, making it an easy stop whether you're staying in the city or exploring the surrounding area. Always great to spend time with family, and this was the perfect place to do it! We had a fantastic dinner. The calamari was crispy, tender, and delicious. The gnocchi was flavorful and comforting, and my steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare. The restaurant is much larger than it looks from the outside, with a spacious banquet area in the back that's perfect for private parties and family celebrations. Even though it was a busy weeknight, the service was friendly, attentive, and efficient. There's plenty of parking, and they can easily accommodate both small groups and large family gatherings. Cheers--I look forward to coming back!

"Don't worry honey, it's okay to look, and also throw money at the half-naked women! I promise you won't get in trouble!" Uh-huh. ;) Alright, I digress. Awkwardness aside, Prohibition is a really great place to enjoy a classy dinner, where the meat is served on a place AND on stage, and the cheesecake comes with the price of admission! Speaking of admission, as my wife and I were guests, being shepherded along by our friend, I cannot recall exactly what the "cover charge" was (not much, if I remember correctly...less than $20 for two?), and if reservations are *required*, I cannot say for certain, but I would say they are *recommended* at the very least, because our showtime was packed. Anyway, once paid, you are escorted through a secret bookcase door (SLC residents sure do love their speakeasies, don't they?), and into the dining hall and saloon, where you're soon to have your socks knocked off...well, someone's clothes are coming off, anyway! We were given a table that I dismissively thought was tucked away pretty far in the back and out of the way, but it ended up being one of the best seats in the house, as the table where the performers gathered, prepped, and returned to was just adjacent to us, so we were about as up close and personal as you can get, without getting yourselves arrested. Each of the dancers brought their own style, flair, and wardrobe to their performances, which were spirited and energetic, and a touch racy, without devolving into outright debauchery. It may be an (18+? 21+?) venue, but alcohol restrictions aside, I wouldn't hesitate to take older, more mature teens to a show with similar content. We ordered a smattering of smaller dishes, as we weren't particularly hungry, but the Mishima Wagyu tacos were fantastic (as you would expect), as was the Fedora Fin (Za'atar-crusted ahi tuna), and all of our cocktails. As the show is timed event with multiple performances per night, both food and bev are fired out of the kitchen/bar faster than the bullets from a Tommy Gun, but with far better accuracy. The whole operation here was honestly very impressive, from start to finish. Coming from a progressive city like Portland, it's always struck me a little odd that places that, by reputation, strike you as more conservative end up having some of the best, most wild entertainment venues, that you only wish you had back home. Prohibition is one of these places that I would rather see in my downtown, instead of the litany of seedy strip joints pushing for maximum titilation, but with only a fraction of the class and sophistication. Prohibition is good, clean fun, masquerading as something illicit, which is the heart of what makes it work so well.
