The woman at the front door was amazingly rude and disrespectful. It was cold and pouring rain when we arrived so we ran to the door to get inside. However....the "greeter" was speaking with another group ahead of us and was blocking the doorway. When the group ahead of us was finally allowed to move inside out of the rain, we stepped inside. Your "friendly greeter" did not like this one bit and was very rude to our group. The view from your balcony was amazing, your cider is delicious, but your customer service at the front door was lacking considerably. A business like yours should have someone cordial at the front door that caters to the needs of the customer and can actually be nice to them. Your "greeter" was not any of these things. Consider more of a greeting area outside the front door to protect your patrons from the rain and post someone there who wants to be there. read more

A must visit when venturing from TC to Sutton's Bay. Definitely has a tree house feel with amazing views of the bay. Great ciders and the staff know how to help you find something you will like if you aren't big into ciders. Of all the places around, this one is a MUST! We came here after visiting multiple other wineries/cideries throughout the weekend and this one was our absolute favorite. The views here are the best and the atmosphere can't be beat. The flight of 8 ciders is the way to go, you get to taste basically everything on the menu. All the ciders were so tasty. You can also order glasses or growlers (to-go). The bartenders are very accommodative and are excited to have you there. They are very friendly and can give great recommendations on what mixes to do. We loved this place so much that we want to plan another trip to Traverse City just to come back here! I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Mixed feelings on this place. On the positive side; view that can't be beat on either peninsula, and Geof and Jon are awesome servers. On the neutral side; ciders are adequate, but nothing special considering other options nearby. On the negative side; driveway/parking is horrendous (especially in winter where I have literally seen cars sliding and hitting each other just pulling in/out, but summer is also bad in a different way), and is a bit chaotic/disheveled setting throughout the property. Also, be aware of the dog onsite. Seems friendly overall but I saw him bite a kid once. The owner kinda brushed it off, and I heard her say something along the lines of "he probably had it coming" after they left. So that tips my score down to a 2-star. read more

THE BEST place for cider on Leelanau Peninsula! The view is amazing, the cider tastes great, and the owner and other people who work there are all wonderfully friendly. I've seen some reviews where people are complaining because they only liked two or three ciders, but that's the POINT. The menu was designed for that. If everyone likes two or three ciders, they're all going to be different as far as which ciders, so there's something for everyone! I would much prefer that over somewhere where I might like everything, but my friends would hate everything. We accidentally first stumbled upon this place the week after they opened, and have returned several times a year since then. I highly recommend anyone on the peninsula to stop in! My only suggestion to them is that I would LOVE to see them participate in the peninsula-wide events. Tandem Ciders does, and while we make an effort to stop at Suttons Bay Ciders anyway, it would be nice if the tickets we bought were valid there as well! read more

Walking into the tasting room, the windows have amazing views to the lake. John greeted our large group and was friendly and helpful. He quickly got us all full flights, he had his system to fill them up, which was a challenge because we ordered six! There was also free popcorn to clean the palette. We ended up liking a few from the flight (the last three and the first couple of the dry ones were our favorites). We ended our visit with a couple glasses of mixtures from the back of the menu, sangria and utopia. Both were great! read more

I've been here 3 times and I love it each and every time. So much that the last time, I came home with a few howlers and have even recommended it to other friends traveling in the area. Here is my list of why I love it: 1) location - what a perfect view of the bay and power island. I mean it's truly a beautiful view. I also like the open layout with the bar, deck and even the picnic areas behind. It's nice to have several options spread apart. 2) price - you really can't go wrong with a whole flight for $20 and they serve them generously. Enough of a taste that you can sip & save and it encourages you to buy more. 3) service - the bartenders and employees there are extremely friendly and warm. The third time I went they were swamped, but they still served with a smile and tended to as many people as they could. I appreciate that because it assures me that my money is being spent with good people (character is everything nowadays or so I still think. How annoying is it when you patronize a place and the owners are not appreciative? It can really put a sour taste in your mouth). 4) ambience - the venue is just neat, a little bit for everybody. I love its casualness. Last but not least, the ciders! The ciders are each unique that you really appreciate their individuality. My favorite is the highlander (cider + lavender... I visited here with my boyfriend and we loved this place! We got a flight of 10 different flavors and they all were delicious and reasonably priced. The location provides beautiful views of the bay and colorful fall leaves. The staff was super friendly, as well. Jonathan was our server and he was very helpful and sweet. We ended up taking home two growlers of our favorite ciders. They also have cute merchandise in their tasting room. I was here in October and it was such a beautiful view from their deck area of the water and changing colors on the trees. Definitely worth checking out for the view. I did a flight of the ciders so I was able to try all 8 of their options. I love cider and normally always have a couple that I really like. Out of the 8 I would say that overall they were just ok and the best ones in my opinion were the cider with mint and the one with mosaic hops. We discovered this place the first year it opened and have been returning every time we are in the area. It is not far off 22 and the steps up the hill are well worth the view. The owner has always been very friendly and informative. It is definitely a small family owned and operated place. Sutton's Bay Ciders will always have a special place in my heart, as the site of my wedding rehearsal dinner which we named the "I Do BBQ"... there aren't enough stars in the world to give to this magical gem! We fatefully stumbled upon it while venue hunting in the area, had an amazing cider flight (especially love the mint and jalapeño), wonderful and friendly service by bartender John, and just took in the beautiful views. Months later, we brought in close to 70 of our best friends and family members from around the country and hosted one of the most amazing celebrations I've ever been a part of. From the start, Madelynn and Mark were so wonderfully easy and accommodating to work with. They were open to any and all ideas that would make our night special, and allowed us to bring in dueling pianos and set up an amazing live pitmaster to smoke meat outside for our guests. The owners even helped out behind the bar during our night to make sure everyone was taken care of and having the best time, and bartender John was there to work his magic too. This was the first impression of Northern Michigan for our guests, and what an impression it left! They were floored by the views, the hospitality, and of course, the cider. The staff made everyone feel so welcome and never let a cup run dry. I can't recommend Sutton's Bay Ciders enough, for a cider run or large scale event. And I can't wait to go back and visit again myself! read more

They have some many unique flavors like jalapeño, mint, and cherry. Lots of dryer cider too if that's you jam. The cider tender Jon! My girlfriends and I stopped in here to try all the ciders one Saturday this winter. The tasting room has the best view of west bay! We sat at the tasting bar and got to try a sampler of all of the ciders. The owner explained each one to us and we ended up sitting there at the bar for an hour chatting with him.
