We dined here on a Monday night and appreciated that the restaurant was open as many are typically closed on Mondays. It had a modern, clean, and welcoming vibe. We were warmly greeted. We opted to sit and the bar for dinner. We ordered a lychee martini and a red lotus drink. Both were well balanced a fresh. For dinner we had the samosa chaat, tikka masala paneer, kolapuri chicken, garlic naan and raita. We food was served hot and full of flavor. The servings were plentiful and we had enough leftover for lunch the next day. We very much enjoyed our dinner and will look forward to returning to this Swagat or one of the other locations near Madison. read more

The food is incredible I have been here multiple times and I'm always amazed at how good it is!! The service is fast and they are super friendly. They make sure to check on their guests. The restaurant itself is cozy and has a cool loft area. There's a bar and also dim lighting which makes the whole experience better. I will absolutely be coming back!! read more

Second visit and my taste buds are so happy! I tried one of the chaat (chaats?) and it was absolutely delicious (downside - there was so much I had to take some home). Our first delight was discovering a restaurant that was actually OPEN on a Monday! Many of the mainstays downtown take Sunday and Monday off. Which is really a drag if you're only in Dubuque on Sunday and Monday. Just sayin'. Swagat is apparently new to the dining scene here in River City, but the place has definitely arrived. Bright and airy dining room, with a bar beyond...makes you feel comfortable right away. And if Indian cuisine is your comfort food, you won't be disappointed. Lots of standards on the menu, all offered with your choice of spice/heat level. My Sweetie ordered the Chicken Tiki Masala...and I went with Butter Chicken. Both were delicious, and attractively presented. The garlic cheese naan was tasty, too -- as was my Manhattan to wash it all down. Servers were pleasant and attentive as well. We took a drive to Dubuque recently and stopped at Swagat. We had a party of 5 and were seated right away. Atmosphere was clean and enjoyable. We ordered naan and a round of drinks to start. We each ordered an entree and ended with splitting a couple desserts among us. Food was delivered in a very timely manner and tasted great. Large portions so there was enough for each of us to have a second meal the next day. Great evening all around. Low point was the mojito that came out with green coloring of some sort in it. Not eye appealing and we didn't finish it. The non alcoholic mojito our son ordered looked and tasted amazing though. read more

Always improving and some of the best Indian food around. I've either eaten there or had take out a dozen times since they opened (I love Indian food). I really like that they ask you the spice level and am typically between a medium or spicy, but like a little heat. I've also had a few dishes mild abs have to say still have a great depth of flavor and perfect if you're taking someone there for the first time. The standards are spot on (chicken 65, chicken tikka, vindaloo, sag paneer, and samosas). If you wanted to branch out more I like the lamb curry, chilly gobi, ragsa tikki chat, shrimp pakora, baingin bharta and muttar paneer. Everyone also loves the mango lassi! You also can't go wrong with a garlic or garlic and cheese naan. T The service is friendly and has been able to work out a few kinks from when they first opened. read more

I'm so happy that we have an incredible new Indian restaurant in Dubuque! The food is fantastic!!! We have eaten at the restaurant at least 5 times now and always enjoy it! If you can't dine in they offer takeout which has been great too! I recommend eating at the restaurant because it is beautiful inside and out! On one occasion the music was very loud and when we asked if the volume could be reduced they adjusted it right away. We love Swagat and have recommended it to several people!!! read more

While vacationing, my family always tries to eat out at Indian restaurants as we have very few where we live. Absolutely delicious and incredible service. The Lamb Vindaloo came to my table piping hot with a side of very fluffy white rice. Asked for it medium hot. Side order of naan bread too. Very tasty with tender lamb, carrot, and potato chunks. This place is my new favorite place in DBQ. I've been a few times but I've been literally dreaming of their Chicken Korma since I had it. It's genuinely the best thing I've tasted in my life. The service is almost insanely fast for how much food you get and they only messed up one time I visited but quickly fixed it. The inside is gorgeous and you can tell they put a lot of love into what they do here. The only issue that keeps me from coming back are the prices. They are a little steep but pretty fair for the portions you do get, I just wish I could eat out here more often. read more

Third time back. My wife and I love this place. Finally a place with authentic Indian food. Dubuque can be such a cultural wasteland when it comes to dining. We have yet to have a bad experience or meal here. The owners are present and attentive. The waitstaff is spot on.. and all three meals I have tried so far have been off the charts. Best Indian food around! I've been for lunch and dinner and have yet to have something that wasn't amazing. The service is also consistently improving and think they may get bombarded from time to time so understand if they are still working out some kinks. Made our first visit to the newly opened Swagat location in Dubuque, and it won't be the last! It was a busy night so we ate at the bar. Fun but intimate atmosphere, very friendly service, and amazing food! We tried the samosas, garlic and cheese naan, chicken vindaloo, and Dhaniya chicken curry. Everything was delicious! We were asked if we wanted the spice to be mild, medium or hot. The hot is definitely spicy! Can't wait to go back and try more. I think this may be the best restaurant in Dubuque. Fresh food, exciting spice blends, impeccable service. Vegetarian options (thank you!), but lots of other options as well. The naan is wonderful. I've also tried the samosa, salmon, and the ragda tikki chaat. I would order them all again, but I'm currently a bit obsessed with the tikki chaat. And, yes, the mango ice cream is a must! Food was pretty good after it finally got to our table cold. The young server was trying but the beer menu isn't correct so we were served the "wrong" beer twice only to be told the beer we ordered isn't available anyway-as if we wouldn't notice a difference. Had to find and bring our plateware and water to our table (and for another table). And now just looked at our bank account and there is a mysterious second charge we didn't sign for! If we eat there again it'll only be for takeout. read more
