Dr. Hunger is very rare among San Diego area Chiropractors: he uses the spring loaded "activator" as his preferred and primary modality, not as a bait and switch to the more common high-force (yank and crack) spinal manipulation method. For me, my body responds quickly to activator interventions, but I am outliving all but one (Dr. H) of the activator DC's in town. [Ok, OK: maybe it is my mind that responds better ..., ;-] By the way, there is more research on activator chiropractic, since it reduces much of the practioners' variations. If you are tired of the AMA's "heal by steel" and Big Pharma's "we've got drugs for you," call Dr. Hunger. He is really an educator and healer at heart. After suffering for over 6 months and not knowing what to do, Dr. McPherson came to my rescue and my leg became progressively better and I was able to dance again without pain. Dr. McPherson was very patient and addressed my whole body in the process of healing my leg. I never felt like I was being rushed out of the office until all my issues were addressed. He used a multitude of therapies including ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, massage and back adjustments to speed up my healing process. I wasn't nickel and dime for extra therapies and appointments were usually available the same day you need it. Man, getting your back adjusted is like drive thru massage therapy. In one split second, all your tension vanishes. Love massage therapy for the experience, but back adjustments seems so much more effective in releasing tension. The bonus is, you don't have to lie in one position and in the process get all tense in one area or the other. Dr. McPherson also dealt with my occasional neck problems very effectively as well. Always after one session!! In the past, I would limp into a massage therapist and come out feeling better, but still suffer for a week.
