She knew exactly what I needed and walked me through the cleaning process. She explained the filter system and the need for DE after cleaning the filters for the pump. She contacted me to get an update on how the clean up was going and asked if I had any additional questions. My FIL gifted us with an Intex above ground pool with pump and all, but i had no idea how to maintain it. I went to Leslie's Pool Supply off Knott/Katella, and the employee was less than helpful. I left with a $70 bucket of 3-inch chlorine tablets for my 2500 gallon pool. Returned it the next day, and found SWAN Discount Pool Supplies on Yelp. Ellen was extremely helpful and explained in simple terms, without overwhelming me, how to maintain the water for the season. I told her my concerns and she walked me through the process of supplies I needed and didn't need. I told her I had a ph kit, but asked about strips. Ellen said I'll be fine with the kit. After picking all the supplies, I grabbed some ph strips. As she rang up the items, she saw the strips and double checked to make sure I needed them since I told her I had a ph kit. I told Ellen I wanted to try the strips too in case it was easier. She was so nice to talk me out of it because she was worried I might get too overwhelmed with alkalinity on top of everything else (she would have been correct!). Bill is very knowledgeable about pools and technical issues. He's very straightforward and he'll tell you exactly what you need without overselling unlike other pool stores.
