    Portobello Tacos

Great space for meeting up with friends or working alone. Friendly service with great food and drink specials. The portobello tacos were quite filling.

I'm a bit biased, due to this being one of my longtime favorites. Their food is always great - my go to is their shrimp quesadilla (their roasted garlic sauce is to die for) and their frozen margaritas. It was a slow night (located near the University and it was a weekend) and there were only two servers but our service was still great! If you're ever in Memphis this the perfect place to drop in for a quick meal or drinks!

I was out shopping in Eastgate today and suddenly realized I was starving and it seemed that a taco would really fit the bill. I have never been to this location before and I can be certain I will not be returning. The dining room lights are really dim, the two young girls behind the counter could really not have cared less about stopping their conversation to help me. The vegetables in the veggie medley were hardly cut, and the dish was lukewarm when I got it, not a good thing when you are holding food on a steam table. This is certainly a health code violation. The food tasted like something I could have gotten out of an old El Paso containers at Walmart. The chips are good. That's all the positive I have to say.

Stopped in for lunch/dinner. Got a passionfruit margarita sugar rim, yummy! Happy hour is 3-6 monday thru friday.. decided to get a bowl n got it fully loaded. Steak, fajita veggies, black beans, corn, guac and alot of other toppings. It was pretty quiet this afternoon, I loved it. Watched a lil sports while eating n chatting with my lunch buddy. I couldn't eat it all, so I packed it up. Still delicious... still satisfying..still inexpensive

This location was just ok. The first thing I noticed is that it wasn't clean. Trash was all over the floor and tables. Once we found a clean spot, I ordered 3 tacos - beef, chicken, and steak. They were all good, not as fresh as what I had before, but ok. I also had the queso dip. To me, it was extremely watery. I couldn't taste the cheesiness at all. The chips wasn't as fresh either.

I was truly surprised by this visit! We came on 12/31 around 3. I thought it was shutdown from the outside but saw that they were open for business. There was only one other couple dining in here. The ambiance is kinda dark! I was expecting a more upbeat atmosphere. There is music playing but notning special. I ordered to burrito bowl with steak. Corn, black beans and rice, pico, lettuce, sour cream and queso. My husband ordered a burrito bowl with chicken and we got a beef and cheese kids quesadilla. My son enjoyed his quesadilla but our burrito bowls were cold! Not just the cold condiments, the meat was even cold. My husband took two bites and was done with it. This isn't a place I'd come back to. It puts me in the mind of Qdoba or chipotle and it could've been a good experience if my food wasn't cold!

Wasn't too busy for lunch thankfully. Placed my order and it was ready within 10 mins. It was exactly how I ordered it and the employees were very nice. It was a bit smokier than I'd prefer inside the building but I was getting mine to-go anyways. Nachos were delicious, the steak was plentiful and flavorful. Their queso is chef's kiss. The fish tacos are my favorite because of the way they fry their fish and the garlic sauce. Good place for a Tex-mex lunch.

Finally checked out Swanky's a few months ago after a few folks were telling me they have the best chicken tacos. I wouldn't say they were "the best" tacos in the world, but they were definitely good - seasoned well and if you like spicy chicken tacos, give theirs a shot (rating - 8/10). Loved the chips and salsa! I ended up taking some home and they wouldn't charge me for it, which I thought was sweet. My small complaint with the restaurant, in general, was their outdoor seating wasn't clean. I luckily had some hand wipes that I used to clean off our area. Also, our tacos were cold :( I ended up coming back here one night and created my own chicken-rice bowl. it was yummy!! great service and friendly staff. I will be back!

This was my first visit to Swanky's and let me start by mentioning this place has outdoor (and indoor) seating! the outdoor patio is gated off so it can be child friendly out there. The bathrooms are nice and clean as well! They're located across the street from some railroad tracks, too. All good things to know with kids in tow! Our waiter - Anthony - was super duper friendly and funny and attentive. Really liked him. The food was pretty good. I got the fish (tilapia) tacos. We also got cheese dip. My husband got the steak tacos and my between my kids they had a cheese quesadilla, chicken taco, and a chicken salad. The toppings/produce were all fresh. But for some reason, I just didn't love the food here. I wanted to! Really want to. Just didn't walk away loving it. I'm not saying the food was bad but it wasn't super flavorful or memorable. I'm giving 4/5 stars for the outdoor atmosphere, the attentive wait staff, all the food was fresh and came out exactly as expected.

    Chicken quesadilla

Spent $22 for this disgusting, soggy chicken quesadilla and a personal queso & chips. I took 2 bites because I was starving then was so grossed out I could not eat any more. This thing was dripping liquid like a soggy baby diaper. Queso had good flavor but was cold so left it all on the table. Will definitely not return. Next time I'm listening to my friend and going to chicken salad chick!

First time trying it. And it was terrible nothing was fresh and the meat was undercooked. I had one portabelly taco and street taco lol my street taco had literally just steak nothing else it was supposed to have in it and my other one was only mushrooms in a shell with nothing else in it. And worst of all it took them 20 minutes to prepare it when it was terrible I ordered this yesterday and I still have it sitting here on the counter. My dog doesn't even want it and it made my boyfriend extremely sick I would recommend condodo tacos

I thoroughly enjoyed this taco salad. I can't wait to have it again.

The food was excellent and we had a great server (Maggie) who helped us navigate the menu and the array of complimentary sauces. We ordered chips and dip (homemade) and this is not the standard bagged chips with salsa bottle. Crisp and substantial chips with fresh, flavorful, slightly spicy salsa. Really good! Maggie recommended the Birria Burrito with consume for my husband. Wow!!! Loaded with tender and flavorful shredded beef, whole beans, rice, and cheese in a grilled tortillia wrapper with a rich and hearty consume. He has a healthy appetite and still took some home. I got 2 alpastor tacos, which were excellent. Tender and flavorful pork with just enough pineapple. I alsi had a grilled chicken taco that was good, but not as luscious as the pastor. We LOVED the sauces. Yes, you got some mighty heat with a few of these, but they never sacrificed flavor for the sake of heat. Great pickled onion and habenaros, fresh crisp radish and cucumber, smokey, spicy dips. What is not to love!! Churos for desert, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Clean, well lit reasurant. Casual. Friendly service, great parking!! We will be back (and bring friends!)

I still can't stop thinking about the sauce station here. There's a private parking lot shared with the surrounding businesses, and the restaurant has around 15 tables inside. It is a good casual spot if you are looking to dine here. FOOD: This restaurant does not serve complimentary chips and salsa. It is $2.95 an order. 1. Torta Villa Carbon (4/5; marinated grilled chicken topped with grilled onions, grilled pineapple, melted cheese, jalapeños, and avocado): This was huge. I ended up saving half for lunch the next day. The combination of sweet and savory flavors worked really well together. 2. Campechano Burrito (4/5; steak strips and chorizo with rice, beans, lettuce, onion, tomato, and jalapeño): Steak and chorizo are always a winning combination, and this burrito did not disappoint. 3. Chirucas Chimichanga (4/5; two medium chimichangas stuffed with rice, beans, cheese dip, and your choice of meat, served with lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream): I chose the grilled marinated pork (al pastor), which was flavorful and satisfying. The server mentioned that the chicken version is their favorite. The service was decent overall, though it could be slow at times. I noticed a few tables waiting a while before servers came to take orders or refill drinks, and my drink was empty for a bit before getting a refill. Dinner service can get very busy, as every table was once full in one of my visits. Would I come back? Absolutely.
