three glasses of beer on a table
    Jenny V.

Decided to stop in after driving by. Beer selection was somewhat small but did enjoy the beer I chose. The gentleman behind the bar was very friendly and was open to letting us sample some of the selections. I will say I was a bit confused as to who actually worked there since everyone kept going behind the bar and serving themselves. Within the 30min we were there at least 3 guests got up, walked behind the bar, served themselves and then went back to their seat. Can't say I've ever seen that happen before except on the show bar rescue. As far as the interior goes, it's very empty and bland. Personally I wouldn't stay after 1 or 2 beers. There was no entertainment and the space just feels vacant. Perhaps I came in on an off day but wouldn't say I'd come back unfortunately.

My boyfriend have been checking out a lot of local breweries and saw all the great reviews on yelp so we decided to check this out. Keep in mind there is only 2 hour street parking in this downtown area. We both got a flight of 4 different flavors for $6.50 each, this place runs on a token system where one token is worth $6.50. You also have to watch an informational tour video before they are able to serve you. I opted for the pale ales, saisons, and one stout. My boyfriend got 2 porters and one stout. My favorite was the pilot take 5 while my boyfriends favorite was the no quarter. Cool vibe with friendly people.

Third State Brewing is everything that a brewery should be. They are located in Burlington, NJ, which I didn't realize is jam-packed with colonial era architecture. Breweries can help rebuild struggling downtowns, and Third State is definitely a draw. The community feel in this brewery is one of the best. I can say that because I have visited 84 breweries in NJ alone. The crowd there is much more down to earth than at other breweries. The owners seem to know each and every person who walks in. Everyone chatted with me, and I felt quite welcome. They gave me a free logo glass and sticker. Nobody knew I was going to write for Yelp. Third State is one of the "older" breweries in NJ, and old is a relative term. It's been about 4 years. So, it has a more established feel. The beers are not incredibly complex. I would say that they are designed to appeal to a larger audience. The one I liked the best was the chocolate habenero one. The decor of the place is relatively straightforward, too. The people who go there don't go there to be seen; they go there because they want to belong.

On the main drag, a cute little tasting room decorated simply and nicely. Took the obligatory tour, then went to the cashier to get our tokens to buy beer. I'm not thrilled about the token thing, especially when it's getting crowded and it takes longer to get to the beer! It's an extra unnecessary step. We also had to fill out and sign a card stating we did the tour, which I've never seen before. Also purchased a $3 sticker for our collection. I had a flight with the Melañero- a spicy saisaon with habanero, Third State Amber Ale, Bourbon Barrel Stout, and Boris The Younger Black Rye IPA. None really wowed me, and the amber ale was so blah it almost wasn't worth drinking. However, M had Matincunk Cream Ale, and that was great! I drank some of his and wished I ordered that instead. I liked the atmosphere here and the cream ale.

Left to right- Pope-a-Nut, pumpkin ale, red and saison

I can't complain too much about this brewery. I'll admit I wasn't hugely excited to come here - their tap list is very traditional, and I like my beers funky. However, once here I did appreciate their takes on some classics, and did even get to try something unique. The truly unique offering I had was something I'd never thought of before; a coconut infused stout. Pope-a-Nut is what it's called and as far as I can tell it's going to be a very limited release due to recent events in Philadelphia. To me the coconut is very subtle, it kind of just leaves a faintly 'nutty' aftertaste but it's addictive. Despite using coconut this is not at all a tropical drink, so don't go expecting that. Their pumpkin beer is also very tasty, and they even put cinnamon sugar on the rim for you if you get a glass there. The ale itself is a sweet and spicy brew, typical of most other pumpkins this time of year. I'm considering going back for a growler of it. Along with the above two beers I also had the Autumn Reprieve saison and their interpretation of a red ale. The saison I think will get better with time - it was decent, but it seems like perhaps the yeast needs to age a bit more to get a more nuanced taste. The red was decent, very malty, not something I would really go for again honestly since it was almost completely average. Overall I like this place. Keep in mind they are a very traditional style brewery when compared to most of the other breweries within this area, or maybe even the whole country, since the American market these days tends towards novelty beers. There aren't a ton of novelties here. That being said, it's worth a look, since most of what I had was solid. P.S. They play a lot of James Taylor here. I heard three songs in less than an hour.

Third State is one of the newest breweries to join the robust beer scene in Jersey, and they're off to a good start. The brewery is in downtown Burlington, which seems far from the city when you're looking at a map, but it really wasn't bad. Plus, it's not too far from Mt. Holly's Spellbound/Village Idiot *and* right across the river from Neshaminy Creek, soooo it's easy to make a full brew day out of your visit. The inside of their building looks, as you can imagine, very new. Overall, it was pretty bare bones with a massive 'Third State' sign and a dose of mid-afternoon sun flowing in. They use the token system here. I purchased one token for a $6.50 flight of four samples. They had six beers on tap and, despite the general lack of decision making needed, it was still tough for me to decide on which ones to order. In the end, I went with the West Jersey Pale, 325 HIgh PA, London Tenth Red, and Irish Tenth Stout. Of the four, the stout was my standout favorite, so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what they create in a few months. They mentioned that the Red is their top seller, and it's also a good choice. The IPA was pretty standard, and I wish I had realized the Pale was a lager because I would've ordered the blonde instead. Still, for a lager (my least favorite style), it wasn't bad. They also had a black rye on tap, and my friend said she enjoyed it. Later, we overheard staff mention a tour to another group, but we didn't inquire since we were moving on to another brewery. Overall, if you're nearby, this place is certainly worthy of a stop.

London Tenth Red. And a token for another beer.

First time here, was referred by a customer while I was bartending today, figured I'd swing by after work. Cool little place in the heart of downtown Burlington. Had a London Tenth Red. Nice smooth malty red, just the way I like my beer. Also had the Pumpkin Pale, which was surprisingly delicious (but without the Cinnamon/Sugar rim, although many people enjoy that). Had some interesting beers on the board, can't wait to come back and try them.

Being a huge fan of craft beers, I was excited to try out this new brewery near me! I went on a Friday night with a friend and there was a decent crowd. It seemed like a more mature group of people and almost everyone knew each other. It must be a popular hang out location for locals. The wall is painted with the logo and they have some really cool signs and pictures decorating the room. I enjoyed the more intimate atmosphere and the personal tour we received upon arrival. It was interesting to hear some facts about the beer I was about to consume! They have a token system, so we paid at the register and received one coin for each drink. We decided on flights to start so we could get a little taste of everything. The flight was only $6.50, which I thought was very reasonable and the cheapest I've paid. I liked that they had beers listed on a chalk board and wrote on the flight with the corresponding number. My favorite was their pumpkin beer because they added cinnamon and sugar to the rim! What a unique touch to a classic seasonal beer. My second favorite was the Pour Visibility NE IPA, which I chose for my pint after I was done with my flight. They sell 22 oz logo beer bottles along with the growlers, but there were only two beer choices for them. I wish they had the pumpkin in bottles, so I will just have to get a growler the next time I'm there! My friend and I enjoyed light conversation with our beer and the view out of the floor-length windows! Last call was 9:15 (they close at 10) and they started cleaning up the patio furniture immediately; so I felt a little rushed. Next time I will make sure to get there earlier if I want to spend more time enjoying their beer! All-in-all a pleasant experience and would recommend to beer lovers in the area.

Came here after waiting for the perfect opportunity. The stars aligned when I realized they were open for 30 minutes before close - the exact time I had to wait for the river line. I call that #kismet. Terrific addition to the neighborhood. These folks couldn't have been nicer. Happy to talk beer and the upcoming AC beerfest. The beer itself was wonderful. Sun and Boris were my favorites. The Chardonnay barrel aged was something a little different. I suggest you give it a try. Great interactions, service and great beers. Highly recommend.

We were really impressed, and I am fighting the urge to give them 5 stars. But I've only been once, and maybe 5 stars are reserved for multiple visits? We'll definitely go back, and I'll likely give them that 5th star: they strike me as consistent with high standards. It's a small brewery, space-wise -- smaller than a couple of other local breweries I've visited, but they make 6-7 different beers -- no lagers, though. We both liked the dark beers, the porters and stouts, but the ales were quite good too (we ordered 2 samplers). We took the tour too - and honestly, it was perfect for me: short and sweet! The brewer let us sample a new peanut butter beer he's working on, and it was really good (he was inspired by DuClaw's Sweet Baby Jesus chocolate peanut butter porter). The location is inspiring too, if you enjoy a historic district, and get some satisfaction in helping the renaissance of a neighborhood. We viewed the new art gallery around the corner (I attempted a check-in, but it's so new it's not on Yelp yet - I'll remedy that later), took a walk to the River, and came back up High Street. It was a pretty hot day, so we worked up a thirst. The cool air in the brewery was so welcomed, but not as much as the refreshing beer! Third State doesn't serve food (yet?) but there are a couple of restaurants nearby, so you can bring food in -- or bring your own, or eat at another time. Handsomely decorated, with tables and booths, as well as stools at the bar. Staff was genuine, fun, smart, and helpful. I wish them all the best and will be back soon.

Excellent selection of unique beers in an intimate space, Third State Brewing continues the trend of excellent microbreweries. This was the third microbrewery my friends and I visited (the others being Broken Goblet and nearby Neshaminy Creek), so this review will be much shorter than this place deserves. We found this brewery via yelp and on a whim decided to cross state lines for a visit. Third State Brewing is in downtown Burlington, NJ. The street parking may be a bit interesting, but it seems to be free and we had no problem on this day getting a spot across the street. The tasting room inside is very small with a simple bar and a list of the beers on tap. They utilize a token system, so walk past the bar to the back right corner and purchase your flight tokens there ($6.50). You can pick any four beers from the menu for your flight. We sampled two flights of beer (eight samples total), which went from the popular Red Ale to a habanero flavored one. I really enjoyed the lagers they had here and the stouts. Some of the more unique flavors are worth a taste, but I could never get a full glass. Overall, I'm really happy we made the trip to Jersey to try Third State Brewing. This is certainly a place for beer lovers seeking out unique flavors, but they also have enough variety on the menu for the more casual drinker. A must visit if you're nearby.

I was able to park on the street about two blocks away and amble over to Naked Brewing Bristol Taproom. Short walk. Beautiful day. The brewery is mid-block on the west side of the street, looking its age as a late 19th Century enterprise. Bar in back. Tables up front and to the side, with wall shelves and stools for the sometimes SRO crowd. Live music in the basement from local bands. I sat at the bar, served by several lovelies who were in total control and set the vibe. I went with a 7 oz Mango Starfighter was a slightly sour/sweet beer with turmeric coloration. Liked it. But, what drew me to Naked was their collaboration with Cheese Dawgs who ran the kitchen with a primary menu of creative hot dogs at reasonable prices. Burgers, salads and sandwiches were likewise available. I chose their Philly Dog (mustard, pepper hash, onions) and New England (Boston baked beans). Both were tasty, fun and drip worthy. The frankfurters weren't all beef, but they were good enough. The rolls held their contents, but for the over abundance of ingredients spilling over the top. I asked for a spoon to handle that, and a server promptly obliged with a smile. But for the absence of tater tots and fries, I would have preferred an Italian Hot Dog, but it was a very busy day, and I wouldn't hold that against them for running out of some supplies. I had a decent conversation with both another customer and the beermaids, so all in all it was a pleasant and delicious afternoon. 5 Naked Stars for this surprisingly comfortable beer hall

I was disappointed to see they only had two of their flagship beers for takeout (Hey Yo NE IPA and Independence Lager) and no crowler canning machine for their tap list. They will fill your personal growler and the prices for their 16oz four packs were fair. $10 for their lager and $14 for their Hey Yo NE IPA. There are a lot of other breweries charging much higher prices and/or you're paying a flat amount for beers no matter what the style (which is ridiculous) .... I can understand a higher retail if it's a limited release or higher end brew. I made it a point to return and sit down inside the brewery to take it all in. My life plans landed me there on a Sunday, unfortunately Sal's next door is closed on Sundays, so a food truck parked outside or Durham Deli across the street had to do. The layout on the inside is inviting: picnic tables or bar seating are your options. They have board games to test your mind or keep your kids occupied and there were several TV's playing NFL games. The bartender was nice and a good conversation. He was very into their beers and gave great insight into: when they were tapped, what was coming down the pike and info/ingredients of current tapped brews. I didn't see much in the way of a menu with descriptions of each beer, but then again I didn't ask. I just looked at the tap list on their menu boards which noted the tap number (16 total), name of the beer, style, abv, price and the ounces of the pour. In my opinion the variety of beer styles they had would give any beer drinker several options to try. I sampled a few different styles: Belgian IPA 7%, Winter Warmer 9.4% and their American Pilsner 5.8%. I found them to be average to slightly above average and served in proper glassware. You can get flights, a single 5oz pour or in a glass that ranged from 10-20 ounce pours. The prices were between $5-$7 for a 10-20 oz. pour. The to-go cooler had four of their brews this time and also a second cooler had local Jericho Mountain Beef. You can buy several different styles of vacuum sealed meats that looked delicious. They also serve wine, seltzers and non-alcoholic beverages. The bathrooms were pretty big and clean. They welcomed a pretty big family with several kids so I'd say your safe to bring the fam!! I'm a fan of Broad Street Brewing, I think their prices are more than fair, the staff was nice, their beers are average to above average and true to the style (from what I've tried) and the building itself was clean, open and inviting. I enjoyed my experience there and will return (preferably during Sal's business hours!). Thanks guys!

Additionally, the outside has a nice patio and an area with a fire pit. The restaurant's layout was designed wonderfully! Our server was Alex (Alexandria) and she was the epitome of exceptional service. She checked in on us multiple times and always had a smile on her face when she came over. We really appreciated having her. The baked feta and hummus appetizer was just as delicious as it looks in the photo. The thick pieces of garlic, roasted red peppers, olives, cucumbers and pita bread triangles paired so nicely with the feta. The hummus was warmed up and it looked like the kitchen staff may have torched the top of it. It was phenomenal. Boy do I have notes on the lentil burger - it was 10/10!! I'm not a big bean person and even though this burger had beans in it, it somehow tasted like an actual beef burger. Sounds crazy, I know, but trust and believe it was pure excellence. I added cheddar for an additional charge and upgraded my regular fries to garlic parm fries. Finally, the caramel apple bread pudding... oh my oh my! What a DELIGHT. The top was piled high with a big scoop of frosting. Yes, you read that right. Frosting! Not ice cream! You can taste the apple pieces in the bread pudding. My friend and I wanted to order it twice. It was THAT good. It was easy to make my way to Dog & Bull from Center City thanks to the Septa station located directly behind the restaurant. Street parking also wasn't too bad yesterday. I absolutely loved the experience I had here and will be stopping by again this summer! Thanks, Dog & Bull!
