UPDATE BASED ON SWEDISH MOTORS RESPONSE - there are several lies in their comment, which I have reported. The concept of bad credit card numbers and leaving my car for 6 weeks for them to store is categorically untrue. Consumers have very little power when it comes to dealing with businesses like this - the only way to hold them accountable is to write reviews. Their response is more of the same gaslighting. I work with abused women every single day who deal with this too and I will not be ok with it just because writing a review is generally seen as uncool or 'Karen' behavior. Being held accountable is important. They are now refusing to respond to my texts, but continuing to charge me at the same time. Businesses with integrity will freeze the amount until the matter is resolved, they are purposefully not resolving the issue, refusing to release the car and inventing figures at this point based on how angry they are about the situation they co-created. Avoid at all costs. And the costs are randomly invented. They incorrectly informed me that the car had been collected by the co-owner of the vehicle, (not me) then retroactively charged me for 'car storage' when they knew I was unable to collect the car during the week, only weekends and out of hours. They accused me of 'ghosting' them when my son was in hospital. We agreed to a $210 charge in total, but then they did not supply me details to collect my car in time at the weekend, then charged me an extra $400 for that week, despite the real charge being $175. I have screenshots to prove all of this with an insanely rude 'manager'. I was loyal to them for 2 years and I will categorically never EVER use or recommend them to anyone. The treatment I received from them at a very scary time for me and my family has had an emotional and psychological impact I would not wish on anybody. read more

I love taking my Volvo here. It is rare to see people so passionate about a brand of cars and you can tell they have a quality they want to uphold for quality sake. Also, their waiting area is really comfy and it is fun to look at all the Volvo memorabilia. I have taken my old Volvo here 3 times now and I always come and leave feeling my Volvo was in the right hands. I recently took my car for a checkup here before a cross-country road trip and the guys were able to break down my repair list into things they recommended I must do versus things that could wait and assured me I would be safe on my drive. I've had problems with my car for years and finally these guys were the first to easily see the problem when others places hadn't a clue and just kept doing the alignment even with broken issues, bandaging the problem and it got progressively worse and even dangerous. Now I realize it's much better to take my car to the specialists , or Swedish motors. They were super fast and communicated along the way via text and email. This is Boulder, so they are already overpriced. You should expect to get honest customer service when paying this much. These guys like to play games, find a different company. I had a simple mechanical repair, a broken tail light and a side mirror that was loose. They gave me a quote, the side mirror was a warranty defect, it just needs a couple of clips. I expected to pay the labor. When I took the car in for the repair, the quote changed to $200 in parts, plus more labor. They never took the mirror apart, they just gave me the wrong quote the first time. I told them not to do the repair, but go ahead and do the oil change. They punished my by charging me $100 for the oil change. They only charged me $60 three months ago. I asked to speak to the owner, but he was not available and he never called me back. read more

I took my Volvo in to have the transmission flushed. I drove to Louisville and my car stopped. They forgot to put the plug in. All the fluid had run out. When my transmission light came on I took it back to them. I got my car back and on the 3rd day it would not start. They broke my timing belt. They took 9 months to fix it. If you love your Volvo like I did, do not take it to them. read more

Absolutely the worst service from beginning to end. Inefficient, inept, and absolutely NOT customer service orientated. They will gladly take your money, and the price for this shop to you, is sub par work, sub par communication, and then them deciding you are no longer a customer because of their errors. It took almost 90 days to resolve the issues with my car, including them screwing up the warranty paperwork, and thus they did not get paid, their response, i am no longer a customer. Use at your own peril. I highly suggest looking elsewhere for a Volvo shop. read more

Super nice guys, but WOW expensive! Had a used car inspection and they found a few things, and quoted the price to repair. Compair their prices with the Volvo dealership in Fort Collins: Used car inspection Swedish $173 (included some circuit check) Fort Collins $110 Transmission Flush Swedish $300, Ft Collins, $220 Computer software upgrade Swedish $140, Ft. Collins $51 ($1 software from Volvo, $50 labor ALL computers in car vs just transmission) Timing Belt Swedish $900, Ft. Collins $525 (Will admit Swedish includes new water pump and other parts, not sure about Ft. Collins) Unfortunately I was the guy selling my Volvo and insisted potential buyer get car checked out. We split cost of inspection. But because of their quoted high prices for repair, scared off potential buyer. Oh well. And after all, it is Boulder, so I should expect to pay more, right? read more

They have friendly and knowledgeable staff that take the time to thoroughly assess your vehicle and patiently explain the results. The only pace to go in the Boulder area to get your Volvo serviced. Their staff is very helpful and doesn't try to nickel and dime you like some other repair shops. They don't mind taking you back and showing you exactly what is wrong with your car if you are so inclined and they even have free loaner cars for use while repairs are being made. Swedish Motors is an auto-shop like no other I've ever been to. It's one of the few auto repair places where I truly feel I can trust these guys. I've bought three used Volvos over the years and the main reason I buy Volvos is because I have a reliable place to take them if something goes wrong. I remember when looking at used Volvos from private sellers, when I ask them what shape the car is in it's amazing how many of them simply say "I take it to Swedish Motors" (meaning it's well maintained and in great shape of course.) They will give you a ride to work in Boulder, or give you a loaner which is incredibly convenient. I don't understand the favorable reviews here, but since there are only 4, I suspect they are written by cast and crew of Swedish. RUN, don walk, AWAY from this place. The definition of fraud is a misstatement of material fact, knowing it is not true and that it will be relied upon, the other party relies upon it and is damaged.. This place is a FRAUD. My son brought my C70 convertible to these assclowns because of a coolant leak. Given the C70 has seen better days, but overall it was a reliable fun car. After their inspection, they reported that the radiator failed and needed to be replaced. The repair was performed at a cost of nearly $1,000, we paid and drove away. That was in late November 2012. Fast forward to May, 2013. The car has about 6,000 more miles on it than in November and the coolant again is leaking. My son returns the car to Swedish for inspection. Low and behold they discover that who ever worked on the radiator last damaged it, and repaired the damage with "a white substance" and that there is a wrong hose on the radiator. Understand that my son isn't one to work on cars, especially cars that are running fine, so the hood wasn't even opened since November when Swedish worked their magic. The shop manager goes on and on about who ever worked on that radiator not doing things properly, then states in no uncertain terms that it they are not responsible. They also state that the car is now undrivable because of overheating. We ultimately called a junk yard and scrapped the car. Because of Swedish, this C70 went from a reliable fun older car to scrap. Nice job assclowns. Swedish asserts that someone else must have performed this repair. This is unbelievable. Why in the world after paying $1,000 would we have anyone else work on what Swedish already did??? Perhaps someone broke into my garage and performed the shoddy repair without our knowing???? My requests to speak with the owner went unanswered. I just can't believe this place. Its one thing to do shoddy work, and another level to refuse to accept responsibility. I have taken my volvo here twice, looking for a specialist in Boulder. The first time they were very helpful with a quick turn around on my vehicle and overall, I was happy with the service. However, the recent repair on my car has left me frustrated. They have had my vehicle for almost a week, disregarded messages I have left, and failed to call me back with updates on the status of my car. Originally, they said the work would be done Tuesday morning, and as of Wednesday night I have yet to hear from them. After this experience, will not do business with them again. read more

I have trust issues, those who know me, know this. It's a professional hazard. Those who know me well, know why. Enough about me, let's talk about Swedish Motors. For 13 years I have brought my beloved 1996 Volvo 850 T5 for them to work on. They have always been honest, they have always been more than reasonable and fair, and most important - what ever they say I trust in their judgement. The obvious care and pride they take in their workmanship shows in everything they do. Their rates are reasonable and their estimates are always true. They even offer with enough notice the use of a free loaner vehicle whilst your vehicle is in the shop. They also in the past have arranged free pick up and drop off. For 4 years I took my 850 to the dealership, only to realize their less than honest approach in their business practices. I have loyalty to a business when they treat me well. At the time the dealership in question did just that. Their sales manager treated me like family when no other luxury dealership showed even a shred of that respect. Sadly when he left, things went down hill. Because of that I found Swedish. I am happy that I did. I know this sounds like a paid endorsement. It is not, they didn't ask me to write this review, nor did they ask or pay me to endorse their services. I just believe in this day and age, that customer service has gone the way of the dodo, and that pride in work has fallen by the way side. I also believe that people are very quick to complain about the negative and very seldomly, as quick with the positive. Have they been perfect 100% of the time? No. Have they made it right 100% of the time? Yes. It takes a lot for a business to admit fault. Swedish Motors has always had the ethics, and the moral fortitude to admit when they are wrong.
